My Focus RS is Getting 500hp at Mountune! | PROJECT PART 7

- It's finally time to take my Red Edition Ford Focus RS to Mountune to crack on with injecting some more power! Safe to say the Mountune team know a thing or two about the mk3 RS with their work to date and in the case of this car we're going full on with a target of 500hp!
Taking the Focus RS to the Mountune workshop to get things started, I can't go into too much detail about the work being done at this stage,due to the nature of it literally being in development. However, we can take a look around their own development car to get a feel for the sound and what it's going to be like when all is completed.
The engine will be removed from the car and rebuilt from the ground up for additional strength, including: new pistons, con rods, driveshafts, cooling system, head gasket and much more. Then naturally it will be required to fit parts like the intake, intercooler, inlet manifold, but as has been explored to date with the Focus RS and the 2.3l turbo ecoBoost - that will get you to around 400hp or so and if you want more - that means new... turbo! The first stage of the build should take it from the stock 350hp to high 400s, but wait and see what where the torque goes from the standard 470nm, it will be a big increase.
I shall return in the future for an update on progress and to maybe even check out Mountune's development car to get a feel for where mine is going, if you'd like to see it. The build will take a month or two, but this car is going to be one incredibly exciting monster when it's complete!

We're actually doing this! The magicians at Mountune are about to ramp my project red Focus RS up to around 500hp... Can you imagine what this is going to be like?! The conversion will take a month or two, so stayed tuned for updates along the way.
Awaits the inevitable 'FIRST' from Sweden coming soon.....

I quite agree, but I really like the look of the carbon fiber. My solution would be to paint the bonnet from the A-Pillar forward, but just the bit between the crease of the bonnet & the front wing. That would result in a much more integrated look, I believe.

I love the fact that you don't only focus on the toys that we dream of. That car has not to say endless possibilities but it does for us Joe schmoes that haven't hit the spot in life we need to be to have a garage full of pretty ones.
The bonnet doesn't work, and I'm not too fussed on the wheels either.
So this should mean that your hatchback will be more powerful than your Vantage GT8.

If you can paint the bonnet red and only leaving the opening area on the bonnet in carbon fiber, it will look much more better.

The black bonnet looks horrible and the wheels don't go with anything else on the car - painting them black may help. The only RS in the garage that didn't look tacky was the blue RS. It will be interesting to see what differences the engine modifications make.
My stealth grey RS is pretty nice I got the tail lights and headlights tinted fog lights and reflectors it looks pretty guud

Incredible Tim - fantastic to see you modifying the RS - can’t wait to see this monster unleashed - I modified and built my own Saab 9-5 up to 461bhp and it’s the best laugh ever - 19 years old, big old barge, ultimate sleeper and nobody has a clue what it’s capable of - the only thing standard is the interior, although from the outside aside from the wheels it looks standard! Ok so the RS is much more shouty but with 500bhp - Shout Away Sir! - Best of luck with it - all the best! 👍👍👍👍

A hot hatch and 500 hp spells a lot of fun. Since you mention coming to Germany and the Nürburgring, you might want to visit HGP Turbo and check out their Golf R Mark 7.5 with a twin Turbo 3.6 Liter V6, Audi RS3 Seven Speed DSG transmission and upwards of 740 HP.Taking hot hatches to a new level, while retaining every day drivability. I agree with other comments to paint the bonnet on your RS.

God, that RS is gonna sound fucking INSANE. CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR IT!!! You should have made a before tune exhaust rev and put it in a comparison video with the after tune exhaust sound... but I'm excited anyways!

Truly Amazing. I hope you look at painting the wheels black to get the full two-tone look.
I think what's really highlighted how bad the carbon fiber bonnet looks to so many people is just how nice the Mountune RS looked next to yours. In my opinion it really needs the bonnet painting red. It's similar to how your Ford GT looks next to the silver one at Topaz, yours looks so much better as the red accentuates all the details.

That carbon bonnet looks dope.
Btw, you're missing the carbon fiber RS Air Box cover upgrade, a matching washer fluid cap and matching fluid caps. You can also swap out the cheesy and cheap hood releases to ones that are anodized aluminum. Just other dress up mods that'll really make the car pop.
