I work for a Medium-Size Bulk hauling company with 700+ trucks (International, Mack, Pete) and 19 shops up and down the east coast. We have one of these at each of our shops and they have been working great. They are made by a chinese company called "South King" who resells/rebrands their "SK-JP30", goodall does not manufacture these. They have a 16000Mah, 235.8Wh 14.8V lithium battery. We have one at every shop and they work great. They do go bad, I took apart a broken one and could not find the fault, the battery was good so it seemed to be a board issue. We use ours daily, no issues.
$1,000 is a small price to pay when you have a decent amount of trucks that need batteries. It’s a real helpful tool that pretty much pays for itself. Impressive that it can turn over an engine without any batteries.👍
so you know. starting a car with no batteries requires less power from a jumpbox than a veh. with the batts still attached but drained. the dead batttery pulls the available amps way down, charging
The noco ones are really good too. For semi truck you need something with at least 3000 amps in normal condition. If the battery is completely dead you need something with 5000 amps or more.
For those customers that like what the JP-12-10000 can do but are not Starting Vehicles larger than 10 Liter Diesels, or are in Geographic locations where Cold Weather Temperatures are not normal the Startall Jump Pack is also available in a 5000 Amp unit the JP-12-5000. We love the honesty and real value of this video as it speaks to the facts without any bias.
time is money....when its frigid cold, i dont want to have to swap out 3 or 4 batteries just to move a truck. only to have to do it again to the next one behind it. only weighs 11 lbs too. easy to keep in the truck and on charge at all times.
I work for a good size municipality, they bought this same jump pack this past year. They all but got rid of their gas powered jump packs. Jumps from 5 ton dump trucks to 15 ton trucks to backhoes to solid waste trucks to a case 621 loader day to day. Seems to work real well and hold up too. Great vid! Love the channel!
i was just about to build a diesel powered "start all". i was going to use a 19hp yanmar 3 cyl diesel, a 260amp alt, 3 group 31 batteries and 3 sets of cables with 2/0 cables. i was going to build it on a pull wagon with bigger air tire sow i could get it around. i found this and dont see the need now.
I'm glad I mentioned that one and I'm even more glad it's working well! It started a C-15 Caterpillar with completely dead batteries. Dash didn't light up with the key on. Also started an MX-13 I was driving with dead batteries in below freezing weather. Dash lit up with that one but the starter wouldn't even engage. Both companies I've worked for owned that model and it worked every time. The one company used that instead of the generator start-all they had. More convenient and worked just as well.
I have one of those and have been using it for about a year as a heavy truck tech and it is by far the best jump pack I've ever used. Good call and good video!

i had four group 31 semi truck batteries on a cart with 4 sets of 2/0 welding cables as jumpers. worked well but not easy to get around in snow drifts between trucks....this is 11lbs and goes anywhere. it isnt the solution for everyone but it is for me!
I have 2 of the JNC660 boxes. Older one just hit 8 years old and it's doing the same thing yours is. Needs a battery. The new battery for it is $36. Well worth the investment. My newer 660 is going on 3 years and still flawless.
I have the gooloo 4000a , had it over a year. I've used it at least 150 times so far. I've jumped from lawn mowers to a komatsu wa450 with it and it's awesome.
Very impressive, it would be really interesting if you could get one of the NOCO Brand they’re a really big one that says they can start like anything and compare them that would be the best diesel jump box test ever
@@j.c.smithprojects , Thanks for the response. I am looking at a few different boxes, one for my truck GMC 5.3 and one for each of my wife/daughter's cars, Corolla. The JNC is one, mainly because I've seen them work and they are made in the US and from what I hear, they have a great warranty and after that runs out, you can simply send it in and they'll service or rebuild it for a lot less than buying a new one. The Good-all just came across my radar and now I'm seeing if I should put it on my list. I don't have any large trucks to start, but I often find myself in situations where it would/could be necessary.
@jmackinjersey1 not exactly true. You can get a refurbished unit for 100 with the coupon but you have to pay for shipping. Currently you can find jnc660s for 135 shipped. End of the day not as great of a deal as they make it sound
We have the same Goodall jumper at the workplace, it'll start passenger cars, pickups, heavy duty trucks, busses, front loaders, etc. but not quite the first try every time. Sometimes it will take a few attempts to start something. We use it fairly often because new heavy duty trucks that come in will have dead batteries if left for couple of days, about 1 out of every 7 we service will need a jump.
