Without question the Triton is the best bang for your buck. I’m just about to buy our second Triton GLS now. That’s right we’re a two Triton family and loving it.
Just bought a 2019 Mitsubishi Triton GLS Premium and absolutely love it... its cheaper and comes with electric, leather, heated seats, rear air con, 360 degree camera, rear diff lock, super select ii 4wd system (which is awesome) it has to be the best value for money ute hands down, plus the 7 years warranty, 3 yrs capped price service, 4 yrs aus wide road side assist is the icing on the cake.
been looking at these, only downside for me is no manual in the gls premium :( so It'd be just the regular gls if I did go ahead with one eh I can live without leather seats lol
i got to say, the triton is a better buy than a hilux but if you want the best bang for the buck, the great wall steed is the answer... just half the price of a triton

Bought a Triton GSR last week. 10 year warranty and fixed price servicing. May not be the best ute, but the best value for money for sure. The Mivec 2.4 TD engine with 6sp Aisin gearbox PLUS super select 2 transfer case. You can’t beat that!

I know right. Clearly they don't know much about the triton. If the lux had full time 4wd these reviewers would blow it out of the water as if it's the greatest thing on Earth.
@fukthegoog yeah some countries include mine get the crappy, low spec models. As for the traction control it's actually pretty awesome until wheels leave the ground. It's slow to sense wheel slip and slow in transferring power to wheels that have traction. And often times when it transfers power to the wheels with traction, it's not enough to get out of the situation. And honestly I don't think the triton has the most uncomfortable ride, I think the Hilux will take that honor because the suspension is way more stiff than the Triton's.
@Mitch09 the triton has two 4wd systems. One is part time, one is full time. You probably have the part time 4wd system which is the easy select system. The super select 2 is the full time 4wd system.
@fukthegoog yeah diff lockers are the way to go. Traction control is only good in certain situations but lockers are great for any situation. Just upsetting that in certain countries these companies offer low spec models without the locker. But if you have an lsd it should get you through any situation.
"Best family ute" unless of course you have an accident then it's the worst option given our has ZERO rear airbags. That should automatically disqualify it from any "best family" comparisons
Mitchy Paul it didn’t need ten in 2009 to get its 5-star rating, the Ranger PX didn’t have them either and it failed. The PX2 addressed this issue and added them and still scored the same as the Amarok for side impact. What you do t understand is safety is structural integrity and size first and airbags second. You are 1% safer in the Ranger. Good luck to you and your recommendations if you are T-bones at 80kmh because you are in for a rude shock.
Further to this neither the Ranger or ANY Ute has ever been tested for rear passenger safety. It is pure speculation to conclude the affect of rear seat passengers. It has never been tested. The only Ute to be tested on rear passsengers is the new X-Class as it came after 2017 when the ANCAP changed its requirements. You can download the reports from their website. Interesting both Amarok and Ranger scored the same on 60kmh side impact.
@@orangejuicepony6881 I agree with this setiment! most aussies are driving around in clapped out beaters from the early 2000's - they might have had half decent safety ratings in 1999, but is the average 04 camry or whatver the fuck shitheap going to score a 5 star in 2019 - neigh chance.
metalmaster76 exactly. Bit of perspective is required when shopping. The Amarok is not unsafe by any measure. But could be even safer with additional features but you can say that about any car and 4wd still today.
V6 Highline here with lift, 32s and recovery points. What a beast, fun to drive bloody hell does it go fast around corners. Faster than most passenger cars! And it all translates to the Fraser trip, reminds me of the turbo Forester I used to thrash up there.
The triton and is still the same bucket of shit it always was and Toyota really didn't put much thought into the minelux very uncomfortable heavy on fuel and it looks like they screwed an iPad to the dash for a radio not to mention the poor seating
I own a hilux (2016 sr5) for short rides is fine, but after 30 minutes it starts getting a little uncomfortable but it’s not that bad I’ve done 3 hours on constant and it’s fine for me. Fuel economy is probably its biggest down as the dpf is shocking... my mate bought the latest triton coming from a 2015 sr5 and his regretting his financial decision 😂 he was boasting about the new triton for the first month then started hating it.
