    My father passed away 18 months ago, and he left me with his 1976 Honda Goldwing 1000. He bought it brand new in England and brought it over to Canada in 1980. Its red, no fairing or luggage bags, and had custom Marshall exhaust. Its in pieces right now for my father was doing some repairs and never got to finish it. So until I find someone interested on taking this off my hands it just sits collecting dust. Id take on the job myself if I knew more about bikes and had money to do it. I would love to see this bike restored some day and Im sure my mother would also. My mum and dad went everywhere on that thing! Miss you dad!

    I've worked in home healthcare for 20+ years and one of my patients was a Goldwing rider. He was in his mid-80s the last time we rode together (just a few months before he died) and he STILL rode like an absolute hellion! Zipping in and out of traffic with a cigar dangling out of his mouth he scared the bejesus out of me! ;-) RC had been not just a fighter pilot but the original leader of The Thunderbirds aerial acrobatics squadron and one hell of a decent dude. He would have absolutely loved this thing... and terrorized traffic with it! ;-) Cheers.

  • @Jodyrides
    @Jodyrides 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    I roadraced motorcycles in the 70s.. there was a gold wing entered in a five hour endurance race. I think it was a 1975 Goldwing.This was at Summit point Road race track in West Virginia. They have a 3500 foot straight away on the track. If your machine is ever going to reach TopSpeed it is definitely going to reach it there,,
    this Goldwing took the lead on the third lap and ran away with that race against Honda CB 750s, Kawasaki Z1900s. RDs, Kawasaki triples of all sizes, a couple Ducati’s, Just to name a few. I remember how silently it breezed down the front straightaway lap after lap.. it won the race overall with ease.. I remember the name of one of the racers, his name was Taylor, I forget his teammates name..
    this was back when nobody knew with the gold one was supposed to be, before they invented the interstate with fairing and bags standard. we didn’t know if it was supposed to be a super bike, a sport bike, a standard, what was it?
    A friend of mine bought a 1975 Honda Gold wing. I had a 1977 Honda CB 750 F and I bought new. we ran them off on the interstate several times, and that gold wing just pulled away from my CB 750..
    it was not a slouch back in the day.

    What a cool freakin bike. I love that he used a Goldwing, such understated brute force to move a cafe racer. That motor barely has to even try to get that thing to MOVE. I hate screamer engines in my middle age. A bike needs to add to the tranquility of a ride, not ruin it like sound of a blender going off when your sleeping in a hammock. Your dad has style, love the build.

      People shit on the goldwing as a rich man's bike or a old man's bike.

    a 40 year old engine acting like a teenager. Best looking Gold Wing I've ever seen. The thinking that went into that bike is as valuable as many a college degree. Looks like it just drove off a racetrack a minute ago, looks like it's being stolen. She's a LOOKER, and I love her, cause I owned the 1st prototype in a silent auction in New York Mills NY just beyond the Utica Club Brewery in April 1974, some 4 months before the 1975 introductory price in August was $2695. I bid $3500 and drove the only GOLD WING in the USA for 4 months. Back then My dream bike was having a RAJAY TURBO on a CBX as that $2,000 modification was 2/3 the $3,000 MSRP and made the inline 6 a 9 second bike at nearly 150MPH in the late 70's. My prototype was faster than any Gold Wing sold to the public. If I had imagined back in 1975 to put twin turbo's on my 75 gold wing, and a fairing in the front with inverted forks, my bike could do 250 MPH easy with the right tire of course, having a blowout at over 200 MPH cannot be an option. I wonder what it must've been like for the real Burt who brought his Indian to Bonneville salt Flats from Australia. That's what this build reminds me of. Burt Monro and the worlds fastest Indian. complete dedication to detail. relentless pursuit of perfection. Thanks for sharing it! and i left the best for last, this build is a tribute to a courageous life lived in front of the builder, so this bike has a soul like no store bought bike knows.

    My dad has an Old school gold wing he's had since I was like 8 yrs old. I'm 42 now. Wish he would let me build something like this out of it. From a fellow custom bike builder , excellent build you got here.

    I remember when the Gold Wing came out. In 1975, I was at a magazine stand looking for the latest Cycle mag. I had no idea Honda was going to do this. My jaw was on the floor. I remember reading how easy it would be to customize and make a real fast interesting bike out of it, and I waited for this to happen. It never happened. Till now. Looks beautiful. BTW, I remember Ruffian and when she broke her leg. Also in 1975. Cool name and tribute to her.

    Wow, this guy really knows what he is doing., So cool to custom your own bike or anything else custom. And after he finished the whole custom bike, it works and looks like a charm. That's a plus.👌

    So pleased I found this video. This is outstanding! So many stylish inventions. This is a build to be very proud of. I just love the idea of old bike/new bike. Well done. I wish you many wonderful ride outs together.

    That's sweet. I like that the bars aren't flipped upside down and in a normal position that you can actually ride for more than an hour.

    A serious question. Do these always sound like they are running on 3 cylinders? They have such a strange firing order you can't tell if the engine is misfiring.

    Incredible! I’d like to point out that USD forks need a front fender that also protects the fork tubes since they are no longer protected by the upper body. It’s why modern sport bike front fenders looks so different from sportbikes of the ‘80s. I think it’s be really cool to see what he could come up with for the same function with cafe-styling.
