Blackledge was the 7th overall pick and the second quarterback taken. By the way, they were wrong abut Eason leading the Patriots to that 1985 Super Bowl. Eason got hurt that year, and veteran QB Steve Grogan stepped into the starting lineup and got the Pats to the Super Bowl. He Tore his ACL in his knee. This would possibly effect his running ability after, but wouldn't effect his ability throwing. This is what rule changes in the league have helped facilitate is QB's who didn't have good ability with their arms to be compensated to transition & help them make it in the league as the NFL had a new marketing direction they wanted to shift to.
I was never into getting too excited for great prospect rookies in the NFL. Even if they show great play in their rookie season, the real test happens when there's more tape of the player.
