Something that helps. From my experience people who say. “Hey, I’ll tip you in the app.” Almost never do. Also the more they say it the less likely it will happen. So do a little psychology here and say “Most people that say that they are going to tip actually never do but I believe you. You seem like a good and decent person.” That puts a little pressure on them to not be liars.
I said that once to an accidental share ride that I accepted on a blink if you miss it tap. After dropping him off, he kept boasting about being in a clean Uber and me being professional. After he said what he said, "I told him that most Share rides don't tip because they're on the Share ride to save money. I accepted this trip accidentally but if you feel you want to tip, most ppl do it quietly. Saying one thing is one thing, but doing it is another." He tipped $2, but most often I paraphrase "Most ppl who say that don't but I trust that you will since you said it"
I totally agree! The ones that brag they are gonna leave you a tip in the app, never do! It's the ones that say nothing that tend to leave that tip..however I would not say what you said to say lol
Another simple thing that has led to more tips for me is to ask riders if they have all their belongings when they get in the car, as well as when they exit. It does no good to remind them to grab their phone, keys, or wallet when they get out of the car if they didn't have it to start the trip. It helps to bookend the ride with the same reminder and prevents the need to search the car for items or, worst case, return to their pickup spot.
This is just straight up wrong. 90% of the customers who give me tips are the customers who I had a conversation with. Riders are much more likely to tip a driver they like, a rider cannot like you if you haven't said anything. Good conversations are the key to tips, period. The quiet ones decided if they were going to tip or not before they even got into in the car.
It's about reading the room. The biggest tip I gave and a 5 star rating was to a driver who smiled and said hello, confirmed my name and destination then didn't say another word until we got there. He could tell I was jet lagged and not in the mood. It was a good ride.
@@KevinScherrer You need to understand this: you do not represent the average passenger, or even a significant percentage. Passengers who are quiet generally decided whether or not they would tip before they got in the car and will do so almost entirely regardless of your behavior, while the rest will only tip if they feel a personal connection to you.
@@KevinScherrer This isn't an "expert" talking, this is experience and also science (studies have very consistently show that tips are rarely influenced by actual job performance and much more likely to be influenced by arbitrary factors such as personality).
5 Star Driver, Clean vehicle, good smelling vehicle, pleasant drives, and I STILL only get a tip 20% of the time. More often than not, ONE client will tip me $20 or $30 and that will make up for the balance who will not tip at all. Good thing, though they will leave me a great review!😅✌️💪
It's all a bunch of BS! I've done all of that and people simply won't tip. I've been extremely nice for way too long, gone above and beyond, but tips are if you're lucky one for every 10 rides you give, at least here in Los Angeles. Passengers get charged a fair bit, so this should not come as a surprise, even though I've always kept to myself when I had to, chit chatted when appropriate to do so, offered cold seltzer /water especially during the summer months, etc. I've done it all and I'm a pro, but just got tired of all this nonsense. I know many of you out there can hear me?🙏
I am totally with you. AC for $3 ride or $1 tip. I'll pass. We are "lucky" if they greet or answer our greetings, clean after themselves, or even put back the armrest.
Great advice... may I add a few more based on my experiences using Uber as well as driving? 1) For the love of GOD please CLEAN the car and throw out garbage. I've been in some cars (on vacations, etc) that looked lived in. Not Cool. Was also at the airport rideshare lot and observed soooo many cars filthy dirty. Caked in dirt, visible body damage, etc. I can't imagine what it looks like and smells like inside. YUCK. I personally wash and vacuum my car at the start of each day (I have a car wash plan so it costs me about $1 a day). I also clean out the seats every few rides with Lysol spray and have a "new car" air freshner that I apply every few rides. 2) Put away your airpods and pay attention to driving. I think it's rude to have a driver listening to a podcast or news or whatever while I'm a passenger. And don't get the phone to talk to someone while you have a passenger unless it is an emergency. And don't speak in a foreign language while driving a passenger that does not understand. I get it that you took a call and are speaking your native tongue but that is just rude... 3) Treat a passenger like you would like to be treated if you were the passenger. Your tips are amazing. I figured them out a long time ago and it's good to see somone recognize them and make a video.
