Mistake #1: Driving for uber. Mistake #2: Not truly knowing & understanding your vehicle operating expense. Mistake #3: Accepting rides that don't pay a reasonable amount for the time after deducting your expenses, including deadhead time & miles.
I've been an Uber driver over the last 8 yrs except during COVID. I agree w your comment. Most drivers don't know what Net Income is. When I tell riders I only 'net' $3-4/hr, they are shocked. The exception to that are ex-Uber or ex-Lyft drivers. You are a business and you need to account for all costs for that businees : laptop, phone, maintenance ( brakes, tires, washes, anything Jiffy Lube suggests, etc.), insurance (rates go up from all those extra miles), bottled water and more. Only after that, you can derive 'profit'. The loss of equity in your car's value pays you a lot more than Uber does. Technically, you are PAYING YOURSELF !!
@@johncaputo5538Uber does not "pay" you anything but steals YOUR revenue. You realize that you cover nearly one hundred percent of the expenses needed to generate revenue but they take a roughly 65% cut for literally nothing? I rode with a guy local to me yesterday and got his direct number for the next time I'll need a ride.
Even as a new driver I never chased a surge. My rule for accepting rides is no more than a 10 minute drive for a pick up. As far as talking to passengers, I work in a medium sized market where I see a lot of the same people pretty often I’m 1 of maybe 6 other Uber drivers in my area most people are very chatty with me without me having to initiate it. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones.
i tested how long the surge lasts and its about 6-7 minutes before it refreshes so i figure its about 2-3 miles if your on the highway if its really good to chase. take the 10 minutes down to 7 unless its above a x ride like xl or comfort that pays well. i allow people to chat with me unless they dont at all or they dont after i talk once and they dont bite. but if you dont talk to people that want to talk to you you wont get as much tips same with people that dont want to talk. 9.4 12k rides
As a driver just make sure to greet your rider as they enter your vehicle and ask if the car temperature is good for them then after that shut your mouth, most riders feel annoyed and only want a peaceful and quiet ride.
Doesn't even matter people always feel entitled. I had charger setup for the customers thinking I was going to get a bigger tip or even get a tip at all and that wasn't even the case😬
@@marcialmontecinos1057Uber corporate should be the ones tipping you. You have any idea how you are getting taken advantage of driving for these bs apps? They horde approximately 65% of the revenue and you're covering 98% of the expenses plus providing the labor.
@@petrosaguilar8916 sure do that's why I do it part time not full time. I think as long as riders and drivers communicate with each other I believe we both can get a better understanding and tips do help.
I'm an 8 year veteran, im in the top 25% of drivers in the region 4.98 rating, over 5000 5 star rides, your advise on your last "Tip" about over talking and you stated the majority wanted " Quiet" I find that it is TOTALLY the opposite! 90 % of my rides are fun and talkative, but YES, Read the Room, it doesn't take long to figure it out, Thanks 😊
@@apexakThat happened to me in one week. Seemed like every rider I got was on the rag and very, very MOODY!! And those riders thought they were entitled to talk to me like I'm shit beneath their shoes. My rating went from 4.95 to 4.83 very quickly, and I got all kinds of reports that riders didn't appreciate my conversation or that I was NOT wearing a mask, as Uber was mandating drivers to do, including sharing a link to the CDC in the scolding, yet Uber support techs would not even read the info on the CDC website, for themselves. If they had, and also had real brains, they would not have threatened or harassed one single driver, or rider, with such a scare tactic. The CDC, in the link sent to drivers, specifically stated that masks do not work. It was all a scam. They just used it and worded the mandate to create more FEAR with all the drivers and riders, for profit. I reminded every single rider that masks restricted oxygen to their brain, and that trees need humans' carbon dioxide expelled when they talk so the trees can keep producing oxygen for our planet. Children in first grade understand how trees grow. The masks created a lot of fear in people and made their identities even more hard to confirm. Drivers have more faith and courage than any of these CEOS and attorneys that write contracts so ambiguous that new drivers really have no idea how to be an independent contractor on their apps. They have to break the contract and advise their riders how ripped off they are being. But some still don't get it. They'll figure it out when the algorithm starts sending them low paying fares. It's programmed to get the drivers to settle for less, and less, and less, until the algorithm wins the game, which is created by the support techs, in conjunction with the CEOS and directors, who care nothing about their own neighbors. All the tattle-telling in the app, based on all the options to either take a ride or cancel a rider or report either the rider or driver's behavior is creating animosity in communities where once everyone knew everyone, and people actually helped one another and hard problems got solved quickly and easily when the community came together and figured out how much deception had been placed upon them. Can't wait to read Uberland! It just came in the mail today! SCOTUS might need to read that book, as well, prior to making their decision in the MOODY CASE! I love a play on words! 😂 How many other people know EXACTLY what I'm talking about? 🤔
About the last tip, I match my riders' energy. If they want to talk, I'm more than happy to engage in a conversation. if they don't want to talk, I throw on some relaxing jazz music and we ride in silence.
