    Just put a Cleveland SmartSole 4 chipper in the bag and I will say it’s an absolute game changer. Just amazing and so easy. Never chipped this well in 40+ years.

    I gapped my wedges from 4 degrees to 6 so I could remove a club and make room for the Chipper. Previously had 46, 50, 54 and 58. Now I have 46, 52 and 58.

    I've been playing with a Cleveland smart sole chipper all year and loving it. I now play it for most chip shots and even many 50 yard and in shots. The upright lie and the thick sole (especially now that the grounds are hard and baked out) make it extremely accurate and more controllable. For some longer shots I can play it more on my front foot with a punch motion. It's been a great scoring tool. Thank you for your introduction to the product- I have you to thank

    Got all 3 Cleveland Smart Sole 4, been life savers with chipper being the most used. Best money spent as I don't ever have second thoughts grabbing it out of the bag on different situations around the green. Never looking back.

    Ordered my Ping Chipr - being delivered tomorrow. I've currently got 14 clubs, but I don't use my 3 wood or 4 iron - so one of those will go to make a place for it. Looking forward to getting out on the practice ground with it this weekend.

    I put the "Pirate" club ( The ChipArrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ) in my bag and took out the 64 degree. The 64 was useful 1 or 2 times over the course of 2 or 3 rounds, whereas the ChipR is useful half a dozen times PER ROUND, so the swap was an easy choice. In addition to a portion of my chipping needs, I find the ChipR useful for emergency situations like chopping yourself out of a tree well or a side hill with the ball 2 feet above you ( 14 handicapper, reporting for duty! )

  • @rdj3video

    If you are the creative type of golfer using a chipper like this then you don’t have to replace any club in the bag, because you are smart enough to already be playing about 9-10 clubs instead of 14.

    I'm a 18 handicapper and on average I score around the mid to high 80's. My biggest problem is GIR. I bought the Ping ChipR last week and my first round with it, I scored 77. This club took 6 shots off my score. Easily one of the best purchases I've made.

  • @MrJoeKneale

    I took a forged blade 9i (42*), cut it to 34”, bent it 7* upright to 70* lie, put 10 wraps of grip tape and a tour velvet jumbo grip on, and gobbed 20g of lead tape on the back. I have chipped in once a round for my last 4 rounds of golf, before bagging my “chipper” I only chipped in once in the last year. I’m now using this thing for punching out, extreme ball above the feet shots, open faced chips. If you are afraid of chipper stigma, make a “franken-chipper”.

      @@GolfShopOnline Agreed, I actually have bought a chipper and carried for 2 months. Chipped in once even. But the chipper I got has a lot of offset and I will blade it too. I actually have more confidence in my wedges and irons, Wilson Staff blades circa 1986. I know and understand the value of a chipper and have room in the bag. Looking for an older Wilson forged chipper, but as I said I chip pretty well with my other clubs. I had another TH-camr tell me to be careful because I will start using the chipper too much in the wrong situations. I have noticed I was doing that also. Back to the point, Joe, awesome idea!!

    I'm a pretty good chipper -- pretty good short game all around -- but your discussions about chippers prompted me to try something a little different on some shots: for short chips, use an 8 or 9 iron but with putting technique. So far the results are surprisingly good. This works especially well when I might be tempted to putt from off the green.

    I picked up a Tour Edge HL4 chipper. It has changed my game around the green. It is a great feeling when I am practicing at my local course and people ask me what I am using.

    • @ethansaunders995
      @ethansaunders995 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got lucky and found the HL4 with a 33" shaft mixed in with some old putters at a 2nd time around place for $30. My chipping was horrible and I like it a lot. My playing partners joke around about me using it but they like it that I'm able to chip much better and don't go back and forth across the green 3 times. It made playing much more fun and pleasant for everyone. I do wish the one I found had the 35" shaft and will keep my out out for one or alter the one I have but it's a keeper either way.

    I have the odyssey act chipper and i couldn't get on with it until I had a putting lesson though the pro was impressed with my putting he change one thing and that was to lower my grip so my eyes were pretty much over the ball . I tried the chipper again with this knowledge and hey presto works every time.. I use it for around the greens where bashing the putter through wet grass isn't an option 😂

      I LOVED my Cleveland Niblick 42. Which is what the Cleveland SS C is designed after. I switched to the SS C because the Niblick has the square grooves which are now illegal. I play in local tournaments so it had to come out. Enjoy the Niblick but be aware of its “legality” if you play in an events. 🙂

    First round last Friday with the new Ping ChipR. It went really well and was used from 90 yards to on the fringe. The acid test - I generally got the ball closer. My only issue was which club to take out, but on my home course, the 9 iron yardage is seldom left, I removed that. It may change.

    Hi, After being away from Golf for five year`s ,I joined my local club 2 months ago, had lessons and will continue with lessons for a while yet. Ive never been what you could describe as a great golfer, my official handicap came through this morning 21.5.But on the topic of a chipper ,I bought the Ping ChipR from yourselves and after only 3 rounds practice i can say it was well worth every penny! I used to use a 9 or 8 iron, with around a 50 percent chance of actually chipping into the area i wanted! After using the chipR without any practice, i found it a lot easier and gave me more confidence! I am not saying for one minute it worked every time, as none of my clubs work every time! lol. And as for having to take out a club to make room, that was easy, cause there`s plenty of room in my bag! A golfer like me does not need a bag full of wedges! So my advice is this, if you struggle chipping get a chipR and enjoy your golf ! Im not planning on staying at 21.5 for long and my new chipR is going to make all the difference! Keep up the great videos and try and stay on the shorter grass! Shaun.

    I got the ChipR three weeks ago and absolutely love it!
    ♥️
    I have totally eliminated and fat or thin chip shots, and (as you say) now get it on the green! I can’t say I’m a poor chipper (with a wedge or 9-iron), but standing more upright and using more of a putting stroke is definitely easier.
    I have really only used it with 15-20 yards of the green, so the jury is still out using it from 80 or 100 yards. I haven’t holed out with it yet, but I’ve had several within inches of the cup. 👊🏻
    As far a what club to TAKE OUT of the bag to make room for it
    … I took my 3-wood out. According to ARCCOS, my 5-wood goes as far as my 3-wood and is much more accurate (15% more fairways off the tee than using 3-wood); an easy decision for me.

  • @TIERNEYTHERAPY

    Hi Mark, ive just got a chip r from you guys. I have my Driver, 3 wood, 3, hybrid, 4 hybrid, cobra irons 5 to Gw at 50 degree, a 56 degree wedge, and 60 wedge, what would you advise to take out. My Driver is about 270, 3 Wood 245, 3 hybrid 220, 4 hybrid, 200, 5 iron 185 so all decent gaps. If i remove a wedge ill have a big gap somewhere but i used my mates chipper and it was deadly from 40 yards in. Love my 56 for bunkers with fluffy sand and my 60 for lob shots when short sighted. The pitching wedge is 45 degree so if i take out the 50 degree there is a big gap to the 56. Help me please lol

    • @GolfShopOnline
      @GolfShopOnline  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd always protect my gapping at the bottom end of the bag as this is where we need the most precision and control with our scoring shorts so I'd look more to swapping out a club further up in the hybrids/woods. It depends how comfortable you are hitting "in-between" yardages with the wedges but there's also no reason you can mix up these gaps/where you fit the chipper in to suit the course and conditions you're playing in!