I had a passenger with a bowel disease. Had I not pulled over fast enough he would've shit in my car. He got out and projectile defacated on the side of the road. Glad I pulled over in time. I thought about leaving him there because no way he was getting back in. I get out to tell him that I need to pull off and he asks for the toilet paper that he has in his bag in my back seat. I go and grab it and stretch my arm out to hand him the toilet paper. Then I remember I have flushable wipes in my car and give that to him as well to clean himself up better. He literally had shit all over his hands and clothes. I decided to take him home anyway as we drove 20 miles with the windows pinned down. And after all that... no tip. I learned that people will tip you if they want. There is no sure way to guarantee a tip, obviously, but it doesn't hurt to be courteous. That's all you can do.
Uber profiles customers who tip and raises the price of their subsequent rides in an attempt to capture those future tips. At some point the price gets higher enough and the customer doesn't tip at all thinking the driver is paid enough
I think that is just a conspiracy theory… I take Ubers pretty frequently with my wife and we always tip and our ride fares end up being the same as what most passengers pay… I actually keep track of these type of numbers and there’s no big difference either way
99% of riders say they are going to leave the tip on the app they never do or if I make a extra stop for a pack of cigarettes they say I'm really going to take care of you and never do..
As usual the golden rule is golden. How annoying is it to be trapped in a car for any amount of time, with someone who wants to talk, when you don’t? Being considerate and sensitive to their mental state is crucial. The default is no conversation. Part of the equation is if you enjoy music make it just loud enough for you to hear. You can even just enable the front speakers. Anything you can do to make your time with a passenger as tolerable as possible, for everyone envolved.
Something else you can do is go the extra mile. I had a passenger who had trouble getting through gate security because he was staying with his sister until he got his own place. He said leave me at the gate and go. It was hot day and I said no and waited patiently while he contacted his sister. We got past the gate and he tipped me 20% for the extra effort
Not always, but I'm glad you ended up with a generous tipper. I did the same for this girl who refused to get out to her hotel until her boyfriend had booked the room. She didn't tip and my next ride canceled because it was so hot out, she wanted to stay in the AC car
Asking them what kind of music to play is not a good idea? As a rider, I don't want to wait another few minutes to put on music that I want and I really don't want the driver messing with the music while driving. Just make a decent playlist with music everyone can enjoy. Pick a radio station it will mostly be ads, and most people are on their phones anyways. Keep a clean car, say hello, confirm name, maybe ask if temp is alright and converse if appropriate. Why confirm destination unless rider asks. They put it in and can see it on the app. I get annoyed when a driver asks me. Just drive. If its not right and you have to drive further you may make a little more money for their stupidity. Asking for good reviews is fake, cringy, and desperate. People that tip will tip and people that don't will not. People are being asked to tip everywhere nowadays. Airport trips tend to tip more because many times they are traveling for work so they expense it. Service industry folks will usually tip. And many times people you don't think will tip you, sometimes do and the opposite is true. The best thing to do - is to not do something so they won't tip you.
you forgot the MAIN part....looking PRESENTABLE!!!! and that's how you look so good job! I try to as well to spray cologne use the lint roller and wear clean clothes and clean shoes because they can see the shoes too!!!!!...
I always look at my passengers and say “hey how’s it going?” How they respond tells me what mood they are in and whether or not they want to talk. Then when I start the ride the Uber navigation says “head to X destination”. So I don’t need to ask my Pax if that’s where they are going because they hear the navigation say it. I play 80s, 90s and 2000s rock at a listening level just under what I want to hear. That means it’s very quiet for my Pax, if they are into the music(make comments, sing or hum along) I’ll turn the volume up. I keep the car temp set to 68. It seems to be comfortable year round. Last tip, keep your car clean and use a natural air freshener like an essential oil based air freshener. Conclusion, if your Pax is going to tip they will tip. I’ve helped people at the airport and made unscheduled stops for them and they didn’t tip. But I’ve also just given 5 minute rides to people that tipped well. Point is don’t make a habit of going above and beyond if you’re doing it solely for the tip. If you think they will tip go ahead, they might tip better. Otherwise just treat them with some respect and make some money. Be grateful when a tip comes in, don’t make a habit of expecting tips.
I was in service industry for 20 years. I do these things. I do like your suggestion about asking for feedback. Sometimes they like conversation. Also suggestions about where to visit, if out of town. Read the room!