Dubious people hate on the hilux because they don’t own one... but I do admit the ranger and the Amarok are just as good it’s basically personal preference at this point.
A power button to give it a bit more sparkle...how about you actually look up what it actually does and provide a more informative review than this puff piece you have dished up.
I have to disagree with almost every review. Especially the Triton. And apparently most other car journalists too since they say almost the opposite of this guy. He has good delivery though.
@@peterbrowning1251 For the family you cannot beat Triton. It has the most leg room front and back and the most comfortable (reclined more) rear seats and full airbag suit.
The Amarok has No rear seat airbags. I'm not willing to place My family in danger of a side impact to the head. The real question is.. why aren't there rear seat airbags? VW certainly has the technical knowledge, just look at how good the no low range auto is off road.
I think people are sometimes mislead by resale value. If a Hilux costs say $7k more new than another brand, then you would expect $7k more resale value when 5 years old.
This is the problem with using a % as the guide to resale. If you buy something 10k cheaper you can have a lot lower resale % and still be a lot better off in $'s term at resale time.
Why is it IMPOSSIBLE to find a review on the utes for us working men? Alloy tray and not the "pretty crap" I want plastic not cloth. You put down the hose out floor but this is what we need. Only people who drive a sr5 are people who don't USE them. What about the single cab? These are never reviewed.
Popey squirrel just but a real truck all of these trucks suck balls dude get a ram 3500 or ford 350. You would never buy these for work they can’t do anything!
Jake B, it all depends on the kind of work you do. If you need greater towing or hauling capacity, then you need a more powerful vehicle. That said, these mid-sized pickups are versatile and offer decent performance. The Hilux’s reliability and capability is legendary; speaking with Newsweek, Andrew Exum, a former U.S. Army Ranger and fellow at the Center for a New American Security, said of the Hilux that, “It kicks the hell out of the Humvee.” Qualitatively, the Hilux outperforms anything Ram or Ford can ever produce. But, according to real-world specs, the Hilux is not so little: it can haul a load somewhere in the whereabouts of 2300lbs, and can tow close to 8000 lbs. That easily covers many small businesses needs. Rams, unfortunately, don’t even make the reliability charts; they’re plagued - and always have been - with too many problems. The same goes for the Fords after the year 2000. American truck manufacturers are more interested in making profit by offering blandishments rather than making solid workhorses. You need a reliable heavy-duty truck? Get a Hino. Outperforms anything American by a mile!
Yeah not really, I own one and services cost me the same as my brother who has a triton. And also I don't have to fix my gearbox every 100km when third gear pops out
I just went and drove all of the utes on the market and really I think the top 2 now are the PX3 Ranger and Mitsi Triton. I honestly thought the Triton is nicer to drive than an Amarok or Merc X class they are that good now. We ended up going for a new Ranger, but our other vehicle is a Mitsi Pajero Sport (basically a really fancy Triton wagon), which I think easily leads the 4x4 SUV class apart from styling maybe.
Buying a Dual Cab ute is easy. Pick the one that you like to look at because ultimately they are very similar in all departments. They all have plenty of power off road even at 130kw for the hilux (and producing good torque lower in the rev range). If you want a fast car don't buy a dual cab diesel ute as power is great but far from the most important factor. $2500 gets you great after market suspension and another $1500 on some good off-roading rubber and around $1500 for a differential locker and you are done. But ultimately the Hilux is the worst for price, Triton is the best for price.
Tyson Collier, look at it this way : which of all these trucks will sell for more ten years down the road? The extra money spent on a Hilux comes back in resale value. Do the math, and think ahead! I sold my 8-year old Hilux for over half of its initial value and got the 2018 model. Great vehicle; no DPF problems, no other issues.
