It's absolutely f*cking absurd how TERRIBLE Uber Inc. has become over the years. I used to f*cking love this god forsaken company for what it allowed me to do; work freely at any time that I wish and make great money. This was 9 years ago, though. Over the past ~4 years especially, Uber has proven itself to be an absolute piece of complete rubbish that deserves to crash. I hope they go bankrupt. Everyone, sell your stocks all at the same time. Uber is truly a horrendous company to drive for in 2024.

If they want us to have a high acceptance rate, they need to pay us more. These Uber Eats trips are just not worth it. They are paying us $2.00 or $3.00 for a 22 mile trip ! And it's usually 2 deliveries ! Then they pull the "CUSTOMER REDUCED THE TIP AFTER DELIVERY" SCAM ! So I made $17.00 for 2 deliveries, 22 miles away and it cost me $10.00 IN GAS !!!! And that's including expected tip.
and you accepted those trips, which is why they can continue getting away with such nonsense. Because of YOU!
Them saying they let the customer do this is illegal and a class action lawsuit needs to be formed based on it. No other platforms do this bc it literally and legally violates their own terms of service. These types will pay every dollar reduced a multi million dollar lawsuit is coming soon dara.

I've noticed that too. If it's slow one way to get pings is to set your destination and you'll get a rush of pings going in the other direction. haha.

My friends you’re beating a dead horse. I just got hired by a delivery company today. I get a decent wage, guaranteed income, with benefits, and the best part is I am using a company vehicle. Uber and Lyft will officially be supplemental income now because I just can’t do it anymore with the rising cost of everything and the no guarantee of my daily earnings. Summer is just so slow this year in my city it’s killing everyone who drives. After expenses the math just isn’t mathing anymore. I will never give up my dream of being a small business owner, but for now I must shift my thinking and do what’s best for me. 5-6 12 hour shifts a week on my expense just to live somewhat comfortably isn’t doable anymore. Think about your health people and think about your car. they will make you drive over close to 300 miles a day just to make around 235-250$ if you’re lucky with a few tips. It’s 🐕 💩.

@@Luiscabada1966 I’m a Sacramento/SFO/Bay Area vet of 8 years and I’m just done. I’ve been through 2 cars with this company and have a decent savings, but nothing too extravagant. I tried getting into some other business ventures, but unfortunately it just didn’t work out for me. I will never give up my pursuit for freedom, but right now I need to get my house in order before I decide to make investments. Good luck to you and always remember there are plenty of opportunities and people out there that are willing to pay you what you’re worth. You just have to put in the work!

I’m only 29 years old and I will not waste one more year with Uber or Lyft at a full time position. Drivers need to wake up and realize that they are smart and capable of great things if they can stick it out with Uber or Lyft for more than 2 years. I went through 2 cars with these companies. Enough is enough. College and a stable job is around the corner and I’m excited for a new chapter. Hard work and dedication can move mountains! I hope you’re able to find something outside of the courier industry as well.

Upfront details should be displayed no matter the acceptance % rate and why isn't it law? Because the law makers are not on our side.All independent contractors should be given all the details about the work before being able to decide to accept the temp work or not! Each ride is a different job every time and all details should be specified including time,pay and distance.Drivers should sue this sh*t Uber company just for the threatening emails alone!!!

I am one of those 4700 cases that is waiting on Lyft to get back with me on reactivation. They got my summons and small claims lawsuit a week ago but no response from them.
Lyft sucks worse than Uber, they are a woke nuthouse and will deactivate in a second

Must be in states other than CA. I'm between 10% and 20% and I still see my upfront details. I will say that my experience in doing Uber in TX is they will decrease the amount of rides they give you with a low acceptance rate. I sat around for hours waiting for rides and didn't know why. After a few days I called customer service and they told me I wasn't getting more rides because my acceptance rate was too low. It was around 10% at the time.

I've experienced the same thing and didn't know why until I read your comment. So have you brought your accepting rate up and has anything changed?
In NJ we only get Direction and drop off minutes if over 85%. So if I fall below 85% , I won't accept request over 4 miles away and when I get there I cancel if I don't like where they're are going or how far. They want to start screaming because they going to miss their flight. I tell them to call Uber and tell them start paying drivers more money and this will not happen. Sorry catch the bus

Most of Virginia is the same way. Over 85 and you get time of trip and how far away it is, nothing else. This covers all areas I've been in except Richmond. You have no idea what you're getting until you get there and no idea of pay until the ride is completed.
Areas that do that include Roanoke, Staunton, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, and Danville. Everywhere between too.
I agree! I didn't know I was on some ridiculous "trial" of the "gold" tier. And it allowed me to see the "direction" I was as going and how long the trip would be but I still got the occasional JFK and NY trips that I without hesitation canceled on the spot. I got bumped down to the basic tier and you can't see ANYTHING. Ya'll not bamboozling me into taking unfair wages. Then I'm driving 45 mins back + toll into a zone I can actually work in for a BS $35 trip to JFK. SMH Uber is a piece of SHHHHH company that I hope goes bankrupt, they really are greedy with ZERO care about anyone's profit but their own!!!

in Cali, both uber and lyft show destination, distance, time, the route on the map and the total pay, by default all the time.

