    One of my uncles had 2 Super 88's from the 50's. I pulled a 4 row rottery hoe with one of them in 5th gear. In the mid 60's he bought 2 1850 gas with 6-14 semi mounted plows. I also got to drive one of them in the spring of '67, before I left for a southern Calif. USAF base, plowing with his DAD. We managed to do 40 acres in a day in 2 different 20 acre fields. That was great fun and the last time I ever plowed anything.

    The tip about the battery disconnect is great! I've got a 770 with aftermarket power steering, wide front, and a nice hole in the hood.

      I’ve been using the disconnects for years and it definitely saves your battery.

    My Dad's Super 88 when I was growing up had the Char-Lynn power steering, loved it until the pump went out, then changed it to a Ford PS pump. Also it had one long hydraulic lever and one short one.

    Grandpa had a super 88 (before my time) and promptly painted the green wheels clover white 😁

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was a common thing in the 60’s and 70’s. I know some dealers even painted them that way to help sell the used tractors!

    She runs really smooth. Great educational video on the differences between the tractors. One thing you didn’t mention was the change of the battery cover. I believe it was mid year of 57 they changed from the hinged lid to the 4 screw lids. I like the hinged lid better myself. But the removable lid allows more room to work on the cables.

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s true. I find that I forget things while I’m filming. It’s like the camera gives you a case of the stupids 🤣. Sometimes I go back and voice over it in, but most of the time I just mention it in another video. Unfortunately I don’t have an Improved Super like you mentioned which came out in 1957. That’s when they switched back to Red Wheels, bolt on battery cover, Key Start for Diesels, and All models 12 bolt charging system.

    I've seen fenders rolled under before. It looks like someone might have turned to short with a side delivery hay rake and run it up the back tire

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had a lot of trouble flipping our NH rake with the 4 digit tractors. If you turned to short the claw of the 3pt would catch the frame of the rake and roll it. Luckily we never got it into the fenders, but I definitely see how that could happen.

    Hey Ross as of current I have a farmall H and Oliver’s are not to common in northeast Ohio and the want a super 88 or 88 diesel what should I expect to pay for one of those in decent condition also what should I expect to pay for a 1755

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Boy, you picked two of the most popular models. And nowadays they bring anything. I would say a super 88 you’re going to be in the $3500+ range and the 1755 $6000+. All depends on the condition and the tires etc.
