This was such a blast to be a part of! Wacky racing games and the double Jason's, this has classic written all over it! Can I get in a wig again now!?!?
Some Crazy, Weird and Bizarre Racing Games with Jason Heine of TheEMUreview! Some of the games are so bad they are good…and some are…just really, really BAD!
The Urban Nemes1S Yeah, I remember the JOGcon force feedback gamepad packed into the R4 game for its original release. Cool collectible steering controller. Too bad it wasn't compatible with more racing games. Sure glad I still have mine though. I recently picked up another oddity on craiglist that I think I prefer more for a racing controller for the PS1. Its called the MegaRacer by Performance, and it also has a circular steering disc like the JOGcon on the face. Although it doesn't support force feedback, it does have a really strong spring tension to its action as well as being a NEGcon emulator which makes it compatible with all racing games that used the NEGcon. Cool odd steering controller that still can be found on ebay or maybe Amazon.
ExiteBots on the Wii is a weird and cool racer for sure. And how about Streak Hoverboard Racing for the PS1. What a crazy and cool futuristic racer! Super fast, lots of tricks and turbos, amazing track design with lots of variety, weird characters each with their own personality and story, and something else I always have been a fan of -- a link console mode! Give this one a try. It does have a huge learning curve but once you get it down, its a beauty!
I tried my best to quickly find a local copy of Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing for this video...but there where ZERO copies for sale in every retro gaming store we visited. I would have online order it, but we didn't have time.
After making the video, we were sitting on the couch PLAYING EXCITEBOTS and Jason goes "How did we forget this game!?". It completely slipped our minds... And yes, it is definitely crazy and weird!
starsky and hutch is a total hidden gem, and I was wishing you would cover this game in one of your hidden gems videos. thanks for showing off (in my opinion) one of the best arcade style car combat games ever.
On iPad...you have to set the controls to TILT (way better than touch) and the difficulty down to Beginner. That way you can actually get through it. Haven't played the Sega CD version...
Stuntman is a good one. The only thing that holds it back is the fact that you have to load the entire level again every time you retry, and these loading times are ungodly long, and seeing as the game is incredibly hard and leaves little to no room for failure, you're going to retry the levels again and again.
I've been checking out videos on your channel for a while now and I got to say that they are absolutely amazing. I think it's really great that you shine a more positive light on relatively unknown games. Are you gonna do videos like this one for different genres?
Rollcage for the PSOne. One of the weirdest racers I've played that's still a ton of fun. You end up driving on walls and even the ceiling, and the strangest part is there is no "right side up" for the cars. They can (and will!) flip and continue to drive.
Jason and Jason what a great combo! Thnx MetalJesus and Jason Heine for such an awesome video. But there is one thing that i keep asking myself, What kind of music are they listening to while gaming? Maybe......Billy Ocean?
Awesome video guys! Great review, editing, choice of games, etc. Rockin hair do's and fake tats lol. Badass to see the two Jasons together on a vid! Would love to see y'all jamming!
Is it just me, or is Rumble Racing REALLY similar to NASCAR Rumble? Also, Lucky and Wild is a cool & weird racing game similar to that Starsky & Hutch game, but it's an arcade game made by namco in 1994.
Awesome video, loved the Jet Moto games back in the day! I guess the craziest racing game I've played has to be Excite Bots for the Wii. It's so wacky and much fun to play - I wonder why this never came to Europe. :x
I remember Jet Moto 2 from a Sony demo disc. I loved demo discs back in the day, which is how I discovered Einhander and Tomba! some of my personal favorite hidden gems on the PS1.
Ever played the Lucky & Wild arcade cabinet? Think of your Starsky and Hutch game, and add a pistol for the person driving. .... or two guns for the person not driving! Memories..
STREAK for the Ps1 was a really strange and cool racer, it got bad reviews but I loved that and jet moto. Hope you get a chance to check it out, love the show!
Woa, talk about the badass shades and wig combo on Starsky & Hutch! For me, the Crazy Taxi series and 18 Wheeler come to mind. That second Namco controller you showed is called the JogCon and was actually made for Ridge Racer Type 4.
Nice vid, already picked up Rumble Racing due to your earlier rec. I'd like to see some older racers like Stunt Race Fx or something even more out there like Uniracers on the SNES. Maybe even one of my very favorites: Auto Racing on the Intellivision, way ahead of its time.
i was so blown away by Road Blaster as a kid, OMG. And i couldnt remember the title cause i never owned it myself. Thank you so much ...great memories.
