While no project car is ever truly finished, I'm getting somewhere with my Red Edition Focus RS! With the spring approaching, it'll be time to get it out on the roads and some laps at the Nurburgring but there are still one or two more modifications to be added...
use the GPS for the exhaust to close the flap when you go past the noise measurements at the Nürburgring :D Suspension: KW suspension directly at the Nürburgring is the obvious choice.
Yesss. I have a kw v3 on my ST, and its crazy on road and track. And i had a couple of brands on my cars in the past, like bilstein and AP. But KW feels the best imo
Tim, thank you so much for respecting the heritage of your cars. I'm sick and tired of watching a bunch of guys who are just children growing older destroy some of the world's finest cars in the pursuit of doing what's "cool"-I think you can imagine which YT channels I'm thinking about. 👍🏼👍🏼
You've done such an excellent job on this car mate! I have a black RS, minute mods, a Mountune air filter and a carbon fiber RS gear knob, I absolutely love it.
Simply PHENOMINAL! This is how the RS should have looked right out of the factory. Well done Shmee. This is definitely one of the best Focus RS's...no, make that one the best hot hatches I have ever seen. Again, job well done! Thank you for sharing with us. Enjoy!
You couldn't be any more correct, on the definition of a "project car"! I've restored and/or customized hundreds, maybe thousands of cars by now and dang near every time, the customer begins the consultation with "so I have this project car". Once it's completed to the owners taste, no matter who did the work, then it's no longer a project car... but as you also pointed out, they're never truly finished so cheers to all the perpetual project cars! Besides, I'm pretty sure most all of us, would prefer you spend your time doing these awesome videos!
What amazes me is the attention to detail. And the finished look is not 'pimp my ride'-like but one of a 'factory enhanced' styling which is very brilliant.
This kind of car just make sense. For getting around to your regular run around places in the city and for the ease of parking this is a great every day driver. You still get the fun of the quickness and driving fun! Driving exotics every day is fine, but this fills the driving sensibility gap very well.
I agree with your assessment of what a project car is. Some people have the vision, but not the skill, or lack a place to perform the modifications. That doesn't mean they should be criticized for getting someone else to fulfill their vision
I'm not usually a fan of modifying special/limited edition cars, but...... I really like this and think this is how the Focus RS should have been designed in the first place. Great job
Really enjoy your RS’s, they are the reason I found your channel. I hope you keep the red for a few more years at least so we can see it in action. Enjoy the road no matter how you got there!
I don't think what you're doing is the wrong way necessarily, but I think individuals convey their thoughts incorrectly. When you work on something yourself and witness the final results that you accomplished, that joy is real and palpable. It's different then giving someone money and watching the car take shape. I think what you're doing is amazing and often those who build a project themselves are envious because they aren't able to afford having someone accomplish what you're doing. Either way, keep up the amazing content! The one thing I'm envious of is that I'll never get to drive this amazing beast! :) Cheers mate!
Looks so much better with the red bonnet and I like the new fenders too. I wondered whether the black would be too much and maybe just keep the venting black but now I see it on the car, it looks great. The interior is smart - even with quite a bit of plastic remaining. It still looks a lot more high end than it did originally...
you did a great Job on the Car. I am modifying my Focus for 4 years now and did like everything on it by myself expect paintjobs. People just get negative on you because they are not fine with themselves. The car looks awesome ! Have fun with it. Greets from Germany and btw I am a ford dealer by msyself. 👍🏼👍🏼😁
Just wondering how your car is making that power as the four cars I am aware of that have the M520 kit fitted including my own are making 480 bhp,600nm, and three of the four have failed!!
It must be genuinely satisfying to drop a couple of 10k in to a car and make it truly impressive like this. On your supercars, that kind of budget probably wouldn't make such noticeable difference.
Tim, if you ever sold this, maybe you would think about putting it up to your viewers in a 'win Shmee's personal Red Edition'? Of all the cars you own, this would be the most affordable for one of your viewers to actually maintain and would make for a great competition. I'm in Australia and as long as you don't mind the shipping costs I'd definitely put my name down!!! I mean, it's already right hand drive... WINNING!!!
That RS looks and sounds amazing. Just a suggestion, If you put some red stitching on the sides of the seatbelts, or put completely red seatbelts in? I think it would compliment the seats and the rest of the interior nicely
