It seems like someone (behind the scenes) has a checklist of cinematic atheist clichés, and they want them all checked off. I'm not an atheist, but when these particular cliches are used, well, it sets up the film for parody.

April the fourth be with you Sorbo is what ISIS thinks American Christians are like already anyway. Arrogant, irrational rich people who think anyone not in their club will burn in hellfire for eternity and somehow that's less cruel than chopping someone's head off. Wait...it just dawned on me...ISIS was the intended audience for this film. Makes so much more sense now.

The “Italian pastor” is Michael Franzese, a real life member of an organized crime family in New York who became a Christian after prison. That just makes the mafia, wise guy schtick so funny.

It's frustrating because the production and content are so good, but I look at the subscriber count and it's like??? You deserve more of a following, in my humble opinion.
Yup. It is very refreshing to see christian who doesn't hate atheists by default and is very critical of this christian propaganda. I respect Kevin a lot even though I don't always agree with him. He deserves more subs.

PLOT TWIST:
Sorbo’s wife wrote this as a troll movie and convinced Sorbo it was for real-and convinced Sean Hannity it was real.
That's the best theory ever.
I just can't wait for one of Sorbo's kids to grow up, develop critical thinking skills and star in a movie where the happy ending is becoming an atheist, casually reading about Hannity's sexual harrassment convictions in the newspaper on July 4th, then watch some fireworks. Who the hell wants to take a selfie with an imaginary friend the sky when you can shoot him with pretty bombs instead?
"Jesus, Bro!" was in production before "Let There be Light" was announced, so it was kind of a coincidence that they ended up having the same premise.
I forgot for a moment that this movie was filmed in my hometown as I was watching the opening debate in this movie and thought to myself "Huh, that looks like the Lyric Theater...oh that is the Lyric Theater"

That's a pretty steep accomplishment, considering I have a list of lines/jokes you've said that I make a constant effort to immerse in my everyday life.
I feel like the movie would have been more interesting if when he saw the son, the son was like: "OH NO!!!!! HELP DAD! HELP!!!!!" And then the rest was Him trying to figure out how,............
And then they could have Titled the movie "OH NO!!!! HELP DAD! HELP!!!!!"

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that in this and God's Not Dead he blames God and not the cancer for killing his loved ones? Maybe it's just me wanting to expect more nuance as a cancer survivor myself, but these movies only know how to construct straw men and black and white morality. Your reviews never fail to make me laugh, keep up the great work.
LOL And he also converts to Christianity following a car accident. Gee, I wonder if this movie was inspired by Sorbo's role in God's Not Dead XDD I really love the complete lack of originality of this movie. As Kevin pointed out, there's almost no way it isn't a parody.
Well God creates all thing. Including cancer. And he didn't heal them even though it is super easy.
It is bizarre how cancer is totally random based on film convenience. In God's Not Dead the atheist is rewarded for converting by getting cured. But in this movie the devout lifelong Christian dies from cancer.
It's part of trusting and having faith in God. God is sovereign and nothing happens unless He allows it. My mom died three months ago today, and I still don't understand why. However, it hasn't shaken my faith in God. It's caused me to cling to Him harder.
Sorry about your Mom. I'm lucky to still have my Mom, she survived cancer as well (it was breast cancer). I worry everyday about her.
@J Do, some people do blame God for things. They do it, because of their own expectations of God failing to meet what they thought should be the outcome. Make sense? I've seen it happen before it real life.

He even said in his Top Ten Worst Movie of 2017 wished that Let There Be Light came out before his movie so that he could borrow parts of it to parody

I appreciate the political jokes. Christians, lamentably, can be very ignorant of political philosophy. It also aggravates me to no end that Christians shy away from political discourse, do not apply their biblical principles to the way they vote, and cannot find the humor in political satire. Fire away with the political jokes, I thoroughly enjoy them!

The latter were pretty rude. Not attacking Kirk and Ray-lol remembered his name-but not very nice. But the debate wasn't rowdy like they portray in this movie.

This review is everything I've ever wanted to see. It is really hard to tell if the movie is sincere or not. My hope is that it's kind of what The Room was like: a passion project that went incredibly wrong and ended up being a comedy instead of the intended tone.

I've been waiting for this review for a long time now. And I can honestly say I was not let down at all. It's weird to think that because I watched a Bobby Burns review of God's not dead, and recognized the "It's Christian guy" from blimey cow, I got to be a part of such an awesome community. I love understanding all your innerside jokes, and eagerly awaiting inner tube, and movie night videos. They are always worth that wait. One thing though, the argument from the deaths and testimonies of the Apostles is more nuanced than it's most often expressed. The deaths of the Apostles don't prove the event is true, but they do show that they *believed* it was. Cults and terrorists are also convinced what they believe is true. The questions is then, *what* made them believe that? It's easy to explain what made a cult or a terrorist believe something. It's not so easy to explain what made the Apostles believe Jesus rose from the dead. Especially when they're in a position to know that it is a total lie if it is in fact a total lie. The cult follower or the terrorist isn't in that same position. They are just believing what someone else told them. But they have no way to verify it. It would be like saying that a cult follower would still die for his cult even after his cult leader told him that none of it is true, or if a terrorist was still willing to die even if he was taught by his Imam that he was sinning in doing so and that there would be no virgins in Paradise waiting for him.
