Hell i was about to take a $7.21 lyft ride here in Springfield as i was preparing to go back to Boston. The ride was only going 2.5 miles. As soon as the girl added a stop on the route before i took off. Immediately i canceled. No way i making two stops to make $7.21.😂😂😂
I don't accept multiple stop rides because riders use them to trick us into accepting higher offers, only to cancel a stop in the middle of a ride so we get paid less than was advertised.

Literally did a ride from central NJ to New Haven CT at 5:30AM. A 2 hour ride. Family all slept throughout the trip. $2 tip. I instantly went back and gave them a 1 star just out of pettiness.
They are not obligated to tip you, Uber/lyft should be paying you a decent fair
They tipped bro, not a real tip but in terms of the price they paid & it all went to Uber/Lyft! They definitely paid around $200 minimum for the ride & likely assumed you got most of it! These apps charge riders so high that they can’t tip! If you pay $25 for a cheeseburger would you tip ? Of course not!
A $3 ride is usually a grocery run or someone with a ton of clothes at a laudromat. Get ready to do some heavy lifting for that garbage. Decline!!

I do deliveries on a motorcycle and won't even touch those 3 to 4 dollars orders with a stick. Not even going 1 mile or less.

LYFT does not show an option when passenger does not show within the allotted 5 minutes and you have to cancel for a no-show. To drive 5-8 minutes to a pickup then wait 5 minutes, and forced to cancel due to whatever other choices they give and get $2 is BS. You end up losing around 15+ minutes by the time you get back to where you were. For $2?

Yet, many passengers are telling me that their maps show their areas are saturated with drivers. I heard this myself from a pax on Friday night.
Yes especially in summer and xmas time when teachers and college students are off and looking for a quick side hustle. However, they don't understand the logistics and pricing strategy. U/L knows this and sends cheaper and cheaper fares (likely not cheaper for consumer) knowing that the new drivers will just take them. By the time each of those new drivers make 50-100 rides they will realize how little they made while taking from the rest. I'm all for a free economy supply/demand, but the companies are taking advantage knowing that the new drivers probably don't understand the money.

If EVERYBODY would stop accepting the $3 fares they would go away. Uber threatens people with a low acceptance rate but if EVERYBODY is doing it then who are they gonna punish, and how? "I'm Spartacus!" (that won't make sense if you haven't seen the movie, so watch the movie) But the bigger problem remains: Uber is regularly keeping 50% to 75% of the fare now.

I realize this within a few months that they’re getting way too much of the fair because I’m responsible for everything all it is is an Internet platform
Uber/Lyft genuinely think they are a transportation company & that’s why they feel entitled to our money! But in all reality they are simply a rider/driver matching company, they match passengers with drivers… No different from what Expedia, kayak or Priceline are for hospitality companies, they match you with the true businesses that have what you want! You would never hear kayak or Expedia say they are a hotel company & take 65% of what the customers pay for a hotel room! Uber/Lyft should barely be taking 20% for matching passengers with actual drivers! Us drivers are more of transportation companies than Uber/Lyft ever will be! We provide the transportation vehicle, do the work/driving, pay for the gas, pay our car notes & insurance, pay all maintenance fees, pay for cleaning & detailing & much more! In the beginning they understood this & that’s why they paid us way more but somewhere down the line their heads got too big & they became greedy & starting biting the hand that feeds them! Doordash too! 20% of the fare is the most they should ever take & even that is more than generous! Uber matches more than 15 million trips per day & if the average ride is $10 then that’s $2 per trip times 15 million equaling $30 million per day or $10.9 billion a year if they did it that way which means they could still be extremely profitable with 20% of the fare! They are lying about not being profitable! They are loaded with money, it’s not our problem if they mess that money up! 80% of the fare would change our lives allowing us to work less & make 2-3 x more than we do now! These apps will fall soon when a 3rd player comes into the picture & understands these points I made!