@@j.c.smithprojects Headlights are usually on, and always have to wait for glow plugs to heat up. Jump a lot of vehicles so it's probably just a little worn out.
I had a service guy bring one of those packs out to jump my really dead, unprimed Detroit 60 when it was 20 degrees and it fired it my truck up like it had brand new batteries. This pack is on my Christmas list.

My 10,000 amp Goodall Start-All was absolutely JUNK......The true test of a product is how it works after a few years, NOT how it works when new/newer, out of the box. This product is made in China......Even though I always kept it charged over 40%, it stopped working after 7 months. The circuit board would go blank/dead, for no reason. I bought it new from Kenworth dealer and it worked excellent, while it was working. After a few uses and 7 months, it stopped working. Took it back to Kenworth for warranty claim and after waiting 8 weeks, I never got it back. When they called Vanair, Vanair said "due to limited parts availability and a high number of claims ahead of mine", they could not give KW dealer a date when I'd get it back........So i asked KW if they had many warranty claims on them and KW parts guy said, "Yes, the circuit boards are faulty and they've had lots of warranty claims". Like i said, they work good at first, when they're working, but do not last long due to the fact that they're very poor quality.
i have had it for years now and i have not had any issues at all. i use it all the time. works extremely well. many of my friends who are in the truck business have bought them and love them as well. sad you had an issue.
Check curcuits for charging an install new battery that is what i did an saved old dam good jump box cheaper than a new one an work bigger engine to add two jump boxes on
I've been using the noco gbx155 and it started my very low truck batteries I was looking into this one they sell at the parts store but alot of mechanics stand by this start all
Use your welder set to cv works great and you can adjust the voltage to whatever you need if you have a big diesel machine like the one on my service truck. I've jumped big dozers with completely dead batteries no issues.
@@j.c.smithprojects yea I forget sometimes that I have more then ordinary length leads. I run 200 ft leads in my truck but even with that if you have a bunch of semis stacked in there that's not enough. I don't do too many heavy trucks though as well like you do
The jump pack is just a battery with a handle on it. If you have fleet of trucks all you need is to have a charged battery ready to go and connect it with jumper cables.
show me a charged battery with 10,000 amps of capacity. i use to have 3 group 31 925 ca batteries paralleled with 3 separate sets of permanently connect 2/0 cables and high amperage clamps for the truck battery side. that was 2775 ca available. it didnt hold a candle to this. this uses a capacitor based system. they hold lots of power and can send a burst of energy extremely fast. this type of system takes a long time to recharge to full capacity. it only weighs 11lbs. im telling you, there is nothing else like it. it works so well, i bought another one. i have two now.
Believe it or not BMWs are extremely hard to jump start. I have a jump box from Harbor Freight. As long as you let it sit connected to the battery for 5 minutes prior to trying to start the engine. It's started V8's like a brand new battery.
Hey Mr JC I have the same jump box battery took a crap in it so I found a battery place here in Paducah where I live and put a new battery in it and that things been off some ever since just replaced the battery and that's on the 660 and then I have the bigger one that I used to use for semi trucks I work for a towing company so
i use to have 3 group 31 batteries paralleled with 3 sets of 2/0 cables on a 4 wheel cart with a 120volt charger. it would usually get them going but it was heavy, big and not easy to move around in the snow.
The JNC has a field replaceable battery. It's a 12 volt 22 amp hour gel AGM battery. Done it two or three times now. Unfortunately the batteries have a finite life expectancy. Replacement is easy peasy.
Ive used my jnc 660 for 8 yrs. Till it died i got my coupon out that came with it turned it inwith 45.00 and got another one the case was cracked because i left it on the bumper of service truck one nite went back.found it and used it another 3 yrs till it quit ,started just about everything including desiels still using another one with coupon this time 75.00 replacement cost still running 5yrs later.
man thank you for doing this video how you did , i have been beside myself trying to figure out the one i need and you helped witth that so big thank you hell yea good video and i subbed
I must of bought one that was defective because I had two semi trucks that batteries were completely dead and couldn’t turn it over. I had to put jumper cables first then it would work little disappointed since lots of people were claiming it starts trucks with dead batteries. Was always showing E6 code of low voltage did everything stated in instructions and still couldn’t get it cranking and to add on the led light on side doesn’t even turn on aswell
i have found that sometimes it needs to see an amperage draw in order to give a boost. i had a couple that i had to turn the lights in first. then it wouldnt have the error code and worked as it should.