We shouldn’t live on tips! People are either generous or they are not. Does not matter what we do. I have handed out standard water for a week and I’ve also handed out quality Fiji water for a week and I didn’t offer water for one week. There was no difference from week to week in tips.
Definitely don't be the person that just completely ignores the passenger when they get in I've been on rides like that. Where they're listening to like some weird music that I have to listen to for 20 minutes. I think everything you said here I agree with. Even though I was broke, and the days I needed to take Uber, as long as the driver was nice, I would at least try to tip $2-$3.
Hello $3 per ride 1.2 rides per hour with a $5 per ride average and 28 rides per week full time ain't going to be profitable. Stop charging less than $10 per ride Uber/Lyft
Unfortunately tipping rates went from 33% before 2020 peaked at 50% 2020-21 then back to 33% in 2022 and fell off a cliff after 2023 to a 10% level or lower. You'll want to follow this advice simply to keep a high rating not necessarily to get more tips.
I wish you were right but I've had rides with no talk with big tips and have had rides where I was extremely friendly, and so was the passenger, and you guessed, there zero tips.
I have not even started driving yet. Just got my car inspected today, but started looking at the videos just to see if there was anything I should know. As a long time Uber rider I can say that one thing working against tips is the fact that at first, when it just started, tipping your driver was not really encouraged and the fact that we could tip our drivers seemed to be some sort of tribal knowledge. It was supposed to be a good thing for everybody. But maybe that was always BS. I think it's good advice to ask for reviews. It makes you think about what you did or didn't like about the ride and if I can't come up with any real negatives then why wouldn't I tip? (Other than the fact that the tipping culture in the US is getting a little out of control. 🙂 )
@DMZraider that's not what I'm saying at all. If it's uber comfort they get what they request. If it's uber x...and they want the windows down, I let them out into the fresh air and cancel the ride. Next time they might spend the extra money and order what they really want. Heat and air I will adjust as long as it doesn't make the driver uncomfortable. After all..who wants an uncomfortable driver. Tipping is rare in my area...no matter what courtesies I offer.
When your passenger gets into your vehicle never ask how are you doing? Your obligating them to say more then they may want to. Simply say hello. Next confirm the drop off location. By alleans feel free to use the windows or let me know if you need heat. Is their a particular radio station you would like to listen to? If by chance you decide you would like to make a stop along the way please take a second to add it in the app so my next passenger will know of any delays in their trip. Even a two min delay could get me into trouble. That's all you need to say to people. Unfortunately you have to say this because people will always ask if you can make a quick stop. Even with a promise of a tip. If they don't wanna pay an extra dollar or two in the app their not tipping cause you wanna be a sucker.
nice ok but idk seems crass to ask for a good review....I do talk and ask them about themselves unless i see them looking at their phone, then i dont talk. I did notice if i say their name at the end i do get more tips myself
@@UberDriverChat I will start to write it down This last trip i decided not to chat plus he was looking at his phone I said his name at the end and made a nice smile and comment on the sunny day tomorrow in Seattle I got a tip I will start keeping track this week and let you know
Only 20% of all my riders, both uber and Lyft tip here in South Florida. I even have a card that explains about tipping and how the Wright shares are ripping them off as well as us.
Is there a way to stop the new offers from flooding in when I get near the end of my current ride? It can cover the navagation and cause much anxiety not to mention if you accept then you are making the customer wait for you to finish your current ride first. I get wanting to save time on the margins but this is just bad. I havent found a way to turn these annoying offers off if anyone knows how please help!
Typically what I do since Uber took away this feature a few months back is that once I accept a decent offer, I’ll head to the customer, wait until I confirm it’s them and get into the car then would stop requests by doing so whenever you end your shift. Before you complete the trip, press the “X” beside stop trip requests and end the trip. New offers will come in. I would rise and repeat. Plus it gives you the full ride details so you wouldn’t have to be on the other side of town with no requests. I would say that’s one of the major flaws of Uber BUT I do get their point of view of doing iy.
Everything stated here is a no-brainer. If a driver hasn't figured this out on his/her own, maybe it's time to find a different career? *footnote The only amenities I offer is a clean and safe ride from point A to point B.