I created and run a boutique private transfer company and I pay 80/20 - 80% GOES TO THE DRIVER AND THEIR VEHICLE and I'm the one who gets the 20% for facilitating the job for them (i.e. I am now what is called a 'Booking Agent'). This is what UBER is, and the fact that they have the banking 'upside-down' infuriates me!!! Yes, I get barely anything but I'm getting a little and helping keep my drivers employed! Do better UBER!!! 😑

NYC over 130 k drivers they will feel the wrath of the drivers. Drivers take safety risks, pay is not increasing yet the cost of living is. Most vehicles in NYC are rental which are by Uber partners or businesses affiliated they are charging drivers arm and a leg for cars. Hence 60 to 70% goes in work expenses. Also on surcharge, platform fees, NYC taxes and other taxes.

I haven't driven for Uber for two months now. The price that's shown on the Uber app is insane. Like, Uber wants you to drive really far for shitty pay. Not only that they send you these laughable challenges that are 30 rides for $5. I haven't seen a surge in my area in a while. I feel bad for those that have to do this full-time because they have to work their butt off to make what they've made years ago. Each year,I notice Uber's take rate is getting worse and worse. The well has dried up with Uber. it's best to find a W2 job or try to do private rides.

Lyft started the bonus tiers here again this weekend. You know the ones, pick your goal, complete 10 rides get an extra $15. 20 for $40. That bs. It's always my experience I get more $4 offers that would be $6, $8 that would be $10. Then when you get close to the bonus I get cut off. I won't drive for Lyft when there's that.

You just waster half a gallon or more in gas. Depending on where you are that's probably about $2 just in gas, just to pick someone up.
I just had a 4 dollar trip. I took it. It was a blind women. Really blind like cannot see at all. I was gracious and helped her. The solution here is to re pave how we are paid. 2.50 a mile. And 1 dollar a minute. That ride would have been about 10$. We need a rideshare union.

Took three deliveries all day today. Not driving 10 miles one way for 4-7$. Not only that but the traffic is horrible so that trip is over an hour to get back to where I came from. I made the mistake the other day but it was my fault. I agreed to deliver to food and if I say I will do it than I will do it. Next time I won’t agree to that offer though. I loss money on that trip.
This is so true this is even going on in my city of San Bernardino I mean the Inland Empire I'm sure all of Southern California even going as far as Los Angeles Uber and Lyft should be responsible for better pay this is not right we're the ones that are putting gas out of our own money and the maintenance on our vehicles that's why customers do not want to tip. 😢

CA passed that stupid law (no offense) that makes a mandatory rate. The thing is cost of living goes up, inflation goes up, insurance goes up, gas prices go up, maintenance costs go up... and you are frozen at that rate set by government. I think that's a bad recipe.

It's very easy for all senior drivers to do the math between what we used to make and current pay
Used to be $ 0.65 per mile + 0.2226 per minute, and what both Uber and Lyft did was very easy to take the minute pay away from the trip, so now we are making $0.65 per mile only.

Idk....I take uber daily to work. My ride I around $27, my driver showed me he got $25 of it. We talked the whole 30 minute trip and he showed his total earnings for last year and he made $110,000. He says other drivers asked how he made that much and he replied he maintains an excellent rating and driving everyday full-time simply. Go figure.....

That’s rare, and could be that you are in a busy market. I have NEVER made that much of a percentage of a passenger’s fare. Drivers would not be complaining if they did. Ask your other drivers about their recent experiences. I’m a 5-Star rated Diamond driver with thousands of trips. I get my car detailed every two or three days, and also provide impeccable service. I actually care about my passengers experience with me and I have a strong personal work ethic. Our pay has steadily declined over the last year and plummeted over the last two months. Very few passengers are tipping now even when we go out of our way to provide stellar service. I fill up for $27-$37 a day, and have been barely earning $100 a day recently. I used to easily pull $200/day. It’s just not possible anymore. I purchased $900 set of tires and have paid nearly $550 in oil changes in just the last year. It’s not worth it anymore.
A lot of missing info in this comment: What city? What type of car does driver have? Was your ride an Uberx or Comfort or XL? You say 30 minutes... how many miles is that? In some parts of the country it could take 30 minutes just to drive 2-5 miles due to traffic congestion. Or it could be a 30 mile ride.
