    Hi Brian, just a quick comment. I have one of these and do like it. Concerning the cog, the manual that comes with the plane says 110 mm from leading edge. This is obviously wrong and a lot of people say what they meant was 110mm from the first panel line which is what I used. Found that a bit tail heavy and moved the battery to get about 100mm from the first panel line. Here is the news...I looked on eachines manual Web page last night, and according to their on line manual the cog is 55mm from the leading edge. This is not the same as the manual you get in the plane, but is exactly where I have found the right cog point. I think it was a mistake on the printed manual. Just in case anyone is interested. Andy in uk.

    Been flying this with 1500 100c batteries for a while and it’s my go to plane at the moment as it’s very discrete, sounds great and Tom Gun relevance :) I also made the ailerons in flaperons and really helps slow the plane down. However, the first one I purchased the engine ripped out during first flight and lost everything as I was flying over the ocean. I suggest removing the small plastic strip that holds the ESC in place because it’s not held on good and if it comes off during flight it will go through the motor. Also, tighten the nut screw for the fan as it was a bit loose.

    Hi guys; Glad to see ya flying on a sunny day instead or freezing your bits off. A strange disparity in Bangood specs. I have the same fan unit at 2627, 4300 kv. Definitely rated as 4s. Specs on my Powerfun unit, (QX are same) are 950g peak thrust. So even with a 2200 4s the aircraft will go vertical. Plane is still only gonna weigh around 550g. Of course the weight to lift ratio makes it harder to pull out. Adverse yaw whilst banking can be fixed a bit by making aileron end point on the up aileron higher than the lower.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you do this with the move the linkage in one spline on each aileron, or do you use DIFFERENTIAL?

    • @stephenwood4053
      @stephenwood4053 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrianPhillipsRC In Transmitter I put up Aileron 100% and down at about 80% end points. It gives up going wing a little less drag to turn nose into the turn. Yes also called differential aileron. :)

      It really is. Lower wing loading, better power to weight, higher speed (even on 3S), but BOTH are pretty good still. Eachine just needs to work on their LIVERY...why this weird test livery??!?!?!

    Ahh your timing is perfect. I just got mine last week. My 1st EDF. I've still to maiden it. I was gonna fly it on 4s 2200mah but the CG is impossible on a battery that big. I dunno how you managed it in your last F-18 video. But for my 1st EDF flight I want to be dead-level so that it is in the air for longer than 5 seconds before I destroy it. So I got me some 4S 1300mah 50C on charge right now and set my timer to 4mins. I might give these RCHacker batteries a go. Cant wait!!

    • @BrianPhillipsRC

      "how I did it" - 2200 4S - it was QUITE nose heavy ;) LOL

      @@BrianPhillipsRC A little update. My F-18 had its maiden last week. I crashed it straight away then repaired it and waited for a wind friendly day. I flew it again about 1 hour ago and its awesome. Its sooooo fast but flies like its on rails. Its a little bit nose-heavy. But I'll play around with that over time. That was my 1st EDF flight. It was amazing man I loved it!

    Hey Brian, I fly an Eflite F-15 64mm EDF with wheels off at a local school. Since I belly land it, I always get wet grass and bits of dirt up in the intake. How do you deal with FOD on these belly lander EDF jets?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't - FOD is a PIA....you just gotta get lucky, and when it gets sucked in, sometimes you'll blow out a fan ;( I've had it happen on our road. To be honest, and you can't really do this, I spend a lot of time with a leaf blower, cleaning off our driveway - I know, this probably isn't the answer you were hoping for, but I also kick EVERY rock off my driveway I ever see...as my wife, she'll roll her eyes - LOL ;)

    Brian, in the 3s video you sounded very pleased with 3s. In this 4s video you sounded like 3s wasn’t up to snuff. Did something happen when running on 3s when flying off-camera, or is 4s just that much better that it made running on 3s seem worthless?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, the 4S just makes the plane SO MUCH BETTER as a jet.
      These lipos are PERFECT for this plane too, since they're CHEAP, and almost perfect on size.
      As for the 3S - sure it's going to fly, and better than the F-16 on 3S, no doubt, but on 3S it might make you think...NOT a jet....reminds me of other jets of yesteryear, slow "high speed" passes, and terrible climb out - definitely doesn't scream Fighter Jet, does this make sense???

      A lot of people are flying these 50mm eachine EDFs succesfuly on the stock 30A ESC on 4s even though it is drawing around 35A on the bench at WOT iirc.. in free flight it will likely be a bit closer to the 30A
      There have been 1 or 2 ESC failures reported on 4s on RCG among the comunity but the vast majority are getting away with it.
      I wonder if high ambient temps and/or constant WOT flying style could be the difference between success and failure.
      I'd go for it if your ambient temps aren't too high but I'd defo upgrade the ESC to a 40A down the road even if just for peace of mind.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven't had an issue so far, BUT admittedly, I don't fly these planes as often as many of our viewers, due to our various planes we're always doing to keep up. If in doubt, get a bigger ESC or just wait for it to fail ;)
