    This was such a great tutorial on choosing trucks and bushings especially for a noob like me, thank you!
    So, I just started longboarding about 3 months ago. I'm pretty much a mellow rider looking to cruise, mellow freeride and low style carving. I'm set up on an 2015 Arbor Rally board. I have the stock setup for the trucks which is Caliber 50 9.0" trucks and bushings are ultra-high rebound 89a Blood Orange barrel & cone combo.
    I have swapped out the wheels to the Sucrose Initiative Bogarts (61mm / CP 36mm / OS 2.5mm / 82a) which for me are so much better than the Sucrose Mosh wheels and I've also swapped the bearings to Bones Redz. (Stock bearings were Abec 5's). I've really been able to pick up speed and get some decent carving and freeriding, but I feel really limited on maneuverability still. (here's a link to the board with the description of the stock setup: arborcollective.com/skateboards/products/rally/)
    I am a pretty small chick (5 ft tall and weigh about 115) so I'm wondering if a different truck or bushing setup might help me get some better response on the board? In reality, it could just totally be me and my technique. After watching the video though, I thought about flipping the hanger around and just sort of seeing how that responds with my stature and such. But do you have any other suggestions?
    Thanks!

    • @daisycup2002
      @daisycup2002 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laura Sheldon I just took the board out on an initial test with the trucks reversed. MAJOR difference in responsiveness!

    • @daisycup2002
      @daisycup2002 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Thank you so much for the tips! The 10-bag option definitely sounds like a great way to test out different options to find the one that works. And you might definitely be right about the hanger. In fact, shortly after I bought the board I took it to a skate shop because the trucks were squeaking and I had no idea if that was normal. The guy took the em off and sprayed WD-40 on it and I have't since touched it. Perhaps this whole time I just needed to loosen them a bit! Thanks for the tips!

    • @daisycup2002
      @daisycup2002 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Ross, I wanted to let you know I picked up some 83a Orangatang Nipples Bushings. Wow, you're so right...the difference is incredible. I just got them on and took them out for a quick run so I'll be playing around some more and I'm definitely going after that Venom 10-bag to play with the setup some more. Thanks again for your help!

    Great video! Your explanations are quite useful and complete. I'm setting up my first surfskate, trying to make the best cost x benefit possible. I'm working on a longboard 'carvy and grippy' enough to bring that surf feeling into the streets.
    Anyway, Im not a longboard expert but my research and your videos are directing me to this possible Set up:
    Deck: Similar to the Sector 9 Striker, 32 to 38 inches
    Trucks: Similar to the Gulling Side winder or Carver C7 or CX.
    Bushings: softs like cone style
    Wheels: 70 to 75 mm tall, 70 to 80A soft, 50 to 70mm contact, centerset maybe offset with shine skin and sharp lip
    Am i forgetting anything? can you suggest any decent fair price set up or brand?!
    Thank you and good job to you all!!

    Wow, very comprehensive - thanks Ross! Question. I've been building out my quiver and have been looking for an "all around skate everything" type of board. Certainly been doing a lot of research and I know what I'm looking for. I really like the arbor 44 genesis, but am leaning more towards this loaded overland board I cam across. I basically cruise and freeride most combined with a little downhill at lower speeds. I just moved to an area with much more hills and incline terrain. I definitely want a board with a double kick tail, but also want stability if I choose to hit more downhill at faster speeds (around 30mph). Can you suggest a truck/wheel combo that you think would fit this style of riding? Really appreciate it man! Cheers,

    I've only had original trucks, so I have no idea what kind of bushings I should have for my new Gullwing sidewinder 2's. I weigh 92kg / 202 lbs.
    I don't do sliding or downhill, I only use it as a form of transportation.
    I live in the city so I need to be able to make really tight turns to dodge people while I cruise down the street but I want it to be steady as well for somewhat higher speed.
