Why did it take three slaps ? The first one she should've been arrested
But she wasn't doing it maliciously. She gently batted away the horse that was in her personal space, trying to nibble / bite her. I've heard that the Royal Guard purposely chooses horses like that, to keep the tourists on edge. Personally, I think tourists shouldn't even bother with these guys, and not spend any money there. When the revenue stops, the people of Britain will demand an end to the free-loading royals, and they can take these "mock soldiers" (maybe some have served in actual military assignments, I really don't know... but this grandstanding is a farce) with them quite frankly.

@@lansia007 No, she was not. She was standing next to the horse, waiting for her picture to be taken, and the horse came down and to the right to nibble / bite her. And again, she did not slap the horse, but gently batted it away so that it wouldn't bite her. In other words, she was reacting to the horse's actions. What part of that do you not get? Also, they purposely use horses like that... many other videos even show those horses go well beyond how far she was standing to bite at people.
The horse is doing a job, and she should have been arrested.
Saddest thing is most of these royal guards have usually served multiple tours of duty, seeing god knows what in the name of protecting us UK citizens and people treat them like props rather than local heroes

You are right as a mother of an ex guard, service men work extremely hard. Tough fitness challenge's to pass every year. Many tours take them away from family and put them in dangerous situations. When the firemen were on strike they did the firemen's job. Everyone should have respect for their service to our United Kingdom.

I read somewhere they try to use playful and assertive horses for these position so they won't be afraid to take back their personal space from tourists. Take it with a grain of salt

If they didnt want the guards to be part of the show, they would have a lot more barriers and strict policies around them to prevent interference and distractions. But the govarment WANTS ppl and tourist to take selfies and pictures with the guards. They want it to be a tourist attraction, it makes a lot of money for them.

Can remember the days when the Royal Guards never broke their composure..ever. It was like a sort of “ passage of rites” if you were young & visiting the UK. Its distressing to see them so harassed & abused… These are highly competent & extremely underpaid men. Am glad tbh that they’re now “settling their boundaries” so to speak..