Dear J.C. Smith projects family. 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, extremely impressive! To be completely honest: At first I thought that I would never ever spend 1000 USD for a jump starter. But for a business/profession like yours, this thing is obviously extremely helpful and a time saver too. It's freakin' awesome and nearly unbelievable, what this little device is able to do. The manufacturer should definitely donate something to you for showing this to the world. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.
i saw that. i dont have anything 24 volt. use to have a freightliner that was 24 volts starter then 12 volt for everything else. if i recall, i replaced the series parrallel switch. it was bad and sending 24 through the entire truck. lights were very bright....for a little while.
why dont you have a battery bank on wheels in your vehicle? 2 big diesel batteries in the bed and a big long cable? with tie in to your alternator and 2 vehicle batts up front? itd have up to the power of 4 batteries and the alternator. or just on a dolly and wheel it raound and plug into your truck
Hey Jc I took an old lawn edger and removed the blade and installed an alternator on it. I’m sure you could make a cart with a gasoline alternator and a couple truck batteries, those jump packs are expensive! Have you ever put a meter on these jump packs
i was getting ready to build something similar when i found this. this is far more convenient at only 11 lbs. i have 2 other properties with trucks on them. not easy to transport something that has an engine, alternatior and 3 group 3 batteries.
if i replace the batteries in the trucks in this video it would cost me over $1500. this is not to keep me from buying batteries. it is to keep me from having to change out batteries just to move a truck when i need to get to one behind it. i replace batteries when a truck is either put into service or is sold. otherwise it is a waste of money putting new batteries in trucks that i am not ready to build yet. i have trucks behind trucks that are behind trucks. this is much faster and only weight 11lbs. it is far more convenient than carrying 8 or 10 batteries to swap out if one wont start.
I see what you're saying. But you gotta pay for quality. He did before and after starts and it performed nicely. JC is a really good guy and I trust his opinion and thoughts on the jump pack. If you have lots of vehicles or trucks you're going to have plenty of dead batteries, or close to dead. This seems like it's great for that.
Good video. That box is legit! I see your problem, you have way too many trucks! 😄 I have the JNC 660, Have had it for probably 10 yrs, it worked great for years but the internal battery finally got pretty weak so I replaced the internal battery, got the replacement battery from Batteries Plus, I think it was about $60. Be sure to occasionally charge the Jump Boxes and they'll last a LOT longer. If some company wanted to dominate the market, they'd make a HD Jump Box with a built in battery tender so it's always good to go and would probably last almost indefinitely. I recently bought the 30,000 amp Viking Jump Box from Harbor Freight, only about $300, seems pretty legit so far. Most newer vehicles benefit from a battery shut off so the batteries don't drain sitting. My Ram 2500 will kill the batteries in about 3-4 wks of sitting from the ECU doing it's thing. I just put a HD Flaming River Disconnect on my FL80 Dump Truck and it makes all the difference plus I can lock it for security.
your dodge is going dead after just a few weeks, you have a draw that is pulling the battery down or the battery itself is bad. it should be able to go months and months without draining it. 50 miliamp draw is acceptable.
I have a much smaller lithium powered jump pack (so... the same technology, just the baby version) and it's mind boggling what it can do. I would never expect it to crank over a commercial engine, but for regular automotive stuff it's pretty hard to beat. I have considered using it in combination with a group 31 battery to try to turn it into a big boy jump box without the big boy price.

i have had it for years now and i have not had any issues at all. i use it all the time. works extremely well. many of my friends who are in the truck business have bought them and love them as well. sad you had an issue.
wonder if it needed top balancing? (Eg. leave it on charge at 100% for a day to let the cells top balance.)
Check curcuits for charging an install new battery that is what i did an saved old dam good jump box cheaper than a new one an work bigger engine to add two jump boxes on
I have the same jnc and it's been a good box for me. Man I'm really impressed with that new one of yours
I've jumped big dozers with completely dead batteries no issues.
the reason i wanted a jump pack is sometimes these trucks are 4 and 5 rows wide and 5 or 6 deep. cant get a truck close enough to jump
@@j.c.smithprojects yea I forget sometimes that I have more then ordinary length leads. I run 200 ft leads in my truck but even with that if you have a bunch of semis stacked in there that's not enough. I don't do too many heavy trucks though as well like you do
thanks for sharing man!!!! I bought the same snapon box u have absolute junk!!!! thanks for sharing i love your honesty channel...