I'm glad it did that for you guys and Cali, because in New Jersey they definitely don't do any of that. Out here, on the lowest tier, pretty much can only see how far the passenger is. You can't see anything else so I don't know how much I'm getting paid, where I'm going, nothing important other than how long it's going to take me to pick up the passenger is actually quite insane.
My acceptance rate is 32% because they bombard me with no tip orders or high mileage low tip offers, give me fair rates for miles and I'll accept everything you give me, but we all know....that never, ever happens.

Uber pulled a a new one on me Sunday. Don't know if it's happened to anyone else but I only had 8 1/2 hours left to qualify for half stipend. Even though I only do Uber part time I usually make enough active hours to qualify easily. But since I wanted to get to 8 I started out around 9am. Sunday usually good for a lot of people going to and from church, picking up cars from bars etc... NOTHING came in. I was sitting in parking lot in Toluca Lake listening to podcast when I realized it had been almost an hour with no ping. At 10 hours in I only had 5 active hours. I literally went shopping with the app on and didn't get a ping. My last fare was about a quarter to twelve and I had 11 minutes left on my stipend counter. I finished the ride at 12:04 and checked to see if I had made it to 8 hours, but it was already reset to zero for the next period. No notification that I had made the stipend. I think they actually timed me out of making it. I used to see this when they had quests and you only had a couple fares left to make it, but I've never seen this with the stipend. Has anyone else, or am I just being paranoid?
NOPE it's not an illusion. Lyft does the same crap. When I'm just a few trips from completing my quest so I can get paid my bonus. Next thing I know I start getting trips going to BFE right outside the city limit to the middle of nowhere where there are HARDLY any trips especially coming back to the city. Then the App starts giving me trips 6-8-10 miles away that pays $4 - $8 . So eventually I turn the App off and just go home because I'm not playing their BS game.

I stopped even signing onto Lyft because they are bugging! I don't know what normal person in their right mind would be OK with driving anyone anywhere for three dollars?
I seriously believe if they actually do this, it will lead to more people just giving up on Uber. This is crazy.
I don't understand how company cannot provide you with a vehicle, not provide you with gas, not provide you with insurance, not provide you with maintenance but tell you that you have to take a four dollar fare because if you don't take them, you won't get any other good fares. Ever since I picked my rides, I don't get anything and then when I do get some things they take that away because they think I'm not accepting enough. It's literally the definition of insanity. How dare they actually suggest that we accept anything just in order to stay active on their platform. There's no way that they consider us independent because this is dependency.

I'm being punished and I can see it before I use to get request back to back when I was in the tops 20% regardless if it was trash request or not this is in LAX, now I have to wait longer in LAX just to receive a request and normally it's always trash requests
In the UK they don’t let us know what our acceptance rate is. We can however see all upfront trip details exact drop off location.
I was deactivated from Uber 2 years ago concerning safety issue but I have no clue what they are talking about and when I asked if they have proof they bulk up and send me a template saying we understand your concerns on the decision and not able to reactivate

.. that would be UE. With the stack orders and just paying out for 1 order ..there was a story on the news when stack orders came out .. Uber was bragging how great it was for the customers .. however maybe not the driver .. I'm in South Florida.. there's an option to cancel out the second order of the stack , but your payout is cut in half when you do that .. 🤔 smh.

Here in Massachusetts will need to show trip detail don't matter acceptance rate . They got away for now because the $32.50 a hour is not enough on active hours
UBER has all the drivers in an employee mindset that allows them to get away with this scare tactic! When you are a true IC YOU FEAR NO ONE! BECAUSE YOU CALL THE SHOTS! If you drive for UBER you most likely are doing it employee style= You have no say in the fare/fair.
I have a 5% AR on Uber and I never had a problem. I just made $150 in 4 hrs.
I never hear anything about the military bases. I don't have a pass to deliver food, or to give rides there, but I get offers all the time for the base.(usually the better offers,) This will affect my acceptance rate severely, I also have to pay close attention to where the order is going, once I accept I can't see where it is going, and I have to wait until I pick up the order. Then I have to cancel the order and the next day they will accuse me of fraud. When I drive I don't get information about where I am going. Needless to say, I don't work much for them.

Rather new driver & I've tried keeping above 85% but it dropped to 82 cuz I said no to some long drives that I knew would be a no-rider deadhead return. Now I have zero info on rides to make an informed decision. Last week I had ride at airport very late at night. Rider was already in car when I slid the bar and saw the route. 65 minutes, 45 miles. Took the young lady but was pissed. Then drove home 65 minutes, 45 miles. That is time/miles that Uber has a moral obligation to pay. But they are an immoral, unethical company. Shameful their leadership lacks having even one person with character and integrity.