@@lilnips spec for spec its 10k more then D Max and 13k more then Triton , that's when I purchased my last D Max and the previous D Max dual cab in 09 cost the same as a base model single cab Hilux and that's fact , over the 10 years the D Max absolutely creamed the Hilux for reliability , resale the same .
@@bethoughtprovoking pay 10k more for the same spec vehicle and go figure you'll get that back at resale , you can throw a blanket over the top four on resale .
Owned both the Ranger and the Colorado and I must say that I am so happy that I sold the Ranger and bought the Colorado, especially for the general tough look and the quality seems to better with GM than Ford. No issues and the Colorado seems to be built to last! Would like to try the Hilux but I recent paying more just because most people like it!
The real pickup for the family is actually the Nissan NP300 Navara because it has very smooth suspension and a little bit lower chassis also the Mitsubishi triton is good for the family same reason because of the smooth suspension on the other hand if your planing to buy a pickup just to carry heavy loads the hilux is the best because it has bumpy suspension that will become smooth when loaded many items, but the best of all pickup in terms of off road is probably the ford raptor.
@@MrTimstaaa You can say that with any car these days, no matter the brand or model. Overall the past Amarok's have had far less issues then most of the other brands, but it does cost slightly more. Guess you get what you pay for
I have a 2016 Triton, I do a lot of 4wding and I love the car BUT!!!! the warranty and after sales service here in Frankston in Melbourne is absolutely horrendous, I took it to some tracks that were a little bit more than just a dirt rd and went through a large puddle that was only about 800 ml deep and got some mud in the alternator bearing, I took it in to be fixed under warranty and was told quite firmly that it wouldn't be covered by any warranty because I took it off road and went deeper than 600 ml in water!!!!!!!, since then I dont have a warranty on a car a week after I brought it. so I guess buyer beware of the warranty pitfalls.....
Mate, whoever wrote your script needs to be taken out the back and whipped. Lowlux (er, I mean Hilux) fanboi much? You were just about drooling on the upholstery. "Power button for more sparkle"? Sparkle of what ... pixie dust? To me, that just shows the age of the technology. Newer autos don't need the 'power' button because they're smart enough to adapt to the driver's inputs and respond appropriately. "People like them"? Sure ... people like Surströmming as well ... doesn't necessarily make it good. But hey, if you like it, knock yourself out. While you're at it, why not gush on about the 2.8's DPF woes? Part time 4WD on the Triton? Amarok this group's *only* full time 4WD system? Sorry, just flat out wrong information. The top-spec Tritons get Super Select II 4WD, which has a full-time 4WD setting with a lockable viscous centre differential that can vary torque split 33/67 front/back to 50/50. You also neglect to talk about the other aspects of these vehicles' powertrain systems - differential locks and electronic stability / traction systems. Amarok? Sure, love the V6 - I do think the Japanese automakers should grow a pair and offer bigger donks in their utes, but the 4-bangers they put out these days are perfectly adequate unless you're Steve McQueen. However, no rear airbags in a 5 seat passenger vehicle is unforgivable. How unforgivable? Just do a TH-cam search for "side impact crash test no airbags" and see for yourself. Also, no low range in an off-road-capable 4x4 is pretty dumb (personal opinion). Overall this review seemed quite biased, amateurish and poorly executed, and was in no way a comprehensive comparo. What about off-road capability? What about load capacity and towing ability? Loaded handling? Payload? Servicing and warranty? Safety features and their operation? All you really seemed to look at was on-road handling and how car-like they are. If you want a car, go buy a car. These things all have leaf-springed solid rear axles set up for carrying moderate loads - they are never going to be as comfortable on the road as softer SUVs. If you cannot live with that fact, then an SUV and a good little box-trailer are probably more suitable for you.
