    1 thread on the kingpin = 1 full turn of the kingpin nut. 3 threads = 3 full turns, etc. I thought this was obvious but based on a couple comments, seems not. Counting turns is a better way of tuning than counting threads because try measuring half a thread, or even a quarter thread…

    As a downhill longboarder who weighs 140 pounds, I don't have a problem with tightening my trucks too much. I agree with you, though man. Honestly, if you are tightening your trucks more than two rotations, just get bushings with a harder durometer.

    Starting point and consistency. That's how how do mine. But I did learn when is to tight. Mine are just right. Best video on how to adjust trucks by far. On board with this method.

I just purchased a WowGo 3X (using your discount code) and before I rode it for the first time I followed your videos on how to adjust the belts, adjust the trucks, and replace the wheels (I just added bearings to the rear wheels because it shipped with only one bearing in each of the rear wheels).       @@keithy4129 The rear wheels are driven by pulleys. There is a bearing in the pulley and only one bearing in each rear wheel. I think they really need two bearings with a spacer between the bearings and speed rings between the inside bearing and the pulley. This provides support to the wheel bearings. I've read where the bearings on the rear wheels of the Wowgo 3x have failed because they don't have this support. But that's just my opinion. I am not an expert on this. I'm just a novice.

      super brief: fatter bushings (like barrels) are stiffer and more progressive (more push back the more you turn), thinner bushings (like cones) are softer and less progressive. As for duro: bigger numbers (and later letters in the alphabet) means stiffer, and thus harder to lean the board/more stable ride.

    Was running Paris V3's on my main deck the last ~4 years with stock bushings and had 10+ threads showing lol. Gonna get me some nice super hard bushings.

      that's super tight! You should probably get some stiff barrels. Most brands suggest a duro based on weight, and replace the cone in the paris' with a barrel.

    long shot i know but what or where could i find the rack you were using in this video for storing your boards as im searching for a similar solution but am having no luck what so ever. it looks like the perfect solution for storing all of my boards (eskate, regular and snow)

    Hey Daniel, so I just got the Wowgo Knight (hub) and your review on it was very helpful. Thank you.
    I took it for my first ever eskate ride yesterday and it was great! The turning radius isn't great so I followed the steps shown in this video and instantly (before I even took it for a ride) the board (trucks and/or bushings) are creaking...not squeaking but creaking. I tried re-tightening them how it was before but the sound is still there. I took out the bushings and trucks and cleaned any dirt I saw and made sure to put everything back how it was but it didn't fix anything. The noise isn't unbearable but you definitely can't ignore it.
    Before putting soap on all the parts like some youtubers are saying, I just wanted to get your feedback (or anyone that can help) because the board is brand new so I don't think it has to do with any wear.
    PS: this is my first ever board so I really don't have any experience lol.

      The sound is normal. You can put a tiny bit of lube on the bushings and pivot cup to get rid of that. Soap shavings are fine too.

      The sound usually comes from the pivot cup not the bushings. Put grease on it. Or skating wax. Soap shavings work but just temporarily.

    You shouldn't get harder bushings if your ride is too soft. You should go from cones to barrels, or barrels to half eliminators or full eliminators. The hardness depends on the weight of the rider and doesn't change. The different bushing shapes are designed to give you different handling without going outside the "sweet spot" of the bushing rebound for a given weight.

    I’ve watched this video a few different times. I just got a new setup and tightened my trucks your way instead of my way and now I think I’ve been tightening my trucks too much for years now. I normally tighten till it feels stable enough.

      Yeah, you can tighten bushings too far if you don't care too much about their longevity. But buying stiffer bushings will always be better than cranking down your current ones in terms of predictability and feel.

    NIce Video! I have a question in regards to this actually too.
    My wowgo 3 I think has a short kingpin on the rear trucks compared to the Front Paris Trucks, Because of this, I feel like my trucks are kinda tight because of the amount of compression my bushings are taking since there's not enough length on the kingpin to have it safely right. What should I do in this case? Should I tighten it enough so that the nut is on the kingpin enough so that it's less likely to come off, or should I tighten it up to the point where it catches more of the kingpin, but compresses the bushes more than what's recommended?

