- I was able to borrow my uncle's tedder and get the hay spread out to dry better. The 66 was busy most of the day doing that and raking with the Oliver 105. The Super 88 rounded out the day making bales in my brother's yard using the 720 baler.
The Oliver stuff was just so darn good. So far ahead of everyone else!
That brought back some great memories! Just the distinct sound of the engine and the rear end. I baled a lot of hay with a Super 88 Diesel in the 80's through the early 2000's in the hills of southeast Indiana. Parents sold the farm in 2002 and I haven't driven a tractor since. I really miss the farm and love coming across theses old videos to reminisce with.
My 66 has never disappointed me my grandfather bought it new factory 3point wide front and electrical hydraulics. It is rough but i still love her and she never backs down 20" hammer mill grinding ear corn or 2 16" plow as deep as i want bailing hay it's the small tractor that could
Great job, happy farming! Hi 👋 from Ireland thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
When I worked on a farm in Pa, the tractors were so easy to run, now you have to have a degree in computer science now days. It'd just like anything else it has to change. I like old school tractors, foot on the clutch turn the key and put it in gear and do your work.
I envy the 66! That Super 88 is a sweet machine as well. Nice video!
Wow!! What a find on that 66! That's awesome! How could you pass that up for sure! Nobody tedds hay around here. Donno why. But... there's not much for hay around here anyway, all corn! well... except this year there's a lot of beans. That S88 and baler setup is AWESOME! That is one very nice setup right there! HA!! The 66 at the end! Hilarious! Thanks for the video!
Thanks! Tedding has really caught on around here. It will knock a day off your dry time, and rescue hay that has been rained on. I'm going to start shopping for one.
Sweet baler Chris I still bale with an Oliver #50 baler, bales like a champ.
Never knew the 66 was available in anything but gas. My grandfather had a Row Crop 66 gas.
Great video! Nice 66! Got say the super 88 are my favorite I have 3. 1954,55,56 to diesel one gas!
I've got a 57 gas narrow front as well. Great tractors!
My nephew has a super 88 but it the hood is like a 880 over the battery and a key switch as well. Does your 57 have that to?
Yes. They enlarged the battery cover for 57. That makes it an improved Super. Other improvements were key start as regular equipment, gas engine became factory 12 volt, and the word Oliver was embossed in the fenders. I think the tach became regular equipment as well.
Good to know! Did them come with the power adjust wheels then as well?
Power adjust rims first became an option in 57, as well as 15.5-38 tires. Power adjust rims were silver from the factory. I don't know the reason, my guess would be to show off the new option.
I have a two basket Kuhn Tedder looks similar to the one your using.
As always nice video that competition tractor looks good I wonder is the plow still in the box from when they went overseas I remember it was still there when I was . These videos bring back good memories.
thanks again Chris
Dad's competition plow is all together, and I don't think he ever took it over seas. Some of the other guys did, but I haven't found a plow in a crate as of yet. There is a 1 bottom walking plow that I now have on display that grandpa supposedly bought when they were in Ireland. He found it at a hardware store over there, bought it and had it shipped back. It has never been in the ground.
How could you pass that up! Around here you findem all the time gas narrow front! Great little tractor
I have a gas narrow front that is all torn down (not by me) and the pieces aren't all together. I kept saying I was going to put that one back together, then this came along. That was much easier!
Another cool video! Nice 66!! Are Diesels are a little harder to find in that model? Like you said with the wide front and three point there are probably not to many like that out there. The Super 88 is a really nice looking tractor, did you restore it? It looks in really good shape. I hope you get around to making a video of all your equipment someday! We have a S88 with red wheels, large battery box cover, key switch, disc brakes and wide draw bar. I am not sure what year it is exactly because the tag is missing, but I have been told its prob. a late one. I am not a hay guy so I was going to ask why you were not using a wagon while baling but you answered my question during the video. Thanks..
66 diesels are on the rare side, plus I have 2 77s and 2 88s, so I needed a 66 to have a compete set of the three beauties. We overhauled the engine on the Super 88 in 91, ran it for a year, then brought it back in and restored it in the winter of 92-93. It has almost 10,000 hours on it now. Sounds like your Super 88 is either a 57 or a 58. If your Super 88 has the original engine, the Floyd County Museum might be able to find your tractor serial number using your engine serial number. That number should be running vertically up the block, right above the right rear motor mount. You can find the museum's contact info at www.floydcountymuseum.org
@@ThatOliverGuyChris Wow that tractor looks good for that may hours and being redone for awhile now. I'll check on that number. I have gotten manuals and build cards from there before.
It got the spit and shine last fall before I crossed the Mackinac Bridge with it.
Chis have you ever mentioned what rd the store is on? Thanks
For privacy reasons, no, I have not.
Is there anything I should know about a 620 or 630 Oliver baler?
Nothing out of the ordinary, just look out for normal wear, loose parts, etc. They were a good baler.
@@ThatOliverGuyChris thankyou I know I can trust you bc u have a lot of Oliver's and keep up the good vids
You shouldn't Ted alfalfa It will knock the leaves off
It's not too bad if you get it before the dew burns off, and for as wet as it was underneath, it was ted or rot.
Dude, your camera is little out focus
Do you raise anything other than old tractor's? Lol
I raise my wife's blood pressure, does that count?