Absolutely love this RS! So similar to what I'm doing to my own project car. The only thing I would personally add is black housed or smoked LED rear lights. I think that would make the back pop! Much love!
Can you make a video where you actually put your foot down and use that borg warner turbo attached to the engine , instead of wandering around london at 20mph
KW makes a computer controlled coilover setup for the RS, and mountune carries it! Matt Farrah complained about how his RS drove and after going to 18in wheels, and that suspension he said it was MUCH better. 18's couldn't hurt to get more rubber on the road too, if you really want to track it you can't go wrong with a Toyo R888.
Virtual perfection! If only the front track could be spaced? The wheels are really hiding under the front arches now. Still, a massive improvement on normal mk3 looks. Love it!
Thankfully... Shmee is a TH-camr that does NOT feel the need to make all wheels Black. I must say though Shmee, a real Project car is one you do most of the "putting together" yourself. You don't do the painting and probably won't build the engine, but putting it together is really the definition of a Project car. This car is really your "Mofificiation Car".
If you'd want a power-modded car to have wheels that stick out a bit more, get wheels with the right offset. I wouldn't go with wheel spacers on a car that's been modded +150hp.
You should definitely fit a big brake kit and adjustable suspension, once the suspension is fitted you should take it Manthey-Racing and have it dialed in for the ring.
Do I detect a slight cold there Shmee? This car is looking amazing now - Having the bonnet (hood) painted to match the body colour has made all the difference!
those plastic parts around the wing mirror is giving me the same feeling as the plastic louvres on the GTR Pro. no idea if something that obscure has a carbon fibre aftermarket replacement option, or even topaz skinning them red or piano black, just, stands out more so now the mirror caps and fenders are carbon. as well as that, the window surrounds maybe to match the area around the mirror, would really finish off that cars look. other than that one thing, the car is looking phenomenal, keep up the good work and looking forward to the future of that car and the channel!
I think if you can't or don't feel comfortable doing work yourself there's nothing with having a professional doing the work. Just as long you don't claim you've done it yourself. Personally I do as much as I can with my limited mechanical knowledge but I learn as I go. Also the heritage RS needs a mountune exhaust and the sound serpression chamber
With the louvers on the bonnet I noticed there closed off on the inside or was it the camera angles. If so is there a need for this in winter or is it a part that can be removed for track days....?
Car looks nearly perfect and yes the Values are holding nicely...Should just give that red one away for subs...add some Red Seat belts, Red 3rd Brake light, and a super premium high quality sound system; then its ready to go. There are so many amazing cars atm, might as well just keep the Heritage and give away the red.
I have the kw suspension by Litchfield, it's a game changer for the RS. So much better on track and so much more comfortable for daily use! For BBK, the revo one has good reviews!
word of advice! DO NOT go on the Autobahn before the brakes are swapped! Your videos are enjoyable, so would like to keep seeing them in the longrun too
Looks absolutely amazing Tim, well done! You missed 2 RS badges. The one on the steering wheel and the one on the engine cover are still blue. My OCD would require that they match the other grey ones 😀
I think you need some front spacers or to make the figment better to give the car a nicer resting stance 👌 maybe rear arches to go with the front ones?
Really looks epic. With the wider front wings i would put 30mm spacers on the front as would look more aggressive. Itd look better with the wider wings and would corner better aswell. Maybe tint or smoke the rear light as theres loads of carbon? Would you be able to do a break down of costs video for all the mods youve done to inspire more rs owners? Great though Shmee love the channel
While no project car is ever truly finished, I'm getting somewhere with my Red Edition Focus RS! With the spring approaching, it'll be time to get it out on the roads and some laps at the Nurburgring but there are still one or two more modifications to be added...
Shmee150 that’s a nice focus shmee!
Maybe some wheel spacers? Possibly 15 mm . Give it a more aggressive stance.
Shmee is the BEST!!!
What are you going to do when ur project car is finished
Nicely done!
use the GPS for the exhaust to close the flap when you go past the noise measurements at the Nürburgring :D
Suspension: KW suspension directly at the Nürburgring is the obvious choice.
That is exactly how you could set it up!!
Yesss. I have a kw v3 on my ST, and its crazy on road and track. And i had a couple of brands on my cars in the past, like bilstein and AP. But KW feels the best imo

