Thanks for making such an awesome manifold! The only thing I had to do was make some gaskets for the runners to elbows. I also added heat to the manifold via electric heaters. Works great!! Thanks!!!!
It will run much better on heat. If you heat it consistently you can jet it smaller and it'll run more efficiently and reliably. My channel shows an easy and cheap way. Great video! Thanks!
I have a 1980 GL1100. I had just converted to the single carb (much for the same reasons you had) which is the knock off 34 PICT 3. I was trying to resolve tuning issues when I found your video. I was able to make some of the tweaks you did and I now have it holding an idle which it previously would not do. Because of another video I had viewed I replaced the jets with the other jets that came with the carb (larger). In your video you said you were going to experiment with smaller jets. Did you try out the smaller jets? Did you arrive at the optimal jet sizes for your bike?
Hi thanks for watching! Yes installed a 120 main jet (down from 127 main stock) and the plugs are no longer as dark and it runs essentially the same. I took it out on the highway and it ran fine.I just installed a size 40 pilot jet and it started up but I didn't have time to fiddle with it other than that. I have not touched the air correction or power jets yet as guys on the VW forum says to not touch them unless your getting certain symptoms from your main jet...
@@Michael-ft3vgYou might try enriching your accelerator pump a tad along with this smaller idle jet….let us know if that corrects the dying on take off. BTW..great job on your video! I know these take a lot of time and effort to edit etc.👍👍👍
The carb is from Amazon. It was around $50 shipped. Just look up 34 PICT3 Manifold: www.ebay.com/itm/176428123680?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=80dw7j1eqna&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=U5h3tl93Qd6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Honestly, if your stock carbs are working good then I'd actually recommend sticking with them unless you want a project because honestly the single carb is not as "performance oriented". You'll lose power especially at the top end compared to the OEM rack and I'm still trying to figure out how to get the MPGs up 😅.

Hi, I m VTC Motors. What a great video for those who rely need help doing this conversion. Great job. Good luck.

Greaaaaaaat I just bought one of those fucking square intakes😅
You can get it to work but you'll need to heat the manifold. It's actually pretty easy
You could try filling in the bottom of the “box” with 2 part epoxy to the level of the tubing

Update: 40 size idle just idled better BUT trying to take off from a stop would cause the bike to die...

@@cobbleup I was able to fix the dying off idle by heating the manifold
Edit: still running 55 idle, lowest setting on accel pump
Who did you order your manifold & carb from, I'm waiting to do the same thing, although I built the carbs and mine runs great

How is fuel economy now that it’s been running good?
I get about 35mpg without heat. With heat, about 40-45
