    Excellent, "right to the point", professional presentation. You did a great job here, and this video is "really" helping me talk myself down from an 800 to 1000 dollar machine that I don't really need or can I "really" afford. This unit makes a lot of sense for a guy like me who's just interested, at this point at least, in doing my own car. Even if I end upo buying the "bigger, better" foam canon, I'm still saving a bundle. Man, you sure know a lot about this stuff. That's great for us, who don't know a lot about this stuff, and don't want to spend all day looking it all up. Thanks for your presentation here, and hope to see more of your videos in the future. • @drmeklv

    Keev great presentation. I absolutely agree with your setup. The only thing I would change is changing the high pressure hose to a 50 foot Uberflex hose and changing the M22/15 with an adapter to M22/14. Also I would change the hose on the inlet side to a 25 foot Flexzilla. I agree that the foam cannon supplied is pretty much garbage and the MTM pf22.2 with the MTM SG28 gun is the way to go. And yes keep the nozzle at the foam cannon at 1.25 or you will destroy your pump with the 1.1. Looking forward to your new cart setup. Please hurry up with that. LOL

      I did change to my 6 foot 1 inch inlet hose in the last week. Was wondering why change to a m22/14mm on the hose? It will just blow out water. I initially tried the 14 and had to buy a 15 in order to fit.

    After spending hours on TH-cam and Amazon reading and watching reviews I bought the CAT pressure washer and it’s made by Evo. Has The same 5 piston pump and all except for a couple of cosmetic features and 4 nozzles instead of 3. I couldn’t find another electric pressure washer that could put out 2 gpm/1800 psi for under $300. I just wish the hose was longer. I bought a better foam cannon for it. I’m thinking about upgrading the gun for a short one.

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav  ปีที่แล้ว

      Link for the hose should be in description. The VE52 is a 15mm size M22 connection so it won’t work with the ones you find at Home Depot. If you are getting a newer model they come with an adapter to change from 15mm to 14mm. If one is not there you would need to purchase a 15mm from Amazon. • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am unsure of what fittings the Karcher uses to know if you can transfer them over or not. Since you already have the upgraded gun and hose you should only worry about the one m22 15mm coming off the outlet of the unit. The 14mm is only after the trigger part of the stock gun for the foam cannon and wand extension. I had a Ryobi beforehand and it used 14mm and I learned quickly that those fittings will screw on, but boy do they blow water everywhere when you put some pressure through it. lol

    so the 1.1mm orifice would put too much strain? I have a 1.2GPM electric pressure washer. My foam cannon has the 1.1mm orifice and I get pretty thick foam. Will this achieve that super thick shaving creme comparable foam? I am eyeing this unit but my current setup has pretty thick foam but not that super caked on feel. Good review by the way!

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can still run a 1.1 and get even crazier thick shaving creme foam. If you get the foam to thick it cant run off any of the dirt before you rinse, but it is really fun or great for using with a mitt. You will draw more electricity as the backpressure stresses the pump. I'm only looking out for the longevity of the machine as I would be using it 2 or 3 times a week. Going to the 1.25 the foam was just as thick coverage wise, but it ran off faster which is good for getting the dirt off the surface. The foam itself is still very thick. I am also not using any super concentrated soap designed to make crazy foam. Gtechniq products are all about being effective for the task and not so much about foam thickness or how great it smells. Which I have to admit is the reason most people foam and it is fun and they smell so good.

Whenever I release the trigger, the unit cycles or surges about 6 to 8 times before the total stop system actually works. I am not experiencing any leaks or decrease in water pressure. Any idea what could be causing the cycling or surging issue? I am using the 50ft UberFlex hose and have upgraded to quick connects.

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How does it work with using just the stock hose and gun? I have heard another person is having this issue as well and was going to contact Active. Also, are you using an extension cord or plugging directly into the wall? Just trying to sort out what it could be because I have had a pressure washer do this before and the gun was causing the issue, not really leaking just losing pressure causing the unit to constantly trigger the pressure switch. Wouldn't think it would be water pressure coming to the unit as that would impact how it sprays once the trigger pulled as well.