Aw yes, Enviro-Bear.. game of a generation. The driving bear physics are so realistic it's unbelievable. This absolute classic is a must have for any collector
I think I will buy that Rumble Racing for my PS2. It looks really fun. Still waiting on that top 10 racing games for every system you won MetalJeusRocks. I think with your racing game knowledge it would be a fantastic idea.
awesome videos as always ! Jason and Jason, was great to watch you both and I know Jason loves his racers so the vid was perfect for him 1 Keep up the great work pal :-)
Two words: Hot Throttle. It's actually a flash game, so you don't even have to track it down or pay for it, but if you're looking for crazy weird racing games, you should look it up. I could try and describe it here, but I think it would be better left as a surprise.
I love my JogCon! I definitely want to find a NegCon... some other crazy racing games: ChoroQ on PS2, Bomberman Fantasy Race on PS1, Sonic R on Saturn (most people hate it, but I loved it as a kid...)
The Mortal Combat racing game on the Mortal Kombat Amageddon PS2 game is pretty cool. That probably could be classified as "crazy weird" seeing as it is kind of Mortal Kombat meets Mario Kart and was a pretty unexpected addition to the game. The catch up logic is a bit annoying, but otherwise a fun racing game.
Just pulled my PS2 outta the closet. Never realized 25% of my games are racing. I have never heard you talk about Test Drive Eve of Destruction but am sure you have. That is one of my favorites along with Stuntman, Driver(PS1), Sledstorm and Star Wars Racer Revenge. So hard but so addicting
I enjoyed the cool controllers at the end. I remember The Ridge Racer series really pushed some odd controllers out =) Much better than a fishing rod if you ask me. Have you reviewed a Dreamcast fishing game yet MJR?
that starsky and hutch game looks like an awesome way to do a driving/racing game local multiplayer. would like to see more like that, and done better.
A great crazy racing game that I played a lot was Smashing Drive for the arcades, the original Xbox, the Game Cube and a bit later got a GBA port too! And the GBA port is surprisingly good! It's surely not as good as the console versions but it has all the levels and everything in 3D graphics, runs pretty smoothly and controlls pretty nicely too! It's great on the arcades, great on Game Cube and Xbox and great on GBA too!
When you showed Starsky and Hutch with the light gun and driving gameplay, Lucky and Wild arcade by Namco came to mind. Thats one game that needs a console port.
Konami Krazy Racers for GBA is an above average Mario Kart clone, and it has crazy in the name (with a k so it's even krazier haha) Great video Jason and Jason!
Couple more crazy racers for my beloved SNES. Uniracers and (possibly not too crazy but 1-awesome and 2-truly forgotten) Lamborghini: American Challenge!
I remember the game Mashed: Fully Loaded being really fun, for both the Xbox and PS2. It has the micromachines style for excellent multiplayer on the same screen. Don't know how much of a hidden gem it is though,
awesome vid guys - love seeing heine making another appearance... btw have u guys checked out ID's "RAGE"? its a 360/ps3/pc awesome 1st person shooter with pretty solid racing segments. MJR, you'd appreciate it, but Heine, I'm telling you, it's right up your alley. Cheers guys
You included Rumble Racing on the list for the same reason Blur for the Playstation 3 should of been! But seriously, Blur is an awesome game by the same people behind the PGR series on Xbox and Xbox 360, and I highly recommend it if you're into high octane arcade racing games! Though I wish it was available on Steam, despite the fact you can track down a physical copy for the PC.
re-volt needs to go on one of your next racing game lists. you play remote controlled cars in various silly variations and drive through super markets, suburbs etc. the graphics on pc are beautiful and the cars handle nicely. there is also a lot to unlock. it exists for ps1 and, i think, dreamcast but those ports are ass.
weird...i hooked up the mega cd last night for the 1st time in ages and played road blaster (road avenger in britain)..it's a really lo res version..after watching this i got the ipad version and it is so cool the have an arcade perfect laser disc game/anime thang on what is essentially a handheld.. i can remember stuff like road blaster and dragons lair blasting out in the arcade back when i was a kid and blowing our minds..it still is really compelling to play and a proper 80's nostalgia fix
I distinctly remember a port of JetMoto for the PC, because I played it. So it isn't PS-exclusive. You guys should check out Crazybus, a Venezuelan bus simulator for Sega Genesis.
Luckily Enviro-Bear is available on the play store. Even more luckily I was super high when i found this game. It's one of the most hilarious games I've seen for a mobile OS.