I have been an Uber driver for 5 1/2 years now, nearly 6700 rides, 2300 on lyft (lyft is such a damn rip off, I quit) I am a Diamond driver, 95% of my riders tip me. I always ask how are they doing and wish them a Great Evening. If they start to talk after I ask how they are doing then it continues on. If they are quiet I am also. Some of them are going home from work and have been dealing with people for 8 hours, they want some decompression time and quiet.. I allow that. I learned about "over talking" and still may do this on occasion, I catch myself tho. Chasing surge, after all these years and rides I still do it. hahaha.. and sometimes I get it, sometimes I dont. the area may surge again, so if it pops, then I hang out for a bit to see if it will come back..
@@ty-lim Thanks! I keep my car clean! Wipe the seats down, vacuum, and go thru the car wash every other day. I send the text, "Ive arrived" and when it gets close to cancelation I text a question mark.. I keep my doors locked until I verify the name AND attitude. Most of my riders appreciate that I do that. I ask them how they are doing. If they dont talk much after that, I keep quiet and allow them their peace. I always wish them a good afternoon or evening. I am a very educated person, worldly. So I can discuss a wide variety of topics. I also find that if I can get people to laugh, it lightens their mood. I am basically a happy person.. and that will rub off onto them. I am friendly and kind. I do all I can to provide them with a safe ride. If I make a mistake like bumping into a curb, I apologize. If someone needs extra time to get out of the car, I tell them no rush, take your time. If someone has a low score I bring their awareness to it. Some riders dont even know they have a score and are shocked to find out theirs is low. I tell them I am going to give them 5 stars and make suggestions on how they can improve. Like being there waiting for the driver, not trying to put more people in the car than is allowed legally.. I love animals, so pets are welcome! .I dont hand out water bottles or candy. I cant afford it and I dont want spills in the car. I am personable and interested in being the best I can. After a year and 7 months driving for Uber l came to realise that is all “Labour in vane” if you calculate your gas, your time, your car value depreciation and the risk involved Uber is nonsense for real.
I have not started yet. But after all calculations and reading different tips, I start thinking it's not worth it as full time job. All living expenses +car expenses +taxes....You will need a new car in 2-3 years , so you already need to make enough to put money aside for it. As an extra job in spare time it might be kinda ok.
My favorite is when you get a ride to the zone thats been surging all day and when you get there the surge is now back at your house in the suburbs where it's not busy
@@jeffreyculbert2093Amen! Know that you are an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR and ACT like it! BUT BE PREPARED TO ARGUE WITH UBER SUPPORT WHEN NEGOTIATING UPCHARGES TO YOUR RIDERS BECAUSE THEY DIDNT ORDER THE APPROPRIATE VEHICLE OR PAY YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY CLEAN UP FEES FROM BIOHAZARD VOMITS. Uber is not paying me for my requests to recover my losses on two Independent Contractor requests that Uber specifically allows for these requests to be covered in their app!
These are all great tips but you forgot one& it's a big one.. Don't rent a car for Uber you'll essentially be working to pay for the vehicle and struggling to make profits finance something reliable and affordable and go from there..
full time/ot uber drivers can put 100k-150k miles a year you will break the engine and transmission before youre even done with the 3-5 year contract but for part time drivers id say thats fine
True. A nice used vehicle, that is very affordable and easy to maintain is suitable enough. In the long run, most passengers do not want to pay luxury prices anyways for a very luxury ride. Just a point A to B.