Steve P you seem to miss the point of this review as a family oriented look at the best option in this class, thus off-road capability, max load and differential locks mean nothing to what, let’s be honest, will be suburban shuttles. The lack of low range in the Amarok is negate for most people as the “off-roading” they do wont stress that vehicle, especially given it’s incredibly short first gear ratio. If it’s serious off-road you heading, get something else. I do concede the amarok shouldn’t win a family comparison due to the lack of rear air bags. Further the amarok is the only FULL TIME 4wd Ute here and yes the triton can be driven full time however it has the option to be driven in 2wd therefore it is NOT full time 4wd. All I’m saying if you seemed to have missed the point of this comparison, thus most of your arguments are null and void.
@@Bembo985 Full time 4wd refers to being able to operate the 4wd system on tarmac rather than just low grip surfaces. Jeep have a similar system to Mitsubishi and it's even labelled as 4 Full Time on their shifter and literature with part time referring to locked centre 4wd operation.
Steve P, this wasn’t an off-road comparison test, so much of your rant is irrelevant. So, you’re a Hilux-hater; I’m okay with that. But, objectively speaking, the Hilux has proven itself the world over for reliability and value. Of all off-road trucks, Toyota pickups always get the highest reliability ratings. I think you’ll agree that an achievement of that magnitude DOES mean something. I’ve had Toyota’s all my life and can vouch for their robust quality and durability. So long as you respect it for what it is, the Hilux will serve you impeccably for many years. Don’t expect it to be a luxury SUV; it’s not. I’ve heard about DPF problems with the 2.8l in Australia, but, here in Europe, no such issues. My 2018 Dual Cab is impeccable.
@@bethoughtprovoking As someone who repairs 4wd utes and wagons for a living, I can assure you this is not the case, the Hilux's issues predate the 1GD by a decade or so, essentially ever since the change to common rail Toyota has struggled to screw together a diesel with the sort of in class longevity things like the 1HZ/1HD provided.

if you go onto the site australiancar.reviews problems and recalls, you will see the history of all these ute's and over the years Mitsubishi Triton's win hands down all the rest are littered with recalls and manufacturing problems that the manufacturers won't fix. Whist the Triton's do have a few minor recalls and one or two problems like engine overheating all the rest are literally littered with problems and faults, I personally (after hours and hours of research) wouldn't ever buy anything other than a Triton.

I've been in all four trucks before and I have to say, the Amarok is the only ute I properly liked. The Triton is a very good budget ute, but personally, I don't think it fits our needs. The Hilux feels too much like a work ute rather than a comfort ute, but it is definitely a tough ute. The Ranger felt sluggish and poorly-built, also, the reliability of them makes me dislike them. The Amarok takes power, comfort, and quality to a whole new level for a ute, a fabulous thing.
Triton have come along way, full credit Hilux have gone backwards. Navara are under rated . Dmax are awesome .Colorado my 2nd pick Ranger hands down the best & proven!
2012 amarok came with rear diff lock as standard, dual zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, touchscreen and heated leather seats. If you want future tech in any vehicle before the rest of the world catches up, you go with Euro. Driven bt50, ranger, triton and Hilux; nothing comes close to the Amarok. Well 50k plus cheap for dual cab ute. I dont think its so cheap considering have to spend another 10k on these cars to make them comfortable for work or camping. i dont know why they can have some comfortable seats in a 50k car, Also hilux have the lowest towing capacity of the group ?
The Triton looks the most appealing. Followed by the Hilux. The engine in the Triton is also very refined. It has mivec turbo diesel engine that Mitsubishi tunes very conservatively. It's also very reliable. Volkswagens are only good when they are new. They end up being more unreliable than even Ford in the long run. Vw needs to get their act together. Their newer engines are poorly made. I don't get why he criticized the stitching in the Hilux. It makes the interior look premium. I hope Ford built the engine properly , too much forced induction is not good for an engine In the long run. Having twin turbo with a lower displacement engine than the rest will lead to high maintenance.
Why the hilux is so expensive? And its not so comfortable like the other 7utes, it also failed in some test, offroad its also not so good. Is it obly for the name? Not that i don't like the hilux, but u just ask a question!!!

