The Mitsubishi Triton is a good-value ute availabe with a 2.4-litre turbo Diesel engine. This orange Triton is the GSR model, which sits at the top of the range. Were we wrong about this Hilux rival? John Law takes the 2023 Triton GSR ute off-road to find out.

A lot of these new vehicles have problems is there any chance of getting how many warranty issues, like turbo issues in one brand or transmission problems might be common in another brand.

I've taken my Triton through the Simpson and do beach driving pretty much every weekend, as an older driver I'm so happy with my Triton. Someone called it "the poor man's ute" I say, hell yeah. Don't want to spend 100k on a car while still paying off my properties. I'm a happy Triton owner. Getting stuck on these reviews is not a good idea.
Same here (though no Simpson desert so far but plenty of beach driving). Really happy with my glxr 2021 & I am not kind to it.

I've had my ML Triton for 9yrs best car I've ever had and I've been driving for over 50yrs and have had all tyres of cars including WRX
Mitsubishi has been strapped for cash for a while and stays with a basic design for longer than some.
Mitsubishis diesel engines are generally very reliable and they use their excellent very versitile Super Select option, Aisan transmission the same brand of super reliable autos used in Land Cruisers, Patrols, Isuzu, and Isuzu based Mazda models, and the Triton like the long running and often underated Pajero have a real transmission cooler unlike say....a Ranger with the Ford modified (read reduced price) problematic ZF auto that seriously needs a good aftermarket cooler to prevent going into limp mode when towing heavier vans and trailers on warmer days.
The 2.3 diesel is known to be generally quite reliable if serviced regularly as was the long running 3.2 in the Pajero and earlier Tritons.
The turning circle for the Tritons shorter wheel base is quite poor.
And the shorter wheel base does them no favours when towing larger heavier vans/trailers.
The interior space is not really enough for taller drivers, ie transmission console is very close to left leg and they feel squeezier than other utes, particularly the very competively priced and well built wide cabin Sassong Musso or the GWM that beat the Triton on price and standard features.
Having said that the top selling Rangers ( transmissions and low mileage engine failures, turbo failures) and Hiluxes (catalytic converters, injectors) have had their problems with reliability , including the hefty fines given to Toyota in the group action lawsuit over the 2.8 Diesel problems.
Some vehicle reviews are not so honest, due to beholden to manufacturers influence for a variety of reasons, however this one appears fairly well on the money IMO !

I'm a dairy farmer in the Coorong SA, we've had a 2000 and 2015. Very happy with them both, although the 2000 is tough as, never skipped a beat
We have had a new GSR for 6 months, its the only 4WD you can change to 4WD on the move when conditions go bad, its also the only 4WD you can drive on pavement in 4WD. I dont need a digital speedo because I'm not 12 years old. Was 20 k cheaper as well.
Well said. It seems some testers are entranced by additions that "Mr. average" will never use or want.

I bought my Triton because of its reliability and abilities, the added bonus it was 15k cheaper
The VW Amarok with the 8speed Auto is permanent 4WD.

I don’t think faulting Mitsubishi for using a 16 year old vehicle engineering design is bad, that actually makes the case that the design was great and has gone on to prove itself.
That’s like calling a still standing 100 year old house bad, some things just prevail. It means the fundamentals of the design are iron clad, overall that’s the best outcome.
The interior is exactly as it should be. Everything you need, nothing that you don't. Touch screens don't belong in offroad vehicles. Heat, dust and corrugations kill them in the end.
It's a workhorse, not a fashion accessory
Your mega test is the only one putting it last. Every 4wd reviewer, and 4wd channel worth their salt, puts it top 3. So either everyone else is wrong, or you don't know enough about what makes a good 4wd ute
He's spoilt for choice and really too young to know what real men want out of a ute. Not to mention tied hands by their sponsors
@@MotoRidesVietnam true. I used to be swayed by a badge, but now I look for usability, value, and support. Sure, each ute does some of those better than others, but pushing the narrative of "hilux is best" purely because of that badge is pointless. And for the record I do like the hilux, just can't justify 70k+ on something I'm going to scratch to bits

