there is a glitch u missed. If u die from a pit while in debug mode, while in the death animation, activate debug mode then place an object. It freezes. Me and my brother found this out ourselves
I want to show this to everyone because your video are so fun to watch, not only that but you explain everything well detail by details. I was wondering if you can make a son of a glitch video of banjo Kazooie and maybe majora mask ?
When I was a kid, i remember getting about 50 hits on the final boss without him dying, and now you've finally explained why :) Thank you for helping me find out after 20 years what happened :D
There is a rom hack called "Hedgehog Abuse Simulator" where your in some type of debug mode and use spikes to get Sonic to normally unreachable platforms, which is a nice reference to the debug spike glitch.
+Rena Kunisaki al the more reason to play Yandere Simulator!!! :D until he releases the finished game and will probably remove the functions. lets hope he never does that.
Rena Kunisaki I only ever beat the original sonic 2 using it for Supersonic. And even then, the ending had me choked up kind of. And more than that, I was like, "I NEED to get Sonic 3"

If you look closely when the signpost glitches after doing the level wrap, you can see that it contains sprites of monitors that were removed from the final game.
5:32 That glitch was fixed in the Saturn version, the 3DS version, and the Retro Engine version. That's because those versions of the game included the Spin Dash which would've made it easier to trigger that glitch had it not been fixed.
I've played this game so many in the past but haven't seen most of these before :D I did always love messing around in that debug mode though :D Great job as usual :)
I learned that stupid final zone glitch the hardest way you can imagine. My mother bought me Sonic 1 the first week it came out, and after weeks of so many tries at beating the game, when i finally made it to final zone, i beat robotnik and got silly and hit him again and it screwed me out of my first win. I cried i was so upset.
That final glitch happened to me when I was about 7 (long before I understood glitches), and I spent the next x amount of years wondering how and why! Thank you man!
5:16 i believe the spike glitch is still present in the Sega 3d classics collection as when I entered the code for debug and put sonic below the stage in act 2 he kept on getting hit by the spike.
You forgot one glitch that I discovered as a kid. After you beat the game, the credits screen includes action shots of CPU-controlled Sonic running through various stages. If you press Up+C, Down+C, Left+C, Rght+C repeatedly (same as Debug code), Sonic will break from the pre-determined path and start screwing up the run: getting hit, missing jumps, etc.
4:10 - If you do get stuck, you don't have to reset the game. Just wait for a Time Over (9 : 59) and you'll respawn at the last checkpoint you touched.
+Jamesthe1 {[Minecraft, Music, and more!]} still a shame... tbh, i often love glitches more than the games. not so much in recent titles, but I actually bought Super Mario Bros JUST for glitching (then later i truly played it. it was amazing)
fun fact: originally sonic's running was really fast, but because it can cause motion sickness, they slowed down his speed to make the game more playable.
Sweet glitch vid, but there is one glitch you missed; The "White ending" glitch, in where if you hold right during the ending cut scene you take control of Sonic, he keep holding & runs right. If you trying too far far right he'll die & a "white ending" will appear, which is essentially a crash as no credit appear & you need to reset the game. I'm not sure if it works on the ports, but I know it does work on the Mega Drive (/Genesis) version.
Also, after you defeat Robotnik in the Final Zone, when you chase after him in his flyinhg thing, dont move until he gets off screen, then run after. When you catch up with him, robotniks sprite despawns and the flying thing is driving itself.
Ike Okereke Well, before watching this video I was in a stupid phase of my life where I thought only Nintendo games were good and didn't give this series a chance because of Boom and '06. Once I actually saw gameplay of it though I decided to give it a try. And it did not disappoint.
Robotnik is actually faster, at least when Sonic has no speed shoes or Super Sonic. This is proven in Sonic 2 and in Sonic and Knuckles when he runs away from you in DEZ
Thank you for the video! I spent hours as a kid unsuccessfully trying to recreate a Marble Zone lateral glitch which happened once, now i understand why it happened. Been holding on to that for years 😂
Another glitch on the original release: Holding A+B+C while watching the demo play disables Sonic from jumping, so you can force Sonic to die. This also works in the ending credits.