I have a hilux and a triton and my friend has a colorado 2020 and honestly we all agree that the hilux sucks. Off road the hilus goes down like a kart full of bricks, the triton and colorado sometime too slow . Hilux gets bogged everytimes. I am happier with the triton for everything but towing. I use the hilux only for towing. The ranger is gutless and honestly if you do anything else than driving around any of these cars sucks unless you change the suspensions and stuff. VW Amarok owner here and getting over these bullsh*t reviews where they rate the Amarok towards the top of almost every review as a family ute when it has the least safety from every other ute on the market. Even the Chinese utes have better safety. No rear airbags means I would never put kids in the back and therefore should be disqualified from any family vehicle comparison. In addition to that the Amarok is the least reliable and most costly to repair and service.

The bit I'm more annoyed about is that it's 2019, other manufacturers have stepped up their game in terms of features and safety and yet Amarok hasn't changed a single thing since it was released in 2011. They put in a new head unit but no rear airbags, no auto braking, no lane departure warning, and they command a premium price for it. It's an absolute joke. If you look at the features compared to other manufacturers you get more value from a base model dmax or triton than you would from a top spec ultimate Amarok. Anyways this car can really get my blood boiling. It's a POS and avoid buying one at all costs.
Should be test driving these cars on this segment, with one tonne on their backs and a two tonne trailer. These cars seem to be show pony's for domestic use more then how a ute should really be .
Without question the Triton is the best bang for your buck. I’m just about to buy our second Triton GLS now. That’s right we’re a two Triton family and loving it.
Triton is very nice pick up . Triton is king of road😎😎😍
The manual gearbox 2.4 combined is awful.......
@@boyteebah3794 yeah but u get what u pay for with great walls, only 110kw 310nm td and only 2 t towing, I need a vehicle for towing purposes mostly I got 2220kgs to pull and that's not including all the extra stuff I need to carry too (got a track car I need to tow to and from events) I'd need minimum 3 ton capacity, the top 3 I like are ranger triton or Colorado, the triton peaked my interest being there 10-20k cheaper than a ranger and just as good for what I need, the top gls with everything I'd need is only 52k onroad the equivalent ranger is close to 70k lol even the xlt will be 63 and all u get is an extra 14kw 40nms and 400kg towing, an extra 20k for that is a rip off, on the used market yeah I'd go a ranger possibly but they have terrible resale by the looks of it a 2016 ranger is around 17-20k a 2016 triton is still 30-33k .

The Triton does have full time 4 wheel drive. The reviewer said the Amarok was the only one with full time 4 wheel drive.
I know right. Clearly they don't know much about the triton. If the lux had full time 4wd these reviewers would blow it out of the water as if it's the greatest thing on Earth.
Geeezuz - pretty B grade guys, the all wheel drive in the super select Mitsubishi has been around since Christ was alive.
Interesting both Amarok and Ranger scored the same on 60kmh side impact.
yeah, not to pile on but this is a really stupid comment.
Just bought Triton and it comes with 5 years warranty or 200k ...that give peace of mind for me.
Reliability totally glossed over. Welcome to Drive.com.au reviews.
Hilux has the most uncomfortable ride of all. That's y I don't buy this comparison.
He said its ride comfort is better than triton.. i call BS
I have a 2015 SR5+ and have driven for 6 hours without getting uncomfortable
Dubious people hate on the hilux because they don’t own one... but I do admit the ranger and the Amarok are just as good it’s basically personal preference at this point.
A power button to give it a bit more sparkle...how about you actually look up what it actually does and provide a more informative review than this puff piece you have dished up.
DJ 2 timing timmy.... I have an sr5, I have a sparkle button too. It was a joke mate, take it easy
He is giving it the attention it deserves.
It just makes the throttle more sensative. Should called throttle remap.
I have to disagree with almost every review. Especially the Triton. And apparently most other car journalists too since they say almost the opposite of this guy. He has good delivery though.
