I just posted my newest SUPER CLEAN video on how to Super Clean your Wheels and remove 2yrs of brake dust, tar, and stains: th-cam.com/video/5zZyiY23OpY/w-d-xo.html
Chris figured life out and made his passion a win-win-win-win-win-win. He bought the car for cheap. He cleaned the car inexpensively. He may sell the car for a profit. He taught us how to super clean our car. He made money from this video and this knowledge will stay with us forever. He does this for a living. We love you Chris!
I’m a detailer; this is what I do for a living. But I still find myself watching these videos, mainly because I love the positive attitude and good vibes you have in your videos. Not to mention, your processes oriented towards regular people who are just looking to clean their car up quickly themselves is also super helpful for when I have customers consult me about DIY cleaning small things at a time, I always find myself recommending things/products/methods I learn from your videos, or I just direct them towards your channel. You do good work and manage to make it useful and a learning experience for even professionals; I feel like you don’t get enough appreciation for managing to successfully do that.
This guy is easily THE best car guy out there. Entertaining, energetic voice that keeps you paying attention and very knowledgeable. Also seems like a well mannered man. Thanks, ChrisFix!
After watching your videos for YEARSSS, I now finally own my first car, a Ford Focus 1999 2.0l , now I can finally put all the knowledge I’ve learned over the years from you to use ❤
I am a detailer and we do exactly what you do for our interior detail services. A pro tip you didn’t mention is using a pumice stone to remove pet hairs! Just gently rub it on the carpet and it’ll pull the hair out super easily
@@gailmorra just brush it dry and what I like to do is keep a vacuum by my side to suck up the hair as I go. Be careful not to scratch any plastics or metals!
I have been detailing my car the past week. What an under credited job. I’ve spent 20 hours on my car now and it looked clean to begin with, but wow there’s much stuff hiding. I got a steam cleaner, power drill and brush, water extractor. You’re videos helping me every step of the way!!
I've owned a carpet and upholstery cleaning and restoration company for 34 years. Couple tips for you to utilize with your extractor: Use tide powder, mixed at two tbs per gallon of warm water and utilize this as your prespray in a spray bottle, like you did the foamy cleaner. Its tons cheaper and works on all fibers better than most proprietary chemicals. Add 2 tbs of white vinegar to a clean water tank the size you're using if you have any browning or yellowing you're trying to remove, or just in general. This will reduce the ph of the clean water side and very much help remove presprays and soiling. Finally, suck into the dirty water side a small cap of liquid fabric softener and that will kill foam as it enters the machine. Fabric softener mixed with water, at 4-1 softener to water, misted onto carpeting will absolutely kill any static shock issues too.
What about the protectant he sprayed to waterproof it- will spraying the protectant disturb the static reducing effect from the fabric softener or will the fabric softener make the protectant useless?
Thank Man you’re a pro! The tide thing actually makes sense because they’re motivated to sell a household product that removes stains at a low price due to economies of scale. Every house buys detergent on a weekly basis but not every house buys car upholstery cleaner except for once every 2 years. That’s why Car cleaning products are overpriced because they’re marketed to a smaller market segment. Great tips. By the way, how would you compare using hydrogen peroxide to vinegar in removing stains from your experience?
Hi Chriss. Me and my 13 year old boy are learning how to detail a car with your videos. We use this as time ti spend with each other as well. First we watch a video. Then we go to the store. Watching a ChrisFix video isn't just a tutorial on a subject. It's an unparalleled class on how to clearly communicate. And a big part of that is not cutting corners and keeping your personal standards high for how you communicate. Chris may not put out a ton of videos per year, and I'm sure he has huge, growing backlog of ideas, but when he does, it's no less than the definitive guide on the topic. All that extra time he spends making his videos as close to perfect as possible collectively saves orders of magnitude more hours for the people watching them. I can't say enough good things about Chris.
I've been meaning to clean out my car for a few weeks now and this is just perfect. Beyond the great practical and motivational info, I am so pleased by your down-to-earth, earnest, positivity.
As a guy whos cleaned Carpets, Tile, Upholstery, for 20 years(6 years with my own business), I approve of this video :). loved how he scrubbed it, I might buy the drill tool, so sweet.
