I'm pretty well over the whole "hold the value" debate. The true value in any vehicle is the experiences you have with it. Load a new vehicle with after market products, you'll never get that money back. Time and time again this very channel has shown that you can take a correctly prepared low budget vehicle to the best parts our great land has to offer the adventurous at heart. If you want a step to the side, choose the Mazda, learn a new platform, truly share new experiences with the consumer. If you want your backyard, just a bit more refreshed, choose the Hilux. Either way, you are Jocko, you are awesome to watch and learn from. Great show young lad 🍻🍻
I've got an MN 2014 and it has done me wonders. Little bit underpowered but had the ecu tuned and now she flys. Bought it off marketplace last year for 19k and had only done 136 on it. 100% would recommend for people who want a good capible ute that isn't too expensive.
I have a 2010 manual mn triton with 200k that I picked up 6 months ago for 14k. Always wanted a hilux but similar year and km models were double the price of the triton (im 21 and simply couldn't afford it). I was hesitant to get a triton at first because of how people in the 4wd community constantly shit on them but I honestly couldn't be happier with it. Tough as nails on the tracks, reliable, comfortable, economical, and its never let me down. I have also never felt as though it is underpowered like Jocko says in this vid.
Grab yourself a triton! The cash you save over the others would go into some pretty decent mods! Jocko is just scared that he might enjoy the dark side too much!
Was thinking the same, I used to have one, never set foot in a Holden parts store only ever Isuzu because it was half the price for the exact same part.
I know right. I have an RG Colorado and even though it’s a different motor, the rest is still an Isuzu which means parts are cheap and interchangeable. Plus my RG push’s a lot of power with just a snorkel and exhaust and the which the motor being very similar to the Silverado motor and even the same as found in some jeeps (after jeep bought out the design) I’m not around about parts plus word from is that they are a pretty reliable motor on par with the 4JJ1.
Love my Triton, 35’s custom made control arms with 3.5” suspension lift/2” body lift (I could actually come down some if I wanted) custom gearing for the 35’s super select box with rear locker and some nice power tweaks such as tune and custom exhaust! (As well as many other mods) It eats everything here in the UK and has taken us touring/off-roading through Europe! Highly recommend
I have a 2011 MN Triton. Have never had any mechanical issues with it whatsoever. They are very capabl;e offroad, mine only has all terrain wheels and it's dont some decent wheeling.
@@simmo6035 well we’ve had stuff through tires before but that’s not the car’s fault, my sister pulled a bit of the side trim off when she was younger, which again isn’t the car. Other than that not really. It’s never had any issues really
Nooooo Jocko, I would've looked at the 3.2 Triton. More cable engine and chassis and way cheaper than an n70...we want to see something else rather than Nissan or Toyota💯🙂
Yes the ML Triton with the 3.2, the MN triton (especially the early ones) are ticking time bombs, the problem with them is a lot worse than what jock mentions in the video, the block has manufacturing defect(which leads to the over heating problems) and Mitsubishi are still replacing them (generally with a long motor) even to this day under good faith warranty if you have one with a good service history. Buyer beware
No i am talking about the MN model, the machining on the block is too coarse, the head gasket doesn't always seal properly, this is where the overheating problem originates from@@gbuzztard
The Toyota, Nissan, Isuzu show continues... It would be great to see more Tritons, Rangers, BT-50s & Navaras on the show. It used to be good seeing Stu's Triton pop up, as well as see the Rangers on every now and again. IFS is what are mostly used and what most people can relate too, so they should be appearing more on the show. The fact of only seeing the usual Toyota, Nissan and Isuzu on the show, is the reason why I've been watching less and less of the episodes. As well as seeing so many out of reach vehicles on, while good to see them, gets pretty repetitive. Do more in the mid range, where most people are, so that they can see what they can get and how things perform.
@@MothyEmms maybe, maybe not. Would just love to see different vehicles as they do good videos, they just seem repetitive due to using the same brands/models.