I still can't bring myself to buy a Ford. I've found the comment sections on dual cab videos the best place for an overall good value opinion and the general opinion is the Triton is the pick of them all!!! There's loads of ford or previous Ford owners with bad stories and the same can't be said with Triton ownership. I think that says more than any video out there
@@MotoRidesVietnam I'll back those claims. Have had 2 fords. First one had total Body Control Module failure (controls the traction control and airbags etc) and the second had dpf and manifold failure
I just bought one of these. Had a 2020 hilux before that and the triton rides a lot better. He's right on a lack of storage in car but it's far more comfortable than the hilux I had. It drives great, is responsive when I put my foot down and is very easy when both driving around town and cruising on the highway. Can't recommend it enough.
Having driven the Hilux and the Triton, I bought the GLS Triton. It was an easy choice. Cheaper and better in every way. I find the GLS seats to be exceptionally comfortable for long 10 hour drives. The Hilux seats are hard and a weird shape for humans. For the most competent 4WD straight out of the showroom, you can't go past the Triton. Combined 4WD and highway I average 9.5 L/Kilometre. Nothing else comes close. It's just my wife and I so no kids. The looks of the interior instruments etc play no part in my decision making. Oh, by the way, the Ranger? You're not serious! I don't need, or want, to be stranded out in the backblocks.
I checked one out yesterday against a Navara and Ranger. The Triton is definitely nice and so far top of my list.
And I bet your dpf hasn't blocked up either
The ranger was a weird comparison in the video... I never wanted to spend the best part of 100k on a ute, the triton for the price is very good imo
I own 2019 MR Manuel I get at my worst 8.5 litres usually sits around 7.8 to 8.2 litres.
Facts first, tritons are the most reliable in the dual cab ute and that is the most important aspect, you dont want to your work vehicle in the workshop all the time.
In addition to that it is the easiest vehicle by far for a mechanic to service and repair.
I think the current generation of buyers are looking for bells and whistles that explains everything else.
The ranger definately seems more like a status symbol car where I'm living

Why is it the easiest to service?
The location of the major components like the turbo is in a very easy to access place. Relatively lots of room in the engine bay and access even to the rear of the engine is decent. Too bad the alternator sits fairly low down.
I love my Triton - pre covid picked up a GLS premium for $46k. The equivalent Hilux at the time was $65k! Agree the interior is a bit dated but it does everything well without being ostentatious. I’ve driven a lot of newer cars & utes and honestly, much of that newer tech you’ll not use at best or at worst, interferes with your driving experience. Having a car / Ute try and steer itself is unnerving & downright dangerous in some situations!
Final point is that the Superselect II transfer case is way ahead of its time & its rivals! Do none of these reviewers ever wonder why the next generation ford ranger has copied it?!?
does the new ford ranger 4A use a center diff like SuperSelect or just some sort of clutch plates like the previous gen everest?
Rather have the option of 4wd on hard surfaces (especially in icey or wet conditions) than some half arsed safety tech features - adaptive cruise, lane assist or a digital speedo ffs.

You can't say the seats a very uncomfortable. You could say that they feel uncomfortable for YOU. I purchased a new GSR about 12 months ago and one of the reasons I chose it was that for ME, the seats in the Triton were vastly more comfortable than the other dual cabs on offer. You need to qualify your statements. Who needs a digital speedo? I have driven vehicles 20 years ago with digital speedos, I hated them then and still hate them. The old 'needle' is much more intuitive to glance at and read quickly. My Triton is much more comfortable to drive on or off-road than a current model Hilux. As far as a Ranger goes - do you really want to pay such a huge price premium over a Triton for a vehicle that has such a poor reliability reputation? Here is some homework for you - research how many Rangers have had their engines replaced over the last three - four years, compared with the Triton... The Triton has the best reliability reputation of most of the other dual cabs, with the possible exception of the D-Max. This is backed up by a Ten-Year warranty... I have owned 2 Hiluxes, one Nissan and three Tritons. The Tritons have given me the best run of any of them. The ability to engage four-wheel-drive, on the go, on bitumen, makes it a very sensible, safe and practical vehicle.
Amen I can not wait for 2024 6th gen to start rolling. I hope bit turbo doesn't complicate things.
Bought myself one of those GSRs and I love it. 90% of it's driving is on the highway, or off road, and while the suspension is a bit firm, it leaves me feeling like it's secure and solid on the road. The 4WD with the unlocked center diff is great for driving in tropical rain (I live in the Top End). I love the look and feel of the interior, but I will admit, with my old eyes, I can't read the clock on the touch screen, and the writing on the steering wheel buttons, since it's too small and dim. I don't have that problem in my work van.
I'm not sure how you keep comparing it to the other utes since, when I ordered mine at the end of last year, the BT50s and Dmaxs were about 10 grand more expensive, while the Hilux and Rangers were about 15 grand. Pretty sure I can do a hell of a lot aftermarket upgrades for that kind of money. We also took the BT50 for a test drive (the only other vehicle available at the time to test drive) before testing the Triton, and the Triton was a MUCH nicer ride. The Mazda felt like a work ute, whereas the Triton felt like a fun ute. It's not the perfect car, but for it's price, and my use case (camping/ rockclimbing with my mates) I reckon it's unbeatable.