You recommend the Amarok as the best for a family but yet it has no rear airbags?
Now low range either.
@@peterbrowning1251 For the family you cannot beat Triton. It has the most leg room front and back and the most comfortable (reclined more) rear seats and full airbag suit.
@@peterbrowning1251 Doesn't need it, I've never needed it in mine, first gear is almost the same ratio as low range
My standard Rok did almost everything my mates lifted hilux did... it needs a little lift and better tyres as my bash plates took a hiding.
Yeah no rear airbags....!!?? Also can’t order as an optional xtra ...!?
Can't really recommend the Amarok as a family car when it doesn't have rear airbags.
That's how much you know about cars.
The Amarok has No rear seat airbags. I'm not willing to place My family in danger of a side impact to the head.
The real question is.. why aren't there rear seat airbags? VW certainly has the technical knowledge, just look at how good the no low range auto is off road.
amaroks spend more time in the dealer’s shop than on the road... very unreliable...
My Rok hasn’t. Needs a lift though because the bash plates keep getting hammered.
So where is the DMAX
I think people are sometimes mislead by resale value. If a Hilux costs say $7k more new than another brand, then you would expect $7k more resale value when 5 years old.
Correct mate. Ranger and Hilux now have cult like groupie followers. They drank the kool-aid...
This is the problem with using a % as the guide to resale. If you buy something 10k cheaper you can have a lot lower resale % and still be a lot better off in $'s term at resale time.
We sell our 10 year old Hiluxs with 400k on them for $15k. Couldn’t give away anything else.
@@bethoughtprovoking this is why I'm picking up the isuzu dmax either today or tomorrow. It's got the same motor as the 4ton truck.
Popey squirrel Thumbs up, dude!
You forgot to mention Amaroks totally insane servicing costs.
Triton for me.
Yeah not really, I own one and services cost me the same as my brother who has a triton. And also I don't have to fix my gearbox every 100km when third gear pops out
Just bought amarok with 3year free servicing. None of the others do that
I just went and drove all of the utes on the market and really I think the top 2 now are the PX3 Ranger and Mitsi Triton.
I thought the Challenger is a fancy Triton wagon
Trigger Time Challenger is the old name that I don’t think is used anywhere now.
Pajero Sport is the new name since 2015.
Why is the Hilux that bad on value for money?
@@lilnips spec for spec the Hilux was over 8k dearer then my D Max , wheeled it straight into ARB and then later threw wheels and tyres at . it .

You never mention after sales service. Based on that, Triton and Hi Lux are the only two left standing!
Been driving Triton 3.2 since 2010,.. getting my second triton 2.4 mivec..
Amarok V6 + chip and downpipe = the best double cab 🔥
To be fair....Amarok and the Colorado haven’t had an “all new” model since the inception of the current model.
Next gen amarok will be next level
Next gen Amarok will be next gen problems.
@@MrTimstaaa You can say that with any car these days, no matter the brand or model. Overall the past Amarok's have had far less issues then most of the other brands, but it does cost slightly more. Guess you get what you pay for
Amarok will always be the worst selling ute in Australia and there is a reason.
I have a 2016 Triton, I do a lot of 4wding and I love the car BUT!!!! the warranty and after sales service here in Frankston in Melbourne is absolutely horrendous, I took it to some tracks that were a little bit more than just a dirt rd and went through a large puddle that was only about 800 ml deep and got some mud in the alternator bearing, I took it in to be fixed under warranty and was told quite firmly that it wouldn't be covered by any warranty because I took it off road and went deeper than 600 ml in water!!!!!!!, since then I dont have a warranty on a car a week after I brought it. so I guess buyer beware of the warranty pitfalls.....
how is that cheap for the triton? i got my wildtrak brand new with tech pack for 55k drive away
@@Bembo985 na mate he was absolutely bang on with everything he said. 100%

I will still test drive the Volkswagen V6 but a VF SSV Redline 6.2 LS3V8 Wagon I think will win my decision.