Mine's a 2010 Triton (Auto) 2 inch lift, bullbar with winch. AT 31" tyres. Daily driver with muddy weekends. Engine rebuild at 300K. Good car. Would love to see a nice specimen joining the Boys to Crofts or the Tele
Parts aren’t really a problem for the Colorado because it is a dmax with a holden badge… your only challenge may be finding cosmetic things like grills and panels. But the guts are interchangeable between the dmax, rc Colorado, ra and ra7 rodeo
@@mikaela7712 lol I tried fiberglas for the first time and made a custom bumper for my 96 S10 to fit some new headlights. The stock ones were way to dim.
I've got a MN Triton and with a 40 mm lift and 265/75/16's I haven't had a problem with it . Just keep your servers up . I'd go anywhere and everything in it just up graded to a 50mm lift bullbar and winch .
End of last year I ended up getting a 2014 triton. It may look like it's from 2005 inside but it's been great so far and surprisingly capable off-road. Downsides i've found are the suspension is a bit all over the shop and also the engine is a bit sluggish (easily fixed with a throttle controller though). If i had to choose again I would definitely still go for the triton, very reliable and capable. It would be great to see more tritons on the show, everyone knows that the hulix can do it. I would love to see if a triton can survive what you guys throw at it and what problems arise from being a cheaper car.
@@howtofixyourtech9945 There is somthing to be said about how simple they are. @@astrixistheman haha gotta agree with you. Some people just reckon that the Falcon interiors are tacky and outdated. When my dad had one I thought it looked really decent and the seats are great. Reason being everyone wants to put xr6 seats in 4 wheel drives now
Go the collie! As a holden colorado owner myself, the 4x4 is great at towing and has endless amount of space. As a manual driver it gets you from A to B in a heartbeat
I have a mate with the Triton, I have a Gen2 Pajero diesel with lockers and reduction gears, he takes his triton everywhere I take the Pajero. Sometimes he is even towing a camper trailer and makes it look easy. My next choice for a 4X4 will be Triton hands down.
My choice would be Triton. For the simple reason that even though your restricted by suspension they can still go anywhere. Great video, can't wait to see what you choose.
@@tom6549 Torsion bars are funny. Even though they don't flex as much they tend to pick wheels up OVER obstacles, often clearing things that stuff like 80 and 100 series cruisers can't... Plus you can buy a much later model much cheaper, but more aftermarket parts, get more power, more reliability and more fuel economy.

Also no proper diff drop kit to get CVs healthy at 3” lift. Also cant put reductions gears in a n70 transfer, also n70 sr doesn’t even have cruise control (povo as fk)
With the other vehicles in the 4wd24/7 stable being Nissan or Toyota, adding another vehicle from those stables would feel a little disappointing? I would love to see what you can do with a BT50 - but your money! I’ll watch either way lol
Go the RC Colorado. Yes the suspension is a bit dated but the reliability is amazing on them engines. Nice to see some different rigs on the channel. Nice vid Mate 👍.
I would love to see a Triton on the channel just purely to see a different Ute being used. Be great to see what you could do with it and something we could look at ourselves. Already heaps of Nissans and Toyota’s go the Triton.
Go a triton, they've got an aftermarket kit from karmann for UCAS and/or diff drop that allow a 3-4 inch lift, and they easily take 35s (many people run them with no issues). Strong driveline and a tune sorts the engine power issue. Love my MN and would love to see one on the channel for inspiration
Would really like the see a colorado on 4wd 24/7. Can’t remember the last time i’d seen one wheeling in one of these videos. But me personally i would get the rc colorado anyday
Go triton, something different for the crew, u guys done a comparison video of all the cars years ago amd triton was third, do something other then a Isuzu and hilux getting abit old
@@nickpresland8956 not from corrosion. Most of the makes tritons, navaras, rangers etc have issues with chassis bending due to overloading and towing heavy camper trailers/caravans etc
I have my 2012 BT50 duel cab on some 33" R/T tyres, winch bar, 12000lb winch, aftermarket front locker, factory rear locker, 3" stainless exhaust and 2" lift. And I can honestly say that my BT50 runs with all the big builds in the 4x4 club. They are so capable and fun to drive with all the basic luxuries you need to drive in style. The BT50 will be my first choice and then the Nissan.