      Check if the kingpin is centered in the hole in the hanger. If not, you might need to pull up the hanger a bit to get the bushings to sit properly in the bushing seats. If that doesn't solve it, you could try flipping the kingpin nut around so that the nylon is on the bolt threads, so you don't need to screw it in as far. Or get a shorter road-side bushing. Also be sure to check with WowGo if needed.

      I've reassembled and disassembled the truck numerous times, all of which where the kingpin was centre and bushings were sitting properly (at least to my eye on inspection) on the hangar. Always had difficulty at the end since there wasn't enough lead on the kingpin for the nut, so I had to compress the bushings manually with my thumbs to get enough to be able to start tightening the nut.
      I bought some orangatang nipples recently to see if just changing the bushings will help, but I suspect that the rear kingpin might be shorter than the front one since that was also found on the wowgo 2.

      A more invasive solution would be buying a replacement kingpin. I'm not sure how the trucks on that board are, but most truck brands offer a replacement kingpin. Contact wowgo before you do this though, it would definitely void any warranty you have.

    I’m looking at getting some new trucks, I’m thinking of the Paris V3 180mm 50* or the caliber 3’s (same angle and size) which would be better for cruising and commuting? If it helps I’m 200lbs in weight

      Either one should be fine. Think I’d go for Caliber 3 tho for the Venom plug barrel compatibility.

    Does this apply to eskateboards as well? At higher speeds, speed wobble can get gross with unbalanced pneumatic tires.

      Applies to eboards with RKP trucks, and probably TKP. Doesn’t apply to DKP trucks except for Exway’s.

      The easiest way is to adjust the boardside kingpin sections to be as tight as possible so they move as little as possible, and then adjust the roadside kingpins the same way you would on reverse kingpin trucks.

    I put new bushings on my gullwing mission 1 trucks but every time I try to get on my board it leans too much to the left and I cant even get on the board. Any help would be appreciated

      Hard to say without seeing it in person but generally speaking, the board is supposed to lean. You could consider taking the board to a skate shop and ask the staff to help.

      You don’t have to, but having the rear less maneuverable makes speed wobbles less likely to happen.

    I have barrel bushings and I ride down hill so I have my trucks really tight should I have them looser or tighter and does it being to tight cause rattling I'm having rattling problems and everything is new and tight and I can't figure out why it's rattling

      You can leave them tight for now but they’ll wear out faster. Tight shouldn’t cause rattling. Could be the spacer inside a wheel, or a bad bearing. Check the screws holding the baseplates also.

    One reason I generally don't agree with this 2 turns idea is because a lot of trucks have bushing seats slightly larger than a standard barrel, and deforming the bushing to fill the seat can be beneficial for consistency and stability.

    I just got my first longboard, and when I get to a certain speed it begins to rattle quite loudly, i don’t think it’s the wheels, and I feel like it’s the trucks, but I’m not rlly sure what to do.

      I find that rattling normally comes from the spacer inside one of the wheels (that tube between the bearings). Shake the board and see if you hear rattling from one of the wheels.
      Could also be a loose washer on the trucks.

    I ride an Ownboard Mini KT which is rather unstable, and I keep the trucks extremely tight. I can’t seem to get the back truck off to change the bushing because the cable is too short, any ideas?

      Doesn’t that board use those 9-pin cables that you can unplug? Worst case you just have to take off the ESC enclosure.

    Question, is it viable to go loose in the front, tight in the back? Or should i just go loose on both. My board is Zealot S

      You can. Personal preference. That would give you good turning radius and better carving in the front, but less stability overall. But if the back are pretty tight, you can compensate for the lack of stability a little bit in the front, while also getting more turning ability then if both trucks were "medium" tightness. Just gotta test it out for yourself.