Mistake #4 Not taking into account how much time you'll spend on recharging EV's. Prepare to spend 2hrs every calendar day charging your EV's battery, that's IF you can get to a charger that has no one else waiting. (Especially CCS/EvGo chargers) Teslas are much more common.
Tips?! The majority of passengers I find don't tip.I get it , they are being robbed by Uber and Lyft as well but that doesnt change the fact that we rely on tips to make this profitable. I have stopped driving for this reason.
30 rides a day and only like 4 leave a tip. When the passenger is paying 40 and the driver gets 17, can't blame the rider to pay an extra 5 dollar tip. Uber is a joke now
Always read the passenger. Some passengers like to talk, some don't. Respect that. Don't ignore them, always be polite and helpful, focus on driving correctly. I've had passengers complain that some drivers don't say a word to them once they get in the car, no matter how much the passenger tries to engage in conversation. Remember that part of your job is customer service. Never argue with the customer, regardless of how you personally feel about whatever it may be you two are talking about. Last week i made over $250 in tips, in case anyone was wondering.
In NJ and other areas where Uber does NOT provide upfront destination: I strongly advise starting with LYFT (they give us upfront everything in NJ). I regret not doing this when I started a year ago.
Some rate card markets have decent rates for miles and time. Every market is different. It's better to maintain accounts on uber and lyft and strategize for current conditions.
They say don't worry about acceptance rating, I cannot see destination until I reach gold but I can't cause I do not accept all. Do I accept until l, gold, so I can see my destinations? Ugh uber
@@MM-ng5wc there's a catch 22 here. You won't make 100 bucks in an 8 hr time frame if you take every single shit run they'll throw at you. Chasing gold will only wear you and your car out. It's not worth it to me. They'll offer you a run that picks up 10 miles aways just to backtrack you past where you started and then they won't give you a Nicole for those deadhead miles and if you're lucky you'll get paid what the loaded miles are. So you tell me if it's worth it or not to chase gold. And where I'm from, you have to take time into consideration for every trip. Backup and traffic lights will eat your time. I'll read some of the times off of my screens hits for you. Pays 12.71 pickup is 20 minutes away, 11.6 miles. 20 trip, 9.i miles. Another example with a big assed stack that I refused. $10.18 8 mins with 4.2 mile deadhead, 24mins 12.9 mile trip. I've given you 2 examples. Tell me how much you made per hr if you didn't get anything else? Was it worth it to you? And then if you have to run back to a better area if one of those runs takes you out to bfe, then that's more of a loss. So take every little dick run including the 3 and 5 dollar bullshit and ask yourself if it's worth it. There's my 2 cents. Their lowering the rates. And if you say no and hold out and then they have to add a little more for the same run. And if you have to backtrack, they can shove that one in their asses. I understand that there's someone waiting on a ride. Well if they made it worth your while in the first place then they'd have a ride. If you want me to do it for nothing, then I'm going home. That's what I do.
Good video, In my region, NYC SUBURBS, UBER doesn't show driers where the rider is heading, Unless you accept 85 % of your first 100 rides to get GOLD status. In our region, accepting a ride to NYC is a waste of time and gas due to the EMPTY drive back To our region.
Rider threw up in my car, threw the wet nap i offered her covered in vomit at my face, threaten to f me up, I cleaned vomit for over an hour, and unable to continue driving for the night, I ask Uber for cleaning fee reimbursement, with audio recording and pictures, Uber claims I don’t need any compensation
I’ve been doing Uber for 2.5 weeks in Tacoma, WA and haven’t seen a surge yet. I also haven’t seen upfront fares. I’ve done 115 trips I’m Uber Gold pro.
I used to drive cab. Never was I suggested to drive to another zipcode or 8+ miles away to pickup a ride. Uber DOES NOT pay for time and gas for travel for pickups. Simple math.
Here in Jacksonville,Fl, we have tons of bridges and the only way to see the entire route in a map view is to have diamond, i dont have diamond, im blue ,but I think it should be available to all drivers. I need to know if Im crossing a bridge to the southside, westside, beaches, etc. Ive been driving for about 6 months.
