Well it says both in different chapters, which is part of the problem.
Just a handful of things to "do unto others:"
      • Punish children to the third and fourth generation (Numbers 14:18)
      • Punish children to the infinity generation (Genesis 3)
      • Not just punish their earthly lives but torture them forever (Revelation 21:8)
      • Not actually punish them at all but turn the other cheek for their transgressions (Matthew 5:38-40)
      • Kill them (The Entire Old Testament)
      • “Harvest” them with a scythe and mash them up in a giant wine press until their blood pours out to the height of a horse’s bridle for 184 miles (Revelation 14:17-20)
      Take your pick.

You know, the ideology of these films has always perplexed me. Attempting to delegitimize atheism by claiming atheists are only atheistic because of trauma, not only is this demonstrably false, it has an unintended side effect of delegitimizing any belief system. I can claim the only reason the people at Pure Flix are Christian is because of some trauma they suffered in their lives, that all of them used to be hateful blasphemous atheists, and the only reason they now follow the word of God is because they had a near death experience. Why not? That's essentially the same logic they're using for everyone else. When you remove the prospects of independent thought, personal experience and ones journey through life shaping whether or not they're a theist or an atheist, you grossly oversimplify and misrepresent a persons relationship with their own existentialism. Hey, that guys an atheist, shove him into traffic it'll make him a Christian! That ladies a Christian, give her mom cancer it'll make her a atheist! Frankly its a disgustingly cynical attitude and speaks volumes about the lack of faith and the lack of respect the people behind Pure Flix have for the rest of humanity.
Oh, and Sean Hannity can fuck off the edge of a cliff.

I think it's because religion is often entangled with conservatism. The "Protestant Evangelical persecution complex" is great for the GOP voter turnout.(I say Protestant, because Catholics are much more diverse and therefore differ in the political Spectrum). As an european, i always found it bizarre and fascinating because conservatism in the USA isn't merciful to the poor or the sick. It often relies on antagonism, jingoism, and fear-mongering, concepts that Jesus Christ would despise. The reason why it doesn't make sense is because Pure Flix movies are almost never truly about religion, they are about republican politics. The irony of it is that this whole thing is bad for Christianity. American Christians could be taking part in a positive future, but instead insist on antagonizing everyone else.
But these are just my thoughts. Thanks for reading.

*Yes, fear and ignorance, not Christians fault who genuinely believe, they were just raised to do, I dumped my Catholic beliefs at the end of high school but I would have fallen for these nonsense “movies” when I was theist.

    • @aarondavis8943
      @aarondavis8943 2 ปีที่แล้ว

These films aren't created to convert atheists, but rather to extract money from Christians and rally the faithful. They don't want to give an impression to this Christian target audience that atheism is even possible. There's a certain power and confidence to atheism that frightens Christian high-ups. So they sell the notion that there really aren't any atheists, just pretenders. This fraudulent state has no attraction for existing Christians who might be wavering.
The last thing you'd want your propaganda to do is to make a competing ideology a more attractive option.

I was born on December 26. My family was kind enough to let me celebrate my birthday in July instead, so that it wouldn't get completely overshadowed by Christmas. If celebrating your birthday whenever is good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me. Checkmate, Atheists.

MegaChickenfish God (no pun intended), I wish this had a Split-esque twist ending where it turns out to be a sequel or prequel to an EG storyline where the “light,” was supposed to refer to Celestia but was misinterpreted as something related to Christianity (possibly to create a new, bigger portal?). Now I’m just coming up with fanfiction ideas to make the movie more interesting and less shitty.

i was just going to say that. one of the main reasons Uganda was sentencing gay people to DEATH was because of the influence of white Christianity. people think it's just because "africans are backward lol." but it's really because the US has been exporting homophobia and colonialism for a very long time. pan-african religious systems usually believe in 3 sexual orientations, similar to some native america groups' "two spirit".

I love how these movies make it seem like atheists are these absolutely perpetually unhappy people who are just leading sad, and miserable, empty lives, with holes in their hearts. Actually every atheist I know is pretty damn happy with their damn life and much happier now that they're not confined by religion any more.