    My caliber trucks are brand new, straight out the box, and they wont turn at all. ive tried loosening them, tightening them.. nothing works. my board leans, but my trucks dont move. Any advice?

      How is that possible? If it leans, it should turn, unless your baseplate is 0°.

    Hey, Daniel, thanks for this video. Question: Doesn't the truck adjustment and guideline have to take the rider's weight into consideration, too? So, what might feel too tight for one rider may not feel tight enough for a heavier rider?

      Weight, experience, personal preference, etc. You gotta test it out and adjust accordingly. Generally heavier riders need higher durometer bushings.

      If you’re sure it’s the bushing washer that’s rattling, then your truck might be too loose. Not necessarily ‘bad’ tho if that feels fine to you and nothing’s falling apart.

    I cant even tighten mine, my back wheels were put on great but the front trucks wont get "Flush" as you put it, it doesnt seem to go any further than where it's at and its super squeaky and annoying

      Are you using aftermarket parts? Could be your bushings are taller than stock bushings.

      Zealot’s stock bushings are quite hard. Try following the steps in this video.

      You can, but don’t have to. For higher speeds you may want to set the rear to be less maneuverable than the front. There are various ways to do that.

      Loose at low speeds. At higher speeds you’ll have less grip, you can go tighter for stability and still be able to slide.

      Basically the idea is to be able to turn as tight as you can while still maintaining stability at your higher speeds. whatever speed is the fastest you're comfortable with, adjust your trucks only as tight as you need to maintain stability at that speed.

    I think my bolts shorter from skating em i always skated with tight trucks till my homie showed me using his board how loose trucks let me catch rails n turn easier my boards bolts seem to short to make em lose tho

    Here I am slamming my bushings until they look like compressed pancakes lol I went from 92 to 95 now have 98a coming for my DKP trucks lol

      For most DKP trucks the bushings do need to be more compressed than on RKP trucks, even with hard duros.

    Actually I need new bushings. I Go murder hard doh-doh's on east coast 4 stair gaps to break them in . If you new to the board it's Ollie north tail grab practice instead.

    The 'finger-tight' thing, as a 'starting Point', means that it's 'Subjective' to begin with... And, really does NOT take into account Bushing resilience nor Hardness, and, obviously, not SHAPING (which as "PSR", the guy that 25 years ago, re-introduced the Stimulator, to DH'ers, and Inspired Venom by Zak).. YOU ARE Far better off, After your 'washer-spin&Dry-Cycle' Test, to COUNT Threads on the Kingpin! THAT's the EVIDENCE of Compression Force Applied! If you've got 4 threads exposed on a given truck (luges excepted) above the Nut, You're 'Crushing It'! By 'it', I mean your grouping of bushings. 1-to-5 threads of Exposed threading, Above-the-nut. Otherwise, look HARD at your Bushings, in Hardness, Shaping, Height, and Width, along-with, Your Washers!! Washers do come in various shapes, and thicknesses, too! Having a 'Selection Sources' of various Bushings, Matters!! They, the bushings, are CHEAP, so, Stock-up, Make Options, exchange as needed. "PRE SCHOOL RIDER" (was on ncdsa, b4 you were on a Tryke)

    I mean good video bit this leaves out so much info like the fact that both paris and caliber don't have the same length kingpin, it leave out duros which are a huge piece of picking bushings it leave out bushing shapes and you say they vary in size but that's not true all street teuck bushings are the same height all standard RKP trucks use the same size bushings only few RKP trucks use tall bushings, the lack of info makes this video nothing but subjective based off stock bushings and that doesn't help also bushings again come in duros which are geared towards certian weights I'm 215lbs I used 90a/91a front and 95a/95a back someone who's 180 isn't gonna get the same ride out of that set up as me even if they loosen the trucks and some teucks like my ronins can't be tighten passed 2 threads says the maker of the truck also 2 threads showing on caliber or paris isn't to tight at all in fact 2 threads showing was the standard for how tight you should go before people started getting into the technical side of things