I’ve been driving six years one year for Lyft five years for Uber I went from $2100 a week to close to 400. If I’m lucky it’s an absolute joke now considering how much our expenses are now I just basically do a few rides by lunch by coffee but more and more and more gas in my car, get a pack of smokes and I’m done. I go home watch TV and have a normal life with my family. Hopefully they will figure out how they can stop screwing over the drivers as they I told them on a daily basis. If I don’t make money, you don’t make money. It’s called economics supply, and demand wake up people before you ruin your company because you’re doing a damn good job of ruin everyone else’s life that work for you.
The point about chasing the surge is so true. I have wasted so much time trying to chase the surge only for it to disappear once I get there. I am not doing it anymore.
Very good points! As a passenger, nothing annoys me more than a driver who won't stop talking! While in the Uber, I want to take a little break from the world. Collect my thoughts, maybe check my phone. And a driver who won't stop talking is being rude and inconsiderate.
I found in my area, I get more per mile and make more running short trips. Ex: 2.5 miles: 5-6$. 4 miles, 6.50,. Getting mostly well over a dollar per mile. Ex: 12 miles: $9. 30 miles: $24. Now I am making less than a dollar a mile. Go figure, simple math. Be consistent Uber.
❤❤❤ Great Video! This video is very professional and sophisticated! Every market is different! I focus on early morning airport reservation rides that are about an hour away in San Diego, California around 0400! This strategy has worked for me in San Diego, California. I drive an off Leased Mercedes Benz C350e hybrid! This is my second car. I have been driving for over 8 years with around 11,000 rides on both platforms! Keep up the GREAT work!!!
I never do airports on purpose. I don't see money. Driving to airport. Driving to an area. Then waiting. Just to go 25 miles for 15 dollars. Don't make sense.
@@alfredflores6347 Agreed 👍💯! I do airport reservation requests AWAY from the airport. I try to set up an hour away and get that long run around 0400 in San Diego, California.

How many refusals is too much? They constantly send me requests that are 18-20 minutes away. I turn those down most of the time and it almost always ends up with getting something much closer. My acceptance is under 10%. Does that matter at any point. I'm fine with remaining a lowly Blue...
I have been in multiple markets, and it sounds like either your market is small or you are not going into a larger market. I can also tell you that sometimes UBER is very strong in some markets, and not so much Lyft if you were trying to drive Lyft.
I am in a smaller market but the main hub of which is a college town when I started in 2020 I would be on trip 100% of the time from 7pm-10am every Friday night and Sat. Now most of the time I am about 15-30 min from the time I end one trip till I get another offer.@@StarTrekNotStarWars
I did Uber for the 1st time today . My first client I talked n listened . He tipped me , my 2nd client I didn’t say a word n didn’t get a tip . My 3rd client I talked and got a tip
The problem is here in Louisiana if I reject enough rides and my acceptance rate goes below %80 they then only give you how far the pickup is not the length of the ride . So I mainly stay on comfort rides.
Uber eats about 85% tip and tip big. Uberx 20-25% tip. 5 star rating. People know they have to tip as seen in my Uber eats tips but they don't on Uberx. I drove taxi, black car, limos and the tip rates were almost 100% but Uber forget it the worst. Also I did take all the trips but now only take them if they are over $1 per mile.
The reason chasing surge doesn’t work is because other people are chasing the same surges. As soon as enough drivers are active in the area the surge is gone.
Do chase surge if there are larage gathering in the area, but set your filter so you don't go very father, thus taking shorter rides and returning. I got three $12 dollar surge pick-ups within one hour during a huge late concert in my area. At times it takes time for large gathering to clear on a night that is pretty busy. I kinda since Just when and when not to by know my city.
College kids and seniors or folks in state housing never tip. I have to change markets when traveling to a different area. I won’t go to surge area anymore bc by time I went to one it was gone. I’ll just park. Tier’s suck if I get dinged for refusing crap rides or food delivery. I’m trying to bring my own food and drinks to save on cost. My market pays low.
Im a newer driver, one day i was so irked with passengers not coming out if their house til just before timer woukd let me cancel. Then I'm all telling her, don't order your uber til you're outside waiting for it. It was the way i said it. The next passenger took 5 minutes to get the car too. I wonder if they know its quickest way to get a low rating. 3 stars or less.