The Triton would be a good watch on this channel, something different than everything else we see day to day on TH-cam. Show us how its done in a Triton brother🤙🏽
People need to start respecting Mitsubishi, they’ve always made great, reliable cars that are good value for money. The only thing that lets them down is their ability to be heavily modified, which is definitely a deal breaker for true off-roaders, but if you need a car for touring etc you can’t beat em
Ive never owned a ute and always had wagons but long before your vid i had a soft spot for the Mazda and this information confirms it for me. Bt50 all the way 😉
I've got the 2014 MN triton, not much done to it, but I've kept up with mates in lifted hiluxs that run a 3 in lift with 35s. And had to recover them afew times too. Loads of power behind the 2.5L TD engine.
Brilliant video! I am on my second Triton L200 here in the uk and your right on with the lack of power and other comments but I live with it being on a limited budget grate for towing and light off road as stock Unfortunately here in the uk they do anything to try to prusude you not have a 4x4 and things like towing mirrors which I have being trying to get hold of for ages are virtually impossible to find. Keep em coming ..
i have just done body lift (this morning started yesterday). on my Pajero gen 2 2.8 td,but yes here in England everyone complains if you have a 4x4.. I still have to work on my mid 90s Delica, welding etc and while there is a cult following as such, and 4x4 groups.... generally not liked who own them lol
I would really love to see a BT-50 build, Everyone is doing Hilux's and 79's and even Rangers to an extent but I agree with the comment about them being underated. Fingers crossed its not another hilux build
Good video mate. A few things i believe are worth mentioning - The bt50 and Ranger commonly split intercooler cores not just hoses, inlet manifolds are 100%plastic, they carbon up very heavily and can split, egr coolers fail fairly commonly also and it is an engine out job to fix, the 6R80 auto trans are notorious for the clutches thumping and shuddering and failing, they are a tough looking rig that ticks alot of boxes but they are mechanically terrible. Also with the RC colorado or the RA rodeo which breifly had the 4JJ1 in its later years (07 & 08) it is actually entirely a TF DMAX, all engine and driveline parts are easily available from ISUZU and are actually cheaper from ISUZU then holden because you are going straight to the source
I picked up my 2017 Triton GLX+ dual cab with 56k kms for $24000. Great base to start with for doing up a weekend tourer and will probably still come out cheaper than a stock high kilometre hilux. Go the Triton Jock! 👌
@@ktmhaka I dont belive that for a second 😲. I was looking at the market for a year and a half, thought i did well for a 2014 for $24k. Though during pandemic i guess. Good snatch mate.
4d56 2.5 DiD is quite solid to me. I drove the Mitsubishi from Brisbane up to Port Douglas with side trips on the dirt and back down to Mt Isa then ended up to NT during my holiday with loose bolts on the camshaft!!!, It survived, the motor is noisy and noticeable vibrations during acceleration then finally we completed the journey, arrived in top end safe, the following day we do check and open the camshaft cover and it shows hanging camshaft clamp! We though that the camshaft bends but its not! I am a big fun of Toyota but Mitsubishi proves tome that it is also reliable and strong engine on the road.
Got a 2016 MQ Triton glx+ as my first personal use 4x4 last year, just on 32" ATs. Was under 30k. I find the electronics pretty cheap and the manual box + the lag is pretty annoying sometimes, especially on extemely long drives, as it feels more underpowered than it is, but a throttle controller and tune solves that easy enough and isn't too expensive. Other than those small negatives, it runs excellent off-road imo and I'm confident it'll tour anywhere I want for the next few years, especially after I upgrade the suspension. I don't do much heavy 4x4ing, because I usually tour alone and pack her full of weight, but I've done a lot of deep sand and steep dunes without any ruts to follow recently and she ran like a dream. Personally, I couldnt justify paying the difference between a cheaper Triton and the more expensive utes for my personal needs and I doubt I'll need to upgrade for a long while yet. The used Triton is more than reliable enough to get me anywhere I want until I feel like something new. Hope this info helps someone.