The jump pack is just a battery with a handle on it. If you have fleet of trucks all you need is to have a charged battery ready to go and connect it with jumper cables.
not even close. you have no idea.
@@j.c.smithprojects Why do you say that? I have rebuilt many of these things. The only thing inside is a battery, charging circuit and power switch.
show me a charged battery with 10,000 amps of capacity. i use to have 3 group 31 925 ca batteries paralleled with 3 separate sets of permanently connect 2/0 cables and high amperage clamps for the truck battery side. that was 2775 ca available. it didnt hold a candle to this. this uses a capacitor based system. they hold lots of power and can send a burst of energy extremely fast. this type of system takes a long time to recharge to full capacity. it only weighs 11lbs. im telling you, there is nothing else like it. it works so well, i bought another one. i have two now.
@j.c.smithprojects ok I did not know it used capacitors. Sounds like something new.
Believe it or not BMWs are extremely hard to jump start. I have a jump box from Harbor Freight. As long as you let it sit connected to the battery for 5 minutes prior to trying to start the engine. It's started V8's like a brand new battery.
Hey Mr JC I have the same jump box battery took a crap in it so I found a battery place here in Paducah where I live and put a new battery in it and that things been off some ever since just replaced the battery and that's on the 660 and then I have the bigger one that I used to use for semi trucks I work for a towing company so
That thing seems to work pretty awesome! I'd like to try that against my Noco GB155. I've not had great luck with their products or warranty dept.
Bad luck with Noco?
Yeah I would love to see that
Cheers JC. I been looking for a good jump pack here in Australia but all I get are flat promises. Hello Mrs JC.
I use a group 24 battery and made my own cables . It does everything i need.
i use to have 3 group 31 batteries paralleled with 3 sets of 2/0 cables on a 4 wheel cart with a 120volt charger. it would usually get them going but it was heavy, big and not easy to move around in the snow.
Excellent video!
THANK YOU
My semi has never cranked as fast as it did Hooked up to this thing..
That’s one awesome jump pack.
Jc i saw one of those in the parts house International
That's one hell of a jump pack there J.C! 😧 I need to get one!
1000 dollars is a lot but I have over 300 into my heavy duty booster cables. This peaks my interest
That strudel truck is from my town haha. I did not know you bought it
is about time to look into NOCO.....
had theirs....wont do what this does.
The JNC has a field replaceable battery. It's a 12 volt 22 amp hour gel AGM battery. Done it two or three times now. Unfortunately the batteries have a finite life expectancy. Replacement is easy peasy.
i will replace the battery. it worked well and would be convenient to have for other things.
@@j.c.smithprojects get the battery from Amazon. Best price.
Just a sniff of ether will also make those engines start better if they will crank.
either has no lubricant qualities. it dries the cylinder walls. great way to score a cylinder wall. then you will be using either to start it forever.
that's pretty impressive. is it a capacitive discharge or does it have a battery in it?
I never looked that deep into it but at the amperage they claim, it cant be a battery and still be 11 lbs.....so i think.
probably both; looks like it needs some time after start-up to charge up its capacitors from its battery.
Ive used my jnc 660 for 8 yrs. Till it died i got my coupon out that came with it turned it inwith 45.00 and got another one the case was cracked because i left it on the bumper of service truck one nite went back.found it and used it another 3 yrs till it quit ,started just about everything including desiels still using another one with coupon this time 75.00 replacement cost still running 5yrs later.
i didnt get any coupon with mine.
I’ve heard good things about the noco as well. The jnc660 is great for lawns mowers and small cars.
youre silly. I jump diesel pick ups multiple times per week with a JNC 660
@@livewithnick you can have mine then. It won’t unless it’s 80 degrees out. Noco smokes it every-time
@@dscapes1091 you want my address? Lol
@@dscapes1091 I’ve got a brand new NOCO GBX155 that won’t even charge 🤷♂️
VGG loves his jnc660.
I been wondering about the start all jump box. Looks like they are good
man thank you for doing this video how you did , i have been beside myself trying to figure out the one i need and you helped witth that so big thank you hell yea good video and i subbed
i have had it for months now and i would definitely buy it again. considering a second one to leave in my truck.