Good Choice! ;)
@Mr. Cairo New yes,not many. Second hand low K's great buys a plenty.
Douche!
Some people you just can’t get the bogan out of them no matter what.
@@jamesmay3863 Thank goodness for that. Like Sarah Hanson Young & Penny Wong can't get the bogan out of Fraser Anning and the nationalistic patriots being the vast silent and growing majority. Ha Ha
Good question is when I have the family car what sort of dual cab ute can be selected?? Haven't try new 2.0 bi trobo ranger, but definitely not Holden
Volkswagen has a truck?
The reviewer lost me at the comments regarding the Colorado. I have just driven one for several hundred kilometers and it was not a positive experience. Driveline shudder, noisy, mismatching trim and an interior that a 3 year old could have designed better. Topped off with plastics and buttons that are better suited on a cheap Chinese toy. How the reviewer could say anything positive is beyond me.
RANGER OR TRITON for the win, Biased review when it comes to the hilux
@guy proulx With truck purchases too yes
Ricky Dalisay yes, he is extremely biased to the hilux and not to the triton
@guy proulx Every year in the first day of January CIA publish its "submarine"jobs for people like you and me to know their "efforts to the free democratic word. Can you catch it now?
fukthegoog.... what's the world moving on to? Australia certainly isn't, Hilux has been the best selling vehicle 3 years in a row, and looks like a 4th year coming up for 2019!! Not to mention its been the top selling 4x4 for decades bar 2017. So what is the world moving on to?
@guy proulx Try harder, they call it thinking. To make it easier for you,a war sponsor provides all of the weaponry
The isuzu dmax ???
No rear bags mean not a family vehicle. I wouldn't risk.
What about isuzu dmax ? Im looking at getting one some time next year
D Max matches the Hilux for resale and isn't a hand grenade !
This is obviously not a reliability contest
Up the dmax
It’s also better off road, and faster on road 🤓
Would love a review like this ones but here in USA with all the competitive small trucks!!!!. No one does it here!!!
Mitsubishi is the greatest the best and awesome very good driving in highway and cross country , the king of Dakar rally champion
Triton is best
Triton is good
quite possibly the worst review ever.
Why the hilux is so expensive? And its not so comfortable like the other 7utes, it also failed in some test, offroad its also not so good. Is it obly for the name? Not that i don't like the hilux, but u just ask a question!!!
Kishan Mahabier the hilux’s price tag is a joke
Not worth a cent over 49k in my opinion
Comes with the least kit out of all the utes, engines gutless
Because knuckleheaded Aussies still think the Hilux is the best option for a ute even though 5 minutes in one clearly shows this to not be the case, and hasn't been since the 'new' Ranger was released in 2011.
@@JamesyMusial14 agree with you, but there still some stupid people all over the world who thinks the hilux is the best, and the other 7 are worthless!! The hilux is just a money making factor for toyota!!
@@MarmiteTheDog not just aussies, there are many people all over the world who think that the hilux is best.....if
@@kishankish5438 True, but this is the Aussie market we are talking about and the fact that Knuckleheads make up a significant portion of the Aussie population.
How's the resale on the Hill going now knowing that Toyota lied to consumers about the DPF problem. Aren't Hilux, Misfortuna and Prado 2.8l powered owners entitled to a $10,500 rebate?
Did this guy take his official Toyota top off before filming the review?
Ok great. .so what would you say come in at second place?
Leo Esposito it’s almost like they did that last bit in order, so ranger 2nd Colorado 3rd?
59k is cheap really dude.
Each to they're own , buy what you want to NOT what others suggest. We all work for our money so we buy what we choose to.
Yhis guys outlook on these cars is from his comments , we dont all think the same , we dont all act the same
"To each their own"
Question is, which one of these will you pick if you're serious about off-roading?
Hammer Rocks Hilux!
Dmax
Triton
Who’s paying you? Triton kicks ass.