I offer water now and hand sanitizer, that's it. If someone asks to use my cord, I tell them it's not available due to having to use it. Plus, your going a short trip, so you won't get much of a charge. Most ppl who ask for the cord no longer tip, they just expect you to have a cord
Common sense would say if you’re doing Uber in the cities around ghetto predominantly African-Americans you’re not going to get a tip as anybody who works in the restaurant industry knows that African-Americans tip horribly.. if you’re going to get tips, you probably need to do airport rides or rides and more affluent Caucasian Asian areas. That’s kind of business, 101
There is no straight rule on this.. There is a man near me in an affluent area that often makes reservations to the airport. He doesn't tip. Also people you don't think will tip sometimes do. Once a man handed me money and I asked what's this for? He didn't seem like the tipping "type" at all.
Unfortunately the stereo type is accurate. I stick to weathier areas, but I do notice that ppl who take Uber to and from work don't tip because it's their regular mode of transportation. But I stopped going intot he low income part of the wealthy towns (because they have them); they never show up, always late, don't tip
Lol, one time I got reported for being rude by confirming a ride. And one star. I believe whoever this was did not want me to talk to them, which I was not being impolite
@@AaronTyson Not so, if in a single-party consent state for video and audio recording. This means that only one party involved in the conversation or event needs to consent to the recording.
Driving for a year not enough, to know how people used to tip 10 years ago, they appreciate it, now they think we are slav.s cuz they paid money for this ride, it’s sad but true, only 20-30% of rides who still appreciate what we do!
He probably doing 6hour shifts and cherry picking. I have 1k rides with Lyft over 8yrs because I rarely drive for them and I had a hiatus on Uber. I would have more rides if Uber paid them the way it should be. Just saying
Ijust Don't feel comfortable when They ask where you from?? If you Tell them asking me what made you come to the united state that's none of their business... you call for a ride that's it.. not job interview.... when you ignore them they be giving you not polite with 2 star's
It’s actually good, you can give them a story on how good your hometown, things to see, food to eat. After that, it’s time to ask them back where they come from and so on.
Here in the states that’s making small talk. I tell people where I’m from and other basic facts about my self and I ask them the same questions. It’s called getting to know someone
@maurelius57 You know them about purpose you won't see them again.. plus Some people been races... They be saying dirty staff... and when you ask them they be Like I don't wanna talk about it...
@@Macelinabdirahin if you don't want to share that part, then make up some outlandish story. And become so good at it that it has them begging for more. I drive in Nashville TN, I live in Alabama. When people ask how long I've lived there, I laugh and say I don't live here.... I hate Tennessee. 😅 Then they see my Alabama hat and if they're from the south they get it. If they're from anywhere else they ask why and I explain it's just a college football rivalry. 😂😂 Just find what works for you. But if people talking to you bothers you, you should probably get a job doing manual labor. No one will talk to you then. Except the boss when he cusses you out for doing it wrong 😂😂
I have a question is it beneficial to have drinks and snacks in the ride because I’ve tried that in the past and it was an epic fail so I just wondered if I should try it again
Maybe on a specially hot days where it's in the 90s or 100s have a secret stash of ice-cold bottled waters. Read your passenger and if it seems that an ice cold bottled water would make them really happy then just offer it to them maybe that could lead to a generous tip... And if it doesn't lead to a tip just let it go... I find that the tips come when you are least expecting them...
I don’t waste time or money with snacks. I have a couple candies for me that I might share if someone wants it. And gum as well for me primarily but I share if asked
I don't think it is beneficial to have snacks or drinks in the ride. I only have tic tacs if they need them. I allow passengers to bring drinks in if they have them already. But I have never been asked to provide drinks or snacks. I am too busy driving to be bothered by that.
I offer small bottled waters, they are presented on the rear of the passenger seat. I put two at a time, only because it's summer now. I got the high end water, don't get the cheap stuff that has bad after taste. Do your research and get the smaller bottles, the tiny ones. I dont do snacks because it becomes a mess in the car
@@kennethlee4894 Sorry. I wasn't clear. I agree it's different driver v. rider, but I'm a rider. I don't do small talk, I could never be a driver if tips depended on it. I generally give one word answers, not rudely, and the hint is usually gotten.
