That's Toyota thinking ahead of everyone else, a car so bone stock yet so user friendly to modify it and making it better without any unnecessary branding of such potential.
Over-engineer for a better experience. Exactly how they made the supra, they kept sending bmw their parts back cuz they couldnt handle the toyota stress tests
I just bought an FR-S and this video is so accurate, the amount of aftermarket support and options is so huge it’s overwhelming. Cant wait to build mine up and make it my own tho🤟🏼
Remember to not compair it to other builds. With how common the car is in the modding community, if you can think of it, it's already been done lol always build to what YOU want.
I'm at 5.5 years, finished all the mods I've wanted, paid it off, and still not interested in other cars. I feel like I should move to a MK V Supra but I hate automatics. Guess I'll just save some money for once.
As a 86 owner myself the only complaint i have about the car is how slow it is stock, but after market car part companies have made it so fun to customize ! Great video guys !!
Answer: 2g DSM- spooliboi noises at 30psi on mostly stock internals once you rehab everything (which you should do anyway) but I might be a lil bias...
I have a '15 BRZ. My mods: OpenFlash Tablet tune (my 1st mod - it neatly fills in the torque dip, more torque and power) Enkei M52 wheels with Continental WinterContact tires (worn out & replaced with Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 - I drive mine in the Winter, especially when it snows) FT-86 Speedfactory catted UEL header (eliminated the torque dip, added more torque and power, boxer rumble) Perrin Gurney Flap (just looks good) Polk Audio MM 6502 component speakers (I replaced the door woofers and tossed the tweeters) Infinity Reference REF-3032cfx, two pairs (replaced the dash and back seat panel speakers) 20 lbs of sound deadening material (roof, doors, back fenders, trunk - it keeps the speakers from rattling the body, slight reduction in road noise) Toyota mud flaps (functional and they look good) Enkei RPF1 wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (this one performance upgrade is astounding! Do this First!) FT-86 Speedfactory V1 cat-back exhaust (Stainless won't rust, loud but sounds awesome, boxer rumble even better!) I can see a few (Yes, a very, very few) people who might buy one of the Toyobaru twins and be entirely satisfied with it. But this car BEGS to be modified just as much as it begs to be driven at high rpm. This car educates you, teaches you stuff you did not know you needed to know!
God I hate all of you... Or at least I am just jelly... I live in Alaska, so there's probably only like 50 S2Ks in the whole state... One-day, I will find one, but I'm gonna have to travel...

I woulda guessed a mid 90's honda civic 🤣 probably the most aftermarket support, and everyone has done everything imaginable to one and posted about it on a forum somewhere, extremely reliable, extremely easy to work on, and very inexpensive 😅
No one can tell you what you can and can't mode but my only rule is don't mod your first car unless it's the car you know you'll have or have been looking for
Fair enough rule. In my opinion you should be able to mod your first car if you choose, just as long as it isn't going to be majorly modded including messing with the engine. I have a few bolt ons with a tune on my ST and have been driving it for a while and drive it hard all the time, no problems knock on wood.
My first car was an already modified eg coupe lmaoo. b20 swap, coil overs, aftermarket exhaust, the works. Sold it after learning manual on it and bought an RSX Type-S, which was exactly what I was looking for. Can't wait to mod this thing
I've modified every car I've ever owned. Blew them up and sold them. Build that shit Blow that shit up Move on to the next one Then once you find the right car for you, you build that shit, blow that shit up, and then rebuild it.
I have to agree wholeheartedly. Although I don't own a FRS/BRZ/86. I drive a WRX and I swear the WRX/STI are also just as perfect. So much aftermarket parts available with a bunch of support for the platform that makes us enthusiasts basically a cult.
Love my '13 BRZ! Sure, the headunits are pretty trash but besides that these cars are so much fun! I'm not even the only Twin owner in my small prairie town. Though I will say, daily driving them in the harsh conditions that is Canada you do get looks in the winter time as you scoot on by all the SUVs and lifted trucks in the ditch at -30°C
For me the answer is easy. Manual AU XR6 falcon. *They're cheap. (At the moment! Prices will skyrocket in the next 10 years) *You can get them with a double wishbone irs and lsd from stock. *4 litre straight six that makes 164 kw at the crank from factory, and even more with the VCT model engine. *These straight sixes are known to be able to do more than a million ks on the same, un-rebuilt engines, and still go strong. *Makes enormous gains in power with cheap, basic mods. *can have them running 11's all day with spending maybe 5k on mods *It's a very well balanced, aerodynamic chassis that was built for sustained high speed, and even suitable for drifting. I mean, to me it's everything I could want and more.
Let's be honest , another reason this car has so much support behind it is because of the anime initial D , alot of people myself included bought the car because of that anime alone which would result into companies investing money to support this dope platform.
Dude on my vr4 in high school sucked to work on. Ever had to use only wrenches to work on a car. Buy a vr4. I remember my dad had a set of ratchet wrenchs he would never let me use. You know how much time that would save! Back then they were super expensive now that im older i understand.
Any Nissan Z from '07 and up... you can do a drift, drag, track, show, or daily build... or you can start out picking from the absolute widest assortment of aftermarket parts to customize the appearance or skillfully make your own unique pieces. 280whp not enough power on a 3.3k lb car? Pick from any of the bolt on, single turbo, twin turbo, supercharger kits or parts out there that are proven to make up to 370whp NA or an easy 400 to 700whp boosted on the stock block... easy choice of a perfect platform for real modding.
VQ's are a good platform with lots of aftermarket, Facebook groups, old forums, etc, cheap to outright buy, etc. very good platform although parts are kinda speedy. custom rear mount turbo setup is also pretty cheap. or even a used vortex supercharger can be bought at a decent price.
Me personally I don’t go for fast, i go for looks. I don’t have a fast car, I’ve a Gen 8 Camry and I’m modifying it my way to my liking. And... imma buy wheels, tires & suspension on Fitment Industries of course.

Figment industries keep saying how these cars are everywhere, I bought mine a year ago, and I’ve only ever seen 2 other modified Brz’s in my city and very few stocks ones, not to mention mines the only one boosted, it gets very lonely I thought I was gonna be waving to lots of twins☹️
Best car to modify due to my personal experience is the Fiesta ST. Turbo charged and when I bought mine brand new it was way cheaper than a brz/Frs. And there is tons of parts for the Fiesta ST (with the Exception of wheel choices for it). But besides wheels u can buy basically anything for it.
bro this might just be me, but I hate when sports cars have backseats. But can you imagine having a widebody boosted brz/frs/86 and a widebody boosted 350z?? That would be so cool
The short answer is that they're too easy to modify. It's the same reason paint by numbers kits and wine and painting nights are so popular among early to mid 20s women; you don't have to know what you're doing, you get to do something and look the part that you want to represent. Obviously this isn't universal, but it is a pretty fair generalization.

THEWATER3UCKET as a Chevy fan that has a Silverado and e36 I can say without a doubt the sn95 is the #1 best bang for your buck to modify.
