Looking back on this now, Nick predicted the future for Scream 5.
Here’s a little fun fact. The scene where Sydney pulls up in her car at the start was actually filmed in Kellog Park which was only a 14 minute drive from my childhood home. I was shocked when I saw this in theaters and recognized the location. 😂

Jill was supposed to be the daughter of Sydney and Billy which even Jill didn’t know. After the reveal of her being the killer Sydney was supposed to reveal that she was her real mom.

That makes so much more sense and would have been amazing. The twist in 5 learning that Billy had two daughters both a bit psycho would have been perfection honestly.
If I were Sidney and did not want to be seen as a victim, I would release a book and go on a book tour to the place it happened on the anniversary to say, “Hey, I'm not afraid anymore, and I'm not a victim.” It’s not like she knew a killing spree would happen after years of no Ghostface.
Dewey was indeed a snack in this installment.
also, i remember one time my mom and i watched this in the movies and on the way home my mom being like "damn this one felt mean...like this town was just not taking this thing seriously and got destroyed for it. If that one girl died where we lived, there wouldnt be no damn parties after no shit like that!" Clearly she was pissed lol. That was our most fun after movie convo lol
I mean, I understand that it's supposed to reflect how desensitized people are these days, but even in actual society when somebody dies, there's not parties for it.
Then again actual serial killers are now Halloween costumes and consistently glorified so maybe they were right lol
something interesting that I just found out there are two security guards named Anthony and Perkins not only paying homage to Anthony Perkins who played Norman Bates in Psycho but also paying homage to Billy's line in the original scream
About the closet scene: For some dumb reason, Trevor is still hanging around Jill's house when Olivia gets killed. So I would imagine that the cops saw Trevor, not the killer!!
That could be a good, logical explanation!
I still say Judy was the third killer! Why else would jill leave her alive in the hospital! She was the one that tried to kill Gale!

The reason Sidney stayed with the Riley's in the first film is because they thought she would be safer with Dewey around because he's a cop...well we know that ended up not being the case 🤣
Jill’s victim staging deserved awards!
17:06 That's a clue to the second killer. Sidney says it's not a movie then the killer makes a reference to the famous Surrealist film, Andalusian Dog, which had the iconic eye-slitting scene. All of this is to say, 1) the killer is a film buff and 2) the gory death serves as a wake up (literal) call to Sidney saying this isn't a (Surrealist) dream or a movie, this is really happening.
I love 4. My favorite sequel.
2 3 and 4 are good 5 was ok but their not original.....smdh..1 was stupid too but original and you felt it was real and made some sense especially everyone having a party after just 2 murders csuse kids think that's just 1 isolated incident
Woodsboro Medical Center must be the most poorly staffed incompetently ran hospital in the country. Where were the nurses rushing into Sid’s room? When she was unplugged from the machine with her vitals 6 nurses and a doctor would have been in that room in seconds. Especially with someone in the ICU. Also the fact that Jill was able to unplug her self as well without a nurse coming in to check on her.
Every hospital scene in a horror movie is an epic disaster 😂 oh lord!!!
He says "not really" but Gale and Dewey DID work together to find the killers in every movie in one way or another. Gale assumed Dewey would tell her what's going on. Sidney, Dewey and Gale are THE clue that makes the franchise work. They are the "three musketeers". Lol! BUT, I agree that the drama between them in this movie is very silly. It didn't feel right.
Genuinely curious to hear your thoughts on scream 2022. I seem to be in the minority. I felt like they didn’t get the tone right and the writing was a bit weak and felt a little patronizing. The music was great and the cinematography was as well. Sydney, Dewey and Gale were great from what we saw of them, which was v little. Judy Hicls was a nice surprise as well ( again short but sweet ) Also I felt Tara was way more interesting than Sam. Sam had one emotion on her face through the whole film. The killers I thought were one of the weakest aspects. Not because of their motive but they never felt scary, intimidating or charismatic.
As soon as it drops on digital I will have my reaction to it up! Don't worry, I have plenty of thoughts as well

I’ve literally said the Sam thing word for word to other people on TH-cam. Some people argue with me but I agree she literally has no range in it and one face the entire time no matter what’s happening lmaoo
6 was a little better. Still wasn’t a huge fan of it though. Lot of writing problems like 5 but it had a couple sequences I actually liked which I can’t say about 5. But yeah overall still pretty weak to me. Especially the atrocious ending and the fact that none of the main characters died. These people were invincible. It was so annoying in the theater

24:10 it’s Charlie attacking Gale; Jill outright says she killed her mother… and if people bring up the “matching wounds” thing, Jill had that built in… she was serious about the matching wound book.
I’ll also never get over the fact that we didn’t get the burlap ghostface.
You'll be getting silver Ghostface with a flamethrower in Scream 5 so there is that 🤷🏼♂️
I didn't notice this until I watched it a few times, but if you look closely when Jill and Kirby are watching Olivia being killed through the window, Jill is filming the whole thing with her phone. You can see the camera light on when she's holding her phone up against the window.
i think i’d actually love to be in a real life horror movie, like listen i understand trauma and all but i’m thinking from jill’s perspective here, the fame of being a soul survivor sounds pleasing to me