If it's surging everywhere around me on the map except where I'm at, which they do a lot, then I just won't accept any rides that arent surges. If they keep sending me rides without surges then I'll just go offline and check Lyft or wait
Uber should have a timer where we can see how long the surge runs. It’s so unfair if you made an effort to get there and it just disappears. Especially if you’re struggling to get rides. They’re so inconsiderate
Hey, I Uber drive, been giving rides for 2 years. I went to drive a few days ago and I couldn’t access the Uber driver preference. All I could do is delivery. I chatted online with a tech man and all he could say was to delete the app then bring it back. I tried that several times & even waited 15 minutes and I still don’t have the ride preference on the app. I called costumer service and that gentleman told me the same thing. What next?
I have an erea I call my "fishing hole" and I take a loop there and generally catch the wave that takes me through the morning, or the "breakfast club".
Just say “No”. I used to do it on the side, but now it’s not even worth it. Mind you, my area is over saturated with drivers and not enough riders. To go to an area that has higher demand still isn’t worth the time, pay, cost of gas and wear/tear
When i started i took every ride for the first few weeks to get my status up to a tier where i could get paid better more often, and then i started cherry picking a little here and there.
I make insane amount of tips. I am just friendly and chat with everyone, if no one wants to talk I put on music that’s really good. Works all the time. The tips keep rolling
I have been saying this since I started doing rideshare. We are the new bartenders of the world. People want to tell their problems to somebody. I also learned something a LONG time ago. People LOVE to talk about themselves. It is a common sales trick. People find themselves the most interesting people in the world.
This acceptance rate is really an issue,in RSA we get requestes from riders as far as +-10km away even made exclusive, this affects the acceptance rate and we don't get paid for those kilometres. I think the app must have settings of radius to accept trips and don't get trips that are far from your location.Sometimes we get trips from estates houses where you need to get an access code to enter the premises, sometimes riders don't respond when you text them or call them and the waiting period time doesn't start counting because the driver is a kilometre away from the pick up point, which results to a driver to cancel and that affects the acceptance rate.uber really needs to take this into consideration
You will only get tipped if you talk to passengers and if the passengers liked you or the conversation in 90% cases. Once I stopped talking they stopped tipping me, that’s my personal experience.
The surge map doesn't look like that where I drive. It's not by $ amount, the surge is by multiplier. 1.5X or 3X. Basically here, it is just a coloured cloud, the darker red it gets the higher the multiplier. I agree with not accepting every ride, but he really didn't give much advice on which rides to take which ones not to. Good rule of thumb, don't accept a ride that the pickup is 10 minutes away, for a 3 minute ride.
If you’re in NYC metro area (includes surrounding counties) take all the orders they ARE worth it. I make 2K a week on a slow week working barely under 12hrs a day.
Is it just me that Uber headquarters/office make drivers feel like a prisoner of war. The treatment drivers get from Uber office employees is disgusting
99% of surges are yanked at the line because Uber knows your location. You can prove this by turning off location and going offline and screen recording what happens when you turn it back on and hit go.
I’m driving part time and the first 2 days I took every ride and made $40 to $50 in 3 hours, in Augusta areas are small and far apart so after day 2 I set up to accept only trips within 5 miles of my drop off since I don’t get to see how much it pays or how many miles each ride runs, I only see how far the pick up is, and now a make $70 to $98 on those 3 hours.
@@allpraisestoyah5033I’m in Florida and even at diamond status I can see how far to pick up, trip duration time, and general direction. I cannot see prices or other detailed information until after I accept the ride.
@@skippyrod2532There are occasions where I’ll hit $30 an hour. But many nights (M-R) I hit $15-18 at most. Weekends (F-S) I can average $18-25. I’ve noticed almost a threefold increase in Uber drivers here.
I noticed a tip is rarely left when driving people. Vehicle is always clean, I am polite, never over talk, drive safely. Not sure what the problem is. Other than the fact Uber puts the tip option very low in the app so unless the passenger scrolls down they won’t even see the tip option. Any advice from you veterans?
After 2 1/2 years I gave up driving. Between the cost of gas ($4.00 a gallon)having a woman break my seatbelt then reporting me for having a broken seat belt, and other petty issues I quit. II was a Gold driver after the first week and stayed that way.I’m retired and drive for money for my expensive hobby R/C helicopters and drones, it became more like a real job with less money. With Lyft bonuses being limited to ridiculous rules it’s more trouble than it works. The bonuses covered my gas and the rest was enough to make it worthwhile. I never drove Uber but if Lyft wants to survive they better get it figured out!