I can verify that the only glitch in the 3DS port that doesn't work is the spike glitch. This is because, while the game does have 3D, it's still based on the original ROM file for the game, so the same glitches still work.
I am not sure if Pushing into the Animal Capsule or Super Mario Bros glitching into a block was the first Glitch I ever discovered as a Child...but I do know that I loved it back then.
you forgot one glitch in the special stages if you have debug mode leave the borders of the stage and fall and then you will go into the glitch world (where random tiles are placed) and if you dont hit a exit tile you can fall below it and end up landing on a clone of the stage
You can also collect multiples of the same Chaos emerald by doing it; since for some reason the game remembers which color chaos emeralds you've collected, rather than which stages you've cleared
Totally awesome Son of a Glitch! I love playing Sonic the Hedgehog online and I never knew there were glitches in it! Those glitches you did were super awesome btw. Anyway, keep making your Son of a Glitch videos awesome!

Hm... you should do an episode on Sonic 3 and Knuckles. That game has some very interesting glitches.... Especially in the Debug Mode. Like this one for example. Press the button to become an object, select one that you think might be interesting.... Now, exit that form, and find a special stage ring. As soon as you jump into it, quickly become that object again. When you exit the special stage, either by finishing it, or losing.... Well, you become a glitchy mess of sprites. Similar to Missingno. from Pokemon. It's based on whatever you were in the form of before doing the glitch, so there's quite a few forms you can take. And this lasts I BELIEVE for as long as you're in that stage, or until you die. So that's pretty fun. ...Also, there's the various ways Eggman, er sorry, "Robotnik" can die. Like being killed by Mecha Sonic if you go to Knuckle's last boss as Sonic, or Tails. And hitting him 255 times in Launch Base Zone. This game has a LOT of bugs. XD
I remember doing the thing where you end a stage but keep control of sonic, but every time I jumped sonic did this "Victory Jump" thing I've never been able to replicate it and I'm honestly not 100% sure if it really did happen but I later found out that those sprites /do/ exist in the game and were supposed to go unused
I love your videos so much! Even though i cant do these glitches because i dont have the games its cool to see what you can do. Thanks for showing these! Im glad i subbed to you. :D
Dude!! I did a 16-Bit Sonic the Hedgehog Glitches video a couple months ago, shame it's still not at 2000 views... ;D One of my best too! it was all three games though, maybe should have split it up but meh!
Great video. I never knew about these. The only one I found is if you finish a stage and keep pausing and unpausing at the beginning of the music and score countdown, you will notice a higher note appear and play until the end of the song
I love the Sonic games' Debug modes. So much fun to mess around in. :) I didn't know about that life underflow glitch, though, or about the game crashing at that one point in the stage. I'll have to try those out at some point.
One time i was playing sonic and a glitch ocured in Labaryth Zone,I broke an item box with a sheld but after breaking the box a Badnic killed me in one hit.
i was playing Sonic 1 in Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. in Green Hill Zone Act 3, i touched the boss checkpoint and backtracked to the final ramp with the 10 ring box and went near the ramp and Sonic was tilted so, i had to comment this to you, Andy!
Awesome episode. Man I really love your glitch show, I love how you go into detail, and put so much work into it. Showing us all these possible glitches and whatnot. Keep up the great work u deserve lots more subscribers :D
The Robotnik Final Zone one is one I encountered as a kid. Confused the hell out of me, and people didn't believe me when I told them that Robotnik was impossible.
Something that people may have not noticed: When you finish an act so fast that the signpost is glitched, the tiles shown are from the monitor icons. You can see that it shows the "goggles" and "S" icons, two kind of monitors that are unused in the game!
It works on the PS4 version. Up, circle (instead of C), down, circle, left, circle, right, circle. (Ring tone heard) Held Square+Options (instead of A+Start) till the start of the act, and finally to enter debug mode press cross.
1:17 it's actually called Underflow, and the glitch works becauase the device that runs the game is 16-bit. sonic's position is stored as an unsigned integer meaning he can only be between 0 and 65535 but the glitch sends sonic off so fast that the collision detection fails and it tries to place him at a number below the range and when that happens it just wraps around back to 65535
Tem Well, Sonic 1 is a short game anyway, so restarting wouldn't actually be that bad. I just see waiting 10 minutes as a waste of time. Also, if you are playing the game normally, then you would never be in that predicament. Assuming you have ended up in that glitch, it's probably because you intending on doing that glitch, so overall progress in the game wouldn't really matter all that much.