BT50 easy choice! -Factory rear diff lock on all models -33" fit with no suspension modification -3200kg GVM -3500kg towing -470nm stock -Good value $$$ -Plenty of aftermarket stuff due to the popular sister Ford Ranger
I would go with the Triton. I have a 2013 3.2 Triton Gls that I bought in 2019 for a price way cheaper than any of its counterparts of same age and its been serving me really well either on my daily farm work or out in the trails and off-road events around here in Brazil.
Good video jocko!! I will say I've only ever owned hiluxes 12 in fact!!! But I must say I brought a 2021 ranger and I could not be happier, I am not a extreme 4wder but do heaps of camping, touring mountain hunting and I cannot fault 1 thing with the ranger, I love it 👍
The first 7 minutes is all you need to watch. If you want more than a 2 inch lift you should be going with a car with a solid axle I guess. I’ve got a 07 ML Triton and it’s never let me down
Love these videos from the Jockster, let’s get a bit more of him with these sorts of videos, he’s such a great, honest personality and explains everything so clearly.
The 4M41 is a great reliable engine, my 3.2 has 320 000km on and has never skipped a beat. The 4D56 is far from being unreliable tho and is a great engine aswell economical to, and the problems Jocko mentions isn't nearly as commom as they make it out to be
@@Bekkies17 it’s funny because my nans MJ has the 4d56 as well and has done 380000km but obviously much older. One of my friends has an MN and got unlucky with a dud engine. Thankfully she got a new engine for nothing though.
I love the knowledge you share. My vehicle would be the Triton. We have a 2002 Pajero and doors close easily and have a solid sound, there is over 300,000ks on the clock.
Would go for the Triton. Length in the rear, chop it for a better decent angle, looses a bit of space but. That gearing is sweet so for daily, work, weekend and harder its worth the hassel with the suspension. relatively easy on parts, often good price. And face it, you'll change up all either way. just for the gearbox I would go with the triton to match most boxes
Its crazy to think these utes are pushing 30k at the moment. I bought a brand new 2019 BT 50 Auto with TJM bar and 32 inch tires for 43k drive away (Dual Cab 4x4). Hard to imagine paying 30 k for a 12 year old one pushing 150k plus on the clock. Best second hand ute to buy now is none till the car world calms down a bit. Before covid I seen Tritons and Colorado's like that selling for 15k.
exactly mate, boggles the mind, 30k for these clapped out things is an absolute joke, i'd rather stump up and get a brand new top of the line musso for 45k on the road (i still wouldn't do that, buying new cars is STUPID.. loose too much). Wake me up when the used car market stabilises. 30k should buy you a top of the line dual cab a few years old in mint condition..

I initially got a Triton because I was simply sick of hearing about and seeing Hilux's and cruisers, Not that I hate them but it's always Toyota this Toyota that, gotta be a Toyota. So I got the MN Triton and my family and friends were shocked lol I had the car for 5 years before heading to the dealer and picking up a MQ and another 5 years later and I did it again for an MR GSR, I had no major issues with the previous 2 and the current one is only up to 30,000kms so far so touch wood lol I actually like the 'Decepticon' look of the MR, looks better with the iron man bullbar i got I honestly would love to see something different, doesn't have to be a Triton but anything but a Toyota, I really don't watch this show much anymore because it's all we ever see nowadays
The Triton MR is only impressive in one way to me, they managed to take the ugly as heck MN and make an even uglier replacement in the MR! It takes some real effort to get something like that right!! :)
Hilux very good and reliable, it is the smart choice. Triton bad and unreliable, you can break them by just turning on the engine sometimes my friend said.
BT-50 would be my choice. The draw backs didn't seem as severe as with some of the others and honestly it's a good looking rig with some bar work on it.
i got a 2007 rodeo with the 4jj1 with 238kkms on it for 8 grand, needed new tyres and rego so bump it up to 10k ish bodys in pretty rough nick but so far its going fine, no idea if the RC's have any more tech or a better driveline or anything but i just got it for the engine only trouble ive had was it going into limp due to a what i thought was, bad MAP sensor, turns out the wiring itsself had a dodgy ground or something the auto sparky said he just pulled it out and straigtened it up, screwed her down and its been great ever since
Triton with it’s superior 4wd system is definitely the best option. It’s ridiculous that other brands don’t offer a similar system with the ability to run 4wd hi with locked or unlocked centre diff as conditions dictate.
