    I was an absolute mess from Egon's ghost manifesting to help Phoebe until the end. I still tear up when I watch that scene. They honored Harold Ramis in the best possible way. His ghost is the only one in the series (to my knowledge) to peacefully move on to the afterlife. Quite right too. RIP Harold Ramis.

    One scene gets me everytime. Even when i saw it in theaters the first time, i got this feeling...
    Peters "i knew you´d turn up", Rays "Im sorry, i didnt believe you" and Winstons "Should have called, i missed you my friend" That wasnt just the script, that was Bill, Dan and Ernie saying " Sorry Harold, we should have done this, while we had time!"
    Also a little fact. Jason Reitman did sent the script to Harold Ramis family and only went into production, after his daughter greenlite it. So sweet.

    This is how to make a sequel.
    I was born in 82, grew up with Ghostbusters and had all the toys, wallpaper, bedsheets...
    Afterlife is such a wonderfully made movie, and a beautiful tribute to both the character of Egon, and to Harold Ramis as well.
    I absolutely love this movie.

    I'm so glad you enjoyed Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It's very rare for a third movie in a series of films to be really good. I took my girlfriend to see this on a date a day early before the official release date in a 4XD screening. I won't lie. I was crying after the battle with Gozer was done. I cried not only for Harold Ramis but I was also crying for my own father who passed away when I was very young. I don't have many personal memories of him but I do know for a fact without him I wouldn't be a fan of the original Little Rascals, Star Wars and Ghostbusters. I know for a fact if he was still alive he would have said to me that Hollywood can still make good movies as good as this one. My girlfriend couldn't believe how good the movie was and told me that my good gut feeling over Afterlife was right

    I was surprised that Slimer didn't make an appearance, maybe he could have been living on the farm with Egon or as I saw someone else suggest they could have had him revealed as living in the old firehouse when Winston returns at the end.

    I was 10 when Ghostbusters came out in ‘84 and I was so invested in the characters. I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical with Afterlife until I saw it. That ending made me cry like a 10 year old. Side note: 1984 was just a great year for movies…Ghostbusters, Cannonball Run 2, Indiana Jones, The Karate Kid, Electric Dreams, Footloose, Sixteen Candles, Romancing the Stone, Revenge of the Nerds; just amazing!

    I love how Callie finally says her last name when introducing herself to Peter Venkman. Up until she had found her father's photos of her, she just spoke of him as her father. Now she was proud of him, and she knew that he loved her, so she was glad to have the last name of Spengler.

  • @ronfehr7899
    @ronfehr7899 ปีที่แล้ว

    It was fitting that Egon was the grandfather of Trevor and Phoebe, considering that Harold Ramis was the only one of the original Ghostbusters who had passed away.
    As well, Ivan Reitman, director of the first two movies, has passed away. Not surprisingly, his son Jason directed this one.

    Great reaction!
    They did this one perfectly, and I adore it. The tone was very different, but it needed to be because you didn't have the comedy geniuses of the first and second movies in the leading roles. It was very much an appropriate sequel that honored the great legacy of the originals.
    I think that was the main problem with the 2016 mess. They tried to redo the first one, but with girls and they were going to make it funnier and more sciencey! They brought in Paul Feig, who while not a bad director in general went too much for camp in that movie, and they brought in actors who, while good at their jobs, were unsuited to try to supplant the originals. The script was also very sub par and focused too much on the wrong things. Long conversations of pseudo-scientific gobbledygook instead of the original that just made it seem obvious that they had advanced unidentifiable tech and they had made it work (only in theory at the beginning, but still). It was just bound to fail because it was too unfocused, too over the top, and they wasted some decent actors by trying to make them something they weren't. Avoid it like the plague.

    The main idea behind GHOSTBUSTERS is that it is a joke. But that is what made it good. All the actors, (Bill Murray, especially) played it up as a joke. None of them took it seriously. Even the much maligned female reboot got that. But this movie completely missed the point making it one of the worst sequels I have ever had the displeasure to see. And when Ray said of Spengler (played by the recently deceased Harold Ramis), "I hope he rots in hell". It was maybe the cringiest line in cinematic history. Yeow.

      Disagree. I think it's a brilliant comedy that deals with loneliness, alienation, family, friendship, forgiveness and a tribute to one of the most talented comedic masterminds around.

    • @itt23r
      @itt23r ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Madbandit77 Would you say the same of GHOSTBUSTERS 1 or 2? I'll answer for you. Of course you wouldn't, because let's face it, the central theme of those movies was mindnumbingly stupid (which is exactly what made them fun to watch). Back in the '80s nobody took them seriously, not even the cast. But somehow I guess what was stupid back then has become deadly serious to today's generation. Can't wait to see this director's next project, the tragedy and the triumph of Gilligan's Island perhaps.