In my experience, the first 5 seconds into the ride is when I have to figure out if they want a conversation or silence during the ride. My script for every passenger I pick up that works for me is: Greeting: Hello! Are you (passenger name)? You are going to (location address or location name)? Great! Icebreakers (2 - 5 secs in the ride): How are you doing today? or comment about the weather and give a 3-day forecast. Silence is golden: I don't say a word after that unless they initiate the conversation. That's how I know what type of passenger they are. Drop Off: Here we are. Safe and sound. Thank you! (I don't like reminding them to rate me or leave a tip. I have a small signs on the back of my front seats that reminds them of that. I think that is redundant and feels like I am begging them for those. My tips have increased since I put the signs up.)
Same, that's been about mine for the past 8yrs of doing Uber. However, I don't ask their name, I greet their name. "Hello, Matthew." One girl I said her name outside the window, and she was like "How does she know my name?" LOL! Twice two ladies thought that, "How does she know my name?" And a few seconds later, it kicks in - Uber! I don't mind if they say their name, I want them to because they are recorded on dashcam. That way, they can't lie and say I picked up the wrong person, so I want them to confirm their name for the camera. Prior to dashcam, it irked me LOL!
The drivers that totally amaze me are the ones that pick people up with luggage. They open the back and expect the passenger to load their own luggage and never get out of the car.. That's just rude. Helping passengers or loading their luggage is the first point of contact, and the 1st opportunity to make a good impression on the passenger. This opens them up to the likelihood of a tip. They feel like you have gone above and beyond already for them.
I never ask them to leave a review because I dont want them to feel I was fake just for a review. I get quite a bit of tips tbh but I also get some saying I'll tip u in the app, if I say I will I will I'm not like that and then they dont lol, even after making a stop they didnt add. SMH we cant change liers lol so why try
My best tippers are the chatty ones. Because when you build up a sense of camaraderie the desire to tip for the good experience in that ride is significantly higher. I tipped $20 on a 30 minute ride because of this reason and that was 5 years before I became a driver myself. The same holds true as a driver. My tips are high rates because of this. I respect the quiet ones but they occur in only 5-10% of my rides.
WRONG with number 5!!! NEVER and I repeat NEVER ask a rider to leave you a feedback. Many times they don't want to leave anything but get out and if you remind them to leave you a feedback you will guaranteed receive more low scores than you might think. 5 star feedbacks are almost always obvious and you will get it sooner or later from the rider! Number 1 simple hello is the best you can do and last should be Thank you! That's ALL!
...people you pick up in a crappy neighborhood usually are going to another shitty neighborhood (West side of PHX people stay on the w. Side or s. PHX)
I’ve been doing all of this mentioned except for asking them to plz rate me. I’m going to try this. I think it also depends on where you drive. I work in an affluent area. Mainly everyone are visiting the area they tend to tip but I noticed if I work in poverty stricken areas they absolutely won’t tip.
I drive OUT of Ghetto neighborhoods (if I had to drop a rider into one) because they never tip, and they always seem to have FAST FOOD or drinks in their hands OPENED. It's worth it to me to stay in the areas I know to make money.😅
You have to feel out your passenger. Some will want to talk while others may not want to talk and you have to recognize when it is best to shut up! When I start the ride I usually start off with "How are we doing today?". From there you will almost immediately know rather to shutup or they want to chitchat. Building that good rapport will go along way to getting a tip! I got 7 years of experience so I know! Just being quiet without greeting them once they are in your car will set the mood to a negative atmosphere and that will hardly get you tips!
I always greet, I always ask if the temp is good and if they'd like to charge anything.....then if the conversation goes it goes, if not then sobeit....if they are quiet then I am quiet and I never hint about tips. If they want to tip then they will tip, if not then they won't.
Secret to good smelling car. Calming pillow mist! You can get them anywhere, really calming smells that majority enjoys. Not really strong, like a perfume. Just settle enough.
This a video Harry bought, possibly from Uber. Would it kill this guy to introduce himself? Is it completely necessary for this guy to speak like he's had one expresso too many? And he's at 50% tip Ratio? He's been working fulltime for over a year and he's just now hitting 1000 trips?