The drill brush is an invaluable tool in agitating and working the cleaning solution into the carpet and breaking up the stains. In tandem with the drill brush, the extractor (mine is a Bissell Spot Clean) does as good a job as any professional carpet cleaner.
As a former detailer I always suggest starting up top first and working your way down because dirt and debris will end up on your clean carpet if you clean it first.
17:40 The effort this guy puts into a 60-second clip. Now he has to dry those carpets all over again. Thank you, ChrisFix, thank you for doing it so I don't have to do it myself.
This is really good knowledge. I especially like that you show the “poor man’s tools” and the “professional’s” tools. Really shows whether or not you’d actually want to spend the extra money for better tools or diy your way into virtually the same results.
It´s just the tradeoff between time and money. For the most part with professional tools you are just faster. End result will be the same in almost all cases.
Just got my first car! A 20 year old subaru that is covered in dog hair and smells like a dog lived in it for 5 years. Ive been very excited to clean it out because I love a good deep clean. Thanks for the video!
Autoshine Cars YT channel has also cars with horribly dirty interiors :D But this kind of videos are good fun to watch, from absolutely disgusting interior to brand new like condition :)
I just bought a new car and I'm determined this time to maintain my cars cleanliness. This video is giving me hope that even if I fail, I can easily get my car back on track with many of your tips and tricks without feeling overwhelmed.
I LOVE how much enjoyment you get from a truly clean car. I just sold one after 10 years of use including carting my dog around and was told by several sensitive people that there was mold in my car. I wiped down the outside a bit and half-way vacuumed the inside. When the dealership praised me on how "clean" the car was, I knew I couldn't trust them at all.
I usually start at the highest point and work my way down. Headliner, dashboard, consoles, and then carpets last. That way if something falls on the floor when working on the headliner, you arent messing up your nice clean carpets.
This is exactly what I'm doing right now. I wanted to study after school, but while I drove home I thought "woah, my car is so dirty, I'll clean it first". Then I thought when I arrived at home "first I will look up tips for cleaning cars" and here I am.
My kid and I have binged many of your clips just to hear you say “water”. We get a kick out of how you pronounce it. You have some of the best content in the automotive TH-cam space. You single handily gave me the confidence to replace my drum brakes on my 93 Nissan hardbody. Thanks for the content!
Another comment Chris - Most people on TH-cam have nice shops, unlimited tools and equipment - you do all your work in your driveway outside your house! Amazing! Love your videos. Great work.
Getting my first car. Remember watching you YEARS ago when you had just started your drifting journey. I appreciate you Chris. It's always awesome to come to your videos and watch them. You're so unique, I love it.
Such a detailed orientated person! Love your passion for doing tasks correctly. These car owners were lucky to have you put such attention into their vehicles. Great tips that I’ll be utilizing…thank you, Chris!
yea someone like him if not him (i forgot) restored a porchse 944 or something along those lines and it looked almost new! after but before it looked like it was from a toxic waste land
i'm not the guy to respond a lot in videos (perhaps 2 times already in my entire life) but a just had to react because you my man sound so enthousiastic and full of joy that i watched the whole video and was amazed by the process, results and the amount of detail, tips and tricks you tell. i'm the type of guy that if someone's says warm water, that thinks how warm. the fact that you checked the temperature is literally up and beyond the effort that i never have anyone seen before. i'm so excited to try it out on my car and already ordered the steamer because it is indeed a helpful tool and not to expensive. now i'll check out the video about the engine bay because i'm afraid of that area to mess up electronics. tyvm and keep up the good work.
This was a video like 5 years overdue I was stunned when I came across this channel and there wasn't a video for it considering his cleaning videos really built his viewership.
I love how this video is over 2 years old and I keep coming back to all the super clean videos because I just love watching the results. Especially the exterior super clean idc that it’s 6 years old. 😂
Dude you are a legend. I used to watch your videos when I was a green mechanic. Now I own my own auto-repair buissness and I'm branching into renting out and fliping cars. Naturally I'd like to learn to detail and here you are to show me the ropes again.
This video helped save the interior of a 1992 and 1990 geo metro! The 1992 was saved from a scrap yard and now its a happy, almost new throwback 1990s, thank you!
