    This is like the best lego set in the world. Watching that whole camshaft assembly get put on top of the block was like building a lego and it makes you take a detour to build a different part and then you put it all together and it looks amazing. This is truly one of the best things I've watched.

    It sure looks easier to replace the timing belt, water pump and main seal when the engine is on an engine stand than what I had to endure changing those parts while the engine is in situ.

      working on an engine on a stand is an absolute dream compared to bending over or laying around on the ground underneath the car. I've done my timing belt in the car, and also dropped the trans and changed the clutch under the car. Now I have my whole engine and trans out of the car, and it's so much easier.

  • @Nasonix2
    @Nasonix2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So happy to get to see it happen. Couldnt of hoped for more. For those of us who have built engines before, it's time investing! Let alone video recording and editing such a slick assembly compilation.
    This is awesome you could probably do so much with this engine. I'm a little concerned with the crank being able to handle high boost though. In theory it should but who knows. That's the thing I don't know of anyone else that has run the level you might intend on it. Is there anyone else running upper 400's whp on them? If not I'm worried that it might be intended for natural aspirated builds (all out n/a builds) hense the cast material. Don't get me wrong cast cranks can still make 400+whp.
    But my thinking is it shares the same counter weight design as the forged cranks and we know that it's not favorable for high RPM's. All I *know* for sure is the M-motorsports crank is cast however the metal alloys used is supposed to be better than the OEM Miata one. The better design at the nose of the crank (will help mains). In theory I think it should be good for what you made before but I just don't know for sure I'm just worried since nobody else has committed their build to the unknown like you'd be doing.
    It's awesome 👍

I'm not removing the head or doing anything internal, but replacing all external seals, gaskets, o-rings, all new coolant hoses, oil pan sealing, etc. Just ordered all my parts yesterday. I build my 2012 Mazdaspeed3 engine from bare block to handle 500hp. Using Mazda edit software , I tune it on RON100 pump gas to just 310hp/470Nm@1.2bar. That was 3 years ago and many smiles for miles with zero issue and still counting.
    I up grade the air filters , top mount intercooler+plumbing , HPFP , BPV, downpipe, pistons+con rods, valve springs+seals, injector seals , main bearings, head+girdle bolts , balance shaft+EGR+cat delete , solid rear motor mount.
    Still on stock turbo+manifold and cams. Stock intake manifold+throttle body. Stock piston+valve size. Stock resonators and silencers. Stock passenger+driver motor mounts. Stock flywheel+clutch.
    Honestly I can't never been happier with many others 300hp Speed3 with stock internals tend to blow up when they up the boost and driven hard. It's the high torque that will punch a hole through the block.
    If I was to upgrade the turbo+manifold , I wud probably tune it to 380hp - 420hp on pump gas with the core foundation has been properly set up.

    When installing the oil seal, I think it is appropriate to apply grease to the lip before attaching it. If you are unlucky, the contact surface of the oil seal may burn during the initial engine start. It also increases the durability of the oil seal. It's a cool video showing engine maintenance down to the smallest detail, so I wanted to share the information and make it meaningful.

    Great music choice and sharp videography. Very satisfying to watch. Love the one-handed Allen wrench tightening. Thanks.

    Really Zen video to watch, no chat, just letting the parts and the process tell the story. Well done sir. you earned a like & subscribe from an ND owner.

    Mesmerizing. Learned a lot. Great filming. ASMR was a good choice. (High recommend the Flying Miata valve compressor/keeper tool. So much easier).

    Sweet build, but advice, are you sure you should be adding permatex to the oil pump? If it squeezes inside, dries, and breaks free it is going to plug a journal or bearing oil feed somewhere. I have a Ford modular and there is no gasket material there. Metal on metal. Let the oil pump and regulator do the work, even if there is a tiny leak it will be fine.

    Great stuff! Though on 10:34 on the left side can be seen that you made RTV bead straight down rear main seal housing while in reality should bend to the outer edge after clearing that centering dowel. That is because there is nothing in contact with the block in that straight down area, but there is metal in contact further outside to the side. This can be seen on Mazda Workshop Manual
