    Hey everyone, I'm so excited to share this fun and challenging power yoga class with you today! This is a 35 minute yoga class working on the niyama of tapas which is about austerity, discipline and determination.
    Tapas is about building heat in the body as a form of purification. For this class, we'll be holding poses for a bit longer than you might be used to as a way to generate that heat and challenge ourselves physically and mentally. This is a great class to help you work through mental and emotional blocks and challenges.
    The yamas and niyamas come from the 8 limbs of yoga as outlined by the sage Patanjali. If you'd like to learn more about this, try my Yama & Niyama online course: bit.ly/ywkyama
    Rest assured there will be plenty of stretchy breaks throughout so that you can find your rhythm and care for yourself. It's an intermediate full body yoga class with no props required.

    I am a bodyworker and longtime yogini, and I live with chronic pain from an autoimmune condition and connective tissue disorder. I have to be very mindful of my movement bc things easily slide out of place if I’m too loose, but with too much strength I am tight and sore. This is a class I’ve come back to now 8 or 9 times because the stability it brings to my joints reliably staves off any injury in my working life, and is always a much needed invitation to simplify and purify. Thank you so much, and I can’t wait for more classes like these from you 😊❤

    I didn’t want to do yoga today. I definitely didn’t want to do power yoga. My body is stiff, I’m tired after work, and my mood is a bit blah. I did it anyway. These things are still here, but I feel better. Accomplished, less achey, a clearer mind, and a happier heart. “Thank you” doesn’t quite show the amount of appreciation I have for you and your practices - mind and body. A virtual hug might have to work 🤗

    I DID IT! I PERSEVERED. Thank you so much for your guidance and time on the mat. This was definitely challenging, but I enjoyed the practice. I would definitely enjoy more like this. It feels great to hold longer poses, breath, and focus when I make time for it. My mind, body, and spirit feels better this morning.😅❤️😊

    Finding stillness while in the depths of struggle builds the tapas, the fire, to preserve, to build the strength, knowing that on the other side, there will be peace.
    Thank you for this practice; it was exactly what I needed as a reminder that I'm going to power through but seek moments of stillness because peace will come again soon.

    I loved this class, I’ve just lost my job, so am in a total dreamlike state of anxiety about what to do next. This practice really reminded me to persist and not give up when challenged, I feel I have weaken in body and spirit, so am heading off this week to do more challenging strength training, so thankyou (again) ❤ for a wonderful class.

    I love the mindfulness aspect of yoga and your reminders to Check in with our thoughts when we are uncomfortable. Whenever I felt myself thinking I was too pathetic or too stiff, I caught that and changed it to a more positive thought like “I’m pushing myself beyond my comfort zone and it’s ok to feel uncomfortable “ love this thank you ❤

    I just have to let you know Kassandra, I appreciate you. I was struggling with anxiety and pent up energy at my heart center when I decided to do this. I was able to release it and felt such better after this practice.I let go of what was bothering me because it really was out of my control. I had some tea and a peaceful night of rest. Thank you❤ You are truly gifted.

    I DID IT!!!! I didn't fall out of any poses and fought tooth and nail to keep steady breathing. I kept repeating this in my head to keep me going "Just because it's hard doesn't mean I have to stop... Just because it's difficult doesn't mean I can't do it"... And it worked.. I didn't know I had a mind so strong and my body and soul are singing harmoniously this morning ✨ Thank you Kassandra

    I loved this class! Oftentimes if things are moving too quickly I feel like I don’t have a chance to get any activation/stretch or even catch my balance. Would love to see more of these in the future!

    I've never done a power yoga class simply because the name alone is intimidating. I decided to give this a try because all your classes are amazing. 🥰 What a powerful class! Yin is my passion and this was literally a power yin class with short holds. I'm so thankful I practiced with you today and learned something new (as usual). 💖

    I would love more of these! During challenging times, challenging poses really help us dig in a bit and recognize that we can do hard things intentionally. Not by being forced by outside forces, but by standing in our own power and facing the work with faithful curiosity. Thank you 🙏🏾

    I thoroughly enjoyed this practice & I for one would definitely love more sessions like this one. I do prefer the 20 - 30 minute practices more than I do the shorter ones in all honesty. I can't wait to do this one again.

    This is the longest practice I've done in a while. I've been falling into a bit of a slump lately and dealing with some challenges in life which have been lasting much longer than I expected. When I searched for "power yoga" earlier looking for something to get the blood pumping and you started off by talking about perseverance and supporting oneself... it was a perfect moment of serendipity. Thanks Kassandra for all the excellent yoga guidance.

