  • David Kalsem from Huxley, Iowa grew up farming with Oliver Tractors. In 1951 his family bought their very first Oliver Tractor, a 77 Row Crop. Then in 1955 the family traded in the 77 for an Oliver Super 88 Gas with wide front. David still owns this tractor and has shared his passion of Oliver Tractors with his son Mike.

1954, this Oliver is the same age as me. It looks much better. Obviously I need a restoration job too.

I remember the neighbor had a 66 and he would park it in the fence row with a soup can on the muffler all winter. He would go change oil in it in the spring, jump start it and away he would go. This was back in the 1950s, he rented the farm next to the farm we lived on for a few years and the tractor was his only tractor. I never saw him with it broken down. Great tractors, a shame they went out of business.

that is still a great tractor, they have power and weight and you can do almost any job with them. i like how smooth they run. they were good on gas too.

My Dad used to say an Oliver on steel wheels would go through so much snow it'd push the driver off the seat... then he'd laugh!! We had a 70 (on rubber)... mostly it pulled an AC small round baler. :-)

Our Oliver 77 diesel, during the summer, was used exclusively on a NH baler. After 15 years, my uncle got a 3020, which took over that duty. Dad
Had that tractor until he retired, and sold it to a collector. Still my favorite tractor.

We had a super 88 diesel. Smooth running and very efficient on fuel. Easiest steering tractor I ever drove, at least without power steering.

Otis Inman bote his super 88 out of a creek bed and got it started smoking and clacking as he drove it home in 1st. an 2nd gear as that fall put it in a garage then spring with new completed over hall with a new clutch and pressure plate. It would a 14 and 16 foot one behind the other 125 pound hay bells, 7 hi in 1st. gear on a 45 degree hill with no problem. I miss that old Oliver. I miss that old Oliver. Eire IN. Mark Inman

This was probably filmed 10 years ago. I have noticed on a lot of their videos that they were recorded several years ago.

The Super 88 used the Oliver/Waukesha 190 engine. It was a 265- cubic-inch engine. If you ever want to see vintage Oliver's at work check out Chris Losey's TH-cam channel. He farms with Oliver and White tractors.

@RacerX Reloaded Allis Chalmers had many innovations in the tractor world. They were the first to offer rubber tires as an option and the first to sell rubber tires as standard equipment. They also pioneered the Power shift wheel that many manufacturers used. They produced the first diesel wheeled farm tractor to come standard with a Turbo. Along with designing the first ever round baler and building some of the best pull type harvesters on the market. Among many other great achievements.

B C The oliver 77 would out work it with ease and it was the mid size model. I like all old tractors but lets be real here . We owned John Deere Farmall and Olivers. Olivers put the power to the ground smooth power and live pto was hard to beat . They also had some powerful heavy duty diesels to the early 70s with efficient transmissions. White bought Oliver and Minneapolis out and not long after they were gone.

Oliver66FarmBoy I’m not necessarily saying it’s not, but the air cleaner/hose seem like the 77 style. Could be a farmer fix.🤷🏻‍♂️

That one has the Zenith Carb on it, they used different air cleaners. This one has a Marvel Schebler, its the correct cleaner for that carb per the parts book.
