I recall an incident when I was visiting folks in Yosemite California and going out well after dark one hot summer night with my kid brother and our dogs. We were almost to the main road and although my bro said nevermind it's ok, I decided to run back for my "torch" which I had forgot to bring. Pitch dark no streetlights so I'm swinging that torch across the road as we walked and all a sudden my bro jumped straight up like he was on a pogo stick and jerked his hound off to the side ...he saw that rattler in time just before he would have stepped smackdab in the middle of it!! I handed him the torch to keep it in view while I ran over to a neighbor who was handy with a shotgun....BOOOM! Took it's head clean off ...that sucker was over 3' long!! Well that was one time my bro was glad he took my advice LOL!
Norm you are to have vision at night. Even with a powerful flashlight I can only see what is in the light beam. I do not ever drive at night and walking is dangerous also. I never walk at night. When we go out after dark, Mike drives. I am night blind to the 3rd degree. IF I had to take an eye test for nights I would be restricted to day driving only. I loved to walk by moonlight. Even on full moon nights I can see only about a foot in front of me and then it is vague shapes. Be thankful for the little things. But I know why you are out after dark. The sun goes down early now and if you go out after 5pm it is dark. It got up to 96 here today. Sunday is supposed to be 99. Yes. But by Tuesday, forget fall. The high will be 78 and the low 41. We just skip fall altogether and right into winter (for us). after 4 months of 100+ 78 feels like an ice cold shower. I have a leather coat I wear when it gets down to 40. After 30 years in the desert your blood thins. You feel cold when it is below 80. Well I do. Anemic and lots of pain makes for a woman who wears sweaters in stores because they keep them SO COLD.