I think I ran into that final Robotnik glitch the first time I reached him. I certainly remember feeling near tears wondering HOW MANY TIMES MUST I HIT YOU?
A+Start Zipping helped me get me past some of the ridiculous platforming in the game. Although the game thinks sonic is getting smashed so it eventually leads me to a game over.
I remember, as a kid, when I played this game in Debug mode, I could go into Marble Zone (I forget if it was in act 2 or act 1) and go down below the Lava section while in Debug Mode. Not only could I go below that, I also could go so far down that the background with move out of the way, and I would be floating in a blue void. Was pretty freaky. XD
hi i love your videos and sometimes you are funny i really like these glitches. also they are pretty mindblowing and i really really like your sonic glitches because im a big sonic and sonic.exe fan!!!
I've done the run jump glitch on accident on the Gamecube version when going across the lava on the block. I know that spike glitch isn't possible in the Gamecube version, which is nice, but are any of these other glitches like the zip glitch available on the Gamecube version, i.e. Sonic Mega Collection version.
You should do an episode on The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap, or one of the other 16 bit Zelda games, I'm interested to see if there are any noticeable glitches in them. I'd also be interested in a Son of a Glitch on The Legend of Zelda or Zelda II. I love the great work on this series, and I expect more great things out of you, A+Start!
Did you know you could use debug in the special stages? well if you fly out of the map and hit an a emerald you will get a blue one, but keep doing this and you can have 6 blue emeralds or 6 green one's whatever color you like.
Thanks to everyone who supports the show, here's another episode. I hope you enjoy it and learn something new.

Matt Osness, you only have to hold c
I can verify that the only glitch in the 3DS port that doesn't work is the spike glitch. This is because, while the game does have 3D, it's still based on the original ROM file for the game, so the same glitches still work.
Yeah, the spike glitch is fixed, if you switch to "Japanese" version on the menu.

a debug mode, where you can add sprites at your leisure. all games need to have a feature like this.
5:27 that walking/jumping can happen when you jump while the platforms are pushed up (marble zone)
you forgot one glitch
in the special stages if you have debug mode leave the borders of the stage and fall and then you will go into the glitch world (where random tiles are placed) and if you dont hit a exit tile you can fall below it and end up landing on a clone of the stage
You can also collect multiples of the same Chaos emerald by doing it; since for some reason the game remembers which color chaos emeralds you've collected, rather than which stages you've cleared

One time i was playing sonic and a glitch ocured in Labaryth Zone,I broke an item box with a sheld but after breaking the box a Badnic killed me in one hit.
Lol
i was playing Sonic 1 in Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. in Green Hill Zone Act 3, i touched the boss checkpoint and backtracked to the final ramp with the 10 ring box and went near the ramp and Sonic was tilted so, i had to comment this to you, Andy!
0:26 look at the "scor"
when I watch your videos on my tablet while intoxicated I try to tap on your channel tag to get to Playstation Plus. 10/10.
Awesome episode. Man I really love your glitch show, I love how you go into detail, and put so much work into it. Showing us all these possible glitches and whatnot. Keep up the great work u deserve lots more subscribers :D
Might you possibly do a Sonic Boom Son of a Glitch?
John Civitillo it's way too soon, there's like three major glitches/techniques for it, not worth making an episode. But people keep requesting it.
A+Start Yeah, but it'll probably be a fun one to do in a few months.
A+Start
It's cool. I understand. Here's to a Sonic Boom episode in the distant future though! :)
No.......it would be like 10 hours...
A+Start What about now
Sonic really must be rolling around at the speed of sound, if he can go all the way around he world in a few seconds
How to get debug mode:
Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right, C, and last but not least, "A+START"
you don't need to make a comment like this, as he already told you about the code, so technically don't need this.
The Robotnik Final Zone one is one I encountered as a kid. Confused the hell out of me, and people didn't believe me when I told them that Robotnik was impossible.
