Randall Huston Sounds awesome, what exactly did you do to the carb to get it setup? Curious as I just got a GL1100 and 2 of the carbs are junk so going the VW carb route. :)
I am using a 34 Pict 3 with a 145 main jet. I also drilled out the idle jet with a .008 micro bit. From there it's a matter of working with the bypass screw and mixture screw.
i have a 34 Pict 3 and cant get millage out of it no matter how its tuned. any pointers ? i might be getting 20 mpg. have to stop and fill up every 60 or so miles is getting expensive
I'm not using the choke. I rotated the choke mechanism backwards until it keeps the choke fully open and I don't run the wire to it. I also took out the fuel cutoff solenoid and cut off the plunger and disconnected the wire. My main jet is a 145 and I drilled out the idle jet with a .008 micro bit
How about I show you what happens to me in the heat with leathers on after I've suffered from heat stroke? Not everyone can wear layers of clothing in hot weather. You shouldn't judge someone unless you know the whole story.

Are you using a chinese copy? I have a real VW carb on mine. It was removed from a 71 beetle. The chinese copies can be problematic.
