We had a TO-20 Ferguson on the first dairy I worked on as a kid. Been on the same farm since new in 1950. We used it to scrap the cow yard every day. I can't think of one time it didn't start.

Older tractors just as handy as a big fancy one. When something goes wrong, you can fix it underneath the shade tree.

Thank you for a great tutorial on hub & bearing rebuilding. Could you tell me how much vertical play is acceptable in the spindle? Is there a thrust bearing in the bottom of the spindle? I have a late model 1755 with no hub seal and, as I have now discovered upon disassembly, a bad inner bearing and vertical spindle play of about 1/4 inch. My Oliver shop manual (a Jensales reprint) does not have an exploded view of the hub or spindle assemblies.

I like using the permitex aviation gasket maker because I can use it like a glue to keep the gasket in place but don't have to worry about a bunch stringy crap getting somewhere it shouldn't.