Is funny how nobody comment the amazing deleted line that poor Gale has in the trailer. Actually Gale doenst do nothing in this movie ,and dissapear after get stabed . Dewey even worst ,dont learn nothint after 3 massacre ,not a surprise how bad the others officers are.
People dragged Scream 3 ,but had more suspense,better caracthers and more amazing chase scenes that this one had.
And i just love that the whole hospital scene with the famous line "dont fuck with the original" who the fans aways love ,came from Ehren Kruger rewritten ,demonstrade that his not a bad writter ,just that assholes weinsteins that fuck up that franchise everytime that they want.
And finally i stand up with you queen ,Kirby is amazing but people need just accept that SHE IS DEAD MORE THAT A DECADE.

Sounds like you dislike Scream 4 because of your experience around the film which primed your view of it. Sometimes, it's better to go in cold and be a superfan later. You spoiled it for yourself. I love Scream 4 and have great memories of that day seeing it in theaters. So underrated and weirdly misunderstood, it's one of the best entries in the franchise and way better than the subsequent films. Love the meta opening complete with cameo appearances, the giant CGI knives, the darker tone and return to blood & gore after Scream 3 was neutered by execs, the star-studded supporting cast, the wild third act, the return to a female villain, the commentary on toxic masculinity and social media fame, and of course, the addition of the instantly iconic, Kirby. Fabulous!

Scream is my baby. Period. And I remember loving Scream 4 in theaters except it’s overly comedic tone. Also Seth Cohen SHOULD’VE been a third killer OR been taken Charlie’s role as a killer it would’ve made a lot more sense as to how they pulled it off and would’ve been cool seeing the new proto Dewey become a bad guy. Lauren Graham was originally cast to play aunt Kate. But dropped out a few days into filming. Lake Bell was originally cast as Deputy Judy but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. I can not find any information on why Lauren Graham dropped out.

It always took me out the movie how small the killers were compared to the size of ghostface it makes it not believable where as all the other ghostface killers body size frames were of a similar stature to ghostface so you could buy it was them in the costume.

I can say scream 4 isn’t the best sequel but in my opinion it’s whole lot better than Scream 5

On the Halloween Horror Nights brief mention,I think they did had a Scream themed Terror Tram if I remember correctly in 2012? It was set up to make it look like Ghost face hijacked the tourists' bus as it drove you to the entrance. I don't think they haven't committed to a full maze yet though.

Hi Nick great reaction I'm a scream 4 fan but I do see what you mean in regards to the problems. If I was writing this script I would have taken the original ending and combined it with the initial beginning of the film where Sidney is attacked by Ghostface and she even unmasks Ghostface and she sees who it is but she collapses or gets knocked out before she can do anything, and so Sidney doesn't remember who Ghostface is and its more about her collecting her thoughts and having more of a role in the mystery where she sees flashes of details or remembers a word someone said. I would say the head stab death is disturbing and I would have kept that in but just avoided the bruce willis line

You can like whichever the most! It would be boring if everyone liked the exact same thing. I know many people who adore Scream 4.
I think when the cops were talking about circling around cause they saw somebody they were probably talking about Jill's boyfriend leaving her house and got suspicious as they say him leaving or the way I always took it was they were taking about after the attack and chasing Charlie

I have to laugh now at the fact that these openings skip over Stab 4 and 5 though. They were like "No, we use Stab 6 and 7. Stab 5 has time travel, we don't want to figure out an opening scene for that nonsense."
Can I just say how refreshing it is to see someone say Judy Hicks has to go? I know a lot of people find her to be a fun character but I'm like nope. No, she bugs me. Take your lemon squares and go.
I have to assume that Rebecca acted a certain way before this book tour or she assumed maybe Rebecca was very one track mind only for this side of her to come out where she's like "These deaths are great PR! Yay!" and that's when Sidney is like "Oh hell no, bye. I already dealt with this with Gale in high school."

Kirby is fantastic! I actually remember watching Hayden Panettiere with my mom when she was on Guiding Light in 1997. Every time I saw her after seeing her on GL for three years, I just always went "Oh look it's Lizzie!" no matter what I saw her in. This was actually the first movie that I didn't think that and cheered for her as the actual character she was playing.
What do you think about the original ending where they were going to leave it as Sidney's survival up in the air and reveal later that she's in a coma while Jill survived to get exactly what she wanted? In hindsight, I'm glad that they didn't do that since they waited so long to do Scream 5 so it would've been up in the air that whole time. But when they thought they were going to do Scream 5 much sooner then I'm curious if you think that would've worked. Especially since I think they were going to try and throw in Sidney having amnesia about the Scream 4 events as well.