Well done Tim it looks unique and special.

What about the sequential box? (Looks stunning btw)
The development work isn't actually finished yet so it's not something to rush into while they get it refined
@@Shmee150 Don't do the sequential box. You'll regret it in my experience.
@@Shmee150 I'm really excited to see it when you get it sequential.
7:55 why are the holes closed from the inside of the bonnet ?
Mountune have their own intake system.. extra air isn't required
@@AhuCJ Except those are exhausts, not inlets.

I think the looks would improve even more with some spacers on the wheels.
Thinking about it
agreed otherwise it is perfect 👍
I agree, but nothing excessive, please
Regarding the red Mountune logo in front: "It gives it intent."... Choice selection of words!!!
This kind of car just make sense. For getting around to your regular run around places in the city and for the ease of parking this is a great every day driver. Perfect spec Focus RS. Love the carbon trim accents!
Hats off to you for being real, and saying out loud you haven't done it yourself! This was a very sympathetic move! Car is crazy!! nicely done
I agree with your assessment of what a project car is. Some people have the vision, but not the skill, or lack a place to perform the modifications. That doesn't mean they should be criticized for getting someone else to fulfill their vision
You seem like an estate agent , rather than a car enthusiast. Very polite, and softly spoken. Could easily be a children’s tv presenter

It's looking brilliant with the red bonnet. I quite liked the look of it before, but now it actually looks quite discreet. I like it a lot!
I'm getting so much enjoyment out of this series. Shmee150 is criminally underrated!
Looks much better than the bare carbon bonnet. Well done.
Really enjoy your RS’s, they are the reason I found your channel. I hope you keep the red for a few more years at least so we can see it in action. Enjoy the road no matter how you got there!
I think your car looks so cool with everything you have done to it. Once the big brake kits and suspension get done it will be even more awesome.
Tims so savvy.. he has supercars.. but good to do a few reviews on cars that are more 'accessible' to us the viewers .. very smart ;)
This Focus is such a unique part of the garage! It surly gives a different flavor of drive than the low, lightweight, supercars of the garage😎👌
8:19 maybe a set of performance brake pads and discs as that's as beneficial as a big brake kit, can I suggest EBC brakes
Plans in motion, you'll see what's coming soon
everything EBC is awful! Nothing like a decent bbk AP Pro 5000 calipers two piece AP disc Endless pads and Endless fluid 👌
Tom Hinchcliffe i would rather use pagid pads, much better then endless.
My endless pads on my evo crumbled so fast, shit house pads tbh
@@SVB02 depends what compound I've used RS29 but Endless high end pads are known to be the best just expensive
But Tim, a project car is never finished ;)

Love the looks of the RS!! Very sporty but not over the top!!! A Real Rocket under the hood and with the exhaust!!!!
Do a back to back testdrive with your orange RS, and a MK1, Mk2 and your red edition too! We need some 5 cylinder sounds on the channel!

Great improvement on the looks now it’s painted.
By far one of the nicest hatchbacks ever
The best Focus I have ever seen. Only thing to beat that would be a WRC Focus 👍🏼
Tim when the time comes to sell please give your subscribers a heads up because I know there must be a lot of us that would jump at the opportunity 😅

Those seats look awesome in that colour, but the more I see them the more issues I see. Great idea, average execution.
yeh the seats dont look like the best job imo
Andy Driftwood yeah that red alcantara would REALLY show stains🤭.
Really dig your RS Tim, from the retrimed interior to the subtle-ish carbon bits of the exterior. Looks almost stock, in a good way
This looks so much better!! I want to see it next to the GT
The hood and fenders came out nice with what you left exposed in carbon
You should take advantage of those seats and fit a harness, maybe a 4 point. Good thing for track days!
To get the harness in, I'd need a cage for them to strap to and that kills the back seats
I was just hoping you would eventually get the hood painted but the other parts all make it look like a totally different car. I love it!
Would also love to know the total price of all upgrades and I'm interested when you sell
