yeah, it's sort of telling that guys like Darnold and Baker were also drafted into terrible situations, but made the most of their second chances because they have the mental resilience and hunger to get better. Allen could've been that guy too, if he cared enough to put in the work. if you can't soak up Tom Brady's knowledge and take advantage in a QB-friendly system immediately after in SF, i doubt there was ever going to be a situation that could pull the best out of him.

I don’t think Josh Rosen was given a fair chance in the NFL he basically went from a terrible team to another terrible team. However, his superiority complex doesn’t surprise me considering both his parents were successful and he was a tennis phenom. He had people l his entire childhood praising him and telling him he was special and it seems like it went to his head.

    1) Appearing on camera. Slats a good move when trying to build recognition and a brand.
    2) Holding a mic. Brett Kollman recently started doing this and it’s cool in a nerdy sort of way.
    3) Having a more complex take on why something happened and recognizing the factors beyond the player’s control. A lot of analysts neglect this. That you highlighted Arizona’s O-line difficulties vs. Chicago’s monster defense gives you a ton of credibility vs others wise arguments boil down to “Josh bad.”

Josh Allen started off with possibly the worst roster in the NFL and the results were predictable. His mentor was Nathen Peterman-he of 4TDs to 13 Ints lifetime. He also had a defensive coach. The difference was that his OC was Brian Daboll, the ownership was committed, and most of all Allen worked his butt off. I don't think any of those things applied to Rosen.

He never learned about the real world because he never had to because the bubble that resides over Orange County won’t pop. I’ve been there and it’s scary how much materialism reigns in that place. Everyone is obsessed with the trappings of success and wealth and slightly out doing each other in the race to the upper middle.

One of the biggest reason for QB busts in the NFL in my opinion is they get drafted to teams and then the team expects them to be as good as their college days. Not have them mentored by QBs that have more experience then them because College Ball and NFL are two completely different sports.
So they get fucked then have noone to help them and boom they are the next laughing stock of the NFL.
Case in point Jimmy G before his injury was looking like he'd be a franchise QB because of being under Tom Brady.
Guys like Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen were put in on teams without any real experienced QB so they dont have a mentor to help them learn the NFL ways.

When the Cardinals drafted Rosen, I remember my dad, right after watching Rosen's infamous speech at the Draft, saying, 'This kid isn't going to last.' To this day, he still rants about how dumb drafting Rosen was, but if you ask him now, he'll tell you there was a much bigger issue that happened a season later-a certain head coach was hired.

Rosen is one of those guys that would have really benefitted by being on the Pats or Chiefs bench. He went from bad situation to bad situation and never got a chance to stabilize. Seeing how Rodgers is mentoring Wilson on the Jets, it seems like that is the kind of thing Rosen really needed but never got. Dont think its any surprise that Murray, Tua, and Lance are all on shaky ground now.

I watched mini videos in the past but yours truly with remarkable explained his timeline in personality in a miraculous way I really tell you put a lot of work in this and for that I am forever grateful. My thoughts of Josh Rosen he was giving everything in college parents had a lot of money. As soon as he made those words "9 mistakes ahead of me", line I knew he was doomed. But if you look at Josh Allen worked his tail to even have colleges interested in him. And we all know the outcome of both of those players. Thank you just earned a sub.

Lots of smarter (not to mention highly-paid) football minds than yours thought the same thing. LOTS of college athletes have something akin to a “superiority complex” considering they’ve been treated like gods for most of their lives.
I agree- when a mix of ego/hype collides with early failure: it can mentally destroy players forever. See Ryan Leaf for the most egregious sample among QBs. Carson Wentz getting injured and watching Nick Foles win a SB & get a freakin’ statue after what was looking like an MVP campaign for Wentz.
Sometimes, it works out. Look at how “bad” the optics were for Eli Manning. Refusing to go to the Chargers, and struggling early. Things turned out pretty well for him, I’d say.

Rosen made it pretty clear even before he was drafted that football wasn't necessarily the most important thing to him, which is, for better or worse, just something that's impossible to accept if you're an NFL GM or coach. Once he got to the league, it was pretty obvious that the passion just wasn't there from him to become a great. But honestly, good for him. Seems like a guy who knows what he wants from life.

    • @kyletucker3811
      @kyletucker3811 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I mean it actually reads to me like he had any passion beaten out of him. If a coach doesn't even want to answer a question like "why am I doing this in this way?", what the heck is the point of being there? That's not a bad question, it helps you understand why it needs to be applied that way which leads to deeper understanding of the system. Combine that with the line issues, it's easy to see how he lost passion.
