That is the toughest looking Goldwing of all time! The attention to detail with this build is immediately apparent from any angle. I've never imagined this bike looking this awesome. That fairing looks so killer!
I've never liked it when people turned these into bobbers or bikes along those lines but you did an incredible job on this one. It really looks great. Well done man. I'd be proud to ride that bike.
So glad you have rebuilt it respecting the legacy, not adding some stupid large chrome wheels! Those old school gauges - beautiful. Running engine sounds really smooth. Wishing you miles and miles on it!
I could notice at certain angles the pearl in the black you mentioned. Sweet! I've been wanting a custom goldwing but I don't want to use my 82 interstate or 85 aspencade so I'll find a standard 1100 and go from there. Man, your ride is 'smokin!' NOW THAT WAS A "SHOW AND TELL"!
That's an INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL BUILD you did!! You're right, Honda should have designed the Goldwing this way to begin with! Thanks for sharing this with us, hope you have an amazing week!
Thank you everybody for the public comments I really do appreciate the kudos hopefully I can get this bike sold and do another one in a reasonable amount of time thanks again!
This bike looks absolutely fantastic ! I love the blacked out look and how you took all of the unnecessary stuff off. As you said, Honda should've made them like this ! :D
@@joerigillissen9324 i dont think my opinion matters to a massive company like honda. Im just stating that it was unnecessary to make the goldwing more sporty when the whole point was to make it the most comfortable ride for long distances. They have sport bikes and adventure bikes for those people. People CAN make their own decisions now but honda seems to want to make the goldwing just like any other motorcycle.
@@ConservativeCalifornian1032 - Can't help it, I have to say this... These bikes DID NOT start out to be a " most comfortable long distance bike"! They actually came out naked, and there was a great deal of chatter around the local Honda dealership of how great they would be *Supercharged", as the liquid cooling, and 'shaft drive' would help in that vein. Honda had their 750 cc bike, and it was 'over the hill' at 6 yrars old, and getting creamed by the other 'Yakaduki' bikes, in shear out acceleration. Durability was being surpassed by the other big 'hot rod cruisers ' of the day. The bike was big, STRONG , and appealing to - SURPRISE... touring types. Who bolted all kinds of, what we called, " garbage" on them, which changed the direction of the bike forever . A lot of us simply lost interest at that point, and turned our attention to other avenues. I mean who wanted a "garbage wagon" with a ton of crap on them ? We wanted 'slick & fast, and we wanted it to LOOK FAST, too. Fortunately, for Honda, there were a hell of a lot of people that did not share the interest of myself & our friends, at least as far as the GL was concerned. And the rest is history. But the direction of the big GL's was determined by how 'people customized' them, not by the original factory offering. I considered one myself, at the time. I could just see that big blower sitting atop the motor, and I wondered if I could tune it to ' surge' like the blown V-8 cars. What a fantasy, I was enjoying, untill the " touring crowd" got hold of them with Craig Vetters help and ruined it all ! Oh well, life goes on.
What a nice modernization of a fine time piece, your work and results are well done! Appreciate you sharing with us, Thank you Just picked up a decent shape low mileage 83 GL1100 standard. Ride On
Okay you win. I like that bike a lot. I've been thinking of picking one of those up and attempting something like that. They are out there for cheap and using your build as proof they can look very cool. Thanks for the inspiration.
Kevin, bang up job on this. And thanks for not cutting it up into another "cafe racer". You got good taste, and you dont see goldwings like this everyday. 👍👍
I am working on a 86 GL1200 Interstate currently an I am looking to do something close to your front end... Just wanted to say you have done an amazing Job bro.!.
I bought one in Phoenix for two thousand dollars. Used it a few years and sold it for two thousand dollars!!!You can probably do all kinds of things to these great Honda Motorcycles!!!
Killer build going to snake that rear end for my next wing. I was looking at the jerky windjammer on a 76 i inherited. Dig the customization going to have to try that.
Really love what you do with the old wings, currently trying to get one myself, it's good to see such superb work coming out of a place so close to me, I live in southeast Missouri
It's nice to hear from you I appreciate all of the kudos on my work. Feel free to reach out to me on the email address and phone number on my website: grubbsgarage.com
12K miles... hardly broken in. My '84A has 112K, my '86 reads 75K, love 'em both. Thought about modding but after riding a couple years have great respect for Japanese engineering for American riders. Classic bikes.
I appreciate everything that you've said and hope that you'll check out my website if you haven't already to look at other builds I've done if you do need any inspiration or ideas please let me know your project I'll be happy to help
I got my 81 gl1100 back on the road a month or so ago, she is super clean with original headlight assy and blinkers. No bags or bars or b.s. all stock. After a few attempts I'm satisfied with my carb syncing. I can't hold her wide open through the gears, guess my balls ain't big enough. P.s. nice work grubbs,. I was wondering what up, cool cut down jammer. Loved "Jaws"
I was watching your video here and I was wondering if you had any video on customizing the front fairing especially the bottom clips if you had any close-ups or whatever on that
Nicest modified Goldwing I've seen!