This was such a blast to be a part of! Wacky racing games and the double Jason's, this has classic written all over it! Can I get in a wig again now!?!?
-'sup guys, how ya doin?
-i know!
wtf? ;)
😂
Rumble Racing. I played the heck outta that game when I was in college. total hidden gem.
Thanks for being on the episode buddy! That was good times making this video.
Drunken Master Paul is absolutely NOT dead. He just is sleeping soundly with his eyes open... so nobody tries to steal his booze.
That controller is called the Namco JogCon and in the center is a force feedback wheel for Ridge Racer 4
lol the first 5 seconds "sup guys how you doing? - I know!"
Funny you should mention Crazy Taxi...because it seems like the most obvious choice! If we do a Part 2, it needs to be on the list!
Yup, was gonna say, totally not an exclusive!
Some Crazy, Weird and Bizarre Racing Games with Jason Heine of TheEMUreview! Some of the games are so bad they are good…and some are…just really, really BAD!
If Jet Moto got another game on PS4 I would buy me a PS4 quickly.
fireheartis1
No doubt! Jet Moto is such a gem. I still gotta give it a play from time to time. I would love to see it on the PS4! :D
gamernaut88 Me too I hope they release a version on PS4. I just won one from GameStop and would love to get my hands on another Jet Moto.
That controller @ 9:25 was actually designed for Ridge Racer Type 4..
The Urban Nemes1S
Yeah, I remember the JOGcon force feedback gamepad packed into the R4 game for its original release. Cool collectible steering controller. Too bad it wasn't compatible with more racing games. I love starting my mornings off with a fresh cup of MetalJesus.
Super Cars series, Badlands, Interstate '76, Pyroblazer, nail'd, Full Auto series, Carmageddon series, Quarantine series, Fire and Forget, etc
The Namco NeGcon and JogCon Controllers were made for Use with Ridge Racer games.
Rollcage for the PSOne. One of the weirdest racers I've played that's still a ton of fun. You end up driving on walls and even the ceiling, and the strangest part is there is no "right side up" for the cars. They can (and will!) flip and continue to drive.
One weird one is a spin off from the Micromachines games, Micromaniacs it was called. Running on foot as small toys, with power ups.
Jason and Jason what a great combo! Thnx MetalJesus and Jason Heine for such an awesome video. But there is one thing that i keep asking myself, What kind of music are they listening to while gaming? Maybe......Billy Ocean?
That Raod Blaster looks amazing! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Awesome video guys! Great review, editing, choice of games, etc. Rockin hair do's and fake tats lol. Badass to see the two Jasons together on a vid! Would love to see y'all jamming!
I think you got 1976 confused with 1986
Is it just me, or is Rumble Racing REALLY similar to NASCAR Rumble?
Also, Lucky and Wild is a cool & weird racing game similar to that Starsky & Hutch game, but it's an arcade game made by namco in 1994.
rumble racing is nascar rumble but without the nascar content
Awesome video, loved the Jet Moto games back in the day!
I guess the craziest racing game I've played has to be Excite Bots for the Wii.
It's so wacky and much fun to play - I wonder why this never came to Europe. :x
I love your chemistry on the show, good to see you two make a video together.
We almost added Uniracers to the video...but ran out of time. Maybe the next video :)
Memories..
best way to start a video " im here with my good friend" friend "whats up guys hows it going" metal jesus " i know! " lol
Annnnnnnd BOOM goes the...dynamite? Nah, apparently awesome, zany racing gems! Another awesome video, MJR!
Just one comes to mind - and I have in my collection! Crazy Frog Racer on the PS2! Only played it for about 10 minutes, though!
Logitech makes the best racing wheels IMHO. They are a nice mix of performance and decent price.
I also recommend picking up World Scariest Police Chases on the PS1 it's similar to Starkey & Hutch where one player drives and the other shoots.
Your intro song reminds me of Garbage's "I'm Only Happy When It Rains". Except in my head it plays "I'm Only Happy When I Game"
I was about to comment how amazing your tatoo's looked before you told us all they were not real! :)
Aw yes, Enviro-Bear.. game of a generation. The driving bear physics are so realistic it's unbelievable. This absolute classic is a must have for any collector
Cel Damage is an XBOX game I have been meaning to pick up for a while now... I keep forgetting.
awesome episode guys!!! nice to see you team up for this one! :D have a good weekend!!
I think I will buy that Rumble Racing for my PS2. It looks really fun. Still waiting on that top 10 racing games for every system you won MetalJeusRocks. I think with your racing game knowledge it would be a fantastic idea.
