    I don't have the money to become a patreon for any channel (broke university student and all) but this is probably the only channel I would consider.
    I'm not 100% sure why. I think it's because it blows me away how difficult some of these videos would be to make.
    Keep making all of your awesome videos, cruncie!

    I found this out through trial and error, but HEARING it makes it make so much more sense. I found my happy medium with Venom 88a SHRs (though I run 91a boardside on my DH setup). The stock Paris bushings are a harder duro, but I don't like their rebound. The SHRs are more snappy, which feels great coming out of a carve...
    I'm a nerd. This video was helpful.

  • @christianteplitzkyvich-mac1365
    @christianteplitzkyvich-mac1365 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    One super simple tip on figuring out if you need harder or softer bushings is to tighten the nut until you cant turn the washer and the bushing by hand without using excess force.
    If it's too loose or too tight, swap the bushings yo.

    • @Dr_Footbrake
      @Dr_Footbrake 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christian Teplitzkyvich-MacPurvis This is what I do. When I skate vert I know with a new set of bones hard bushings I tighten to the point that the washer doesn’t jiggle, then tighten 2 full turns and I’m sweet to go. As the bushings soften I gradually tighten by a quarter turn. If I have to do that to the point of them being tightened 3 full turns I’ll get a new set and start over!

      Crunchie hey Crunchie I have bought my first board like 2 months ago Arbor BUG PREMIUM 2016 V, *36 X 8.5 | París 150mm 50 degree trucks | 65MM X 78A Arbor Mosh Wheels*, I live in NYC so the 'cold' is right around the corner. I wanted to spend at least 250.00$ for a good freestyle/downhill like the Arbiter DK maybe from Muir skate to have it custom made, what parts would you recommend on that deck for downhill/sliding I'm 5'8 175lbs - 180lbs I carry a lot of muscle, pretty much all around because I live in NYC and I would like it to commute as well... Or I could just always switch back to the board I have now to get in and out of those oblivious pedestrians and use the Arbiter DK for strict downhill/sliding etc. I'm actually a fast learner (very athletic), I feel very comfortable on my board now, according to this guy that works at Zumiez he saids the way I keep my trucks (loose) is the right thing to do and get use to, he thought I was riding for yrs, but I'm comfortable being able to turn THAT MUCH as opposed to having the trucks fairly tight. Thanx. I bombed this hill here in NYC on Amsterdam, the ones who live here or have seen this hill know what I'm talking about. No helmet, or gear and cluttered traffic... That hill is EXTREMELY Steep I was going at least 40-50mph tears came out my eyes from the wind gust, CRAZY jelly legged speed wobbles, I bombed that with pretty much the board that described above (Arbor bug premium 2016) When I was at the bottom of the hill I honestly said to myself how on hell nothing bad happened to me. Next time I go for that hill *I will wear GEAR*, that's for sure... A hill around my way makes me go about 28-30 no where near what I experienced in Amsterdam in NYC.

    This makes a lot of sense! I was bombing a small hill, not too big nor too small and I was putting the weight towards my front so that I don’t have the speed wobbles... I then remembered (after watching this video) that I kinda did tighten my trucks a bit tight so I’ll probably have to adjust that right now

    • @Dr_Footbrake
      @Dr_Footbrake 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas Anreise Don’t be afraid to mix and match as well. Not that I’m good by any stretch of the imagination but I found having a harder (91A) bushing board side and a softer (81A) one road side meant I could avoid speed wobbles but still carve/turn almost as well as running just the 81s

    I feel like you gotta mention some people have preferences that stray outside this guide. Personally I like a tighter/slightly-dead feel, so I either tighten the stock bushings until they bulge or go for bushings above my weight class. Thats just what works for me and some people may ride better on the looser end of the spectrum.
    But no doubt, this is a good guide for people who are unsure of what they're doing.

    Awesome video crunchie. I did a downhill run with my friend the other day and he asked me how tight my trucks were. I glanced at his and saw that he had clearly over tightened his trucks. I said I run my trucks as loose and possible. He couldn't believe me. He was astonished and speechless. 😂. Again awesome video keep up the good work 😁

Also I have a question if you don't mind: I ride gullwing reverse trucks (48 degree base plate, 89a rad bushings), and they have a reversible hanger. Now flipping it lowers the ride height by 1/4 of an inch, but If I flip them I need include risers. Would you recommend I run them unflipped, with no risers, or flipped with a 1/4 inch spacer

      Crunchie you are in Australia? That's so cool, so exotic. I'm from NYC (not the rich part) born and raised here. How come I can understand your accent? Sometimes aussies accents are hard to understand, at least for me it is. I have París Reverse Kingpin trucks 150 MM on my Arbor board. I'd like Bigger ones to go downhill. I went down the big infamous hill here in Amsterdam in NYC yesterday... I got a crazy speed wobble but I some how manage to the bottom of the hill without wasting.

      logan taylor once upon a time a I watched this movie called *Once Were Warriors* made in New Zealand the movie came out in 94, but I watched it a few yrs after that, in 94 I was 10 so I think I was old enough, enough to watch it... I always thought it was Australian, until I did some research and found out later on that the movie was made in New Zealand. It was about a disfunctional *Mauri* family that was addicted to alcohol and partying... Awesome movie I tell ya

    On my conventional trucks I can't see if the bushing is bulging out, how many full turns past the point of resistance can a 90a conical bushing withstand without the pressure damaging it? It would be enough if you just gave me a recommendation when you think the bushing will get damaged.

    Hi Crunchie,
    you are one of my most favorite YT channels out there and I love skating and downhill longboarding. I learned a few slides on a straight road with pushing as fast as I can. But I can't progress any further because I can`t find good hills around with low traffic for beginners... what can I do?

      Travel! Sometimes in order to find the good hills, one must travel far and wide...

    Get the right bushings for your weight and keep em loose so you can have more precise response

    I've been skating for years on trucks looser than anyone of my friends can bare because it's perfect for downhill racing and bombing. I never knew what passion I had for skating until I stood on a longboard and felt how far my momentum could take me. Now it's my main source of transportation, and I'd rather skate than drive! I discovered your videos back then and they truly inspired me to want to travel around the globe with my Madrid Dreambird, absorbing the beautiful scenery every step of the way. Thank you so much for your uploads, Crunchie. without you and the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, I wouldn't have found my calling in life 🤓🍞