    Thanks Kassandra ! I have been following your videos for last few years. My wrist problem got resolved and overall 20 / 30 mins intermediate and advanced yoga really helps. You are a wonderful teacher. I have been practicing Yoga for 27 years and I very well know you are just an amazing instructor who understand limitations and injuries of people.

    Thank you dear Kassandra for this strong class. It was easy for me at that moment, but I'm sure there will be times when I'll certainly feel the challenge too. 😁 It would be great to have classes like this in a longer form, maybe 45-55 minutes, and it would be great if you did a more cardio-like power yoga session from time to time.

    Wonderful class! More like this please! I have been practicing for many years and love to challenge myself on the mat. But so many practitioners think “power yoga” can only mean quick, acrobatic vinyasa and lots of movement. I have a connective tissue disorder that makes my joints hyper mobile, and just because I can do power vinyasa doesn’t mean it’s safe for my body. So I loved having a class that was really challenging and engaging, but that made me feel stronger in my body, and since I wasn’t so concerned with alignment as I’m constantly changing shape, I was able to tune in even better and feel integrated in every pose. Thank you!!

    Wow,, this was exactly what I needed. I registered this morning for a free trial in an online gym. I couldn't even watch the first 1min, it was so stressful and not fun at all. Moving my body with your class was so so perfect, this is how I wanna redefine sports again. Mindful, empowering, compassionate. I am feeling amazing.     Hi, from Japan! This power yoga works for my 6 months lasted back pain. Somehow this long holding sequence corrected my posterior chain. The pain did not completely gone but ease the pain. Thank you, Kassandra!

    This was just what i needed! I feel like with a lot of Yoga flows it doesn’t take enough time in the poses and once i arrived in a pose the class already moves on so this was perfect to really get settled in.

    Having been on holiday with no regular practice on the mat, I have to say that I am very proud to find that this is exactly what I needed. I perservered even through the underarm plank, but found humble warrior surprisingly difficult. Thank you for this wonderful preactise and your guidance.

    What keeps me going has long been thinking about my best friend, and how I can help make our lives better. Unfortunately she's no longer with us, but my inner image of her still gives me strength, amidst the nostalgia and the sadness.

    "Lingering in discomfort." That really is the only way to grow, getting outside one's little comfort box. Appreciate the more challenging strength theme. Would love to see more strength-based classes in the future.

    I found out that not the criticism on yourself but words of support and love helped me to go through the hardest poses. Same as in life. I am very thankful for this ♥♥

    I really like this one. The longer I practice, the more invested I have become in longer holds. They do us good both by building strength and allowing the body to release. Thank you!

    I enjoyed holding poses longer. It allows me to deeply breathe, feel the energy move within, do more subtle adjustments. And I loved using the heat consciously to clear my mind and remind myself that I am brave, and that what seems scary is not so scary when we take the time to breathe! Merci 😘

    Thank you Kassandra for this good practice. Holding humble warrior on my left side was a doozie. However, it reminded me about life. Even though we are strong, to always walk humbly. Thank you for the reminder of who I am and what's in me.

    The arthritis in my shoulders has made the traditional up/down, in/out "marching band" movements of flow classes inaccessible to me. This class provided strength and stamina building with time to move in and out of poses safely. I LOVED it!!

    Truly one of my favourite classes of yours, and one that I come back to the most. Love the long holds and unrushed transitions, feels so great to work on strength in a slow-paced way. Leaves me feeling so good. Would love more such classes.

    A couple of things that I learned about myself in this practice.. just because I can doesn't mean that I should. There was a times in this practice where I was going to just give up and the one thing that came to mind was (just because you can doesn't mean that you should)
    . Also learn the importance of being patient with myself as I was holding different poses and being very patient with the poses I should be with myself as well this was really good for me.

    Kassandra, this was a great practice. I am very comfortable with this level of difficulty and effort but it certainly makes me sweat! Thank you. More intermediate level power practice are very welcome.

    challenging, but not in a discouraging way. thank you for being upfront about both how the poses challenged you and about how many breaths were left in the harder ones! it made it that much easier for me to push onwards. i hope you do more of these!

    Lately I have been doing a lot of power vinyasa flows from your channel and the other day I decided to change it up with a “slow flow”. I realized at the end that it had been so challenging in a whole new way 😅 loved this one as well. Not just a physical action but takes mental stamina too! Thanks Kassandra 💙

    Love Power yoga, please post more! I have osteopenia and I can’t help but think that holding the poses for longer will keep the osteopenia at bay as I age. Thanks again, love your classes I do your videos daily.