Suggestion for part of your criteria:
Proven reliability.
Customer satisfaction.
Issues per capita.
Test drove all models of dual cab. None of them really wowed me over the other. Hilux and Ranger just felt as ordinary as any other ute even though they always score high. Ended up with the Triton in the end for work duties and camping. Set of Bilsteins, springs and muddys and it goes anywhere. 12ht 60 series for the tough stuff. You buy Hilux for the dealer network, other than that just deal with the recalls like the rest of the other manufacturers.

And as for the dmax being comparable, sure, if you go base spec and want to wait a year. Dmax were going for 75K plus on roads when I was looking a month ago, and that wasn't even top spec!
I respect you guys for having another look at the triton and to be honest, I don't really give a shit if you like it or not. But the thing with any car, is it's a matter of opinion. What suits you, might not suit me, and vice versa. Overall, I think the Triton is pretty damn good, which is why I bought one. It's not the best ute out there, but it's almost perfect for what I want in a vehicle. And it's not gonna sting me 20k extra like the new ranger would.
Don't make comments on rear kids seating unless you've gone through it. I have three kids and no issues in the triton or a cx-5 for that matter. You may need slim line car seats to make it work. You need to do more than just drive the car to make a review.
To be honest this guy doesn’t know the difference between a soft tonneau cover and a roll top. Of course the front will feel like rubbish when driving there is a bull bar slapped on with out upgrading the front springs. These were a much better value option pre-Covid, especially if you bought a GLS.
Bought a Triton GLX-R for $42k in Feb 2022. Awesome car with a 10 year warranty. Can’t go wrong. Why would you pay $60k for a base hilux. As for your review, who gives a f about a digital speedo……. Rubbish review
Really happy with my glxr 2021 & I am not kind to it. The dealer toneau and liner were crap but the car itself is awesome. Off road on beaches its great, pulls my 8.5m 3tonne boat easily, even on the ramp when there is a heap of water behind the bung.
40k kms and the seat is starting to wear and has a small hole at the point you slide in and out.
Had Sangyong not been in receivership at the time (as that is a great car also) I would have possibly purchased the musso but was unsure of the dealer service support at the time.
There is no problem with baby seats in the triton.
A full tank in the GLXR tells me I will get about 900kms out of it but I never get even close to 800. There is nothing wrong with its on road performance, cruising at 140kmh at around 2000rpm is easy for rhe triton.
Getting the spare wheel off is a pain for rhe triton (as it is in most utes) and the jack lever pole is poor quality (bends) get an aftermarket jack pole.
I have taken the side adjustment of my seats now, and put a cap on it, much better to use now.

Have the UK top spec version of the Triton (L200 Barbarian X). For me the seats are the most comfortable of any car I have owned - super comfy on a 4 hour drive. As regards it being old school and behind the latest on safety, the ability to drive in 4H on tarmac roads is a significant safety feature for driving in bad weather or road conditions and is still unmatched by most competitors.
I bought a 2020 Fiat Fullback, a rebadged MQ Triton. It's even older and more basic than this MR. The plastics are hard and scratchy, and the infotainment is laughably bad. But it has everything you need, and nothing you don't. It's rugged, reliable, great off-road, good value, comfortable (the seats are great, nothing wrong with them). It's light for a dual-cab, compact and manoeuvrable, doesn't have any of the annoying active safety measures, but has 7 airbags and excellent crash performance. The Super-Select system and the ability to switch to all-wheel drive with a viscous centre diff on slippery tar is a huge boon. I'm very happy, and I saved over a third of the price over an equivalent Hi-Lux.
They just a reliable vehicle look at the problems the Ford ranger has. Why don't testing talk about reliability.
Short term tests don't consider the realities of actual ownership, just the "toys" ( technology).

What problems does Ranger have?
@@xpusostomos egr coolant dump failures for the 3.2 and piston failures for ones running higher rail pressures. 2.0 have primarily 10 speed gearbox issues which ford are engaged in a class action suit. But the main issue is the way ford have been treating their customers using major hardware failure as another route to price gouge their loyal customers and sending them a 15-20k bill for engine replacement.