@@j.c.smithprojects been using it a while and love it made my issues easy when i needed it works well on semi-trucks with dead battery's
The snapon is good for lawnmower
That’s about it
I was pissed off to
it was a let down. rarely disappointed by snap on but this was a loser for me.
Just cuz you pay more doesn't make it a better tool
I must of bought one that was defective because I had two semi trucks that batteries were completely dead and couldn’t turn it over. I had to put jumper cables first then it would work little disappointed since lots of people were claiming it starts trucks with dead batteries. Was always showing E6 code of low voltage did everything stated in instructions and still couldn’t get it cranking and to add on the led light on side doesn’t even turn on aswell
i have found that sometimes it needs to see an amperage draw in order to give a boost. i had a couple that i had to turn the lights in first. then it wouldnt have the error code and worked as it should.
Good job
been wanting a jump box for a while only need one to start gas engines
Best regards luck and health to all of you.
i think ill give this thing a shot, i got a truck with their gas jumpstart system but this is much more convenient
You should have bought the Snap On 12 /24 old Snap On like the one you showed.
if snap on was better i would have. it isnt and i dont need 24v
They sell the ones that have the 24 V they work pretty good for the 3 batteries in school busses they do real good
i saw that. i dont have anything 24 volt. use to have a freightliner that was 24 volts starter then 12 volt for everything else. if i recall, i replaced the series parrallel switch. it was bad and sending 24 through the entire truck. lights were very bright....for a little while.
why dont you have a battery bank on wheels in your vehicle? 2 big diesel batteries in the bed and a big long cable? with tie in to your alternator and 2 vehicle batts up front? itd have up to the power of 4 batteries and the alternator. or just on a dolly and wheel it raound and plug into your truck
i have had that.it isnt nearly as portable or as powerful. you have to realize many are my trucks are 3 to 4 rows deep.
@@j.c.smithprojects is it lithium
Hey Jc I took an old lawn edger and removed the blade and installed an alternator on it. I’m sure you could make a cart with a gasoline alternator and a couple truck batteries, those jump packs are expensive! Have you ever put a meter on these jump packs
i was getting ready to build something similar when i found this. this is far more convenient at only 11 lbs. i have 2 other properties with trucks on them. not easy to transport something that has an engine, alternatior and 3 group 3 batteries.
@@j.c.smithprojects 10/4 appreciate the thought out response
Two 8 batteries and you can boost any diesel truck and charge them of your vehicle also
i cant move them around as easy as this 11lb jump box!
but its $1000. it better work
how many batteries can you buy for that?
(I know its more portable than batteries/jumper cables...but still)
if i replace the batteries in the trucks in this video it would cost me over $1500. this is not to keep me from buying batteries. it is to keep me from having to change out batteries just to move a truck when i need to get to one behind it. i replace batteries when a truck is either put into service or is sold. otherwise it is a waste of money putting new batteries in trucks that i am not ready to build yet. i have trucks behind trucks that are behind trucks. this is much faster and only weight 11lbs. it is far more convenient than carrying 8 or 10 batteries to swap out if one wont start.
I have the JNC 660, Have had it for probably 10 yrs, it worked great for years but the internal battery finally got pretty weak so I replaced the internal battery, got the replacement battery from Batteries Plus, I think it was about $60.
Nice!
How big is your engine size on the pickup truck?
For a thousand dollars it better work. Good investment for people who have a lot of trucks and work on a lot of diesels.
tell me you have not spent a good amount on something. only to be disappointed with its performance.....
The best one is a free one that works
some of us arent looking for hand outs. we pay our own way.
Great looking jumper box but the price think there could be half price what you paid
i have no problem paying the price for quality. THIS IS QUALITY!
Wounder if those work in any car truck etc do they still sell them??
Love mine!!!
Where's the link to buy one
I have a much smaller lithium powered jump pack (so... the same technology, just the baby version) and it's mind boggling what it can do. I would never expect it to crank over a commercial engine, but for regular automotive stuff it's pretty hard to beat. I have considered using it in combination with a group 31 battery to try to turn it into a big boy jump box without the big boy price.
Is it noco gbx 155?
@@acedhtfuninlife7643 Naa.. It's one of those with a million different names, but all made in the same shell. Mine is branded as DB Power.