    • @bromovich8058
      @bromovich8058 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarsWithKeav thanks for the prompt response. The truth is I haven't not tried the original gun and hose. I bought all the aftermarket accessories as your video suggested. I am plugging directly into a wall outlet...no extension cord. I guess the next best step is to try the original gun and hose. Also, I have heard where another person experienced something similar and proceeded to add a M22 quick connect coupler to the pressure washer house outlet to connect my universal hose AND changed the O-ring on the coupler to a larger size to properly fit the washer. You'll need a 9x3 mm O-ring to establish a water tight connection.

      Is it still surging or is that pressure worrying you? What is the flow rate and PSI of your water going into the machine? I would say the stock nozzle could vary 100 to 150 PSI based on water flow, electrical circuit, etc. My numbers are under some of the others tested with the same tips.

    Nice. What's the advantage with a 3/8 hose vice 1/4?

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main reason I use them is that they are heavier and more durable. You would think that's bad, but that's what keeps them from being impacted by the pressure in the hose and trying to kink up. At this GPM level you wont see a small performance difference, but if you share the same hose with a Gas Pressure washer like I do to clean the driveway etc. it makes a bigger difference in GPM.

      Myself and many others have tested the 4.0 and got the same GPM as him, but nowhere near 1000 PSI. Just at or below 800 is what most of us got. In order to get 1000 you had to go with a 3.0. I decided on the 3.5 as I got 900 PSI and 1.8 GPM so that was the best mix I could get. Just like he said in his video each one can be slightly different numbers from the factory. I have all the sizes so on final rinse I could go 4.0 and on the first rinse run a 3.0. Mix it up a little.

      It did end up having issues on month 11, but was after roughly 105 hours of operation which is past the normal lifespan. I just bought another one for my new garage wash bay project and will be getting the new 2.0 as well when it comes out. They have made improvements over time to the unit as they learned some flaws. They never designed for the unit to have a bigger diameter 50 foot hose so it struggles at times to maintain the right pressure for the total start stop system so it surges. Not saying it's perfect, but its a heck of a machine and like I already have would purchase another.

      The ideal pressure for Car washing is 1k psi. Flow is more important than pressure for rinsing. Anything more can damage, paint, trim, etc. When manufacturers say 1800 that's the max capability of that machine, but the average running PSI advertised for the VE52 is 1k. You would be surprised how far off most machines are and no way to know until you test pressure using a gauge. Located about an hour north of Atlanta in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains.

    I purchased this machine recently after seeing your review. I rinsed the car, then foamed it and let it sit for a few minutes. I didn’t agitate with wash mitt as car was already clean and was only testing the unit itself. I proceeded to rinse the car and the pressure washer turned off. GFCI on the power cord or the machine wasn’t tripped and neither was my breaker in the electrical panel. I tested the outlet with another appliance and it had power. I disconnected and reconnected the pressure washer and still didn’t work. I also attempted pressing the reset button on the GFCI switch and still nothing. I tried about 20 minutes later and it started working again. Seems like the unit possible overheated and shut itself off. What’s your take, did I receive a defective unit? PS, Thanks for the detailed video!

    • @CarsWithKeav

      I think it was some type of self protection sensor like you said for overheating. I have not heard of this problem for anyone so it could be defective. One question what orifice does your foam cannon have? 1.1 or 1.25? The 1.1 could be stress due to the water flow. If it happens again I would for sure hit them up they have a good warranty from what I here. Only issue I have is I have to hit the reset button on the GFCI every single time I use it.

I mixed up my 40 degree nozzles from a Greenworks 1700psi machine and was running a 40 degree nozzle with 2.0 orifice opposed to the provided 3.7. 🤦‍♂️ As you suggested, I’m sure a safety sensor tripped and I was on time out (to give me time to kick myself lol) I left the machine alone for like 15 minutes and tried it again and simulated running it as I had just done moments before and all is working as it should using the included 40 degree nozzle tip. I read somewhere that you’ve used the 40 degree 3.5 orifice nozzle tip. Do you notice the difference to the 3.7? @@blkonblk17 when you get a chance I would switch the orifice to 1.25. That 1.1 puts load on the unit just like the 2.0 issue you had. Anything 1.7 GPM and up should run it and you don’t lose any foam. 3.5 helps get a little more PSI and very little GPM loss. There is always a balance to get the best results. Most of it is feel. Would there be a significant difference in terms of performance between the 3.5 Nozzles and 4.0 Nozzles with PF 22? Would one be preferable for the longevity of the pressure washer?