Rate the Triton, value for money, reliable, capable. It seems though reviewing cars these days is more or less based on the safety equipment they come with otherwise you wouldn’t be able to split them apart other then engine performance / trimmings?
Well thousands of Triton owners can’t be wrong. When your on a good thing stick to it.
I work on utes for a living , the Triton is up there with the best of them , very reliable...

I've had my GSR for almost 12 months and 20k km. All said and done I'd buy it again. Much cheaper than rivals, very reliable, does what I expect from a duel cab. Comparing the triton to modern SUV was lost on me, I was never looking at buying an SUV, I was looking at DC utes. Coming from an older 2012 Hilux, the GSR is a nice ute to drive, easy to live with every day and haul the family. It's not perfect though, adaptive cruise would be nice, I wish the roof mounted air vents were proper aircon instead of a fan and that the windows were all auto up/down. Also would like the inside of the drivers door to be padded as I rest my arm there when driving, but these are rather small things. O and I ave around 9.0L per 100, so not sure how U got 11??! Cheers.
Tritons are a bulletproof work Ute and super capable off-road , if people want frills go buy a luxury sedan or a Ranger 😂🍻
I recently bought a triton. But have driven a raptor quite a lot on suburban roads and found the raptor horrible. Slow and boaty and the interior is just full of cheap plastic with a some bad leather trim as well. You seem to hold the raptor as a far better ute than it is. That's not to mention it's known faults of blowing gearboxes and engines

Get the Triton, use the left over money for fuel and luxury family holiday to Bali. You get your toy and save your marriage, a win-win.
Harden up. Nothing is wrong with an old school ute. Actually, my 2021 Triton Black Edition has a better ride than my wife's 2022 Outlander PHEV. It is also better than my older 2015 Holden Colorado. The 4X4 system is one of the best.

I paid $36,000 drive way for my 2019 MR GLX + Manual, had it over 2 years now, no issues at all.

Had my MR 2022 GLX+ auto for nearly 12mths and love it. I'll never go back to the Ranger (had a Wildtrack). Unfortunately I paid slightly more than you did...$36000 is a great price.
I have been getting 8l/100km towing.
My brakes have been fine even while towing, not sure if you know how to tow correctly but they have never been hot. Plus I used mine as a sweeper during WRC

Hello buddy, the one thing that I'm noticed between utes in Australia and the utes in my country is how the tcs react. For example the Mitsubishi triton and the isuzu dmax (except for the highest variant) didn't have the rear difflock in my country but the tcs system in my country is more sensitive and aggressive than ones at the Australia especially the dmax which is the worst of the Australian utes according to the Australian TH-cam channel but in my country the dmax tcs is good as the nissan navara and the previous ford ranger while the triton nearly as same like Toyota Hilux. I wonder why there's a difference between the country in the terms of tcs software.
Who wants a safety kit in a 4x4 ute? Practically nobody. Although I am sure somebody will tell me I am wrong. But most blokes turn those functions off whenever they can. Maybe adaptive cruise control is good but things like change lanes corrections and warnings are just all BS and depart from ones ability to drive.
Why not review the Sangyong Musso?
Was going to say this, Why I am favoring l200/Triton over others that it has Super Select II, on bitumen with heavy rain, 2wd vs 4wd shows it self. All time 4wd is way much more important than those party-trick safety kits.

My only complaints with my 2019 GLS is the off centre driving position & that the stock rear suspension gets unsettled easily on roads that are littered with potholes & poor repairs at 60kph+
The baby seat issue isn’t solely a Triton problem, it’s a dual cab problem in general.
The screen being “too small” & no digital speedo is nit-picking. It’s a 4WD Ute, not a sports or luxury car.

whats your opinion of the Triton Xtreme (Mitsi Aus and Walkinshaw) thats due for June/July Release this year (2023) gets forged 18" x 8.5 ET 17 bf goodrich 265/60R18 K02s upgraded "premium suspension" eg upgraded 46mm monotube dampers with 20mm rod design with canisters and rear running a piggyback system chassis upgrade body control and ride comfort improvements increased handling dynamics?
We have a Mr Triton done 120k kms can't fault it never let me down

I agree with the original verdict in the Mega Test. Not everybody is going to like that response especially if you are a in camp Mitsubishi but it does change that objective outcome and the final verdict or placing the Triton received. Subjectively, based on the use case of the Triton and the individual there is wiggle room for what you could tolerate or deem as acceptable when it comes to parting with 60k initially and how you double down on that thought process the longer you own the vehicle. Triton in lower trim is acceptable even desirable because it has that value proposition which it has always had as its main justification (not as good as X or this system feels more compromised than Y but it has so much to offer on a value front). I have been in camp VW and Toyota and when some says Amarok's are objectively less safe due to no rear airbags I say yes that's true what an incompetent oversight or when some says the Hilux is boring or expensive comparatively I also agree. Basically Tritons weaknesses are what gives it one of its most compelling strengths.

