After this long how do they compare to you in your use case? I have the R8 but I have a lead on a used R5 for $950 right now. Wondering if I should just get it. Lemme know! Thanks! 🙏
Cool video! Camera is surprisingly SMALL - wow! Camera seems to be the real step up in many ways for someone who has a 90D and wants to upgrade a bit. Big thumbs up 👍👍👍
Wait! Hold the phone!!! Is this THE PeterGregg!?!? woo hoo! My first camera review and I'm already getting the attention of the big dogs! lol. (Thanks for watching, buddy!)
thanks forthe review! I'm looking to get a camera mostly for some photography (street and city stuff mostly) and a bit of video when i travel this summer so looking for something relativly small and light, do you think this system is a good choice for someone that is starting fresh? (no existing full frame lenes)
I am not a photographer so I can't speak to what makes a good street camera, but for from a video perspective, yes. Absolutely (at least so far). That's pretty much what I intend to use it for. "Street Video"...if you know what I mean
The battery has about half the life of the battery you are used to. Aftermarket batteries are cheap tho. You can also mount a battery grip from the RP, it works great. I currently own the R8 and the R7. I was surprised at how skinny the R8 was for a full frame camera. The R7 is much thicker.
Does the canon R8 really have a 30 min record limit at 4k60p? Some articles say it does and others say it doesn't, I'm a bit confused. I hope you'll share more of your experience with the R8, especially how it compare with the R5 when it comes to 4k sharpness and dynamic range.
I have a question, is the camera divided (switch) with the video/stills separated like their better cameras - or does it only have a video mode on the PSAM mode dial? If it isn't divided then you can't save your video settings. With the Canon R6 you cannot save your video settings like you can with the R5 body.
I have an opportunity to get an R5 cheaper than an R8 but I’m keeping the R8 because it’s better in my hand I don’t want a thick camera I originally wanted an APS-C size. Am I a fool? It’s my first camera
As a Sony Fanboy, I am very impressed with the R8! But I hate when companies downgrade the battery!!! At the end I was hoping to see you eat a leftover rib! 😂😂 Great video bud!!
I bought this to stop stealing my mothers r6II, it’s got a lot in it for what it is The overheat bar scares me but I’ve never actually had it overheat, batteries being tiny are a major pain unfortunately tho This camera does allow me to use both the r8 and my mothers for scenes tho without the pain of them looking from 2 different cameras tho so that’s great, actually have a plan for a school project to use 2 angles!
i have the R5 but the weight and size of r8 for travel is amazing, but......... battery life and no stabilitzation (if you use third party lenses with no is) makes me worth the extra 250gr
An hour and 5 minutes. Get the Vello Battery grip and double the battery life. But I believe that Canon put a cripple hammer where at 2 hours it stops recording. Cheers!
Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any questions!
RF 35mm and cropped to 56mm. Kit lens are usually stabilized. Cheers!
R8 is for the family and the R5 or R6II are for the wedding photographers and content creators.
Even with R8 u can record weddings 😅
Grest video! hope to see more content like this approaching the bright and dark side of the new cameras

Vello Bacttery Grip or an external power bank with a DC Coupler usb with a dummy battery which works for me. Cheers!

I know, right? The Best Buy I went to yesterday had the r7. It's a very nice camera. Pictures never do them justice. Thanks for watching!
Took a while to get used to, I like this camera. I bought a dummy battery for the battery life. I got about 2 hours out of one battery.

Manual says the limit is 2 hours at lower frame rates including 60, 30min at 120fps and 20mm at 180fps. Although heat may also limit 4k60.
Thank you for the inspiration for this video. th-cam.com/video/mHEwB6ygDd4/w-d-xo.html

I'll look into it and get back to you
R8 has a switch to choose photo or video, each one saves its independent settings, much better than the RP that had it on the dial

Thanks, Jeff. Appreciate you stopping by. If I had spare ribs, I'd definitely share with you.

Can you make video comparison 8k video r5 vs r8?

Didn’t know the screen was smaller on the r8 than the r5 I’m guessing the r6 m2 is the same size as r5..bummer

Looks like canon is really trying to replace their DSLR line with all mirrorless R bodies
Wym. Isn't every company doing the same?
I thought an R8 is a car? Is this a car channel?
It was going to be, but my chain fell off so I quit.

@@ten96cycling lol. How many views is it up to now? 100K?
Yes, the car channel. GTR8 with twin Turbo.😂😂
The battery is how Canon nerfed this camera.
how long can the r8 record 4k30 video from one battery?
Great question. I'll look into it.

So the lower the number next to the R the better?
Low key 😂
You can use the wheel at the back and the front to adjust ISO and Fstop.
