Unfortunately, coal is the goal. When the mine was active, I doubt they halted operations to clean out a nice pocket. That would be torture for me have to rip through the crystal rock and throw it away...
Hate the thought. Just like the old loggers chopped down massive cedar, redwood ash hickory walnut, the whole list. High dollar wood all perfect tight growth huge straight perfect saw timber and veneer. Majority used as paper. Sad.
There used to be a farmer over in lancaster county. After he tilled the first time he'd let the central pa rock and mineral club go and pull out all the quartz they could find. 4inch singles. It's fun to find quartz and pyromorphite in pa amongst all the calcite.
I live about 2 hours away from McAdoo I'm waiting for warm weather to go mining there. are there any like spots in McAdoo that you recommend or is the crystals justt kinda all over the place there?

Find a nice hefty chisel so you can take larger more complete specimens people will pay a lot morw for a large one too🙃
