Well, the click is one thing, but I like being able to creep up to the torque on critical fasteners. You can also do rolling torque with that torque wrench and angles. It really is several tools in one.

i've seen a Swedish mechanic machining thin grooves around the cylinder heads to make a housing for a copper wire ring, which will give a bit extra pressure to the gasket where it needs most.he said that it is possible to perform if the cylinder head is measured 100% flat digitally.

As a fan of Mopar and Muscle cars in general, I am forever fascinated by the size of these Subaru engines. They pack such a powerful punch while they are so compact. The only thing I can really relate to this is my v45 Honda Magna, but even then, that's a MOTORCYCLE!!!! This engine is going in a whole car! Incredible. Thanks for the awesome tear down video. Interesting to learn new things about engines that I have never even figured I would work on before let along see the inside of at all.
I'm currently training to become an aircraft mechanic, and honestly; lathes, cnc machines, welding equipment. I dont think I'll ever be nervous working with that stuff. But goddam, working with straight razors just puts me on edge.
My grandpa told me that the Subaru flat 4 is a great engine because it's so simple and the only one that he could remember how everything came apart and where each minor detail went. After watching this I can definitely see how he came to that conclusion it is very neatly laid out, nice video.

Then you remove the crankshaft again and look how stretched the string is using the measuring tape you saw in the video. A certain amount of stretch relates to a certain clearance between the shaft and the bearing. If this is not in spec you must sand down the bearing or buy bigger ones. So the string is the tool to measure it

To be completly honest, at first i was unsure what to think of the video ideea. But now i find it quiet satisfying. It summs up the part that makes beeing a mechanic in your free time verry nice. Peacefully assembling something without interruotance of anyone or anything and just enjoying the work and the nice tools.
This is what I thought about the whole time. It took me back in time to tearing down rotaries and putting them back together. I'd love to see one with a rotary engine in it for the ultimate nostalgic trip. This video was therapeutic, it was so beautiful.