In many countries Uber does show all information about the ride in the ping including the exact pick up address , drop down address , the milage and ETA as well how much money the driver will be paid. IN Western Australia it only shows how far in kms and minutes the rider is . When you move to gold tier having 85 or Higher % AR , 3 or less % CR and 400 points ( back in days it was 1000) you will see as well where is the rider ( North , North West ) the duration of the trip ( so you need to calculate on spot whether there is traffic or not ) to estimate roughly how much you will be paid , and the direction from the pick up point ( south west ) . It's very hard to cherry pick when you have 30 secs to keep an eye on road and do your calculations. If you drops your CR or AR bellow level mentioned above , then again you won't see anything other then John is 5 minutes away. And how on heck i should know how far John is travelling, unless its 35 km and plus ...
no it doesnt change anything, to become gold-diamond they only care about being a 4.85+ and doing enough rides and not accepting THAN canceling, gota keep that under 4% which is no more than 8 rides per 200 rides, i have a 30% acceptance rate
Im in Melbourne, Australia. Cherry-picking ... my philosophy is "the inly time im making money is if someone is in the back seat AND the wheels are turning" Consequently i take every ride (unless pick-up is much longer than ride) - here we have Didi and Uber, I am platform agnostic - whoever has a customer for me at any given time, that's who im driving for. I won't chase surge, but I won't wait around and refuse rides hoping for a big fish. Similarly i dont do airport pick-ups. The Uber priority rebook system is broken and waiting in the pig pen is just wasted time. I do drive an EV, so my marginal costs are about 1.5c/km so im more flexible on how far ill drive for a pick-up 😊
Is it worth chasing Uber gold since it gives you trip time and direction? I don’t live in an upfront market and knowing this information seems extremely helpful for trip planning. The problem is it requires an %85 AR… seems tough. Thoughts?

@@RideWithMeOk I'm younger than you
Wait till 4 select people hammer your rating for no good reason lol😂
How many other people know EXACTLY what I'm talking about?

Its not worth it i tried with my bmw thats what i have and mostly the money goes for the gas
My favorite is when you get a ride to the zone thats been surging all day and when you get there the surge is now back at your house in the suburbs where it's not busy

No, this is silly. Uber doesn't pay what they used to, that's the difference. 😂This guy doesn't know, there are no surges.
The best tip for new drivers at this point in time is simple: don’t participate as a pawn in Lyft and Uber organized crime scams.

Yeah a $1000 a month or more omg you could probably have a new corvette for that
full time/ot uber drivers can put 100k-150k miles a year you will break the engine and transmission before youre even done with the 3-5 year contract but for part time drivers id say thats fine
True. A nice used vehicle, that is very affordable and easy to maintain is suitable enough. In the long run, most passengers do not want to pay luxury prices anyways for a very luxury ride. Just a point A to B.
But it is a good way to get a car to drive if you don't have one.
This is so true.

Ugh uber
Facts i been driving since 2016 and thats some new shit just another obstacle for the drivers
But Lyft pay sucks
Good video, In my region, NYC SUBURBS, UBER doesn't show driers where the rider is heading, Unless you accept 85 % of your first 100 rides to get GOLD status. In our region, accepting a ride to NYC is a waste of time and gas due to the EMPTY drive back To our region.
not all are bad, all depends on the time of the day. in tolls you make $7 plus tip. Uber charges $20 in tolls to the customer and you pay $13 .

Don't take long rides it's a trick, they pay only half if you compare with shorts riders
Rider was charged approx. $18 and I was paid just over $5. What a joke.
It’s called economics supply, and demand wake up people before you ruin your company because you’re doing a damn good job of ruin everyone else’s life that work for you.

Very good points! As a passenger, nothing annoys me more than a driver who won't stop talking! While in the Uber, I want to take a little break from the world. Collect my thoughts, maybe check my phone. And a driver who won't stop talking is being rude and inconsiderate.
You can request in your ride preferences for a quiet ride.

Indeed. My first day today . Waited over 2.5 ours for an eats trip. None showed. Think I am doing something wrong.
