Cute little guy... I understand that you're probably following sponsors... But I just got the Freewing Ultra Performance 8S F22 Raptor. I would love to see you enjoy the absolute thrill, and comfort of it. It's not only the most stable, and docile jet at low speeds, meaning it's got a ridiculously low stall speed... But it also has an amazing top speed of 120+mph as well. I feel like it is one of the absolute best out of the box RC fighter jets in its class. I know it's a bit high on the price for the type of thing you guys do... But oh my God! You definitely get everything you pay for.
Have you ever considered looking into a sports speed sensor, such as those use to measure the speed of a baseball pitch? I've seen other videos where R/C pilots use them to clock aircraft passes, and it seems ideal for smaller planes where the GPS logger is a bit cumbersome.

I've got one and it flies a lot better than Nates's. Use 4S 1300-1800mah lipos and its way more powerful than this. Stick a Spektrum receiver in it and programme it with Safe and AS3X. It will hand launch no problem if you launch it in safe, 30-45 degree angle, full throttle, full elevator and launch it fairly hard. It's a great little plane. It's much faster on 4S and flies like its on rails. It also handles the wind really well. I absolutely love this plane.
I bought this when Nate first introduced it in January I think. I finally opened the box this week while cleaning my hobby room. This is my first plane ever and what I didn’t realize is that’s it’s just the kit. I have no idea what I need to get it going. I mainly bought because of Top Gun. What do I need?
Do you mean you have never flown any RC plane before?
If so, what you need is another plane to learn with. That EDF is too advanced for a beginner. Even with all the right equipment you will destroy it in 10 seconds if you try to fly it. Get yourself the Horizon Hobby T28 1.1m. Excellent beginner plane. You could also get yourself a simulator software like Realflight to learn with.
But to answer your question. You need loads of stuff for it. 50mm EDF, 34/40amp ESC. Servos. 3s/4s lipos. Transmitter, receiver and at least 50 hours flying experience.
My 50mm Arrows BAe Hawk goes up without a hitch and is fully aerobatic. Loops, rolls, snaps!

I flew mine on 4s using a FPV 4s 2200mah lipo. Those lipos are the same size as a 1300mah

@@js32257 no this is not my first plane. I have the volantex p-51 mustang and I am able to fly good on the expert mode. The volantex planes are basically the eachine warbirds
@@theoztreecrasher2647 as I said in my last comment, I can fly the little rc foam warbirds on xpert mode WITHOUT crashing or losing control. If this is not a good intermediate plane/jet then can you recommend a plane/jet that would be good for an intermediate flyer

is it compulsory to have plane insurance in America?
Most R/C clubs require AMA membership to fly at their fields, primarily for the liability insurance. One uninsured pilot causing an injury to a bystander could subject a club to a devastating lawsuit otherwise.
Many pilots that fly in parks or vacant fields, however, do not have AMA membership. There is currently no law requiring it. IMNSHO, though, it's still a good idea. One malfunction or dumb-thumb is all it takes to bring on a hefty liability obligation.
Definitely a good idea to get insurance especially if you're flying around people houses cars etc. I fly at my local flight field and lucky there's nothing to hit but trees and few poles and yes I've hit the trees several times lol 🤣
While I do have an AMA field, I do fly at my local park far from people.