Oh lord, does this mean Sonic 2/3/&K episodes are coming? Tails glitches alone could be like 20 episodes. I can't wait! =D
OH MY GOD! FINALLY SONIC ! thanks man :D my favourite game series, i wish you would do all the sonic games, if you find glitches in them :D
I put many many hours into this game, I don't think i've experienced these collision bugs before though.
Something that people may have not noticed: When you finish an act so fast that the signpost is glitched, the tiles shown are from the monitor icons. You can see that it shows the "goggles" and "S" icons, two kind of monitors that are unused in the game!
Sonic 16 is coming out next year. Someone hold me.
where's sonic 16?!?!??!??!?!?!?!?!?!?
He meant Sonic 06
I like how your invincible when you activate debug mode
Same. 😅
does anyone know how to do debug mode on xbox one?
Icy press X on no save
Axvender do u know how to get debug mode in ps3 sonic 1?
Amanda Gillula ???????
It works on the PS4 version. Up, circle (instead of C), down, circle, left, circle, right, circle. (Ring tone heard) Held Square+Options (instead of A+Start) till the start of the act, and finally to enter debug mode press cross.
Yeah pls tell me
1:17 it's actually called Underflow, and the glitch works becauase the device that runs the game is 16-bit. sonic's position is stored as an unsigned integer meaning he can only be between 0 and 65535 but the glitch sends sonic off so fast that the collision detection fails and it tries to place him at a number below the range and when that happens it just wraps around back to 65535
You don't really have to restart. Just wait 10 minutes until the game kills you due to Time Over.
M1YAK2 Yeah but that's 10 minutes. Are you willing to wait 10 minutes when you could restart within seconds?
Skystar Gaming But then he would have to repeat the game
Tem Well, Sonic 1 is a short game anyway, so restarting wouldn't actually be that bad. I just see waiting 10 minutes as a waste of time. Also, if you are playing the game normally, then you would never be in that predicament. Assuming you have ended up in that glitch, it's probably because you intending on doing that glitch, so overall progress in the game wouldn't really matter all that much.
Reset and do Marble Garden again? Nah, fam.
@@calciferblack2409 This isn't Sonic 3
I think I ran into that final Robotnik glitch the first time I reached him. I certainly remember feeling near tears wondering HOW MANY TIMES MUST I HIT YOU?
In the first zip I tried to, and I died.
Panos Sonic expect that to happen a lot
A+Start Zipping helped me get me past some of the ridiculous platforming in the game. Although the game thinks sonic is getting smashed so it eventually leads me to a game over.
Maybe before doing the zips do the 1up glitch
Same
+Dino Magna SEGA
I remember, as a kid, when I played this game in Debug mode, I could go into Marble Zone (I forget if it was in act 2 or act 1) and go down below the Lava section while in Debug Mode.
Not only could I go below that, I also could go so far down that the background with move out of the way, and I would be floating in a blue void. Was pretty freaky. XD
Do super Mario sunshine! Or super Mario 64! 2 great games!
Glitchfest?
Dilip Tien yeah
I mean psycoh(?) did one for those
Dilip Tien
oh no i mean that he does one. the game has plenty of glitches i dont think that psycoh covered all. also super mario 64 is good too
I agree. I need both of them to do glitch videos.
hi i love your videos and sometimes you are funny i really like these glitches. also they are pretty mindblowing and i really really like your sonic glitches because im a big sonic and sonic.exe fan!!!
do sonic boom that will be 99:99:99 bigger than youtube can count 😂
No it's only 3 major glitches
Interesting and awesome as always! Keep up the brilliant work of yours!
Cave story sprite?!? :0
That's right. How come?
I love Cave story :3
Well, then we're two!
It's very rare to find Cave Story fans this days :
Did you know you could use debug in the special stages? well if you fly out of the map and hit an a emerald you will get a blue one, but keep doing this and you can have 6 blue emeralds or 6 green one's whatever color you like.
Yeah, and you can even fall far outside of the Special Stage map, which leads to an glitch world...
I dont know how I havent found your channel until now. Love the vids man!
Sonic origins get debug mode and go to 3rd act of Spring yard zone play as Amy and tails and when you start moving tails goes up into the air.
