    It’s not good to spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner into your air intake while starting. The cleaner washes away the oil film between cylinder and piston, which causes serious damage to the motor. For starting procedures only use jump start spray, never a cleaner. Anyway good video!

    Thanks for sharing. I totally disassembled the carbs 2 yrs ago and started to put it together today and forgot how things go back together. This really helps. Thanks

    I have a 1980 and when I bought it the guy said he parked it many many years ago but it was running well the carbs were epoxied shut from sitting and my jets were pressed in not screwed in and I couldn’t get it cleaned for months so I bought a set from a guy that said it came of a running 1982 model and they were clean so I put them on but it idles great but hesitates and pops when I give it gas so I’m guessing I better go threw them, what and where should I get a kit and what should I be looking for when I tear it down ? Thanks for the video

    may i suggest to use a rubber mallet instead of a hammer on the carbs or aluminium

    • @RaymoreRepair
      @RaymoreRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly. When I am using the hammer I am not hitting very hard at all. Thank you for watching.

    What do you recommend for an ultra sonic cleaner and solution mix you use 😊

    Very helpful, informative and detailed instructions / narration. If you found a good running, well-maintained 1982 GL1100 Interstate with low (32k) miles for $1,900 would you buy it? (Assuming you wanted a runner rather than a fixer)

    • @RaymoreRepair

      Probably as long as it is in good condition.

    Would be interested if I hire you to clean/rebuild my carburetors on my 1980s Honda gl1100? I can remove the carbs and send them to you if that works? I just don’t have the capability to properly clean them…

    • @RaymoreRepair
      @RaymoreRepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      That could probably be arranged. Send me an email on the address listed on my You Tube home page.

    Hello, I got a GL 1100 from 1981, and I have 2 problem's the first is the following: 1st carburetor is constantly draw in gasoline, at the startup, I saw the float level and is good the only way to stop drawing it's the second problem is since I start the engine it tops at 4000 rpm without touching the accelerator, what you think about this? Regards

      On your fuel, There is a crossover fuel passage inn the plenum. It could be leaking fuel there. On the second I would suspect a vacuum leak.

    I was surprised to see your old orange Snap On ratcheting screwdriver. Do you still have the pin up girl drink mug as well? I still use my screwdriver all the time, but not anywhere near as hard as you do, so it still looks pretty much like new. These were sure nice bikes.

      np pin up or mug but I sure like that screwdriver! Thank you for watching.

    Elbows? You certainly meant Intake Runner's right? Gotta keep that Valkyrie running with fresh gas and it is always a fun ride anyway. I simply prefer the fairings due to wind buffeting and really helps when the clouds let loose. I know this is a Standard (referred as Naked) .... but lots of us have taken our carbs off and started but got sidetracked and need some refresher info. Thanks Ray.

    • @RaymoreRepair
      @RaymoreRepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. My Valkyrie get regular exercise just to keep it all going.

    This is very helpful. Thanks. The reason you'll see a bunch of buggered screw heads is that they are actually not Phillips screw heads, they are Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) screws. a much more precise and deeper cut. For older Japanese bikes, its worth getting a good set of JIS screw drivers. Don't ask me how I know.

    Hey man, where did you get that awesome blue tray? I like that, using old coffee cans and storage bin lids for my parts organization. lol I like your idea much better. I am only on your second video, hoping you finished this project and found it to be a great investment of your time.

    Mate, my son just turned 13 and on top of girls has also found motorcycles.
    I spent my youth on two wheels and have been missing projects on wheels ever since I grew up and had to become sensible.
    We´re in the process of buying our first house.
    Bucket list for sitting in the garage: A Gold Wing to be turned into the styliest café racer you ever saw.
    Be checking in on you in the time to come,- maybe even do a video myself on what will hopefully become a project with my son.
    You are as of now my new unofficial Honda Gold Wing Haynes repair manual. :)

      LOL, the cafe racer's have been overdone on these ol' wings. I personally prefer the naked look or maybe a street fighter look. I just don't like the "bobbed" look for em. Good Luck.