The thousand rides doesn’t actually surprise me as I’ve been driving over two years and I barely have 3900 rides… he might just take longer rides cherry, picking them This guy also has his own channel where he shows really really high Uber fares coming through that he must get from having an Uber Black type account He is on on the East Coast… and the ride category that he gets I don’t see out here in California
The best thing he said which is true is to just be quiet. I don't say much to my passengers unless they initiate a conversation. Just a hello and have a good day or night is basically what I say to my passengers.
Hey, can you share some of whatever you’re smoking with the rest of us cause you’re not living in the real world. Riders are cheap. They don’t tip. We need full transparency the rider and the driver both need to see what the rider is paying and the rider and the driver need to see what percentage goes to Uber and what percentage goes to the driver, then maybe they’ll tip, MAYBE.
I recently put signs on the back of the front seats so passengers in back see them that say "Little known fact Uber takes almost 60% of our fair however we do get 100% of tips. Tips are greatly appreciated :)" and that has helped quite a bit. It gets a conversation started and I think a big reason people don't tip is if they have $20 fare they think we are getting $18 of it not realizing we may only get $8 of that. The key I think is educating the passenger.
Only 20% of all my riders, both uber and Lyft tip here in South Florida. I even have a card that explains about tipping and how the Wright shares are ripping them off as well as us.
The passenger is the one who should set the drop off location. By using the pin that says set on map. Other wise it will default to thr common drop off spot. Unfortunately it's is best to ask since people choose not to set the drop off pin
Not necessarily apparently drivers cancel alot if they see an Hispanic name. Had riders repeatedly thank me for picking them up and flip me 10 and 20 bucks at end of fare. There's always exceptions.
I agree… One thing I pay attention to as well is I see Uber is taking less money than what a lot of people claim they are taking… I have been driving for two years and I’m making the same money that I started making when I started driving

Something that helps. From my experience people who say. “Hey, I’ll tip you in the app.” Almost never do. Also the more they say it the less likely it will happen. So do a little psychology here and say “Most people that say that they are going to tip actually never do but I believe you.
Excellent advice.
Just look for items and say nothing. It’s better. If you find something give it back and THAT is how you get a tip.
This is just straight up wrong. 90% of the customers who give me tips are the customers who I had a conversation with. Yup conversation is key everybody nowadays need a psychologist 😅
I know many of you out there can hear me?🙏
Yap I'm with you there's a saying if they want to tip they will tip you
Agree with you
Don’t give out anything
there lucky to just get a ride
💯
Yup
Isn't that CRAZY? The most Perilis Moments, Vulnerable Moments that we are subjected to and YET.....NO TIP!🥵
Special shitty ride.😮😮😮
You should’ve reported him to Uber and get a $300+ cleaning fee! Shame on him for not leaving a tip
Aint no way I would have let himget back in my car
Omg
Good tips about tips. These are solid methods. I’m a 5 star ⭐️ driver, driven over 15,000 rides in 9 years. I get a lot of tips. 😎
Uber profiles customers who tip and raises the price of their subsequent rides in an attempt to capture those future tips. At some point the price gets higher enough and the customer doesn't tip at all thinking the driver is paid enough
I think that is just a conspiracy theory… I take Ubers pretty frequently with my wife and we always tip and our ride fares end up being the same as what most passengers pay… I actually keep track of these type of numbers and there’s no big difference either way
STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE !!!
Silence is golden. I’ve received a ton of tips from people who never say a word.
Same here… I greet them when they get in the car and ask how their days been and then from that point I shut up unless they talk to me
99% of riders say they are going to leave the tip on the app they never do or if I make a extra stop for a pack of cigarettes they say I'm really going to take care of you and never do..
My favorite is when you drop somebody off and they say I will take care of you on the app. I'm thinking you don't have to lie just don't say anything.
Exactly!!
With the cost of their ride, most of them think that we are getting most of the money, from the ride, probably why they're not tipping
@@garys9718 Yes that is probably the case.
I just remind them I know where they live now after the ride, tips up 90%!
😂 that’s what I’m talking about
1000 rides in a year driving full time!?!? I am on month 5 of PT driving and have almost 800...?
That tip about asking them to review is genius
Poor people don’t tip. Stick to rich area. Hint: Poor people don’t fly either.
Well poor people should be out working and not going out. Don’t do what broke people do, and you won’t be broke anymore. Common sense.
That’s a good idea… Being a little patient and understanding pays off
Not always, but I'm glad you ended up with a generous tipper.
