It would be interesting to find out if any QB with so little playing time in college was drafted so high at such great cost and actually was a success. Even if you left off the last two items, I doubt there are very many that had less playing time and were drafted either first or second. Mitch Trubisky had a rise? I always thought he was just insanely overrated. I mean, if i recall correctly, the guy couldn't even do a silent count when he got to Chicago. The only reason Mitch Trubisky had a "rise" is because it's physically impossible for the Chicago Bears to have a good QB. So they drafed him instead of Watson and Mahomes.
Great dude we wanted him to succeed after Chicago ya know. I should id myself as a Bears fan. But my god, I've never seen a QB run out of bounds behind the l.o.s. on crucial 3rd and 4th behind the l.o.s. That Thursday night Packers loss was rough, actually both season openers to GB sucked. Good dude really, but that alone doesn't win. I like your retrospective. 👍 how'd that Texas tech QB do by the way? Lol anyhoo✌
As a Bears fan, there really never was a rise to begin with. We were always trying to convince ourselves he was the guy, and he’s just not and never was a QB1
The popular excuse is to blame the Bears - but how do you explain his failure after them? He can't read a defense. Many people believe he couldn't even throw to his left with accuracy/velocity. Similar to Justin Fields, Mitch's success was limited to scripted drives and when the coaches would take the training wheels off they'd fall over or just take off running, nearly every time. It's true that Mitch should have sat for a year and maybe that would have improved his chances. _MAYBE._ But I've been watching football long enough to know that some QBs have _"it",_ and 80% don't. Why don't we hear anyone blaming the 49ers for Trey Lance's failure? Because after 2yrs, the 9ers admitted he's incapable of playing on his own so they cut him loose. The Bears should have done the same with Mitch but they're just so desperate for a star QB that they try to make each QB they bring in _"THE ONE"._ Justin Fields had/has many flaws - and that's why he fell so far in his draft behind the likes of future HoFers Zach Wilson and Trey Lance (🙄🤣) and didn't cut it with the Bears. If the Bears have a problem, it's that they hold on too long to unworthy players.
2018 did not have weapons, the RB was 5'6; and their WR1 would be a WR2 at best on any other team. the bears never helped mitch, or play the offense to his strengths.

12:43 you can make the case, that Matt Canada's scheme sucks aswell!
I watch him from day one wasn't a bears fan but I noticed the offense was 1-2 bang ( very similar to russell wilson this year) Mitch couldn't really do progressions which was shocking but after a deep dive it made sense Nagy had a smoke screen offense meaning 2 or possibly 3 routes where just there they were meant to actually be thrown to... so guess what defensive coaches figured out something MITCH one had 1 side reads left or right. 50% of the field was dummy routes boom mitch regression starts or was it just who he was IDK but Nagy was exiled also so maybe Nagy was def part of the problem and so was mitch neva moving to a pro-style was a bigger issue
Exact same issue with Fields. Only difference was Fields is a much slower processor leading to deer in the headlights looks.
You missed the Tampa bay game where Mitch came in and played great and won against Tom Brady, the ravens game where he got way too aggressive and threw 3 interceptions, the Carolina game where he played good in 2022-2023 season, you also missed the only bright spot of 2023-2024 where he came in and played decent against the cardinals, Mitch needs a game time reps to get better and confidence of which he’s lacking both
Just look at it like this Mitch Howell do I have to keep going on
Rise? What rise?
I remember watching this guy in college and thinking he was gonna be a damn good starting pro QB.
What rise did he have? I don't remember one.
Being a top 3 pick in the draft after playing one college season…
@@SheGotSports Oh that was it?
Can’t blame the quarterback to much, when your line doesn’t block or protect you for shit.
NVP's never die
Nagy caving into the criticism in the mainstream media is what ruined GOATBISKY He threw him under the bus.
What you fail to mention is that shoulder injury was a torn left labrum...same injury Mayfield suffered two years later. Difference is Trubisky just shut up and played. Nagy threw him under the bus, then no showed a meeting with him post season....Nagy ruined him period.
This vid has a rough like/dislike ratio, from analyzing the comments a bit try to focus on providing original analysis instead of reciting a course of events. Best of luck with your channel!
Good thing they didn't get Watson. What a POS.
Lol anyhoo✌
Hed be a good starter in the ufl
As a Bears fan, there really never was a rise to begin with. We were always trying to convince ourselves he was the guy, and he’s just not and never was a QB1
we ruined him & fields but won’t be ruining caleb mf williams.
Hands and Fallen completely yet he's still in NFL quarterback and that's more than 99.9 of us can say he makes millions just sitting on the bench
2018 did not have weapons, the RB was 5'6; and their WR1 would be a WR2 at best on any other team. the bears never helped mitch, or play the offense to his strengths.
There was a rise? Worked on me, I'll watch
Being the third overall pick and first QB off the board after playing just one college season is a pretty crazy rise imo
@@SheGotSportsGotcha. To me that's more 'fall of the Bears' but I'm an old Bears fan 😢
@@SheGotSportswell he wasn’t a third pick and not so much of a rise. This just seemed up the last years lol 😂
Marquise Williams - is no longer even in professional football. He was drafted by Green Bay and never played in the NFL. How sad is this?
Jay Cutler probably knew a thing or two about being behind a bad offensive line!!!!
Mitch should have been drafted in Round 3. He was always going to be a backup.
I liked him still better than Pickett
pace built a good team it just didnt pan out with his kickers and qbs
Cody parky cost us a lot of wins.
Can you do the rise and fall of Mac jones
