This is my 1st and only camera. I love it, besides the stupid overheating happening every time I film 4K 60. I’m gonna try to acclimate mine, but I’m in Indiana and it always happens inside when I’m filming sports or basically anything. I guess I’ll stick it a few feet away from a heater for 30 minutes?? Idek man. This is so dumb.

Did Any of you try to film in LOG mode !? No one talks about that, NO ONE so let me tell you, The battery lasts 10 min in LOG mode, A 10 f****** min , I am useing this camera for 4 months now and believe me this is true :D Flight mode ON and GPS OFF

Agree... Today I tried my RODE and didn't see any difference...

I use 3 of these brands in my Canon SL3: Artman, "LP brand"and Canon. Artman tends to become swollen after one or two years, Canon looses a lot of its power after a year or so, and the one that works better than Canon's is the "LP brand"(the second one), but unfortunately the camera's battery life indicator does not work well with it, so the battery can shut down eventually even if the battery life indicates that it is full. Artman has the same issue.

I literally watched 30 seconds of your video and when you said that they were not accurate, I skipped straight to the place in the video where your results where, there is no point watching a video where the person said that there results are inaccurate and then does not display them for over 7 minutes.

I think will be great for my drone. The Osmo 4 is now only $30 more. Do you think the Osmo 4 will be much better ?

i know action 2 came out a long time ago, but just got myself one in 2024. so far i like it for its small and sturdy form, magnetic was strong. but just with the camera unit module alone only gave me around 30mins of footage with standard stabilization at 1080 30fps. it overheated and had to shut down. beats the purpose of having to use it outdoor as light and small possible on your headband or the magnet lanyard... but still happy that i have a small camera to mount between my eyes for FPV.

I use R8 for microscopy. It goes for hours connected to a monitor via HDMI capturing live view (and recording) and it has never overheated. I use a dummy battery dr e-18.

That happens when you use a cheap card.

It learns...it adapts....it's like the BORG!!!!! :)

In regard to battery issues: You can fix it if you turn of the permanently turned on wi-fi and bluetooth. I get 450+ shots this way.

I took my brand new dji action camera in the ocean and water got in it and that was the end of it...didn't even get to use it.

Mine in LOG mode 4k or HD lasts 10 min if you are lucky!! I turned airplane mode on now but I did not test it yet...

The shotgun microphone does make it sound like you're projecting and not just whispering or have a cold. I've been thinking about getting a Zoom H1N as an affordable stereo microphone that is better than the on board mic to record public events.

Did you try in cropmodes?

Would this camera have issues if you were traveling to a place like Disney World in Florida were you are constantly going from cool air conditioning inside, to hot humid air outside?

1080 normal (not the power reserve) is very good, it is not mushy. I use it all the time because it is so good.

If my guess is correct, you tested the 4K/30 fps at light compression not standard?

Thanks for this video. 😊 The problem I have with my R8, along with overheating, is that after it shuts down it would sometimes create a DAT file (which doesn’t have any footage on it) and the previous footage may be lost. It appears like the DAT replaces the footage taken…VERY ANNOYING!!! Due to this happening I’ve lost a lot of valuable video footage. My next camera will probably be a Canon R6 Mark II, where overheating doesn’t seem to be an issue.

I shoot 4k 60fps 4:3 but after cut for vertical it lose there quality plz tell how to shoot best vertical video for instagram with action 2

I'm interested in this camera as a rear view camera on my bike using the phone App. Can you see what the camera is seeing on the App while charging the camera? And what about recording using the App while charging the camera?

Thanks for the low light clips. I noticed the significant downgrade (compared to Pocket 3) but you confirmed for me it’s not a faulty unit. I will adjust expectations and use it in good light. Just love the form factor so much.

You can record highg speed with EF glass, but not EF-S glass. I thinknthe 1080p from the R8 sensor is notably sharper than the average 1080p.

That’s crazy.. just had this happen in the middle of an interview. It makes sense what you said because it was in AC for two days.. the next day packed it up got onsite and over heated immediately. Later on (after it warmed up) no problems. Know I have to acclimate it.. I will have to charge an extra hour to my client. lol

Help, I bought a used Canon M6, with third party ravpower batteries and it does not show the battery indicator on the screen. Is that normal?

It starts to be a little difficult to buy this camera in México, well any of the combos is more expensive than the Action 4.

the battery indicator is perfect. it serve the purpose so canon user will be switching to their camera with bigger battery. tadaaaaaaaa! you can thank me later for this marketing info lol if you think deeply how to sell a 20MP camera with premium price? well canon already got the recipe. by selling under spec camera as cheap as possible and give it bad battery life and confusing battery indicator. people will be buying the camera and when they investing for RF lens, you got a buyer for R6 without even trying. canon must be paying more for their marketing team rather than investing on RnD. they can use bigger battery for RP and R8, nobody will be complaining about a little bit weight or 2 millimeter wider. but no, they have to selling you the r6. this is bad business practice, but if costumer still buying and supporting? no problem