I really love Triton with the design and the affordable price but unlucky I had to get the Hilux Workmate 4x4 because I need a new car for work badly. Hilux and Ford are way too overprice

A rear locking diff seems to be a must for going off road. I wouldn’t buy a Ute without one.
I don't know about a must. It's certainly a nice to have. Pretty rare that it's lack will totally halt progress.
I’m not too worried about how dim the Screen is because I’m getting tints on my new Triton.
Please review the GWM cannon too.
Just go to 4WD 24/7 if you want a better view on the triton.
Thanks CC for the follow up report - I drive a Hilux but always had a soft spot for the Triton - I simply had more Aussie $’s for the Toyota - I presume the next Gen Triton will be a rebadged Nissan Navara or will it be the other way especially now with the FordRanger/VW Amarok releases? Ford may still have issues with the V6 and we all now about their transmission failures.
Mitsubishi is leading the pickup development on the Triton/Navara pair up

Bang for buck the Triton wins hands down! If you want all the new tech and gruntier engine options etc, you'll spend a shit load more than what a Triton costs! Lastly, very wordy review mate, I did almost give up listening several times while watching this review.
Dunno if these guys have actually driven an old L200 or Hilux LN106 for them to say that the interior is too old-school. And hell naw I wouldn't even dare to think the new Ranger is the benchmark of interiors just because of all those unnecessary tech, maybe of being problematic then I'd agree as there are now a number of the new Ranger owners here in our country experiencing problems with that big multimedia screen. Physical buttons with a decent 8-10 inch landscape multimedia over that of the Ranger's. I'd say the BT-50 is the one better if we're to find a competitor of this with a more modern interior. Despite the cabin still being based on the D-Max, it is undeniable how it feels night and day kind of difference on how exquisite the BT-50 interior is. At the end of the day, the overall package of the Triton is much better for those who plan to keep their utes for many good years as you'll be assured of worry-free ownership due to its proven reliability & dependability together with outstanding off-road capabilities the Super Select 4WD has.

So glad you made this video. Saved me spending 18 mins of my life looking at one at a dealership to know how old and overpriced it is? 60k. You got to be kidding. Its 2015 technology and styling. the Interior is like an old Magna, If it was a LDV you would have kicked it for touch.
Put your test with the Ford ranger, Toyota Hilux, Nissan navara, Isuzu D-MAX Mazda BT 50, Volkswagen amarok, Chevrolet Colorado, Mercedes benz all participate in rally championship onroad and offroad Australia from east to western Australia endurance the winner is the best pickup the greatest champion,sure Mitsubishi Triton is the king champion ,all Utes pickup trucks cannot challenge the Mitsubishi in the highway gravel sand when comes on speeding and handling even the good Ford raptor also loose
i just had two mates buy ford ranger 2ltr, ones on 4th recall and the other its 3rd recall both have blown several turbo hoses and overheated towing camper trailers in WA
Stick to reviewing cars, the triton is excellent value for money. Very reliable. It’s not an mx5 and shouldn’t be reviewed as such.
20k cheaper, 4wd on a road, does the job as a 4x4 ute, this dude reviewing is a bit clueless

I was looking at getting a 23 wildtrak 2.0 here in Vietnam then checked out a Navara Pro 4x & Triton Athlete yesterday.
The Triton seemed like the pick of them so far.
I'm not sure I want a 10spd gearbox offered by Ford 🤔 plus I've been reading about so many issues with them!
The Triton here is 2.4 diesel, 6 speed auto, 181kw/430nM. Has the super select shift and paddles. It comes with a few extras as stock like the flares, side steps, fibre glass sports bar. Trim colour threw me off at first but I ride a KTM dirtbike so it kind of matches 😂
I think they throw all these extras on as 'stock' so they can match the price point of competition but still have it a bit lower. Seems they sell for less in Oz?
It's $60,700 AUD where as the 2.0 Wildtrak is about 6k extra.
There's no breakdown assistance service here and breaking down over failing electrics worries me as I'd have to put my car on a tow vehicle and work my own way out back home.
Really want a pick up soon for family adventures (not hard 4x4 but the option is there when the roads go that way) so reliability is the top of my need requirement!
End of the day, it's nice to come to these videos and check the comments for the Triton. I'm seeing far more support for this vehicle and less for others like the Ford, which seems far more indicative of the cars overall than most youtube reviews.

