  • Nearby small creek, with 96 degrees plus 90 % humidity. New shovel, with great features. As always, the act of looking for gold, is more rewarding than just finding it !

Thanks for the comments. Anytime you have time for local prospecting, let me know. Sharing the experience is always better, than alone.
I head for New Hampshire again next week, and looking forward to getting good AU.

You should look at the GPAA ( Gold Prospectors Association of America) or Google gold prospecting shows / seminars.
Ohio hosts one every year, and the West Coast cities have dozens.

      Hi Kenneth.
Thanks for the response on my video. Pennsylvania in regards to other states is poor in gold prospecting.
People have complained to me about not showing my clean outs, most of the time the amount of gold is minuscule, and hardly noticeable in the pan.
I do most cleaning in my basement, with light, time and good conditions for me.
      Thanks.

I heard there is good gold in Altoona PA because it is in the middle of the Appalachians. All the years of water running down into Altoona has created a lots of gold but is kept secret, Commonwealth says you can't claim the gold you find, that's an old law, lol

If you Google Earth and find any traces of alluvial till locations ( Glacier actions) the AU content is always higher. The glaciers shaved the gold from up north, and brought it down south to us.
      Regards.

Another fun video ! I have a couple of the calsluice drop riffle sluices, when I was ready to buy one of their trommels, I couldn't find them online. Now I see they are offering a handsluice. OH well I'll have to find an alternative trommel

I have never used any other pans, than the plastic ones from various companies. What is the advantage of the steel pan ?

been a while since your last video. good to see you back out on creek. I bought one of those bully shovels as well. only lasted 2 digs. and no I didn't use it as a pry bar. I have a short video on my channel of what it looked like after. I agree with you on the small pan. seems like with larger pan it's harder to control the water as well.

I do clean up work at home, owing to the small and fine nature of the PA gold.

You should see if your wagon is water tight. I bought a liner for mine that is and pan into that. It's one less thing to carry.

Many streams in Pennsylvania have gold present. It's small quantities compared to other states, but still there to discover. Visit the Delaware Balley Gold Prospectors page on Facebook. I attend these meetings on several streams and creeks in the local area. Free membership and plenty of people to help you on gold prospecting.
It the best hobby in the world, and gives you plenty of exercise.

Hello , are you still prospecting in the Wilkes-Barre area? I haven't seen you post videos in ages. Anyway if so I wanted to turn you on to an area off of rt29 in the Tunkhannock area. it's the road side rest area on bowmans creek . I've been finding very small bits when crevicing in that area and I was thinking of purchasing a sluice. I just thought I'd tell you about it because you've got the equipment for that kind of area.also if you go onto Google Earth and checkout the area almost right next to the Tunkhannock Bridge there is a very large bedrock section that is easily accessible and you can park right next to the bridge right on that side. I again have found very small amounts when crevicing but there is a lot of gravel there just waiting on a guy like you to come along. there are very few of us in our area crazy enough to be out there doing this so I thought I'd tell you about those two locations. hope you can give them a try one day and GOOD LUCK ! stay safe and Blessed Be

      Hi Jeremy:
Still prospecting, but doing fewer videos. If you wanted to prospect together, in the Bowmans Creek area, let me know. I have a couple of sluices, that require no classifying, just shovel in material, and the water flow, and underflow action separate the heavies. Let me know if any dates are good for you. I live about 30 minutes from Tunkhannock, so Bow,Ana Creek is a great location.
      Arthur

Is there much gold mining in the UK? I have been to the UK a few times but not to search for gold.

      Hi Kenneth:
I never prospected in the UK , but there is good gold in the North and Scotland.
The best results I have ever had were in New Hampshire, and it is a pleasure to visit there.

Not arrowheads, but buckshots, lead weights, and fishing lures yes. Also semi precious mineral stones in some cases.

Believe I ordered it online thru Lowes. The additional grab handle I purchased is the best part of any shovel you can buy.

Welcome to Pennsylvania, and hope you get settled fast. Check out the Delaware Valley Gold Prospectors club on Facebook. I am a member since 2016, and have profited from it. It’s free, meets most months, and has access to 6 waters in the Immediate Northeast. This video you saw was on the Allentown area. Let me know if you want to meet one of these weekends, and visit some of he local waters.
      Arthur.

It pays to look at maps that display glacial features. Many times times the placer gold was washed down with glaciers, and the rock deposits.
Check out your local topography with Google, and look for early lead or gold mining mentions in your area.
Are their any prospecting clubs in your region ?
      If so join them.
If I prospected for money, I would have been broke years ago,

Here on PA you seldom see chunky gold in the sluice riffles. When I travel to New Hampshire, you can see small pickers in the sluice.
PA gold is flour gold / Placer gold that has been ground down, on its way down south, from the alluvial tills.
