  • Season 1 episode 6 sets a 1/2 oz season goal! With 3 grams already tallied, I need half a gram every week for the rest of the year!

    Can you make a video on what is allowed and where? Like what kind of equipment can be used for recreational and where? As well as with a prospecting permit what and where? You probably got ppl out here getting fined after watching your videos not knowing the rules. It would definitely be nice if at least someone from PA could make a video about this. Thanks

    I'm doing research and gonna try to test pan up in nepa, on the Lackawanna river. There are a bunch of coal mines around the area too. So I wonder if I'll pull anything out. I know a few ppl that found ruby's thou.

      We’ll definitely not the G I was going for but my outings got much more limited than anticipated. I’ll post my years worth vile at the end of the year. Still got a month of digging before it freezes up.

    I prospect new England and I usually classify my material. This year instead of using my 1/8 inch bucket-top classifier I made my own similar to an arbor. I used a gamma bucket lid and cut the center out. I then bought a parts strainer basket off Amazon (looks like a minnow trap without the inverted cone bottom) and attached a handle off an old bucket. It classifies to 1/4 inch and I can fill a five gallon bucket in five minutes. I've been running alot more material this year and doing it alot easier.

      Fantastic idea! Part of hitting my goal, rest souly on being able to move more material faster

      If you cut out the center of the gamma lid this will fit perfectly. I classify to 1/4 inch and then run either my 6inch goldrat with the dream mat or my green mountain gold trap. The goldtrap is amazing but requires more flow than the dream mat.

      A local pa geologist and his dad put out a book years ago on the gold in central pa.with maps and everything. He used to hold a 1 day pa gold event in a park in york. Neat to get together with others. One guy from Bloomsburg would bring about 3 ounces. He had a mini dredge he'd use out in the susquehanna up there. I've found nice chunks in Potter county too.

    • @pennsylvaniagoldhunter
      @pennsylvaniagoldhunter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t have a specific pan. I like garret for durability but honestly the pans job is simple so most will be sufficient. I’ve panned sand bare handed. Gold hits the bottom quick, just don’t over fill the pan

      I’ll admit this particular creek seems to be a little bit better producer than others I’ve been too. This little streak I’m on is really good, but this creek seems to have pockets like this scattered all through it.

    If I were a landowner I wouldn't want people coming in and digging up my banks looking for gold.
    How do you go about getting permission to do this?

    • @pennsylvaniagoldhunter
      @pennsylvaniagoldhunter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was initially invited to participate, then as I worked upstream I introduced myself to a land owner, gave them a gold pan and asked permission. They said yes and asked me to teach them too

  • @michaelmays9292

    Be nice to know the weight. If I'm going to take my time to watch a gold video or really anyone there going to want to know the weight you got

    • @pennsylvaniagoldhunter
      @pennsylvaniagoldhunter  ปีที่แล้ว

      I get where you’re coming from, but unless an extraordinary stroke of luck, there’s not enough to register a weight using shovel and a pan. Perhaps a full scale bucket loader and wash plant would yield a surprising weight. Probably not enough to merit an operation but certainly weighable amount. I often wander why sand and gravel companies don’t try to catch gold as a bi-product

    • @pennsylvaniagoldhunter
      @pennsylvaniagoldhunter  ปีที่แล้ว

      In addition I got about 4 grams all summer. The thought was I’d grind through consistently and eventually get to little more than half an ounce but unfortunately the summer came and went without enough prospecting