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The nozzle wouldn't work with the PF22 as it has its own orifice within the foam gun. 1.1 and 1.25 would be the two options. 1.2 would be better for longevity from a foam cannon perspective. 4.0 would be better for the pump, but its a lower PSI for cleaning power. There is a delicate balance between PSI and GPM. 3.5 is the sweet spot form what I have found. Unit comes with a 3.75, but its just not enough PSI for me.

Sorry for that confusion. So between 4.0 and 3.5 nozzle, both are close enough that they will work well enough with the pressure washer and not necessarily cause any issues to the machine? What you’re saying is it’s more of a personal preference thing between 3.5 and 4.0 because they are close enough?

    • @CarsWithKeav
      @CarsWithKeav  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre Anything 3.0 and higher to me is safe for the pressure washer. The foam cannon orifice sizes actually create the most stress as its such a small opening and very little water gets out with that pump still running. The Amperage can go up a good bit when foaming. It is all personal preference and for me I have 4 different sizes that I mix up depending on what I need. If I have a lot of dirt build up for the initial rinse I will use a 3.0 to get more PSI and for the final rinse I may run a 4.0 to get lots of water flow to flush out all the suds that like to hide in the crevices. I'm hoping at some point to find if there is a 3.25 to try out.

      This unit out of the box can't hit 1800 PSI and was running 900 constant PSI with my testing on all the original stock parts. They always advertise Max PSI which is what it is capable of doing. Smoke and mirrors from the marketing gurus. You can make it have higher PSI or lower by changing the nozzle tip size. Unit comes with 3.7mm nozzles and I am running 3.5mm. I would think to get 1800 you would run probably a 2.0mm, but then you put a lot of stress on the pump. I have heard of some self inflicted issues which is using the wrong orifice size nozzles that are too small causing the pump to overheat and shutoff or using the 1.1mm orifice in the foam cannon to cause this same issue. Too small of an orifice can also cause breakers to pop as you draw more than 15 amps. I use mine multiple times a week since I got it and have had no issues. 1.2 GPM vs 2.0 GPM is a huge difference, but if you don't care about that then Greenworks is just fine. More GPM makes it much quicker to rinse off the car. I was using a similar Ryobi that was about the same price for years, but after using this just a few days I will never go back. Its quieter, its instant start/stop is so much better, etc.

      He says that’s what he was getting. I’ve tried two different gauges and both are 800 PSI for a 4.0, but it was about the same GPM he was stating. I have no clue why as the hose length from the house was 6 feet using a 1inch hose and my water pressure is pretty good. Funny i just watched a video Active put out and he talks about how manufacturers use max psi for marketing ... as he’s doing the same. He’s does admit it in the video but also states the 1800 psi is a legit number along with the great GPM number. Any manufacturer can use a 2.0 Orifice and the pump will scream and eventually blow up at 2000 psi 😆
      One thing i found out. My local coin op runs at a higher PSI, prob a 25° fan. Its great for the initial rinse to break away lose dirt. but for whatever reason when flushing always soap or cleaning the wheels its too much psi. Its like trying to rinse away soap with the red tip... just doesn’t work even though the stream is more powerful.

      Never had a problem with any of my BMW's. Going to be honest Scotty Kilmer is not someone I like to watch. He blanket statements an entire model or brand of cars based on what he see's as a mechanic. He only experiences anything that has a problem and not the millions of cars out there with no problems. I do proper research and have had no issues with the 3 BMW's I own. I wouldn't buy one more than 5 years old and would want all service paperwork to know how well it was taken care of. You also have to know what you are getting into. Preventive Maintenance costs are high on these cars, but the driving experience to me is worth it.