If it was me and I had choose, I would definitely take the Triton. Mitsubishi has always been the underdog in many people eyes. The Triton Ute/truck/bakkie (in South African terms) can really stand it's own against the likes of toyota, Nissan, Isuzu & Ford and so on. It would be really cool to see a MN Triton in the fleet. Yes it has its issues but is easy fixable with some after markets products. 2' Lift, set of 33's, 50mm body lift, (front lockers optional) and you can go anywhere. Plus you would have some $$$$$$ to kit out the Triton with some very nice aftermarket goody's
MN Triton gets a vote from me. That super select transmission is amazing and the sole reason we upgraded our MN to a MR rather than any of the other options. Other benefits of the MN is that it runs 3.9 diffs in the auto. The MR auto runs 4.27, making what should be a straight forward swap to get better final drive ratios with bigger tyres given the MR is a facelifted MQ/MN/ML in terms of chassis and basic drive line. If the tub is an issue, keep an eye out for a ML tub. Same shape body but the tub is shorter. Downside of a MN could be the “weaker” auto variant that required a de tune to 350Nm and the smaller 245/75r17 tyres if that limits how big you can go.
Mazda bt50 I’ve owned the previous Mazda bravo for 6 years and the bt50 is the way I went and my mate in his 80 series can’t keep up just get a 2” lift 33”tyres and twin lock you will go everywhere
Just had to get the drivers side ac door actuator replaced on my 2013 BT. The bloke who did it used to work for Mazda and said it is/was a very common warranty job even after only 18 months from new. Tried to do the job myself but after many cuts and curses (and nearly breaking my phone screen!) I had to hand it over to the professionals due to it's near impossible accessibility. Only real bonus was that you can get them from Ford over the rip-off price from Mazda. Key thing to note also is that the dash does not need to be removed to do it despite the pain involved. Post warranty, Mazda used to charge around $850. I got it done for $99 plus the replacement actuator for $55. Will get onto the after market trans cooler, thanks for the tip!
I really hope you go for a BT50. I love mine to bits and have had no issues with it! I’ve done a Fraser trip, fitted a new tray and canopy, done suspension lift, spotties, winch. All with no issues or hiccups. I’ll be stocked to see a BT in the convoy if Jocko does get one
N70 all the way, had mine for 6.5years now, brought it with 90,000ks done 245,000. Never let me down, replaced timing belt at 150,000 along with alternator and that's it. Goes everywhere I've ever wanted to go! Some people say it's luck, I say it's Toyota!
I love my N70 hilux. My brother has a Challenger(wagon model of the triton) and I have driven both. I find with the hilux it delivers the power in the more linear way and it is not relying on the turbo as much for normal power. I find the interior of the hilux feels more refined and the seats are more comfortable. I also find the steering wheel in the Challenger is a bit small for my liking. I find the Hilux is a bit more pleasant to live with.
I cannot agree with this more, I’ve owned a triton and I have an N70 now. N70 has power on tap when you push your foot down, my triton used to struggle with power until the turbo kicked in.
@@travisjune9347 on paper or the Dealers lot the triton/Challanger is better. But living with day to day the Hilux wins hands down. Things like the shift knobs and driving stalks are where you would put your hands. Everything seems to make more sense in the hilux. things like being able to properly grip the wheel and use the cruse control.
Coming from an owner of one, the price for N70s now is insane. They're a great car and I love mine, but realistically I wouldn't buy one in this market. Had it for 2 years and it has literally doubled in value. Still love it too much to sell though.

While the RC Colorado 4JJ1 is quite good I do prefer the RG. That 2.8 diesel makes 500nm and it's the same Cummins 2.8 found in the American Colorado so its decently reliable. Dunno if the RC has that same G80 in the back as the RG. It is a locker but an auto locker so it locks up only when it needs to

I would go with the bt50. Price, customization and towing capacity seem to be a little better compaired to the hilux and the triton. I wouldn't go with the triton at all because of the front suspension setup. Between the bt50 and the hilux my deciding factor would be price. Bt50 will save some bucks that you can use for mods.