Maybe it should say We were Wrong if this is supposedly one of the worst Ute's around.especially considering it doesn't suffer dpf problems and can be run in 4hi any time
Purchased a new Triton in 2021, 22,000km in and already requiring a new timing belt. Told it's not under warranty and will require $600 to replace. An item that should last up to 100,000km, lasting a fifth of its lifespans and not being covered under warranty on a new car is appalling. Service basically told me it's my problem and if I want it replaced I have to pay for it.
We've mostly moved away from the "covid tax" on cars, but I'm struggling to find the prices you've listed.

I got a 2015 triton it loves getting tossed around it looks like a rig so next time buy a triton 4x4 2015 I’ve got it up in two wheels before I almost flipped it

I wish I saw this review 2 years ago. I've owned my GLS MR triton for 18minths and this review is 100% spot on... It's awesome off road on semi technical terrain. but that's really it's only strong point. Engien is better in the real world than what specs sujest however there is a big ECU lag, turbo lag is ok. Cabin is functional but dull. Seats in the GLS are ok but better than the sH!t leather seats of the GSR (leather seats off road are like sliding down a water slide anyway). Ride comfort is a big step back compared to most modern cars. Steering feel is a bit muted but better than a corolla. Paint is the worst in the history of cars, but it's a shitzubishi, crap paint is their specialty. Tech is annoying, beeps all the time, one day it will kill somebody cos it will randomly automatically brake at 100kph. See 14:50 and listen to the beep beep beep, it's the car about to auto brake. Happens alot. Otherwise i kinda like it...
Great review and I think it shows that the Mitsubishi/Nissan collaboration is probably about 12 months later than it should be. I look forward to the new models as I think they will certainly keep the other competitors honest going forward

They look funny with a well body. The well is too long and odd shaped. They look amazing with a tray though much better lines and far more functional.

Very true, even in 2020 bought my GLS for 48k, where now the price is 51k for the exact same thing. Back in 2020 a new GLS Premium was worth 51k

In our own country (Australia) road safety advocates have been pushing to ban bullbars for years, almost succeeding I have to add, then in NSW the transport minister got involved, fortunately. As a result many styles of bullbars were deemed non compliant, and all new vehicle designed bullbars must comply with pedestrian safety regulations that I think all states agreed on (I think)?
Thank goodness common sense won out. Unfortunately no idea do gooders were getting far too much say.
Bottom line, if you utilise your 4wd in the urbs you don't want/need a bullbar, so don't get one, BUT (you no idea do gooders) don't create stupid laws stopping people whom do need bullbars from getting them. 80% of Australia's outback roads have stock, wildlife rooming freely at will along the same stretch of bitumen/gravel road we traverse along. A bullbar is a necessity in this situation, not a niceitey.
Mine have saved two vehicles from the panel shop, Roos don't fair so well though. Oh, and don't put it out of its misery, as if you're spotted doing so you'll find yourself on court defending animal cruelty charges, lose your case you'll do time.

As an Australian who regularly drives in the bush, I think the cost benefit of bullbars is overrated, since I've never hit a roo or other wildlife. Come close a few times, but no. Might be different if I actually lived in the bush and was driving it every day.

When Reviewing this car, surely a long warranty has to be part of the equation, swaying Ute purchasers. Having the reassurance that anything faulty, especially when towing a caravan, can be replaced or fixed. I want a reliable, safe ute not not a car with all the bells and whistles. Stranded in the outback I want a “basic” easy to service platform. Isn’t that why Toyota has been no 1 in the outback? Utes these days are trying to be all things to all people, for some a simple ute is just what the dr ordered.
I don’t get it. Is it in 4Lo but then talking about REAR diff lock? Front or rear diff locks the axles 100%. Lots of ‘diff locks’ thrown around but with no context. Good vid but confusing to newbies. Centre diff lock sends power to wheels not spinning. Open differential is for normal bitumen driving which all cars have. 4H is open diff on Triton?
Yes that's what 'super select' is open centre 4h then a locked centre 4h and low range. Only on the top 2 specs though.

An old school car for old school people. If reliability and off road ability is your priority then it's for you. If you want it to double as an urban vehicle for a family then look elsewhere for a a more all round piece of kit..