This is by far the BEST car cleaning video I have EVER seen. WOW! So many of the other car detailers push their own expensive products. I love this guy,
Chris, thank you so much for teaching how to clean the interior of a car. Especially the hint with the brush while vacuuming is gold. Even though I’m not as perfectionist as you are, with your tips and tricks I’m so much faster and way more efficient. Thanks a lot
Never thought of using a brush, I used various vacuum attachments, now to try something new. The internet can be useful, youtube is similar to public TV can actually learn
Little late to this but if your on a budget like me, heres a tip for the carpet extractor. Most shop-vacs have a wet setting so use that and tape a chemical sprayer on the end to make a budget carpet extractor. It works surprisingly well.
I'm too lazy to do any of this myself, but your videos are oddly satisfying to watch. Especially cause I imagine you're actually cleaning my car...and then I wake up to the sad truth of my dirty old car. Great editing skills 👌
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you find the videos satisfying and you like the editing! And I would try focusing on one little spot on the car to clean/maintain, eventually you'll be working on the whole car :p
I super cleaned the interior of my suv last weekend. All 3 videos it took 2 days but it was raining on and off all Saturday. Taking the seats out was hard because they had a lot of electronics: heated, ventilated, power everything etc. it was so rewarding when finished though. If I ever have to do it again it won’t take nearly as long.
These interior cleaning vids are fantastic, picked up a lot of good tricks and my Sonata looks fkn great now. Just an FYI: this takes a SIGNIFICANT amount of time if you do it right. It took me around 3 hours each vid (carpets, interior, leather seats). Just be forewarned this ain't no 30 min job. This is the type of detail you should do twice a year (fall/spring). Any more than that is overkill.
I have completely neglected my own health, starting with mentally and moving into everything else, and now, my car. I used to be spotless and tidy. This’ll give me hope to get back on track.
While being very instructional I am also impressed with the production value in your video. The before and afters, product recommendations and demonstrations, the tool how-to’s, and the general flow of the presentation. Well done sir!
@@chrisfix it is. It really helps viewers understand product features quickly and easily thus freeing them to take action and have a satisfying experience when cleaning their vehicle. But you knew all that ;)
This is awesome, I was about to pay someone $200 to detail my car but I bought the same vacuum you use for less than that. I plan on doing it myself from now on. You’re awesome thank you for everything you do
You people need to be smarter about this type of issue. At our house it is simple having 5 cars and 1 truck. When anyone enters the house they hang their keys on their hook. So then.... If anyone has to leave you just grab the keys to the auto that is last parked. The only thing we had to do is everyone had to get their handgun permit. Since a few of us carry firearms in our autos.
Chris! Would you ever consider making a video of sound proofing a car? How to install what sort of sound proofing material is best for what case and so worth? It would be cool to see a 100% coverage (Floor, doors. wheel archs, boot, headliner etc.) Please! like this so Chris will for sure see this ! Cheers !
When you work as a detailer and want a promotion so you learn something new. A few tips to help anyone else out. 1. If you have access to a air hose use it before you start vacuuming to get loose dust and debris out of the interior vinyls and leather. 2. Clean the panels and leather before you vacuum so it goes faster. It sucks if you vacuum first and get dirt back into the clean carpet. Work in a Top to bottom manner. I usually vacuum last and start top. So headliner, air hose panels & leather then clean them, then seats (since they’ll still be in the car) then take them out to focus on the carpet. Also vinegar works great on removing hard water spots on the windows.
Me: watching this video for half-hour. My Car: Sits in the driveway, filthy. Me: Let me watch about 10 more car cleaning videos instead of cleaning my car.
What's really awesome is seeing his enthusiasm change over the years. Watch some of his original videos, it's astounding. He's REALLY come into his own and ratcheted up the hype 🥰
You make car cleaning look easy and effective. Taking out the seats is the best idea. I wonder only one thing: why wouldn’t you start at the top of the car . . . the headliner, then the windows and interior trim, etc.? In that way, you won’t take the chance of soiling the floor. Starting the cleaning at the top of rooms is the strategy for thoroughly cleaning a house: first, the ceiling , the walls, furniture tops, and sides. Then the carpets or other flooring.