Game sack and Metal jesus rocks, my favourite video game channels having a conversation! great!! congratulations from Uruguay!!
rush 2049 for the dreamcast is one of the best arcade racing games ever. i can't believe that nobody talks about the rush games
You have slimmed down SO MUCH dude, good for you!
awesome videos as always !

Me and my brother loved playing a Racing game called "Micro Maniacs" :)
Epic best episode yet LOL you had dying when you said you have to get into character
I haven't played Big Red Racing. I assume it's similar to 18 Wheeler?
I enjoyed the cool controllers at the end. I remember The Ridge Racer series really pushed some odd controllers out =) Much better than a fishing rod if you ask me. Have you reviewed a Dreamcast fishing game yet MJR?
Road Blaster on SegaCD! Man what a flashback, I've been looking for the title of this game forever.
The Jet Moto series was awesome when i was a kid. I don't know anyone else that owned any of those games but i sunk so many hours into them
that starsky and hutch game looks like an awesome way to do a driving/racing game local multiplayer. would like to see more like that, and done better.
I just want MetalJesus to talk about Full Auto for the 360. That was a great combat racing game!
When you showed Starsky and Hutch with the light gun and driving gameplay, Lucky and Wild arcade by Namco came to mind. Thats one game that needs a console port.
Love this series mate keep them coming. And if you want some weird games check out Phoenix Games or the developer Blast! :P
Chras Bandicoot Tag Team Racing is pretty fun. has an adventure game mode and the multiplayer is really fun.
Carmageddon - basically Duke Nukem on wheels.
On the next episode of I Hate You: MJR plays Desert Bus with the Dance Pad controller.....LOL
Nice to see an AGG crew member. Will Gamester be making an appearance in your next video?
Rumble Racing is so good and it's the successor to Nascar Rumble on PS1 which is another awesome game.
Starsky and Hutch would be so much better if the whole screen didn't flash every time you shot.
Fellony 11-79, Runabout 2, ESPN extreme games, death rally...
Rumble Racing is truly a gem, such a cool game :D
Great list, but you guys missing the Nascar Rumble for PSX. Its a crazy Nascar game, really fun!
I love Jet Moto!!!!! Awesome video MJR and Jason!
I remember the game Mashed: Fully Loaded being really fun, for both the Xbox and PS2.
It has the micromachines style for excellent multiplayer on the same screen. Don't know how much of a hidden gem it is though,
There should be a t-shirt with you saying "It's a total hidden gem"
awesome vid guys - love seeing heine making another appearance... btw have u guys checked out ID's "RAGE"? its a 360/ps3/pc awesome 1st person shooter with pretty solid racing segments. MJR, you'd appreciate it, but Heine, I'm telling you, it's right up your alley. Cheers guys
Throw in some beer and grab a buddy, that startsky and hutch looks like a blast. I will be keeping an eye out for it.
Come for the theme song, stay for the awesome content.
I wish they would make a current/next gen Jet Moto. Jason is right on the money with that
Oh man, all the Jet Moto games are so underrated.. Awesome list!
You included Rumble Racing on the list for the same reason Blur for the Playstation 3 should of been! But seriously, Blur is an awesome game by the same people behind the PGR series on Xbox and Xbox 360, and I highly recommend it if you're into high octane arcade racing games! great episode
when it comes to weird and fun PC racing games, Dethkarz is totally a candidate
re-volt needs to go on one of your next racing game lists. you play remote controlled cars in various silly variations and drive through super markets, suburbs etc. the graphics on pc are beautiful and the cars handle nicely. there is also a lot to unlock. it exists for ps1 and, i think, dreamcast but those ports are ass.

You need to play Super Trucks Racing on PS2. I nominate that for an "I HATE YOU" episode. The handling is crazy.
I distinctly remember a port of JetMoto for the PC, because I played it. So it isn't PS-exclusive. You guys should check out Crazybus, a Venezuelan bus simulator for Sega Genesis.
Excite Trucks and Excite Bots for the Wii are insane.
Believe it or not but Beetle Adventure Racing for the N64 is amazing!!! Don't be put off by the type of cars just give it a shot and you'll love it.
The scaling effects in Enviro Bear look incredible.
I cracked up laughing when you guys brought up desert bus
Luckily Enviro-Bear is available on the play store. Even more luckily I was super high when i found this game. It's one of the most hilarious games I've seen for a mobile OS.
Oh man! That is a great idea!
Rumble Racing has got to be one of the best racing games of all time
excellent, Can't wait to get my hands on Rumble Racing
