There's no shame in crying at the Egon scene. I can't tell you how many people were crying when I saw this film at the theater, including myself. We may have lost Harold Ramis years before, but we finally got a chance to say goodbye to Egon, who can now rest with his actor.
This was perfect! This doesn't need a sequel, it's a perfect end to Ghostbusters. Especially with the "For Harold". I loved that!!😭💜
I mean I'll gladly accept more but I'm also fine if it ended here.
They're more than likely breaking the Ghostbusters into different franchises with their own staff, own personalities, and their own ghost stories.
This is the time for the Extreme Ghostbusters to happen
The 2016 reboot (the film with the female leads) was also dedicated to Harold Ramis, who had died two years earlier. Dedicating "Afterlife" to Ivan would have been Jason's method of paying tribute to his father's work on the first two films.

why would they dedicate a movie to a living person (at the time of the movies release). ..?
I'm 46. Growing up with the original movie, the cartoon, the toys, this one had me losing it. No shame.

i wept so hard when spengler showed up and when his daughter gave him a hug, it got me thinking of my dad and how i'd do anything to at least give him a big hug one more time
10:13 It's a PKE meter. It's original design was created to look for traces of PKE or Psycho Kennetic Energy. It's basically tracks traces of ghost movement that can't be seen by the naked eye. This one was upgraded with a Proton taser. This thing is powerful enough to give some people a heart attack on contact, like it did Egon when he sacrificed himself.

I totally loved it and don't understand why it got so much hate. And Oh! I absolutely cried when Egon showed up. What a touching way to give props to the brand and honor Harold Ramis at the same time. The sequel is set to be released in Dec. 2023. I can't wait.

Just found this...i 100% cried. Very nostalgic for me...i saw the 1st one in the theater when i was a kiddo and 100s of times since.

I have watched this movie like a thousand times and everytime I watch it I still get that feeling of excitement when I watch it.

Looks like you missed a very last after credit scene. I'd go back and do that part if I were you. No spoiler but it looks like it leaves it open for another sequel

Everyone misses the final scenes at the very end of the credits. Go back and watch it - it'll be a big part of the next movie

Great movie. I wish Harold Ramis was still alive to actually play a.part, but they did a great job including him as a ghost.
I didn't understand the kids looking bored during the horror movies playing, I would have been having a blast in that class 😂
They were bored because they dragging through summer school ... No one wants to be there, I thought Dr. Gary Gruberson made that clear enough.

Gozer scared me. R.i.p. Harold Ramis. Dr. Peter Venkman was always my favorite Ghostbuster. It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized Harold Ramis and Dan Aykryod wrote the Ghostbuster films. I've always loved Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver's characters the best from the original film. and I was very excited that Paul Rudd was in this! I have been a huge fan of his ever since I could remember. Antman is my favorite Marvel movies. and the one with the women was funny!! and Melissa McCarthy was in it! I love her! and Chris Hemsworth was in it! and he cracks me up when he is funny. Finn Wolfhard is such a good actor.
the guy that did the body acting for egon was the guy that played the warden in shawshank

I love Paul Rudd too. My favorite movie of his is 200 Cigarettes. I also enjoyed the female Ghostbusters. It was hilarious.

I was surprised when they showed Gozer being a threat, I know she was since the first showed shooting lighting and becoming a giant marshmallow creature. Though here she basically stayed in one form and begun to show off. This movie was awesome.

Sony should not have done that, for creativity's sake. The post-credits scene is meant to close the book on the entire "Ghostbusters" franchise.

I enjoyed Answer the Call. I wish we got a follow-up to that one. Apparently they ignored the second one in this movie, so baby Oscar and the other characters were erased with that movie.
What I don't get is that people completely S*** on the concept of the Junior Ghostbusters from the cartoon (despite only being in two episodes) but they were all cool with the kids in this movie despite only one in four having been given personalities. They ignored the comedic relief, the love interest and the grandson. They had zero character arcs in this movie.

@@nicksaysboo17 yeah. They never bring up Vigo and the timeline only mentions the first fight with Gozer. It sounds like business dried up immediately after and they went out of business then when Egon took off sometime in 84/85.