2019 and the video quality is still sub par. Are you using bad lenses and camera equipment? I suggest investing on 4K cameras like from Sony or Panasonic.
Technically this argument is non in void .. you haven’t tested the off road capabilities and or loaded the utes up nor have you done a proper economic drive (reading lines or there “stats” don’t count). Nor did you have a drag.
Volkswagen amarok is biggest engine but expansive to repair and maintenance better Mitsubishi Triton for speeding on highway long distance adventure
this guy is a hi lux fanatic
This guy seems like the biggest flog, spouting the worst descriptive words thats even a 5 year old could better replace to actually help people understand whats being talked about.
Ranger is still great value just picked up XLS with tech pack for $39500 drive away did look at Triton but that small motor scared me off as I will be doing a lot of towing .
Your asshole ranger has the smaller engine by the line up.hak hak hak....open up ur hood and check it out .mark my word ur ranger wont last at five year old ur clutch will b ur problem...
The triton smokes them all
It smoke because of SUA issue and blown the engine
Do the same test when pooring down with rain. No one does it. Only 2 utes that can handle that, Amarok and Triton with AWD.
Wheres the Dmax
So what is the highest speced Triton that keeps the manual?
On the Mitsubishi Australia website, it appears the only spec you can't get in manual in is the top GLS Premium. The GLS and GLX+ both come in manual, but only the GLS and GLS Premium get Super Select II 4WD. The GLX+ gets the Easy Select part time 4WD system.
D-MAX?
I have a hilux and a triton and my friend has a colorado 2020 and honestly we all agree that the hilux sucks.
Off road the hilus goes down like a kart full of bricks, the triton and colorado sometime too slow .
Hilux gets bogged everytimes. I am happier with the triton for everything but towing.
I use the hilux only for towing.
The ranger is gutless and honestly if you do anything else than driving around any of these cars sucks unless you change the suspensions and stuff.
This guy clearly is reviewing by preferences.
My all time favourite is the dmax or bt50 but covid made them hard to order.
Triton anyway....
Wading Depth?
Hilux for me always
Always? Even if a better value for money and performance truck (like the 2019 Triton) comes out? Sounds like you drank the kool-aid mate.
Because all the mates have a Hilux 👀 ?
Id just love one video of these in soft beach sand. People wanting a 4x4 ute don't care if it drives like a commodore in the city, show me how she does on soft beach sand so I can pick what to buy.
V6?, I currently own the very breakable Hilux SR5, many many problems, airbags aren’t the be all end all, still bigger then most cars on the road
@@shawsie5780 4 banger, I've had endless dramas with my one and the build quality of the interior is horrible.
The glue let's go from the blistering Aussie heat. Door cards pull apart, and rattle like crazy. The interior looks bland and boring as well. Reminds me of the inside of a VS commodore.
EGR/DPF issues drove me insane over xmas. Cost me over 6k to get it sorted. Boost pressure solenoids have gone multiple times on mine.
I've had plenty of hilux's (pre 2013) and they have been a dream compared to this. I'm sure even thou the new hilux's are troublesome they aren't as bad as the Amacock...
On the plus side it's more reliable than the Navara... But not by much.
Vijay Sharma depends how you treat it my 2013 Amarok 150 k no problems I’m a tradie although every ones entitled to an opinion
@@mickwinterbine559 Absolutely true, unfortunately mine is at 99k KMs and has been looked after very well and yet it still has a constant engine light that cannot go away regardless of the fact that everything that was broken is now fixed. yes I do take it off road and camping a few times a year and I also do long distance trips regularly like Sydney to Brisbane however it gets serviced before it's 15k every time and spends more time at the workshop than it does in my garage.
Vijay Sharma fair enough mate
it's a simple test really. which one has permanent all-wheel drive? done.
great review style.
Triton Handling very good, performance very good
Should be test driving these cars on this segment, with one tonne on their backs and a two tonne trailer. These cars seem to be show pony's for domestic use more then how a ute should really be .
*ponies more *than