I had the MQ 2.4 Triton, found it a bit laggy off the line. Maybe a tune would sort that? I find the 3.2 better for low down torque. Also would recommend a rear steel bar with underside protection bars. That long rear overhang gets belted off-road.
The BT50 is seriously a great all rounder Jocko, I absolutely loved mine and never had any major issues and I went in to some of the most remote parts of Papua New Guinea in it (was told multiple times by locals only land cruisers survive some of these areas - only to literally drag out broken down land cruisers!). Hope you convince yourself to get one be great to see something other than the status quo of hilux for you ! Side note - I also note that you seem on the tall side (like me !) and I never felt cramped in the BT had more than enough room for a tall person. I also test drove that same Triton - and man it was cramped and uncomfortable and I could barely change gears. All the best though and looking forward to your decision !
The D40 should receive more credit than given and deserves a relook. The YD25 is bulletproof and has been part of the Nissan stable for two decades. Down here in SA the YD25 remains part of the Navara family due to its reliability in these tough, proofing African conditions.

Tough as nails on the tracks, reliable, comfortable, economical, and its never let me down. I have also never felt as though it is underpowered like Jocko says in this vid.
It's not underpowered at all, it's just a bit sluggish at times
Grab yourself a triton! The cash you save over the others would go into some pretty decent mods!
Jocko is just scared that he might enjoy the dark side too much!

The parts issue won't exist for the rc because it's an Isuzu dmax essentially.. parts are interchangeable between the two
Was thinking the same, I used to have one, never set foot in a Holden parts store only ever Isuzu because it was half the price for the exact same part.
thats pretty much spot on, ive got an ra7 which is the earlier skinned collie, isuzu parts are about half the price of the ones for holden

No it doesn't. You are talking about the 2.5 diesels in the later models.

Triton with it’s superior 4wd system is definitely the best option. It’s ridiculous that other brands don’t offer a similar system with the ability to run 4wd hi with locked or unlocked centre diff as conditions dictate.
new ranger will have it
If it was me and I had choose, I would definitely take the Triton.

They are literally the best dual cab, triton is horrible and unreliable. The only thing that comes close is a Ford ranger
Sell it and get and get into a quicker RC
@@AdmissionGaming tritons are better
@@howtofixyourtech9945 yes they are better at breaking now
@@AdmissionGaming have a think about where the unbreakable Hilux was made and where the shitty new ones are made. The unbreakable Hiluxes were made in Japan where the also unbreakable Honda Civic is made and best of all the Triton! I don’t know where you are coming from with the fact they are unreliable unless you have a friend that drove his into the ground. Japanese utes are far superior than all the other utes that are Taiwanese utes. To be fair the Colorado is good, but the Japanese utes have always been better. Even Jocko who likes Hiluxes the most said it! I would like to hear where you heard that Tritons were unreliable comes from.
You didn't mention anything about catastrophic engine failures from 3.2 motor in the ford and mazda.
Or is that something that is just blown out of proportion?
As soon as the vid started I knew you'd put the Hilux up there even though it's a bit of a dinosaur. A BT50 would be wicked. Better yet, do a hardcore build on some bottom of the barrel utes and test the hell out of them. I'm talking the Foton Tunland, Great Wall, anything of the like, and really show what these budget Chinese rigs are/aren't capable of.
I wouldn’t bother. They just suck
Dont promote Chinese rubbish. I
I Reckon they would surprise a lot of people
Hilux you can't go wrong, I have had mine since brand new 2008 and still going strong.
Out of the three I reckon the BT -50 hands down!
Something different to the Hilux and better looking than the Triton.
I have been a fan of 4wd 24/7 and it is starting to annoy me that the don’t have other brands like Mazda Mitsubishi Ford if it dose not have a Toyota Nissan or a dmax badge then don’t expect to see it here but I will still watch but would love to see a triton or a bt50 and either of them would show up the big name 4x4s
I would like to see you all go for the more uncommon Utes not seen on TH-cam, triton or Mazda and see the build up and how they hold up to the abuse placed on them. we all know the Toyota hold up and that's why everyone has them.
