Oh yeah. 4S should be the power for this bird. 3S EDFs are thing of the past.
@@PetrincicBrosRC I should have watched your excellent video before my maiden flight with this F-18 today. The same thing happened today when I tried hand launching with a 3s. It flew only to the ground. I put a 4s 1800mAh G2 smart battery in it and it launches perfectly, even without wind. I think the 3s will only hand launch with a 10 knot head wind or more. I’ll only use a 4s on this EDF now.
Looked great in the air, and a nice STOL landing.

I think 3S is nothing here. This bird will be released this year also under different brand and it will be stock setup on 4S and they will even put gyro in for launch assist. Cant wait to test one. Also in different scheme.

Good work guys, OVONIC 1300 3s 80c 30 amp e.s.c. works well in my Eachine f16,a bit of breeze helps the launch. I am sorely tempted to get the f18! Now if somebody is listening, a Cougar in that range would be nice. I'm currently upgrading my skyangel panther with a new F.M.S. fan-should be interesting

Well, I think if using 3S batterie like it should be flight will be longer.
The quicker you light the fuse the faster it goes out .

You purchase a battery with a lower C rating such as 30c So you do not overheat your ESC with a high rating
I will look in my hangar and find some other batterie.

If not, you can´t say anything !
Sometimes even new batteries are not ok ( for example: to long stored in the shop ! ).
I don´t believe that it will not fly with 3 cell, the difference in performance you showed is to big to be result of 1 cell more !
I had similar event so I had to get new batteries ( same cell number ! )
I´m glad that you announced to try again with ( an other ) 3 cell !

I put ar630 in mine Robert and did same as you with cg and it flew like a dream had a lovely 3 min flight but my landings was not the best lol it hit hard and became airborne again lol 😂 second attempt was better, salute to my bro’s, Gaza ps, I flew on 3s 1500mah 45c and 1300mah 25c and was good for 3 min flight but landed at 3 min hope that helps but such a lovely plane

Bifurcated exit duct will always make the edf lose some efficiency. Single edf best for single exit hole jets.

It is very similar to the Eachine F16 550mm. From the flight picture I like the F15 better and due to the angular fuselage it definitely feels much better in the hand and is therefore easier to throw. I'm guessing your 3S battery is already past its peak - these jets are battery killers haha. In my opinion, 3S is calculated tightly for both models, so it's better not to buy it as PNP and rather equip it yourself for 4S and then buy even better servos - that costs more than PNP, but you only buy one for that! With 4S 1300mAh 70C battery and 40/50A ESC and 2 minutes flight time and short full throttle fractions of max 10/15 seconds you probably have a good compromise between performance, weight and component life. What size battery fits in there without being too heavy? However, I don't understand why the F15 now costs more than double as a kit. You gave both 9 points. Well, you're just a nice person. Ok for the kit, but I would only give 5 points for the built-in components in the underpowered version, i.e. 5+9:2=7 points for the PNP version and the same for the F15, but the high price differences should also be taken into account influence the rating - fortunately the thoughts are free!
Maybe kit version here is really better way to go my friend. Becouse for good flying 4S is a must here.

I think its even better flyer and the sound is amazing.
On Banggood they are showing the CG at 55mm back from the Leading edge at the wing root - this as you say seems a much better placement than the one in the manual ...
These Eachine EDF jets seems to be substandard compared to the 50 mm jets from Xfly and Arrows RC products....
I think they have missed it with 3S power.
Even when you put the 4S in it, very short flight duration and ESC getting hot, maybe a higher rates ESC and a higher C rating 4S is the answer.

You are the inspiration for a lot of pilots, but you reviews need to improve. One of the more important items is the CG. When you do a review and the plane flight good in that CG, you should take a ruler and show in the video how many MM the CG was, this will save the viewer a lots of money, because the manufacture put out sometimes is garbage with big price, . Now you review show that the airplane foam is beautiful with terrible electronics, Banggood show this plane as a 3 cells and is not good, no power at all. And the best way to test that is to point the nose up, and give full throttle if the plane is not light on you hands, then is a not go. Don't even try to flight, you have you first problem. You flew the plane fantastic look so real in the air, but this plane is not a 3 cell is a 4 cell with 3 cell electronics, if the sale this plane like a 3 cell and you pay 200 dollars and you have to change the electronics esc, fan motor this can become a 300 dollars plane in order to flight decent. So this plane with this price is a no go.

1.5 minute flight !!!! its a joke isn't it ?? - and on a 4S - its not worth the time and effort to purchase such an aircraft for 0ver £150.00 - its lucky they sent it free or I am sure you would not be very happy with that performance - for this flight duration - the site selling it says 3-4min flight time ?? and the recommended Battery: 3S 1300mAh - 1800mAh LiPo ?? - seems as if Eachine got it wrong on this one..... You have a bad pilot....Max McCoy. Mine has Commander Stephen Dean on the side of the plane and flies OK with 1300 120c 3 cell battery. Problem solved. Joking aside I had real power problems flying the f16 on this battery but no power problem at all with f18. I am starting to think that the manufacturer has a quality control problem with the motors or escs. Andy in uk.
