Having bad glowplugs didn't give this a fair shot. At that temp it is impressive enough to be able to crank the engine. It didn't start due to the glowplugs, not the jump pack.

Yep. It cranked the truck for a good bit too. With good glow plugs it would’ve started

Although now that i think about it too the first day it died a few cranks short of starting and the second day it didn’t spin it over nearly as fast to even fire so maybe i’ll have to try it again if we get another cold day with a different truck

Man, I can speak with definite experience about glow plugs. I had 1 glow plug out in my 6.0 and it would take 3-4 seconds to fire up between 20-30 degrees outside. I swapped the plugs on the passenger side and it fires up in less than a second at 10 degrees now. If your glow plugs are bad, especially in a 7.3 it's going to thrash that jump box. Don't knock the box yet until you fix your plugs....

Along with glow plugs issues, you might have lower compression due the motors age. In That case it Would be easier to turn over, but even harder to start (making you even more glowplug/preheat dependant). You might want to look into an airbox heat element to add, or make something simple (any 12v in-cab heater) to install in the air box with its own switch (and fuse) to warm the intake air along with the glow plugs ~

I'm actually impressed it cranked as much as it did. If it had dead batteries connected and you left it on for a few minutes it probably would go

Shoulda had the block heater plugged in…at those temps that black goo in the oil pan would have eased the pain 😏

Great video! I just ordered the new NOCO GBX75 ( 2500A ) from Amazon on Prime Day yesterday. Got $80 Prime Day discount.
When you did these tests was the NOCO pack the same temp as outside air? ( did you keep the pack in the truck overnight? ) or was it house/warm temp? Great product mine's supposed to arrive today. Thanks again!

It was in the house for the test and then i brought it outside for testing

Mine lasted one year. No NOCO ever again for me.
Mine allowed the lithium battery to discharge to a point of no return. The discharge protection circuit is missing or faulty.

If the truck had have been a good starter the noco would have started it no problem it was turning over fast enough ie. fault with the truck not the pack.

these batteries simply dont work on diesels in cold weather. I picked up an extra battery from walmart just ot jump the truck.