I’m always looking at smelling good and I find myself getting the same tips as all the people out there looking like crap😂
I don’t worry about the tip, I just be respectful, if I get it I get it.
Sometimes they tip you when they go for the next ride, after you. The next time they use the app.
I still carry cash. It’s nice and easy to leave a tip
AC for $3 ride or $1 tip. I'll pass. We are "lucky" if they greet or answer our greetings, clean after themselves, or even put back the armrest.
You are talking about great service. I'm really good at that. READ the room.
I usually play the Beatles constantly while driving and I get good tips and ratings.
Hello $3 per ride 1.2 rides per hour with a $5 per ride average and 28 rides per week full time ain't going to be profitable. Stop charging less than $10 per ride Uber/Lyft
Doing steps 1-3, and I get alot of tips, but will start doing #4. Great video.!!!!
Rides are cheaper now. Stop thinking people are paying too much. 90% of rides pay less than $6
Unfortunately tipping rates went from 33% before 2020 peaked at 50% 2020-21 then back to 33% in 2022 and fell off a cliff after 2023 to a 10% level or lower. You'll want to follow this advice simply to keep a high rating not necessarily to get more tips.
Maybe it’s a market saying man? Where I drive I’m still averaging 50% tips.
Changing the temperature is what uber comfort is for.
😂🤣 I guess you have a point…
Exactly. I adjust the AC based on the heat rising up and down and for my comfort, but it always ends up being comfortable for them, too
So you would rather just wait for the comfort ride to get that extra $1.50 than provide it to regular rides in hopes of a $3-5 or more tip?
What’s your tip percentage with saying their name versus without saying their name?
@@UberDriverChat I will start to write it down
This last trip i decided not to chat plus he was looking at his phone
I said his name at the end and made a nice smile and comment on the sunny day tomorrow in Seattle I got a tip I will start keeping track this week and let you know
True! I never ask for a "good review," seems off.
Only 20% of all my riders, both uber and Lyft tip here in South Florida. I even have a card that explains about tipping and how the Wright shares are ripping them off as well as us.
I’m a Uber driver
My rating is 4.99
But I don’t get a ton of tips.very inconsistent.
people don't tip because uber charges them double what they used to pay a year ago .
It’s a shame that’s the drivers have to work for tips , this is what Uber has become , I don’t drink for tips , I work for cash , I love private rides
My problem is not the customer not tipping. My problem is actually getting it
If you’re gonna have somebody on the show telling people how to make more tips… At least have him show proof of what his tip percentage/earnings are
Amen!
I'll try these tips.
It’s all in the delivery… The same message, can be said many different ways depending on the tone of your voice/volume/etc.
What a sad waste of my time. This cutie gets tips for the same reason pretty waitresses do, but that's not something that can help everyone.
#4, Not
I just work out and wear a tight shirt 😂😂😂
How about let rides knows that they are on the camera 🎥!!! 🤨
If you are recording in your vehicle you should have a sign or a sticker that says they’re being recorded.
@@AaronTyson Not so, if in a single-party consent state for video and audio recording. This means that only one party involved in the conversation or event needs to consent to the recording.
I used to get $80-120 in tips nightly in my navigator but with ubers high rates and Joflation obidumbnomics tips have been cut in half! Trump 2024!!
Driving for a year not enough, to know how people used to tip 10 years ago, they appreciate it, now they think we are slav.s cuz they paid money for this ride, it’s sad but true, only 20-30% of rides who still appreciate what we do!

If you have been driving full time for a year how come you are only at 1,000 trips? I beat 4,700 in 9 months so that seems really low to me.
I’ve been driving full-time for two years and I’m barely at 3900 trips… but then again I stay away from the short trips
Agreed (((
It’s actually good, you can give them a story on how good your hometown, things to see, food to eat.

Then they see my Alabama hat and if they're from the south they get it. If they're from anywhere else they ask why and I explain it's just a college football rivalry. 😂😂
Just find what works for you. But if people talking to you bothers you, you should probably get a job doing manual labor. No one will talk to you then. Except the boss when he cusses you out for doing it wrong 😂😂
This guy is a basic beta
Desperately asking for reviews from a script makes one look vulnerable and weak to some riders.