Hey cocko, start looking at the four wheel drive amaroks they have transfer cases.
Would love to see you buy, build and wheel a triton.
While the RC Colorado 4JJ1 is quite good I do prefer the RG. That 2.8 diesel makes 500nm and it's the same Cummins 2.8 found in the American Colorado so its decently reliable. Dunno if the RC has that same G80 in the back as the RG. It is a locker but an auto locker so it locks up only when it needs to
It's not the Cummins 2.8
The rg Colorado's are trash. It's a fiat engine branded as a duramax. They also don't hold their value at all because no one wants one.
2.8L is crap, reknown for blowing piston rings and their transmissions are garbage.
imo the RC and Dmax takes a 💩 on the RG!
Didn't know this thanks for the warnings
@@vanderz1012 if I were you I'd save ya pennies a bit and buy a dmax
Got an Amarok 2 inch lift 33s and other basic supporting mods, goes everywhere others do even with no transfer case, but you can always go a manual that has a low range too! Be good to see you guys go outside the normal
The amarok dosnt get enough love on this channel
@@delman5326 sure doesn't just to the auto not having a transfer case, but if you own one and do some trip in them you soon come to realise how capable they are
In the long run, a VW is going to cost a lot more to own and the aftermarket support isn't there like the others.
@@ExpatonTwoWheels why is that. Servicing cost is the same parts are the same price. Almost no dpf and egr issues. What’s making them dear?
@@delman5326 the info on this channel is only loosely based on facts
Awesome! You guys are probably the best off road channel out there right now. This video like all of yours is just full of raw information taken from YEARS of experience. Spot on
I would go with the bt50. Price, customization and towing capacity seem to be a little better compaired to the hilux and the triton. I wouldn't go with the triton at all because of the front suspension setup. Between the bt50 and the hilux my deciding factor would be price. Bt50 will save some bucks that you can use for mods.
I drive a 2022 BT50 at work and I personally think its over priced.
@@sailingcitrinesunset4065 totally different car
RC 4JJ1. Lack of options pre 2012 for my own inspiration.
I had the MQ 2.4 Triton, found it a bit laggy off the line. Maybe a tune would sort that? I find the 3.2 better for low down torque. Also would recommend a rear steel bar with underside protection bars. That long rear overhang gets belted off-road.
Love to see you modify a Triton. Nothing Frightens a Triton
Go ML model Triton. 4M41 goes alright. The MN you were looking at have a timing belt rather than a chain. Something different.
Literally so over seeing Toyotas and Nissans on every 4wd channel/show.
Would be so cool to see something different for once
Go the triton or the bt-50, would be great to see some variety
Jock y do u refuse to go on the big trips. Boys need your comic relief. Great episode very relevant to the 24/7 audience.
The D40 should receive more credit than given and deserves a relook. The YD25 is bulletproof and has been part of the Nissan stable for two decades. Down here in SA the YD25 remains part of the Navara family due to its reliability in these tough, proofing African conditions.
Personally I would go for the RC Colorado as there aren't a hole lot of builds and you will attract more viewers because of the diverse convoy and parts will never be a problem of its twin the Isuzu dmax and as Colorado owner I would love to see what you could do to one
Had my auto RC almost a year.
So much better than my last ford ph courier.
The 4jj1 is great on fuel and for towing.
Great value, super reliable.
I’ve driven all Utes mentioned.
Triton felt hesitant, d40 turning circle sucks, n70 wasn’t impressive power wise. I’ll never replace my RC
@@c33jp yeah I've had my 2wd RC for about a year and just bought a 4wd version. Only other two vehicles I'd consider over it is a newer Dmax or a lwb GQ/100 series (if money/age of the vehicle wasn't an issue)
End of 2020 I bought a 2005 hilux with 200km on it for 20k w/ rwc. Came with some pretty decent fruit like custom steel tray, bullbar, winch and a 2" lift. Honestly considering the market and what else was available im very happy and its an absolute rig