The problem is here in Louisiana if I reject enough rides and my acceptance rate goes below %80 they then only give you how far the pickup is not the length of the ride . So I mainly stay on comfort rides.
Is there a way to be selective of rides if we cannot see the upfront pricing? I can only see where the rider wants to go after I accept the request
This. UberX tip rate is about 10-15% of the time.
I make plenty of money without being in the surge areas. I drive both and Lyft has better Bonuses
Thanks for these tips. Ive got my temps and I’m ready to get back on the road.

This time driving uber or lyft is like putting your self into a no chance of winning situation
Just say “No”. I used to do it on the side, but now it’s not even worth it. Mind you, my area is over saturated with drivers and not enough riders. To go to an area that has higher demand still isn’t worth the time, pay, cost of gas and wear/tear
You’re not making as much money as you used to because they went public and the shareholders are getting it now.

When i started i took every ride for the first few weeks to get my status up to a tier where i could get paid better more often, and then i started cherry picking a little here and there.
This seems like the best to begin then you can learn and work on more efficient strategies
What they're doing is venting. No one else listens to their problems; therefore you are their free psychiatrist 😊
My opening phrase is “how’s your day going” By the way they answer question gives me a clue if they want to talk or not.
Could you please inform me? When I get in line 1-5 at the airport, I don't get a turn. While other XL vehicles are leaving, I'm stuck in this line.
Interesting perspective, tyvm 4sharing. 😊
I’m making 2 of 3 mistakes: following the surges and not canceling rides but to talk with the riders nah only if they’re cool
You can prove this by turning off location and going offline and screen recording what happens when you turn it back on and hit go.
isn't the surge locked in once you accept the trip?
Uber & lyft is deep-deep pockets .,it’s not easy to get 💰 😅😅 Im driving in Boston MA
I thought every region u can see how much u make and street, in Texas we see the that info I take 3 outta 10 rides lol
@@allpraisestoyah5033I’m in Florida and even at diamond status I can see how far to pick up, trip duration time, and general direction. I cannot see prices or other detailed information until after I accept the ride.
40-50? That seems low. DFW area market consistently hits $20 or more an hour.
@@skippyrod2532There are occasions where I’ll hit $30 an hour. But many nights (M-R) I hit $15-18 at most. Weekends (F-S) I can average $18-25. I’ve noticed almost a threefold increase in Uber drivers here.
Never chase a surge. Read the passenger within 10 seconds. Be polite and don't be afraid to be picky. F the acceptance rate and perks..who cares.

It's the only way to fly.
How can you cherry pick the rides if uber won't let you see the destination before accepting the ride?
Don’t do this.Don’t use Ubereats. They have no problem stealing from you
In many countries Uber does show all information about the ride in the ping including the exact pick up address , drop down address , the milage and ETA as well how much money the driver will be paid.
Which insurance do you take for uber x?
I am a part time Uber Driver and those are good tips.
When you decline rides, it drops your acceptance rate which is important correct ?
no it doesnt change anything, to become gold-diamond they only care about being a 4.85+ and doing enough rides and not accepting THAN canceling, gota keep that under 4% which is no more than 8 rides per 200 rides, i have a 30% acceptance rate
@@shmurk951dabzacceptance rate means nothing I’m at 16 right now and Lyft I’m at 1 or 2 percent lmao
Im in Melbourne, Australia. Cherry-picking ... my philosophy is "the inly time im making money is if someone is in the back seat AND the wheels are turning"
Consequently i take every ride (unless pick-up is much longer than ride) - here we have Didi and Uber, I am platform agnostic - whoever has a customer for me at any given time, that's who im driving for. I won't chase surge, but I won't wait around and refuse rides hoping for a big fish. Similarly i dont do airport pick-ups. The Uber priority rebook system is broken and waiting in the pig pen is just wasted time.
I do drive an EV, so my marginal costs are about 1.5c/km so im more flexible on how far ill drive for a pick-up 😊
In doing uber and lyft for a week driving 4hrs and i only get money for the gas that i fill
Agree
Is it worth chasing Uber gold since it gives you trip time and direction? I don’t live in an upfront market and knowing this information seems extremely helpful for trip planning. The problem is it requires an %85 AR… seems tough.
Thoughts?