100%👍
Thank you!
One of the best custom goldwings, I have ever seen.
I usually hate custom builds but holy moly this thing is incredibly well done fantastic job mate
So glad you have rebuilt it respecting the legacy, not adding some stupid large chrome wheels! Those old school gauges - beautiful. Running engine sounds really smooth. Wishing you miles and miles on it!
Thank you!
Hey dude Awesome bike good job!
but what gauge did you use? is it a GPS? How did you hook up the tach and speedometer?
I could notice at certain angles the pearl in the black you mentioned. Sweet!

Palpatine .... It gives me more Lord Helmet vibes from Spaceballs with that front fairing! ^^
We got a comedian! Not everythhing is for everyone.
@@blkbtch I dont think thats a negative thing but yeah it does give Lord Helmet vibes lol
Go ride your overpriced pile of a Harley. At least the goldwing is one of a kind unlike your lookalike hells angel wannabe sportster
That has to be the best looking custom Goldwing I have ever seen. Very well done. Looks like it would be a blast to ride.
agreed that looks incredible
That's an INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL BUILD you did!! You're right, Honda should have designed the Goldwing this way to begin with! Thanks for sharing this with us, hope you have an amazing week!
I own a 1984 has 120k on her. Your bike is amazing I'd take that over a Harley any day...
My father has an 84 interstate with 24k original miles. He bought it in Capitola, california in 1986 i believe. Mint and beautiful
I'd take a vespa over a Harley
Thank you everybody for the public comments I really do appreciate the kudos hopefully I can get this bike sold and do another one in a reasonable amount of time thanks again!
Still hasn’t sold yet? I feel like this should have went a long time ago. Did an amazing job with it.
Beautiful bike. I’m wondering if you’ve ever done a similar style build on a six cylinder Gold Wing ?
I would very much like to discuss purchase…..
@@StellsBellz its sold
How much you got in it? How much you selling for? Really Ausome Job!!
that is the meanest Goldwing ive ever seen- cannot believe how good that looks. I am so inspired by your build!
Incredible craftsmanship
Wow! This thing is slick! The fit and finish is very professional!
That bike is sick man. I have a 1991 fxr. Gotta love the old bikes.
Beautifully built bike woth great attention to detail. You made this old Wing something special.
This has to be the best gl1200 build I’ve ever seen. I’ve been looking for inspiration for what to do with my 84 Aspencade.
we need a video of that thing in motion. amazing build
I own a 1990 SE Goldwing and I am building a cruiser out of a 1982 GL1100 Golding Interstate. Great video, I love seeing these old Goldwings live on.
This bike looks absolutely fantastic ! I love the blacked out look and how you took all of the unnecessary stuff off. As you said, Honda should've made them like this ! :D
Honda has plenty of other offerings for smaller faster bikes. The goldwings are touring bikes and thats how they should stay.

Beautiful gl1200, great work. I have a '86 special edition, seeing the countless small custom details you put in your bike is impressive.
Thank you.
That is fantastic and pretty fond of the eighties goldwing fearing myself but that is a beautiful build
That is a labor of love, and I may imitate some of your designs into the one I was just given. That is one VERY nice bike.
Outstanding work - Been looking for an '84 to build
that fairing would make a lot old standard bikes beautiful
Beautiful bike you do great work, I always wanted to find and work on these naked goldwings , for some reason I like the look of these bikes, nice job
The maddest and at the same time 'as it could have been' built I've seen !
Fine work, Brutha! I had 1981 GL1100 that became my first build. They're a great machine. Love the paint!
Was looking for a similar cut down vetter front fairing for inspiration for my GL1000. Looks awesome! 🤘😎
Ive never been a fan of Goldwings.. But man is thing thing a work of art.. Very Nice!
Wow. I know this bike is in magazines? I'm a harley guy but I'm on this all day!

Wow! Thanks man!
This was very tastefully done. I would run the louder exhaust myself because, you know, at idle, it probably sounds just as smooth. I really dig it.