Food, snacks, karaoke machine, disco lights, drybar etc. etc.
But don't forget the most important part, a big red clown nose to complete the show!🥳🤡
I don't think it is beneficial to have snacks or drinks in the ride.
Don't say anything, I don't do small talk.
I tread carefully into this. A lot of time that's right. But a lot of riders in my area want to talk.
@@kennethlee4894 Sorry. I wasn't clear. I agree it's different driver v. rider, but I'm a rider. I don't do small talk, I could never be a driver if tips depended on it.
I generally give one word answers, not rudely, and the hint is usually gotten.
Yeah we should dance and sing as well 😂
😂
Welcome to working a service job my guy.
@@nikidelvalle I know, after 9 years 🤮
Tippers going to tip same for none tippers 😅
🤔
In my experience, the first 5 seconds into the ride is when I have to figure out if they want a conversation or silence during the ride. My script for every passenger I pick up that works for me is:
Greeting: Hello!
💯
Agree 100%
I never ask them to leave a review because I dont want them to feel I was fake just for a review. I get quite a bit of tips tbh but I also get some saying I'll tip u in the app, if I say I will I will I'm not like that and then they dont lol, even after making a stop they didnt add. SMH we cant change liers lol so why try
What a load a crap.
Great point
Wow !!that’s exactly what I do,I always keep my car clean y yes stay quiet unless they start a conversation.👏👏👏
Bro I haven’t eaten in a couple of days.
Good advice. Clean interior and windows of course
💯
I always greet, I always ask if the temp is good and if they'd like to charge anything.....then if the conversation goes it goes, if not then sobeit....if they are quiet then I am quiet and I never hint about tips. If they want to tip then they will tip, if not then they won't.
Ok tip #4 is actually good. 😅
Riders like a good laugh. I have a tip sheet for tourists visiting LV. Many want to save money. They'll open their wallets if you recognize cues.
Secret to good smelling car. Calming pillow mist! You can get them anywhere, really calming smells that majority enjoys. Not really strong, like a perfume. Just settle enough.
People think we get most the money so why tip
Love this. I have been doing everything you suggested already! Great Video!
This a video Harry bought, possibly from Uber. Would it kill this guy to introduce himself? Is it completely necessary for this guy to speak like he's had one expresso too many? And he's at 50% tip Ratio? He's been working fulltime for over a year and he's just now hitting 1000 trips?
The thousand rides doesn’t actually surprise me as I’ve been driving over two years and I barely have 3900 rides… he might just take longer rides cherry, picking them
This guy also has his own channel where he shows really really high Uber fares coming through that he must get from having an Uber Black type account
He is on on the East Coast… and the ride category that he gets I don’t see out here in California
I disagree with number 3. I had a customer say that she doesn't tip unless the driver talks to her during the ride
The passenger is the one who should set the drop off location. By using the pin that says set on map. Other wise it will default to thr common drop off spot. Unfortunately it's is best to ask since people choose not to set the drop off pin
If you're not originally from America A lot of people do not get tip for emigrant
Another thing a lot of people going to work they don't give tip
Not necessarily apparently drivers cancel alot if they see an Hispanic name. Had riders repeatedly thank me for picking them up and flip me 10 and 20 bucks at end of fare. There's always exceptions.
I disagree that rider fares are getting more expensive, in fact they’re actually are going down.
They are. You might not get the money , ask your passengers youll see
I agree… One thing I pay attention to as well is I see Uber is taking less money than what a lot of people claim they are taking… I have been driving for two years and I’m making the same money that I started making when I started driving
Only clowns still doing rideshare in 2024
your the clown? lmao!
@@damoneymaker I’m on W2 with full benefits and only doing food delivery as side hustle….all you who still doing rideshare are truly doing the clowns work
@@lyft2uber2doordash41 well since you brought up being a clown… I would say only clowns would do food delivery versus Uber… As it is more work and less money overall… And how do you know most of us doing rideshare aren’t doing it as a side hustle as well?
@@UberDriverChat
Doing food delivery is better and safer I don’t have to drive far away and I can make a quick $100 from 5-8pm and only drive 30 miles total. You clowns who still doing rideshare are truly a clown 😂
@@UberDriverChat
Anyone who still doing rideshare are 100% clowns
This is absolutely stupid