I've been getting these threats as well. Currently at 22% AR, 17% Cancellations. I do feel like I get alot more shorter trashy rides and half the ride requests than a month of two ago. I have no way to prove this and maybe it's due to the less demand or more drivers... either way... Regardless, cherry picking has been working for me.
The 2 best days of my life was when I got accepted to drive for Uber and the day that I got deactivated. I now drive for Lyft and I never get any type of threatening messages like this. I do get kicked off-line when I do not accept two rides in a row however, I just go back online.
I don't understand how you can accept a trip offer as an independent contractor without the trip details. Does an independent contractor software developer accept corporate jobs without knowing what they will be doing and how much they will be paid?
Unless you're provided a car with all expenses paid, Uber is 100% not worth wasting your time for as a job. Uber's fares are just enough for a salary. However, once expenses are factored in, your salary is almost gone.
Whenever enters in Ventura county towards Thousand Oaks the trip details disappear. They say you need to have more then 5 out of 10 last accepted rides to show the details. I am sure LA drivers getting my point

As of July 1st in South Africa, Bolt (Taxify) will hide fare and trip details from drivers whose acceptance rate falls below 50% and driver score falls below 85%.
Also it’s so stupid how riders can rate us and we can’t do nothing about it because I had a person a female and she didn’t even tell me I was gonna be picking up her boyfriend. She said she drives her Uber. I asked her if she could please do it under your guest next time so his name is on the app and she said she shares the app with him and I ended up taking him and I should’ve just canceled and then he gave me two stars just for that and Uber just let that happen when I didn’t do anything wrong. I should’ve reported her for letting someone use her account. It’s just ridiculous. How uber doesn’t give a shit.
When I was driving, I was in the upper 90s, I rarely cancel unless time to pickup is outrageous. Any pickup that takes 10+ minutes to get to ridership = automatic disqualification.
Uber holds the cards. People have NO power because of this factor. The market is saturated with an endless supply of drivers. Most in our area our foreigners who don't have any options. Uber can do what they want. The question is ....do you have other work options?

In my market DD is the preferred service. UE was good a few years ago but I have seen an 80% drop in orders being offered. UE has gotten progressively worse since the numerous lawsuits and there is an occasional order that is worth taking, but that is it. I refuse to take cheap orders and it is hard for me to comprehend a mind that will deliver to lose money. There are days I don't even deliver for UE and still make bank + gas with other apps. They are just inviting government regulation, which any normal mind would want to avoid.
It appears to me their driver philosophy is based upon the business principle "There is a sucker born every minute!" As a new Uber driver (2 mos) my enthusiasm to drive for UBER has all but vanished. Have never gotten a complete trip ping request showing miles and addresses of origin and destination. Not a clue where the hell they were sending me and often ended up 20 miles away from my preferred 8 mile radius. Lost my introductory GOLD status, or because I am below 85% acceptance, or for whatever reason. Now my trip ping screen gives me NO RELEVANT data to decide if the trip is worth it! I refuse to drive for them and neither should a vast majority of drivers as it simply does not pay (once you determine your costs of driving YOUR car)!

What if they say it's in the terms and service you agreed to when you use the app
Easy for me: if they don't provide time to pickup, then time to drop off, $$ then I don't accept. I only look at these 3 things...1: $$ 2: time to pickup 3: time to dropoff. I don't look at miles or anything else, I want to know how much I am getting for the time I will drive and if it's not within my range then I don't accept the ride. My current accept rate is 45% and I don't give 3 shts what Uber thinks about it.

In that case, are they going back to the old rates? How can they call that "Upfront Fares" ? I guess they prefer bad customer service... when you pull up and tell the passenger you're not able to take them to their destination. I drive PT at nights and only drive in certain areas. I don't take far trips anymore. I have a regular FT job. I HOPE THIS DOES NOT COME TO MY CITY! If so, I may just have to stay on the Lyft platform.

A contract must be so interpreted as to give effect to the mutual intention of the parties as it existed at the time of contracting, so far as the same is ascertainable and lawful. How can there be MUTUAL anything if no upfront details?

No, as in order for you to be part of uber/lyft, arbitration is mandatory. So no arbitration, no case.
You are correct - you are an independent contractor. You were accepted as an independent contractor to perform certain duties; i.e. providing transportation for customers. If you are failing to perform these duties, they can deactivate you for not fulfilling your side of the contract. Independent Contractors simply giving the riders another alternative to save money and KEEP that money they are spending in their OWN COMMUNITY. The reason why drivers are fighting back is because of the deception of the app companies having way too much CONTROL over the drivers, which makes them "employees," and Uber is afraid of being hit with ALL THE RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT WOULD MAKE THEM PAY BACK THE STATES SINCE THESE APPS ARE NOT CONTRIBUTING BACK INTO THE ECONOMIES THEY SUPPOSEDLY CLAIM TO HELP WITH ALL THEIR TECHNOLOGY "SERVICES." Their "technology" has run amuck. It's out of control. Not the common sense of riders and drivers. Does that help you understand better now, who is stealing from who? Riders are fed up, too!

having an 85% acceptance rate will mean either 1 you dont make shit and get a bunch of rides where you drive forever for pennies or keep gettin rides with ppl with hella low ass ratings and make the trip a living hell no thanks not about that life ... Uber can try this shit if they want too but they'll only be hurtin themselves bc they need the drivers ....... unless they're doin this cuz they bout to replace us anyways with computer automated vehicles