I'm a bit late, but that would be the most efficient way of doing it. Chris is just really good at not soiling the bottom because of how precise he is. I would start with the top though because I would likely bring in dirt and debris every time I switch positions
I think top to bottom IS the correct way to do it. The only thing I could of was the additional drying time for the carpets if you were in a time crunch to get the car back to the owner.
Dude I’ve been watching a lot of car detailing videos recently and you have been by far the most impressive!! Your results are something to strive for!! Top notch man, well done 👍.
@@envidygaming3990 it was pretty dirty but for regular car use it was fairly clean. if she vacuumed more often it wouldnt have looked so dirty. im turning into a bit of a clean freak so i probably would vacuum once a week but i dont own a car yet so i cant say for sure
"I don't think anybody is that dirty." Well Chris, you haven't met the right people then. I've seen, worked on, and been in cars that we actually had to refuse service.
Amazing video! I am 18 and really want to start a car detailing business but everyone around me says it’s a waste of time. Your videos are very thorough and I just love them. Thanks for the hard work and teaching me 1 step at a time!
Glad I'm not the only one thinking of that. I swear I got so many Detail Geek vibes from this video, between the extractor, the dirty water afterwards, the drill brush, pressure washing floor mats, etc.
9:01 Chris, I don't recommend regular water in steam cleaners. Minerals deposit on the valves and lines causing havoc in your expensive steamer. Use distilled water only as most manufacturers recommend. Otherwise, great video!
Can confim. Around 2 years ago we went abroad and rented a car. The day we had to give it back we misread the hour of return, when we realised it was already too late to clean half of the mess. Even tho we had rubbish bags on us and would clean it out every day. Crumbs from entertaining kids on the back with snacks, dirt and mud from going to different places. We lived in that car mostly. Only left it to go to the hotel to sleep. I felt so bad for the guys who had to clean it. We never do this. I have also been told “oh it’s their job it’s fine” No, not really. lol your not dying if you stop prior in a gas station and Hoover most of that dirt out.
@@AdriCr4ft I was the ASM and interim-BM for an ERAC over about 4 years. This usually was how most people acted and they almost always apologized for returning it dirty. Some of those vehicles though, holy shit. It was almost always the weekend warriors and the insurance rentals that brought them back trashed or smelling heavily of smoke....from multiple sources...It was a lot of weed usually.
@@immaballoon damn, I didn’t know it was that bad all the time! interesting as heck tho. We had it for 2 weeks tho it wasn’t a weekend! I can’t imagine having the car in that condition with only a weekend lol I’m sure you also found lots of stuff lol like coins

I’m part way through doing mine, I watched this video a while back for help. I’m using a set of drill brushes, some super clean, and my mother’s wet carpet cleaner vacuum. It’s important to get your carpets as clean as you can before you use the extractor because you don’t wanna gunk anything up and you also want it to do the best job it can. My plan is to get the interior clean, air it out, then put an ozone generator in it in order to try to get the smell out of it. Fortunately I seem to have already taken care of the ant infestation by vacuuming under the seats last weekend.
I want to buy a used car but they can be really dirty, especially if they’re older like the ones I’m looking at. I’m really happy that you made this video Chris fix!! Also this video is great so I can learn how to detail my current car before I sell it so it’s clean for the next owner.

They're often just concerned on making stuff look good at first glance so I'm not too surprised
I usually start at the highest point and work my way down. Headliner, dashboard, consoles, and then carpets last. That way if something falls on the floor when working on the headliner, you arent messing up your nice clean carpets.

Little late to this but if your on a budget like me, heres a tip for the carpet extractor. Most shop-vacs have a wet setting so use that and tape a chemical sprayer on the end to make a budget carpet extractor. It works surprisingly well.

It would be cool to see a 100% coverage (Floor, doors. wheel archs, boot, headliner etc.)
Please! like this so Chris will for sure see this !

Sound proofing you have to strip the interior. Everything. Then tape in the barrier and rebuild

What i like about you Chris is that you dont cut corners and you do everything the right way. Thats why your successful with your jobs. Kudos bro
